You can “roam PvE” with any build. If you don’t want to hit like a wet noodle, take as much berserker gear as you can and run damage traits. These two builds are most common for PvE:
You can always adjust builds- for example, taking Brawler’s Recovery in the Discipline line for condi clear.
I’ll have to check mine out later, but I don’t think I noticed anything different yesterday. One of the things I love about bifrost is the softness of the aura and footprints. I would be very unhappy if they changed my favorite legendary; they’ve already ruined two of the ones I made.
Tequatl and Triple Trouble are the only ones that drop ascended. I do world bosses because I like them, and I like being around people. The chat can be fun and you’re earning loot an karma in the process. It’s rare to see people talk in SW- I get bored easily.
My favorites/What I believe to be most profitable:
Teq – 2 gold and chance at ascended or something that sells for a few gold + lots of karma.
Karka Queen – Since it’s in a level 80 area, I walk away with a few T6 after the pre events. If you’d rather have an extra champ bag, do the western pre. Make sure you’re one of the first to start attacking to get an extra champ bag off of her. Chance at one of the karka bows which sells for over 100 gold and the karka shells add up.
Golem Mk II – 2 champ bags at the end. It may just be me, but the inquest at this pre event have given me exotics a few times.
Fire Elemental – 2 champ bags at the end and almost always a third from the Steam Golem after.
Ulgoth – If you do all the pre events, you can walk away with 6 champ bags plus one from Ulgoth himself.
Jormag – 2 champ bags and chance at Jormag’s Claw Fragment (though, I’m starting to believe this item is a myth)!
Jungle Wurm – Chance at 4 champ bags before it spawns, and it’s a quick and easy fight.
I avoid Megadestroyer: I genuinely cannot stand the laziness of people at this one. Pre events are TOO LONG and TOO MANY to do alone, and the reward is so little for the time, so I just don’t go anymore. People always asking “when does mega spawn?” and once I saw “yesterday he didn’t even spawn!” -Probably because everyone was waiting around for someone else to do the work. /end rant
The rest I do if bored, but Shatterer is starting to float in the same boat as Megadestroyer, as far as blatant laziness.
I’ve had two experiences particularly memorable due to their negativity: one in PvP and one in Fractals (just one player each time).
Most friendliest is definitely WvW.
Double click to place one geode in your wallet? Noooooooooooo! No more clicking, PLEASE!!!
Maybe it’s because geodes will be used for things in HoT and for some reason they can’t link it to currency?
Edit: Just clicked some of my silky sand to see and the geodes I got went straight to my wallet. Hopefully you are just bugged!

Played since day 1, never encountered such players. Small question, why do you farm ambient mobs?
People either do it to farm candy corn elementals to get trick or treat bags(an item that you throw on enemies to turn them into candy corn elementals), or to easily get some of the weapon achievements like shield mastery.
As long as the person isn’t following you specifically map to map, I’m not sure Anet would consider it griefing. They might be trying to get weapon kills in the same spot.
this is what raids UI look like there is no condi UI like in a normal party where i can see all the boons and condis on my allies, as a healer, i stretch this entire UI box to see the names and hp and everything better but to see if they have condi on them so i could cleanse them or not i cant see
SO I SUGGEST
there should be a box i could check to see boons/condi/etc
on the green square itself
Yes, for the purpose of raids at least, I would like to be able to see my squad’s boons and conditions. Makes it a bit difficult to decide when to use a group condi cleanse, for example. I don’t really like the blockiness of the current squad list- I would prefer just the simple party UI (Name, health bar, condi/boons).
@those asking/begging/complaining (sorry to group all together, there are some legitimate reasons they could, but, they already extended it to try to get more people to test it, at some point you have to stop a test…)
General response, not specifically targeted: Except they worked hard to try to get the problems resolved all weekend, and they already extended it 12 hours. Whatever they do, some people are going to miss out for some reason. “I can’t make it because I had 24 hour shift” “I had to fly across the country” “My timezone was asleep” “My internet went out that whole time” “My dog ate the wifi router, and by the time I got it replaced…” I think the only one I haven’t seen on the forums for this and similar extensions is the dog one, and I"m not even sure on that.
At some point, someone is going to be inconvenienced, or miss out. They didn’t think they could get the squad ui to be stable this weekend, but they appeared to. Yes it was selfish on Anet’s part, because they wanted it tested, to see if something would break, and at least in part to see if difficulty needed changed. It’s a beta test, and as such, nothing is actually guaranteed, things change at last minute.
