I agree with the OP. All mobs have a chance to drop Globs of essence too which is need for making ascended gear.
I have to agree with moosie on this. One thing you mentioned was a bug, the rest are just things you need to learn to handle. Yes, some story modes are a little over tuned. But you should never be able to just go into a new dungeon and zerg lol the whole thing without learning some strategies through wipes or close calls, if it were too easy you would just be on these forums whining about there not being any challenge.
Dogs and necro’s are very manageable with the right skills equipped and strategies to manage fears and KD’s. You mention WoW a lot and you mention that there is nothing that TELL’s you how to do boss fights in GW2. You’re right, you have to figure it out for yourself(or google it), GW2 doesn’t spoon feed you strategies like WoW does…sorry. Once you learn the correct ways to deal with mob abilities things get far more manageable, not faceroll easy but manageable.
Some tips for TA specifically would be to bring CC of your own and time it with the CC of your group members, or time it to save group member that have been CC’d. Bring at least one stun breaker for trash packs and don’t use it unless you are going to die if you don’t. If one dog jumps on you, wait a second to see if more dogs jump on you before you use the stun breaker. Have a dedicated blossom killer in the areas where blossoms are dangerous.
Some good points OP. I personally don’t have much trouble finding the one pug i need to fill my group of me and 3 RL friends but i see your point.
To the replies to the OP….Realy? you’re going to defend the FotM leveling system by saying hes lazy and should use a 3rd party site?….no, just no. There is no reason we should have to resort to using 3rd party sites, the fact that an lfg site exists shows that there are major flaws in the system. Anet(colin i think) is quoted in a video saying, "no more waiting spamming the city with LF healer….well now we spam LF fractals 4…its far worse and you shouldn’t defend a crap system. You’ve found work around, thats great, but you shouldn’t need work arounds.
All of the new weapon skins are Account Bound. So you can choose which character to send them to.
There is also a change going into the current chest given exotic armors and weapons that will make them Account Bound and Soulbind on Use. So you can send those extra armors and things you get to your bank for your other characters.
Not a huge fan of the exotic drops being bound at all. I’d rather they be soulbound on use and thats it. Those of us that are not dungeon handicapped can get a full set of exotics for alts in a week or so. For those that can’t run dungeons it would be nice if they could buy them from the TP. I salvage them for ecto’s and it feels like a waste.

I’m in the buff other dungeons crowd. Make lodestones and T5/6 mats drop more in higher dungeons and make bosses and boss chests in higher/harder dungeons have better loots.

Our group has started 4 manning content due to everyone wanting to skip(we have a solid 4 on at all times and have to pug a fifth). In our experience it is usually faster to just kill everything. Like in AC heading toward the last boss in P1 and 3. Running all the way around and skipping packs of gravelings that take about 45 seconds to kill is just asking for someone to get pounced on and murdered, then you have to either run back and rez or wait for them to try run the gauntlet again, alone.
Plus, we 4 man and kill all packs(even the “pieces of the scepter” packs in AC) and we still do dungeons too fast and get hit with DR after 4 or 5 dungeons….why hit DR faster?
Its not Jormag, its a minion of Jormag. Same with Grenth, Dwayna etc. People need to stop stomping the lore.
I, and possibly most people, are well aware that it is the Claw of Jormag, and Keeper of Grenth, etc. Its just what people call them in game, you know, shorthand.
This is absolutely ridiculous. So explain why this jewelery is 15 times more materials to craft? I’ll tell you why.

This is a blatant attempt by Anet to make you spend REAL money for GEAR. Poor show Anet, poor show.
No reward for the players time. It’s really that simple. There are 2 main thing players do something for. 1. That feeling that at any moment they might get that epic drop. 2. Constant action, killing and looting, with karma and loot as a reward to work toward a larger overall reward/goal. You could put “fun” in here as #3 but whatever.
With the plinx nerf you killed #2. Cursed shore is empty now because there is nothing you can do that keeps your attention 80 to 90% of the time. No one wants to sit around and wait for stuff to happen or kill normal mobs by themselves.
Event chests loot is killing #1. Why travel to Jormag, Grenth, Dwayna, or any event with a chest and spend 15 to 30 minutes possibly dying to get a chest that has greens and blues in it. Blues sell for about 50 copper a piece. If i get 4 blues and then 1.86 silver from the event i get a total of 3.86 silver for a chest event, it cost me 3 silver to travel there, I know i have the other loot to sell from mobs, but with jormag there is very little of that. Blues and greens are throw away/vendor item in GW2 and the drop rate of rare/exo gear is just too low for me to care.
My suggestion for chest events of level 65+. Event chests should drop a bag of random T6 mats(maybe like 10 total). Chest should drop at least 1 rare for each person 80 to 100% of the time. And should have a 2 to 5% chance to drop a random non-precursor exotic. And a 0.5%(or whatever it is now if higher) chance to drop a precursor.
What would this do? People would flood to chest events and the term MMO would actually be true for GW2, high level zones would have a healthy constant population. Ectos, T6 mats, and precursor prices would drop slightly.

