Wasn’t this patch… annoying.
It’s been known for over a month that balance patch will be at the end of June. Devs said it over and over, what exactly did you expect today?
I expected some better bug fixes that would help balance. For example the fixing of Warr signets. 1/4 times when you go into tourny the passives are not activated, you need to reselect all for this to work. If you aren’t paying attention you can start the game with no passives which, although I will agree is not massive, is a pain.
Personally, I’ve found that sometimes attempting to move while channeling sometimes doesn’t work (idk if it’s a bug or something).
This happens a fair bit with HB
no, and ive had it at times where no target will get hit by it in an AoE
Thought so. You tested this out on the Longbow for Warr Defektive? What do you usually run on it?
Profanity filter and block are your friends.
Personally I love getting trash talk directed at me. Just makes it all the sweeter when you destroy them.
If you think the most abhorrent verbal abuse doesn’t go on in RL sports or past times then you are sadly mistaken. Especially in sports. You try and throw someone off their game in any way you can to win.
Wasn’t this patch… annoying.
Interesting topic, but hard to implement. You nerf Asura range then nobody would ever play them. Agree it is unbalanced though.
A prime example is on Spirit Watch. Around the orb at one wall there is a waterfall. On a thief (when I was playing hotjoin) I was downed and teleported behind this waterfall. They were unable to see me in there and I could get myself up through bandage. I tested it using a Human and in the exact same state you can see their feet sticking out of the waterfall.
As a separate statement, we would also be willing to allow current teams or half teams to merge into us if they wanted to find new team members, use our resources etc
Quick question which I can’t find anywhere. If you have a Sigil of Doom on, and your first attack is an AoE attack (lets take Arcing Arrow from Warrior as an example) would all the simultaneous AoE hits proc posion?
Score doesn’t mean much in tournies. I couldn’t count the number of times I’ve seen teams win by 250 points and their guys have personal scores in double figures.
Sounds perfect for you both tbh! Get your applications in and we can chat more on the forums
Interesting! Maybe you could PM me your build I’d like to check it out