Sure, it sucks to miss out on something you wanted to test too, and it probably won’t be a big issue to extend it a few hours, but it’s still going to have people miss out. If they are supposed to extend the beta weekend indefinitely to fit everyone’s schedule, they might as well just release HoT now and instead spend the next 2-3 years fixing bugs that could have been fixed before Oct. 23rd. I’m sorry, but I’d rather miss out, than have the rushed mess we had at release. And tbh, even Oct. 23rd feels at least a bit rushed… I mean, some of the elite specs (that are now apparently treated as almost classes? new icons for each? really? but that’s another discussion) were only basically just made, and there is a very big difference between them, balance is very off between specs and between main classes, which is to be expected. I mean, a lot of things that had been nerfed, were given in same or even a more powerful form, to the elite specs. Of course balance isn’t going to be established for a while after release, and Again, I digress… But let them work on HoT instead of working on getting us a continuous Beta that would take time and resources >.>
edited to clarify a few things. And if they do extend it a few more hours, or don’t, gl to those in it, that get in, and test it to not just get to experience it, but help them improve things now and in the future.
We all know all of this information. We’re just letting Anet know that we are very excited about this content, bummed that we’re missing the opportunity to try it out first, and to ask them to extend it if it’s in their realm of possibilities.
It is humorous, but really annoying when it covers up the enemy. So no thanks
Unfortunately I need to sleep, and then get up and go to work for a living.
this…….keep it open until tuesday
Same here. Was home all of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday waiting to raid. I’ll be home for the last two hours but most of my friends won’t be around. I know it’s a beta and kitten happens, but it is disappointing that we couldn’t experience this together. Please extend it into the evening!
If you go to dulfy.net, everything from the livestreams is written up. I think she also has some videos uploaded to YouTube that Anet haven’t uploaded yet.
I think the one that most bothers me is when my character comments on the loot I get, since none of it is worth getting excited over.
I know. My character says “Mine! All mine!” while I mimic along and say “Junk! All Junk!”
“Sweet, sweet loot!”
-No, missy. You threw four rares into the forge and only got one back… And it didn’t even give you an ecto!
I was doing a fractal with a male human ele one day and thought his dialogue sounded much better than my human female ele. I did make an asura one because they sound so fierce but they’re so cute! Pretty much all asura dialogue is the best, and on that note I find them all more interesting than human dialogue.
According to a dev post, there are a number of possible phrases your character can say for situations in raids, so it isn’t always the same old thing. Maybe after HoT they’ll get around to adding some stuff in other areas.
(edited by rhapsody.3615)
No idea, but I would report it as a bug and contact support. That’s over 50% tax!
I doubt that raids would be so strict that a 1.82% difference in DPS would cause a group to fail versus succeed.
I assumed it was for the extra armor, not the extra DPS, that makes ascended highly recommended.
I am not sure but I seen some streamer got full asc gear for free(from some bag or whatever) include aquatic headgear… How can I get it?
I edited my post with the answer above a few minutes ago
I think you had to put the ascended gear in the bank before the beta started. Beta copies your account but does not update with any bank changes after that.
Edit: When you enter the raid, there is a merchant selling ascended equipment boxes. The ascended items have selectable stats, so you don’t even need to bother taking equipment off your permanent characters.
I have quite the block list going. I appreciate friendly trolling and joking, but some go too far. I have seen people “joking” in open map chat about child abuse, sexual harassment, and other disgusting topics: these people are blocked without a word from me. Any pug who is rude or verbally abuses party members is also blocked after a dungeon or fractal run (or at the beginning, if we’ve barely started). Just as I limit my interactions with these types of people in real life, I prefer not to have these people join my groups in my play time. It has nothing to do with thick or thin skin. These people create a stressful environment in a place I reserve for fun.
First, I’ve had a few weapons and equipment that cannot be sold or salvaged. I know from the wiki that this applies to stuff bought with karma and gold (plus some others) but my question is: What else can I do with that stuff? Do I really have to just discard it? Discarding stuff goes against every gaming bone in my body hehe.
Equipment that you earn as level up rewards generally just has to be discarded. Since you aren’t level 80 this doesn’t apply yet BUT: Over in the WvW forum a dev told us that in HoT we will be able to salvage our armor bought with WvW badges, to obtain the upgrade (runes) and some Badges of Honor back! I have not seen this mentioned for karma armor… But for future you and everyone else, don’t throw that badge/karma armor away yet!