I agree with the OP. I too have about 722 hours into GW2 and only have about 50 to 75 of each T6 mat, except ancient bones of course, i’ve had 250 of those for awhile and have been selling any others i get.
Gold should not be the answer for every ingredient needed for the legendary weapons/ascended items, it just makes the gold farmers that much happier, ecto’s, T6 mats, lodestones, precursors, clovers(and icy runestones of course) are all basically obtained by gold because the drop rates on them are horrendous.
Sadly after the plinx nerf the best way to make money is to run around the high level zones BY YOURSELF and gather materials on multiple level 80’s. That is not what an MMO is about. Reward people for their time and for doing the fun things in the game.

my guild mates and i have actually noticed a drop in ecto’s received from rares as well.
Passion fruit, Karka shells, and passion flowers need collectable slots in the bank.

Our group(War, War, Guard, Necro, yes only 4) doesn’t mind the swamp one either. You can get unlucky a few times but usually its a one shot and a 5 to 10 minute fractal. We actually hate the char one the most.
I will say that the Giant Jellyfish is a little underwhelming as well. We found that dragging him to all of the electricity wasn’t rewarding enough and the DPS we lose by kiting him around is not made up by the electrocute, so its faster for us to just keep him in one spot and murder him. Even at difficulty 8ish his abilities are not dangerous.
Perhaps make the Jellyfish take 50 to 100% more damage for 20 seconds after an electrocute but also make him hit 50 to 100% harder for the same duration, or make him spawn twice as many little jellies for the 20 seconds(i don’t know just ideas). Then you get a little more of a risk vs reward scenario.
Overall though, great dungeons, i hope to see more like these in the future.

The community came through in a big way tonight. I wish i could say the same for Anet.
Anet should take notes from the GW2 community on this one, actually help people out with information and fun. Thanks to all who helped try and salvage this terrible event, but in the end the fun haters at Anet screwed us all.

Life is not fair. The event was advertised and everyone had a chance to attend. I spent 2.5 hours doing the event and got 2 exotics and 2 rares which netted me a total of 2 gold. I’m fine with that, i would have liked a precursor but that’s what RNG is. Its time = reward, i could make 2g in 2.5 hours w/o this event.
No one owes you anything, the sooner you deal with that the better you will do at life.
The state of pugging dungeons in GW2 is ridiculous, you are creating lazy gamers. People skip mob packs that take 45 seconds to kill and have chances to drop decent loot. Sometimes it takes longer to skip because someone will die and then you just have to go back and rez them, wipe(fractals), or wait for them to run back on their own(old dungeons).
I can understand areas that are designed for leashing, like the Swamp Fractal. But other then a few rare areas like that, please make mob pack that you want people to kill not leash.
Our guild group gets a consistent 4 on every night and we usually don’t even bother with pugs because we don’t want to deal with someone who wants to skip everything, even though it might take us 5 extra minutes total. So far we’ve 4 manned level 6 difficulty fractals and even had to 3 man the level 6 boss fractal because of the DC bug, but there will be a point where we will need 5 to progress and it would be nice if killing packs was the norm again.
Like i said, its a rumor, on mmorpg i think? It would make this dungeon work like a typical raid reset in say, WoW. Not saying its good or bad just a rumor.
There is an unconfirmed rumor that your difficulty level gets reset once a week. So you get to lvl 10 difficulty week 1 and then it resets and you have to start at 1 again. This would solve your issue.
Yes, the entire new zone will be filled with them.
The jumping puzzles in the fractals are quite literally the easiest in the game. Are people really complaining about pressing “W+SpaceBar”? Gamers these days….

8 swamp – even though with a guild group and some luck it can be done in about 5 minutes.

4 manned through the first miniboss(fractal 7) so far…amazing fun. Golem bosses are by far the funniest.
Guilds runs and good groups are really important here. Keep in mind these are new dungeons with new mechanics so people will need to learn.
Our guild group has 4 manned through 6 fractals and the mini boss(7th fractal) so far and we are still rolling. Nothing has been overly difficult yet.