I think scepter ele is still viable, but i agree with you on the staff.
From my experience condi warriors are pretty dangerous… A single skill (pin down) does 15k damage… Then theres the seord offhand with more bleeding. I also run 0 condi removal. After surving the pin down id have 1k hp left in wvw and 3k in Spvp
. Its not overpowered or anything, but its viable in a 1vs1 when you dont havecondition removals.
If you have zero condi removals then you either have an AMAZING team who all have sweet AOE peels, or youre playing hotjoin and have a death wish
Warriors aren’t even viable and yet you want them to refocus their attention on extra builds for classes that are already at the top of the food chain… lets at least get every class 1 viable tPvP build.
extra builds? i dont know what kind of games you have played before, but mages generally speaking have been casters, caster dont go into melee, casters dont wear 2 daggers unless they are ceremonial daggers.
Yeah and Rangers only use bows, and the only people that wear clerics amulets are healers. This isn’t a game like any of us have played before so don’t treat it that way.
every class has had their shinning moment, please dont tell me you have forgotten of the old warrior charging in and killing you in the blink of a second with 100b and quickness, or the GS guardian rolling everyone, or the confusion mesmer making you commit suicide.
You also have a weird memory. I remember a time when it wasn’t strange to have three ele’s on a team because their sustain + damage meant that having any other kind of bunker was totally useless. Stop looking at the world through rose tinted glasses.
(edited by papaganoosh.7908)
Check this out. It is a bit more viable than a dual axe build but you still get two axes in the build
http://papaganooshplace.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/papas-stupid-axe-build.html
Bull Rush + Frenzy + Hundred Blades = Dead target. Three skill uses just like 3 + 3 + 3 spam for S/D Thieves.
Oh but wait, dodging and evading is NOW a viable answer, amiright?
I hope you do realize that you compared a spam able weapon skill to a 40s CD combo that uses 2 utility slots..
And roots you, and is the most telegraphed ability in the game. Anything else we missed?
And in what kittened world is the 15k damage the benchmark?! It’ll hit that much against a glass cannon, if you are full zerker and divinity, with 60%+ crit damage and they are dumb enough to eat the entire 3.5 second combo…
The dude who said warhorn isn’t useful as an offhand is trolling you. It is great to provide AoE swiftness for your guys, and if you trait to to condi peel and replace with boons it is very helpful in a support sense.
Recruiting only SPvP focussed players.
When I read about this in the patch notes I thought it would make all the characters on the winning team do the cheering animation.
Like Red Alert
Any plans in the mix by anyone to put together a grassroots tournament and open it up to people outside of the top 8/12 teams?
This would really nurture the community with regards to providing long term depth so the top tournaments don’t get stale, seeing the same teams/players every week.
We think that Warriors need more sustain in sPvP. You’ll see this reflected in upcoming balance changes.
Traits are huge in this, and just like you saw trait reworks recently for Warrior, we’ll be doing more trait changes to help to this end.
It’s Sunday, but I still wanted to jump in here to let you guys know we’re not ignoring you!
Finally an answer
That may be the start of the Warrior “new era” :P
Everyone here hope for some nice improvements in next 2 patches.
And if you need ideas, GW2 forums are full of themWe read the forums a lot more than you know. Karl/Peters and I actually print out threads sometimes and bring them to balance meetings.
We’re not ignoring any of the classes, I’m sorry if people feel that way. We simply don’t have time to personally post in all threads, on all our sub-forums.
JSharp, savior of the warriors
I will suggest that in further cooperative tournaments that they pick clearly defined roles. Grouch is a play by play man, and Blu should do color. Grouch’s indepth knowledge and ability to call out exactly what was happening was often interrupted by BLu trying to do the same thing. CLearly defined roles will help in the future.
I think this needs to be held up as the best post on this thread. When you look at professional sports commentary there is always one person describing what is going on and the other adding support commentary (stats etc).
A lot of the problems that people have mentioned could be smoothed out by each of the two commentators taking the clearly defined roles mentioned above.
Play by Play – (Grouch or anyone else) Just focus on the action in front of him on the screen. Control the feed display and tell the people what is going on.
Support – This guy (whether it is Blu or Tehmaker or someone else) needs to be the guy who knows the builds, the team comp, synergies etc back to front. He needs to be able to tell you why someone is doing something. The main role also is that they need to be watching a totally different screen away from the action. Constantly checking the mini map so that they can (if need be) interupt the Play by Play commentator and say something like “We need to switch over to Xeph now he seems to be dropping a portal at Lord and TP are going for the win.” etc etc
It might seem counter intuitive for one of the Commentators to be almost ignoring the action at some points, but it will help the general pace of everything and stop anyone missing amazing moves. If the tactic is good enough to fool the opponent you have to bet it is good enough to fool the commentators unless one of them is focusing entirely upon that!
Pretty much common sense, but carrying on the theme from above, do not suicide rez. yes it is important to get your player up, but if there’s a tonne of cleave damage over your downed player (as there should be against decent teams), then don’t try and rez unless you have the tools or the toughness to do so. Adding another person for your team to rez to the pile isn’t going to help!
Tier W:
Warrior.
<3 This
Instead of spending that many time trying to build a new warrior for Anet You could have l2p. Warrior Are not op but not bad too. L2p before posting this kind of stuff, it get boring see people complaining all the time.
Hilarious considering the majority of high level players all agree that Warrior is the poorest class at the moment. When there are more than just Hman playing Warrior then come back and tell the Warriors to L2P
For OP, I like the ideas, do not like the name changes.
Most classes die fast if two people focus the class. Necro has the highest hp table + DS. If you try to kill a hgh engineer or a necro you will kill the engineer twice or tree times before the necro goes down.
Don’t know what kind of broke kitten HGH engi’s you’ve been fighting :P
To add my input though, you need to make a Tier below Warrior and then put Warrior in it. Poor warrior
Agree on Fire sigil or even another Sigil of Battle or a Sigil of Leeching if you go full zerker.
Like the build synergy though and am a big fan of Warhorn with condi stripping. Also think the runes of lyssa are great with Rage, one of the upsides of such a low CD elite ability.
Love it when the GW1 fanboys come out to rant. How stupid of Anet to focus on the newer version of a game… rofl
What do you think people would say to Anet if they stopped all dev on GW2, their flagship game and went back to refocus on GW1? They’d get laughed out of the industry. Nobody goes backwards, that’s stupid.
As for OP I think a King of the Hill is a good idea. I especially like the idea of choke points. However, there would have to be some sort of penalty for standing on point to combat the problem stated above about everyone just running 5 hammer guardians with perma stability from shouts. Off the top of my head this could be reduction of toughness and/or Vit by a percentage value, cutting the affect of stability by 50%, something like that to promote good team fights around the point, whilst keeping one bunker on point to try and keep it capped.
Then of course switching the place for the next King of the Hill point so you need a dedicated fast roamer to get over there and fight it out for the point cap. Certainly has potential.