As for making gold: you can run Ascalonian Catacombs and Caudecus Manor explorable paths (story is also good for some loot and leveling). Dungeons will become available to you as you level up- Twilight Arbor in the 50-55 range, Sorrow’s Embrace at 60-65, and so on. The bottom of this page shows you each dungeon and recommended level.
Three things that stand out for me:
-You are a guild leader who is in another guild to do missions.
-Only yourself and two others have been repping the guild for a year.
-You don’t know how to motivate people to join or do things together.
To be honest, this doesn’t sound like much of a guild to me. If your friend wants leadership back, maybe you can work something out where they help rebuild the community to earn it. If you aren’t able to work something out, cut your losses and move on.
Yeah, it’s definitely not just “guildies are yellow”. My husband and I are both in the same guild. Sometimes the dot would be blue, but sometimes it would be yellow.
Blue definitely means a party member, while yellow may just mean guildie, but not partied?
The yellow dot only replaces a blue dot for a party member. There aren’t dots for non-partied members. I did dungeons yesterday with 2 guildmates. One had a yellow dot and one did not. It seems entirely random.
Like others said, I hope it’s a glitch from what they’re doing with squads. I don’t see the necessity of having different colored dots for 4 party members.
Interesting, I specifically made Meteorlogicus for the purple glow and lightning footsteps. I think it looks cool.
And I made it because the original design had none of that. I hope you can understand the frustration of spending lots of gold to craft a skin, and months later having it changed to something you didn’t want.
Also what’s up with Anet not mentioning these changes in the patch notes?
The thing I’m not understanding is: People make legendaries for the looks/effects. I haven’t heard too many people state that they made their legendary simply for selectable stats. Once we see how raids are and how necessary stat swapping is, we can make the argument that people craft them for the utility. Anyhow, we’re spending thousands of gold on a skin with a special aura and sound. Why change it? I am now stuck with either annoying a lot of people (and myself), or feeling bummed about my baby doll asura not having her cute pony bow.
I’m worried about the future of my Flameseeker Prophecies.
Some of us obtained them because of what they were at the time we decided to craft or buy them! For me personally: meteorlogicus was a beautiful piece of art before adding purple glow and lightning footsteps. The cloud footsteps and bluish white glow would have been enough; a soft, classy addition.
The Dreamer sounds like I’m torturing horses. The new sound is so shrill it pains my ears. I had to use it for an extensive time last night and had to turn my sound off. I’ve now skinned over a legendary for the second time.
We don’t have open world PvP; nobody is going to kill you wantonly. PvE is not server-dependent, aside from NA and EU being separated. PvP requires you to queue a match or go into an arena voluntarily. WvW is server-specific, and the only place you might be killed if just running around, but again you would be going into the map voluntarily.
Finished teq, left the client open and downloading, left the house
Anet just doesn’t like conjures, they don’t know how to gently swing the nerf hammer. Fiery greatsword got turned to dust and the ice bow will almost definitely go the same way.
Ice bow will still be used (by me anyway) for deep freeze, vulnerability, and the 4-skill for groups of enemies. Or maybe I will dust off my scepter and go back to being a might/fury bot.
I’m looking forward to not seeing pugs type “ice bow, ice bow, ice bow” in chat every time an ele is in party, as if it’s their holy savior is here come to beat the dungeon for them. One group was so starry eyed they said it didn’t matter where we stack for alpha as long as we have ice bow (seemingly they had no idea it has a cooldown and defiance is a thing).
This has bothered me for a long time, for the reasons in the long post above. I’m obsessive about my bank organization and it drives me crazy to see stacks of less than 250 in my bank because it pulls from there first.
I don’t have a parent who plays, but I have a few friends in game who are older (40+). If she does start playing, try to help her find a nice casual guild. Not to stereotype, but in my experience some of the older folks have some trouble controlling their characters and doing the more difficult content like fractals usually take longer to finish). This will ensure she’s around people with patience as she’s learning. Not saying she’s going to have trouble playing, but I have seen some people be rude to my older friends and I wouldn’t want her to experience that.
Bought the game in 2013, but have not received the Royal Guard outfit. Are these still being sent out?
At this point you should submit a support ticket. I think they were all supposed to be sent out over a weekend.
