You know what they say….
Eir today, Garm tomorrow.
Always read before you click.
It even says “You will be asked to confirm twice before it is consumed.”
How did you miss that both times?
(edited by oshilator.4681)
We want Tengu for new playable Race!!!
Right.
You think Charr have clipping issues with armor?
Tengu would be worse.
(edited by oshilator.4681)
Perhaps we’re celebrating all the “balance changes” that are about to happen to various classes in the name of pvp.
So… I’m still not seeing it.
What, exactly, are we celebrating?
Or is this just more of the hype we’ve all grown sick of?
Or will this be another AMA to tell us that good things ARE coming, we just have to be patient?
(edited by oshilator.4681)
Words are just that, Mike. You can come on here & say all the right things about how you’re working to get the game going in the right direction.
Say all you want about how you’re going to start delivering content, LS3, etc.
But it’s all just words until we see it actually added to the game.
If the last 3 years have taught me anything, it’s that.
Actually, a fitting poll would’ve been -
Do you like not getting everything you paid for?
It’s all hype & (mostly broken) promises until it’s actually in game.
I’d just like to see folks get everything they paid $50 to $100 for.
Three years and nobody at Anet has learned anything.
More broken promises, only this time we paid in advance with the expectation of getting something that Mike has just effectively cancelled.
And yet. The next expansion is being worked on.
Meanwhile, HoT sits half finished.
Tell me again why I should continue playing?
Tell me again what I should be excited about down the road?
Anet is really good at hype.
Delivering? Not so much.
Good luck getting people to preorder your next expansion.
What’s that old saying?
Fool me once…. shame on me….
And then the prices skyrocketed.
You didn’t have 24 maguuma lilies saved up already just for this occasion? Casual.
You don’t already have all your insignias/inscriptions made? Casual.
I think they do not get that most of the player base don’t care about e-sports and just want to have fun with friends. And what is there to watch? All the beautiful animations are dying. There’s nothing to watch.
Take the tinfoil hat off for just 2 seconds…..
It’s not about e-Sports, it’s about creating a more dynamic and easier to read combat. This applies to Raids and future content where the mobs do more than just face tank you.
Carry on.
Then if a player cannot see, it is up to them to correct that and they can turn their own spell effects down. I have never before witnessed devs purposefully making graphics worse in their own game. If I like to play solo a majority of the time, why do I need reduced “visual noise?” (What an obnoxious term.) The answer is that I don’t. If I chose to do raids or anything else that requires a large number of players, I’d turn my settings down like I have done in the past with WoW, CoH, or the original GW. The developers need to recognize that this is hurting the game and will cause people to leave.
There is only so much turning down a player can do. Certain spell effects were just obnoxious and still persisted even if you turned your graphics down to potato.gif
And that’s why we need a slider. So everyone can adjust the effects to their liking.
I see that there were more visual nerfs in the latest patch and Anet is still not responding to the growing amount of discontent regarding this topic. Fireball is still a mess and now auras are almost invisible. I’m not into the whole e-sports thing but I can’t imagine invisible shocking and magnetic auras being a good thing for competitive players either. The only visual changes that didn’t butcher the animations were the shout ones. They still look okay to me but I’d need a side by side comparison to be sure.
Whatever the case, I’m baffled that Anet hasn’t yet considered making these changes optional. Guild Wars 2 is a game where visual appearance and animations matter a lot and every time you interfere with the visuals the negative response becomes greater. You can see this in the general discussion section and in reddit, which has a thread about it with almost 500 upvotes already, which is more than twice as many as the reddit fireball thread that came with the previous patch. My point is that the players are getting sick and tired of this and that it will become a very major issue soon if a compromise is not found.
If they’d do what every other MMO out there already does, and give us a slider option for the effects, then problem solved.
Better start playing Zork for practice, guys and gals. At this rate GW2 will be a MUD by February!
*by the December 15th patch.
Fixed.
I finally got Rebound to work on the 200th use. You know what it did? Nothing.
I didn’t die, then my hp went back up to 2k, and then I died with a simple autoattack. There is some skills and traits with Tempest that are so badly conceived (trait overlaps and rushed skills like lightning orb that only work on flat terrain) it’s unbelievable that they released it as it is.
To say nothing of the ‘visual noise reduction’ the auras (and fireball) have been slapped with.
Inb4 ‘reduced visual noise’ on Kudzu & Dreamer next patch.
The thing I want to remind people that even the PvP esport players didn’t request this Aura visual change either. I don’t even know where ANet get the idea from.
Please don’t blame PvP players on this.
+1
He’s right. Never once.
The e-sports ship sailed on this game 3 years ago.
And Anet has yet to realize it.
These ‘visual noise reductions’ are just more proof.
I’ve been told that it’s best to contact Anet via support. Maybe we should start writing them messages through that, but please keep it polite. Say what bugs you in recent changes and propose that famous idea of an animation slider, that would make everyone happy.
Like they listen…
The most ridiculous fact about this “noise” reduction is that when I first saw the new Ele fireballs I thought my game is bugged.
So yea, I think that speaks for how much I needed reduction of the visual noise.
Nobody needed this ‘visual noise reduction’ they’ve forced on us.