I generally tell my guys to roll Mesmer/Ranger/Necro to use our treb.
Interesting on the Golem charge, I just told my guild that Necro’s kinda suck on Khylo, but clearly I was wrong
Hi all,
I see a lot of posts complaining about a lot of stuff around the place, so thought I would (try to) start one that gives people a chance to say what they like about this map with regard to tactics and team comp.
As the both go hand in hand I thought it might be quite interesting. If you don’t agree with someone try your best not to cruelly shoot them down. This isn’t mean to find THE BEST setup and tactics (there clearly isn’t one anyway), just what people enjoy.
I’ll start.
Bunker (ish) Engi taking and holding close point, moving to Clocktower if they never try to back cap.
Sustain Ele take treb then go close point/Clocktower as needed.
S/D Thief and GS/Hammer Warrior in roaming death squad.
Mesmer on our treb.
Yeah I know what you mean. This build was just created bespoke for the specific team setup we have in one of our teams.
The other players are very mobile, high damage, decent toughness but have very little condi removal. So essentially this build is there to stay alive, provide a bit of healing, a lot of condi removal from them and act as a rez/stomp bot that can keep up perma vigor (almost).
I have to agree with you here guys. The lack of stability is an issue.
You can put in sure footed and balanced stance and last stand if you swap in hammer for more CC too:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNBHhJaE0JGuCyFCHOgge8FZhAaK8DpHhBbsGA-TIAA1CmA
And that makes it a little better, but it is still a pain. As for the healing I have to disagree with Brigg on this. It is a team fight monster. Almost constant condi removal (whilst swapping it for boons) and a constant tick of regen is very nice.

Here is an example of one of our teams in action:
50 Shades of Pink [PINK] – NA
Activity: Moderate, most of us have full time jobs, we play consistently about 3 times a week for 3 hours or so each night, usually between 10:00pm to 1:00am (EST).
Guild has only 5 core members who’ve been together for many months, not currently recruiting for core team but would consider one or two good, mature players to fill in for off nights when only some of us are on, rank 40 min.
We have a TS3 server.
Contact: Julius.1094 or Spelling B Champ.3264Dont want to seem like a jerk or anything but having a r40 req is pretty stupid if you ask me. I know a ton of people with high pvp rank as they farm hotjoin, but put them in a tournament and they are completely lost. Simple trial period is a much better way to recruit people. Sure, maybe you lose a game or two but you take the same risk bringing in a hotjoin hero with no strategic ability and with no min rank req you dont preclude possible candidates.
Your team though.
I second this. good post

About Us
The Unnamed is a semi-hardcore European Guild looking to recruit active SPvP players. Since WvW has become stale for many of our players and the changes to SPvP seem to finally be pointing towards a better future for the game in this respect, we have decided to refocus our efforts fully towards this side of the game.

A Brief History
The Unnamed, originally a UK based guild, has been going strong for 5 years, and was formed by a group of friends and previous members of a former guild for the release of Warhammer Online. When WAR came out, we started off small but within 6 months of the game’s release we grew huge, recruiting players and several smaller guilds resulting in us having some of our finest Open PvP players to date. We became a large force and influence in the RvR and through one of our Commanders, Bladeh, we made a name for ourselves.
We branched off into other MMO’s such as Aion, FFXIV, Rift and SWTOR. None of these games suited us as a guild and when our core members heard about GW2 and the promises of great PvP, we knew that it would take us back to our glory days.
Additional Information
As well as a section for Guild Wars 2 on our forum, we also run a number of other games from our community website (CS, Neverwinter, Minecraft etc) and a Mumble server for us to play games together on. People are on there most nights and it’s a very friendly environment full of laughter and banter.

How about you try it in a real scenario? You had 18 stacks vulnerability + full adrenaline bar + berserker armor + scholar runes + might stacking using a full glass build against a non-moving target with 1800 armor.
Honestly, that damage is terrible for such a scenario when thieves can open with a 14k backstab from stealth. Your real eviscerates wouldn’t break 8k in combat against glass cannons, and probably 4-5k against bunkers.
Please show me some proof of thieves backstabbing 14k on “real scenario enemies” in spvp?…

14k backstab…yeah…on which planet?
I missed that. have to agree on never having seen a 14k backstab as an opener. Maybe after the target has dropped below 50% health at a push.
I’ll say again though, this is just for testing purposes. This is clearly the very very top end of what is possible, but wanted to highlight that it is obviously stuff like this that other abilities are being balanced against, despite the fact (as has been mentioned numerous times) that it is incredibly difficult to land in SPvP, let alone get such a high crit.
I just liked the fact that a Warr with around 24k HP could still hit this hard.