Most difficult fract is the one you run with a perpetual afker, one whiner, one guy who rushes ahead all the time because he has to go soon and one guy who is really chill and fun, probably your friend, but dies in the first 3 seconds every single time you pull even one mob.
Haha so much this.
But seriously, the most annoying is Snowblind. I’ve been lucky to get pretty smooth groups in it lately (or at least groups that can recover if we do pull multiple ice elementals). I facepalm every time someone runs straight through the veterans on the way back. Usually I just laugh and YOLO with the rest of the group if they won’t try to do it in an organized fashion.
2a. Yes. IIRC, you will obtain the precursor in raids.
2e. I agree. Since we can swap stats on ascended easily now, legendaries need a little something to make them worth having. Especially with legendary armor coming in and potentially having to change builds for raids.
Hope y’all have a chance to stop by!
I was there but opted to remain anonymous. The Arenanet booth looked awesome and it was cool to see some of the people in-person who design this awesome game! Thanks for the tickets and HoT swag.
Farm up your materials and gold but don’t craft the gifts until you have the most time consuming and expensive parts out of the way. That way you’ll still be able to use them if you change your mind.
I find Bolt to be a more fitting weapon for mesmers. It all depends on how you’re designing your characters! Also this weekend is the last beta weekend so you can play revenant with sword and see how you like it.
Just a small tip to anyone starting elementalist: If you put your hero points into the air trait line, the first trait is Zephyr’s Speed which gives you a 25% movement speed increase while attuned to air. Alternatively, you can put some points into signets to get the signet of air, which does the same thing (but in any attunement). Since new players are usually moving around maps a lot, I find it to be helpful
And as others have said, your weapon choice isn’t a big deal at lower levels. I leveled with dagger/dagger for a bit on my newest ele. The skills cast faster and allowed me to hit more targets than staff. Even though staff ele is the most powerful, there will be times when other weapon sets are a better option so it’s a good idea to learn them all. Have fun!
Person need water and some person give it to him. Tonight on news at 11.
That is very big news here in California. We can’t afford to be giving our precious water to these outsiders!
You get the t-shirt from playing the beta at twitch con.
Source: I have one.
You can probably custom order a sticker of the GW2 logo and stick it on a white toaster :p. I’m sure you can find a website that would let you custom order all types of apparel, and as long as you aren’t selling it I don’t think Anet minds.
I think I’ve made 12 legendaries now. Maybe 14, I’ve lost count. I like to make and sell them
Start by making a list of what you need. Every legendary needs:
Gift of Fortune
Gift of Mastery
Gift of (Legendary)
Precursor
Gift of Mastery and Gift of Kudzu are the (arguably) easiest parts. I always work on these first. Meanwhile, make your mystic clovers because you will get some tier 6 materials from the same recipe. That leaves the expensive parts: the precursor and the rest of the tier 6 materials. I would gouge out my eyeballs if I did Silverwastes all day, but if you can do it, people swear it’s the best gold maker. I like to do a variety: a few world bosses, a few dungeons, one or two vine wrath and chests. Clear bank: Sell anything that is not an ingredient in your legendary unless you have an immediate use for it. You’d be surprised how much “deposit collectibles” adds up.
I don’t recommend playing the mystic forge. Salvage your rares for ecto and once you get 250, sell off the rest. I always get my precursor last because you never know when you’ll get lucky
Fairly uncommon?? Everytime we have that fractal for the past 4weeks (and i ran fractal daily), all the pugs tend to ran there and expected me to join them. So i doubted it “fairly uncommon” at this point, it’s frustrating since i can put “no bug moss” in my lfg but getting cliffside is rng. I guess i need to also put “no bug archdiviner” in my lfg from now on…..sign
I was forced, for the first time, to fight archdiviner this way today. The worst thing is everyone in the party was ranged (3 ele, 1 ranger, 1 engi) and I thought people did this for easy melee…
I feel like I need to start adding “no jerks” to my LFG descriptions. Seriously the last few level 19 and under fractals I have started end up with someone in the group who is determined to create a lot of stress and/or be impatient with newbies. Do people forget that someone new to the game can quite quickly obtain 10 AR and do up to scale 19?