They did it because people were crying about waypoint zerging bosses. This is what they came up with. They should have made waypoints but make them not active until the group was out of combat. It works more like a traditional wipe mechanic now.
Did it with 3 pugs and 2 on vent. Its like the torch lighting in CoF P3. Takes coordination. Bring sprints and condition removal. Not saying its fun or easy just possible.
I agree with the OP. Now that there is a dedicated team banning bots there is no need for another restrictive system. Sometimes i just want to mindlessly kill the same mobs for a drop(like armored scales for a legendary). Also now that plinx is nerfed to the ground there is no reason for karma DR either.
1 Make huge long grinds necessary for attaining the best stuff in the game(legendarys).
2 Put in a system that discourages and punishes you for grinding.

Actually with the right build healing signet returns 5+K hp per 25 seconds. So its on par with the other heals except you don’t have to wait for a cast time and remember to cast it.

There you go. Great damage and survivability. Amazing group support with shouts and soldier runes.
It is very doable. There are videos on this very forum of groups doing it(one mine). My group of guardian, necro, warror/thief, warrior/ele, and pug/mezmer do it all the time. Mark targets, group things up, use reflect walls. The guardian seems to be the one we miss the most if he’s gone we usually can’t kill everything.
But with our perfect group of; guardian, warrior, warrior, necro, mezmer this room gets destroyed and we kill everything and then wait for magg to finish the last 3%.
It’s awesome because we usually pug one and they start to run to the entrance to do the kite method and I’m always like, “nah, kill my marks”. Pug says, “all 5 inside? really?”. “yes”.
Then we crush everything and the pugs always say its the most fun they’ve ever had during that event. Honestly it’s my favorite room/event in any dungeon.
Yea i’m not really sure. I was under the idea it reset after you leave the dungeon too, until today. Now i think if you enter it evaluates your number of completions and then after you do a set of 3 mini dungeons you go back to the hub and it scales you up permanently.
Sounds like its saved permanently per player. This will create an issue for pugs since it scales to the lowest common denominator. I’m curious about this too.
Some questions/clarity requests for the fractals please.
1. Will the DR system not be enabled for this dungeon? The dungeon promotes running it over and over and if my group wants to run it all day long on a Saturday I would like to be able to do so without being hit with DR.
2. Whats the cap number on difficulty? We’ll count each group of 3 mini dungeons as 1 level. How many levels before cap? 20, 50, 100? I ask because our guild group is usually short 1 person so we pug, this creates an issue if we want to keep progressing because we will have to find someone around the same level. But if a cap is reachable it won’t be so bad after awhile since everyone will reach it at some point. It would be nice to have a counter for this somewhere so everyone knows how may times they have run it and we don’t have to keep track on our own.

Only rings and backpacks are coming out with this patch. They don’t use runes so you’re good. As they release all of the ascended armor i highly doubt they will scrap their rune system.
yea, i’ve done the same but i find that i don’t use warhorn enough and i like the group heal from the shouts so less CD on them is good. I switch axe/warhorn up a lot too. Gun/hammer/shield for different stuff.
Figured i’d share this build. I’ve been using it for some time and it is very good imo. I run with a guardian, necro, warrior, and a pug usually. Brings decent support and survivability and great damage. Critiques always welcome, probably not a new build but figured i’d post anyway.
6/6 soldier runes(tough/vit/shouts remove conditions).
Full power/pre/crit dmg armor except for 2 rings that are power/vit/crit dmg.

Please… read previous posts and try to understand what you are talking about before making this assumption. Its not gear dependant but being “keyed” to get pass content.
I’m well aware what infusion was/is in GW1. But from what i gather from the information provided infusion will work a little differently in GW2 with different slot types per piece of gear. You can’t just do an infusion run and all your gear is infused anymore, it sounds like it will work more like socketing gems currently works.

If I read the PR notes right, apparently the paths will be randomized upon entry. Meaning that your party won’t be able to choose which path you want to do. If you get an “easy” path, then sweet! If you get the hard path … well, I guess you just have to deal with it.
I was wondering about that. I wonder how they will deal with people simply exiting and reforming their group until they get the path they want.
easy, you have to do the set of 3 paths given and then you get a break spot and another set of 3 given with ramped up difficulty, if you leave and reform you start back at the first set of 3.
If your 80, get a pug group for AC p2 or CoF p1(or 2). These are by far the easiest dungeons and so many players know them that if it’s your first time in there it won’t matter, that’s how easy they are. You could literally do all 5 dungeons you need for your monthly in 1 to 2 hours, these paths take 20 to 30 minutes a piece. There are people constantly spamming in LA for AC’s, its not impossible at all.
I don’t really enjoy WvW but getting 50 kills for the monthly took me about 2 hours so who really cares. They can’t cater to everyone and the monthly is not required for anything, the karma and coins are nice but they aren’t just going to give them away for nothing. What would you like one of the achievements to be? “Run around the mystic forge 4 times?” “But i don’t like running in circles!!!!!!”