All in the name of e-sports viewers. (of which there were SO MANY last time, you guys.)
Meanwhile, the PvE experience is greatly lessened for folks who main eles & mesmers.
At least give us a slider so we can determine the amount of effects we want to see.
Just a matter of time before the next patch disables all game modes except leagues.
Please don’t listen to the OP.
+1 to the OP.
But I wouldn’t expect any changes or replies.
E-sports & all that.
Literally nobody asked for these ‘visual noise reductions’.
Give us a slider so WE can determine how much of the effects we want to see.
Or…..is that too much work?
Don’t wanna bother you guys..what with all your e-sports going on…
In the next patch notes – All visual effects removed from ele. To reduce noise.
It would have a great deal more utility as a circle reflect.
or, hell, even a dome in it’s present state.
To the OP – It’s great that you’re having fun on DH. It really is. And I’m in no way knocking you when I say the following:
If I wanted to play other classes, I’d be playing other classes.
To Irenio, if you’re reading this – Some communication would be nice.
So, basically, they slapped a 12s ICD on a trait because they couldn’t be bothered to program it so it would proc a bit after to prevent exploits. Awesome.
Why fix what you can just lazily nerf?
This.
They can’t fix the core issue, so taking the easy way out is the way to do it @ Anet.
Meanwhile, Staff still needs a LOT of work. AF is, well, you know.
Shouts are near worthless.
Traps aren’t much better.
But hey, how about them e-sports?
Ranger is still a choice when creating a new character.
Not sure if intended…
the minimal effects of auras in PvP are actually bad and not good
it is necessary to immediatly see if enemy has reflect aura or shock aura or not….
with those new barely visible auras that is not as easily possible as it was…
Wait until the e-sports team figures that out…..

Man this is starting to be like the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. So many other aspects of this game are frustrating me, the last thing I want on top of that is more visual nerfs.
But…. but…. E-Sports!
Ugh.
Give us back the original fireball, and I’d be willing to forgive the auras.
Almost.
That’s ridiculous… Really. Even now mesmer’s chaos armor is gone. This game is really going bad… Maybe time to make a pause.
Fireball is now laughable, not even a serious spell visually. Remember me some warlock apprentice learning his first spell. Auras are gone and they were looking goods… Really it’s just a pity it’s ridiculous i just can’t understand…
At the very least, let US decide how much we want to see.
Can’t they make a sliding scale for visual effects instead of this heavy-handed butchering of them?
Gee, I love logging in & seeing my characters do NOTHING when I use skills.
So flashy.
Must nerf.
I’m not even surprised anymore.
Traps & Shouts go unaddressed.
Staff 1 & AF generation don’t get looked at.
But a useful trait gets nerfed.
Again.
(edited by oshilator.4681)
For crying out loud…. it’s one line at the top of each loading screen.
At least it isn’t in the MIDDLE of the screen this time.
If this is seriously ruining your day, you need to get out more.
+1 to the OP.
But they’re not listening.
As you’ve all probably noticed, our spirits are bugged atm.
This link explains it better than I could -
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3tnz1x/psa_ranger_spirits_are_bugged_and_you_probably/
Also, ranger spirits aren’t applying buffs properly right now.
Apparently they’re prioritizing things like minions/clones/etc.
Where’s our hotfix for that?
If it were any other class, there would be one.
After a 5 minute fight with a thief.. this is how much my AF bar was able to generate..
This is with full ascended nomad’s w/ Druid ruins and Minstrel weapons. On heal with Druids my healing power goes to a little over 2500..
So basically unless I kited around using Staff 3 and GS 3 I would be bursted down by any class.. As full support.
You have completed ruined the Druid with this.
5 Minute Fight….. 5 Minutes…
If this pic is what you expected… I’ll be taking myself elsewhere.
So you don’t know how to play a Druid effectively then.
Got it.
If I had to guess, and I don’t, we’re just being ignored as per usual.
Until tonight’s patch which nerfs something else.
I mean, there have been some buffs to rangers and some nerfs to other classes in the patch notes since HoT launched. Where is your outrage for those classes? But no no, its simply that ranger is a hated class and “they’re out to get us” right fellahs!
Take your white knighting & fact ignoring somewhere else.
The ranger crowd “knows the score” & also knows we’re on the short end of it.
Over & over.
All the rapid fire knee-jerk changes in the past month are proof.
And while Anet may not “hate the class”, they sure as heck don’t respect the players that play it.
And if you look at the patch notes since HoT (of at least the documented changes).. one thing stands out:
Ranger/Druid has been the most nerfed class since Oct 23rd.
If you were trying to make a point, you failed.
Actually, I spent $50 to play HoT as a whole. And with a few exceptions (eyeballs Irenio), I haven’t been disappointed.
The change to AF gain last night was nonsensical at best.
Combined with the earlier change to Solar Beam, and AF accumulates at a snail’s pace.
This needs tweaking.
And Cosmic Ray is just garbage in it’s present state.
But to answer your statement – Druid is FAR from all I paid for.
What difference does it make?
They’re not listening.
They’ve made that clear multiple times.
Please don’t make them look at Smokescale again…..