I did one today and one of the pugs insisted on running the show. Whatever, I’m pretty passive and just go with what the group wants. They wouldn’t stop picking on the ranger (asked if they were a re-youknowwhat, told them they should just keep their bear on, blaming them for knockback, running ahead starting fights so they can’t respawn, etc). Anyway we get Cliffside and they insist on the rock exploit. I tell them I’ve never done it that way (in case there’s something I should know). They ask me, “well can you survive without it?” I hold my tongue.. I’m reward level 50, done hundreds of fractals and this was the first time I was asked (forced) to use that exploit. We wipe the first time, and rather than start a kittenstorm I just go with doing it again. At the end I simply said “that was interesting. I’m glad my friends don’t run it that way.” To which they comment, “you and your friends probably don’t run over level 10.” So I let them know I do 50’s quite frequently… Someone says something about how they’d hate to see the number of deaths in a 50, which I respond I see more deaths at lower levels (due to inexperience). Ofc they tell me I’m wrong… at which point I’m just like “yeah you’re right,” and blocked them. I never, ever want to have to play with someone like that again. If you’re reading here, I think you need a vacation dude/lady.
I then proceeded to join a “scale 45 chill run” with a great group of people and finish in good time.
I won’t even start with how I’m treated sometimes when I run these on my alt account with 1700 AP. People see low AP and just assume you don’t know anything. I feel really badly for new players trying to get into fractals.
And I did have a level 38 thief with 300-something AP join my scale 50 fractal the other day… I asked if they had a level 80 with 70 AR. They never spoke so unfortunately we had to kick them with no explanation.
Well it’s not quite the Minstrel, but… Congrats! I got a fairly pricey exotic from one of those green bags some time ago.
My first precursor was rather unexpected as well, getting Dawn from 3 rare armors and a weapon in the forge.
If they are selectively punishing people then how are they targeting them? Forum posts?
I got forum infraction once because I say not nice thing about arena net. It seem like all I get for few week was junk drop. This of course was RNG work not conspiracy. Just thought funny.
I got a forum infraction once and promptly received The Colossus.
I got a tequatl hoard the very day I complained on the forum about killing him multiple times every day for months and never getting one.
They need another LFG tool for those selling rides. I hate seeing that listed crap as well. Makes me think I am playing a Pay2Win game….
It won’t happen. They allow selling paths under the loophole of “it’s still for grouping.” Currently, they will punish offendors with warnings/bans if you provide proof but they will not compensate your gold or time lost. If they put an lfg tab for this purpose, it would look like intended game design and people would expect compensation when they get burned
It’s the same with converting pristine relics to fractal relics to spirit shards. You confirm each purchase with pristine, then open all the bags. Then confirm each purchase of Dessa’s journal, then double click all of those. And there is no way to line up the “Buy” button on top of the “Yes/Confirm” button.
Set your interface size to small, then it will line up.
Oh! Thanks I’ll do that next time
They could always introduce ascended or legendary recipes that require chef and jeweler to 500. It doesn’t necessarily have to be trinkets or food as the end result, but Gifts that go toward legendary gear.
Guys I am just. . . laughing really. Please don’t take this as bragging.
I farmed my heart out testing the odds of getting a key since the change.
0 keys. 20 BLC. 1 precursor.LOL I can get a precursor easier than a key. I just . . . xD
Nice! I know of two people in my guild that had key drops this week. I’ve been leveling a new character so I’m killing more mobs with hearts, eotm, and story dungeons. No drop yet!
I didn’t want to go back through 12 pages to be sure no one else mentioned it- I decided to level a new ele. I got a key for level 10 yesterday and for level 40 today. If I have a character without level 40 story done, I will try to get it done this week to be sure only level 10 is impacted.
Success! I got a key for level 40 story on two different characters today.
I did the opposite. I did the 40 story soon after the patch and got the 40 key. A few days later I did a new character and the 10 story, NO KEY.
I guess the level 10 key cant be the second one in the week, no matter what level the first was.
That’s interesting, you should report it as a bug.
I’m sure player testing will reveal it soon. I would assume it uses a CD (the reward gets a 168hr CD when initially procced) but thats just a guess atm.
It’s unfortunate that players have to test this when Anet could simply give more specifics. The information will be out by next week anyway, at the cost of some player doing level 10 story every day, getting no reward.

Just sad story to keep the topic bumped:
I used my very last bonfire (karma selected) at teq last week and then was disconnected 2 minutes before he spawned. The map organized so nicely, defenses filled quickly, then poof! there go my karma boosts!
