Diminishing Returns not WORKING AS INTENDED(CAPS)

The system is buggy atm. I ran CoF once and Honor of waves(Kodan one) story mode for the first time ever yesterday and a guild mate and i received diminishing returns for both.

A guild mate and i both had a bug tonight where we received diminished returns and should not have. He got them on our first CoF run and the rest of us got full money and xp. Then we ran Honor of waves(Kodan one) story mode for the first time ever and both he and i only received the 2 silver and 17k xp diminished returns and the rest of our party got full rewards.

Dungeons/Farming: what i think is common sense.

I was fine with farming CoF 69 times for 1380 tokens getting 25 silver and about 200k experience each run.

I am not fine with getting 2 kittenin’ silver and 17k exp after completing a buffed CoF.

I’m fine with exotics taking time to get. But, people want to farm for gear even if its just for looks. You can’t make things take forever to get so that it requires farming and then put in anti-farming code.

Just like you can’t make dungeons really hard but still make it take 7 to 8 runs to get ONE piece of gear and then punish people for running it multiple times in a row. What sense does that make? Like i said, make dungeons hard, but make it take 4 to 5 runs to get one piece of gear and don’t punish me for running it more than once in a row.
YOU have a mechanic where if I want a full set of gear I need to run a dungeon many times, why are you punishing me for doing that(xp/gold diminishing returns).

It’s common sense people.

I agree. Not only are tailor’s and Leatherworkers not able to just gather their main material from a node they have to salvage everything, not allowing them to just vendor greens, blues, and whites which is a really good way to make money.

On the otherhand i’m also a cook and would like to see a better way to get eggs. Maybe cut down on the butter and chocolate and just give “bundles of ingredients” which would contain eggs, butter, chocolate, etc. This way it would only take one loot spot out of the heavy bags(etc.) and leave room for other materials again. I guess then you’d be getting a bag inside a bag and thats getting into some Inception territory.

Farm? No, no, no, my good man. You can’t farm in GW2. Dudes in Anet think farming is bad, mmmkey? You just need to play for 89 years and wait for random powerful blood drops once a month to craft that armor.

Yea i’m none too happy with the farming changes either….what if i like to grind mobs in the same area? I like just killing things and seeing what drops…but, thats for another thread.

Anyway, I committed minor genocide on the moa’s in Frostgorge Sound yesterday. Thinking, hey ill kill level 80 birds so i at least have a shot at some other good stuff dropping besides eggs. I killed probably 75 moa’s in about 20 to 30 minutes(they respawn fast) and got a grand total of one(1) egg. So i just bought them from the trading post while they are still cheep. Guy has to get his omnomberry bar fix somehow right?

ok i had a big post written out and i deleted it because it sounded whiny. In sort, where is the best place to farm eggs and butter. Read on if you feel like hearing some of my opinions on cooking, otherwise thanks for the tips on where to farm eggs.

I will add a little whine that cooking in its current state is ridiculous. It was already the most complex craft, the amount of ingredient options is staggering and now that we have to rely on drops its pretty much useless….eggs really?! I have to go out and farm them on purpose now?! How is killing swarms of moa’s rewarding and engaging?

So, before the nerf cooking was easy to level but that did not cut down on its complexity and it was and still is very counter-intuitive. Now its just unfun.

My opinion: Underpowered Engineer - It is realy bad at pvp and pve

Go play an Ele, then you will know what underpowered actually is. Trust me there is a reason that the ele is the most underrepresented class in PvP. Engi’s have a few different viable builds, on is con dmg pistols and the other is power/cc rifle build.

Story Quests: How do I solo 10 mobs?

I did all of the story quests solo as a staff ele. Yes i died on occasion and got frustrated a lot(claw island anyone?).

For your specific story quest and the sword/shields spawning on you i used the following set up.
First the utility skills. Arcane wave, arcane shield, and the asura racial Pain inverter(player based aoe that damages and adds confusion), and the elemental elite skill.
Basically, run around that area in water attun. and when spawns pop, drop your slow and your ice spike(4 and 2 respectively on staff). You now have slowed mobs with 6 stacks of vulnerability on. Switch to earth and use unsteady ground(another slow) and then use eruption, now you have crippled mobs with vuln. and 6 stacks of bleeds. Switch air and drop static field to stun them and then go fire and use lava font, the number 3 burning ability and then while standing in your lava font use arcane wave and pain inverter(or other aoe if not an asura), then use burning retreat and let the mobs walk through your fire trail. They should be pretty much dead after that and you should have taken minimal damage but if you need to just repeat. Arcane shield is your oh crap button and the AoE it does when it breaks does substantial damage.

Thats for ele, now if you bring a warrior buddy to help just stand there while he charges then uses 100 blades and continue on your way.
