I wish i would have kept track before last night. I put 144 rare GS’s in last night and got 10 exo’s, then used those 10 exo’s in the toilet as well. 0 precursors. I’ve probably put close to 500 in total doing about 30 or so a week for about 1.5 months, but i only started keeping track last night.
I’m curious about this too. We actually joke with one of our guildies that he’s permanently DR’d because he never gets anything and/or always gets less loot then everyone else. Say we do the arah chain event and everyone in our group runs no MF and gets 30 bags, he will always get less, say 20. It’s fishy.
I put mine on the fridge.
I haven’t had to cheese this daily yet because my group runs fractals or CoE almost everyday. But we did think that you could go to the fractals lab with a friend and jump off the lab platform which downs you and ports you back to the lab, rinse and repeat.
Would love to hear an official word on this with percentages of what changed. These, “figure it out for yourself” vague patch notes have got to go.

Finally the temple events are hard as they should have always been.
i dont mind hard, but circles that take up most of the room with .5 seconds to dodge that kill you if you dont have full hp are a bit much for an open world pug event
The giant circles that damage you then port you to the ceiling and drop you so you take fall damage thus taking you straight to defeated(all the way dead) state are pretty fun, and by fun i mean the worst mechanic ever.
I am like the OP, sometimes i like to just kill stuff and see what i get, or kill stuff that drops what i need/want.
DR was implemented under the guise of a bot deterrent, as we the players all know, bots were quite rampant in the past and Anet has gotten a pretty good handle on it now with their dedicated team of bot detectors and some new code. DR will and has never stopped botting, bots will just add a line to their code to switch areas every hour. DR will and has only ever hurt the legitimate players.
Ask yourself this. Now that bots are fairly rare and there is new code and a dedicated team assigned to banning them, why is DR still in effect? The amount of mats required for the best infusions and some other high end gear is ridiculous, 250 of this 100 of that, but you can’t farm for it. They want you to need gold, and they limit your ability to make gold or farm the mats directly. It makes the fastest and easiest option the Gem Store. It’s not an accident.
May be a bug, may be a change either way it’s dumb.
We are one of those crazy groups that like to kill most mob packs. Well in the snow fractal the 3 norn and wolf packs after the giant icicle use to drop some great loot, T6 totems and fangs and usually someone in the group would get a glob. But, last night we got the snow fractal three times(10, 14, and 15 i think?) and killed every pack the first 2 times and no one got a single drop of any kind, so obviously the third time in there we just skipped the mobs.
The reason i think it’s a bug is because there would be no point to taking the loot from these very easily skippable mobs that don’t respawn. Perhaps these mob packs got tagged the same as the packs that continue to spawn at the beginning of the fractal by the giant bond fire?
this was always the plan, they were free and unrestricted right away to balance servers then they went to once per week and now they are going to paid. Always been the plan, they have been open about it the whole time, not sure what you’re mad about.

I can’t help but feel most of you don’t know what you are talking about. Agony does percentage based damage, the only way to reduce it would be with Agony Resistance (which makes a gigantic difference) or dodging each boss’ agony attack. For example, Raving Asura’s agony attack would be those electric balls he throws at you, Bloomhunger’s is his poison grenade things, Mossman’s are his thrown axes, etc etc
Regardless, toughness/vitality will do absolutely nothing for you when it comes to agony.
True but, agony is also a “tick” of damage. Lots of the posts talk about passive healing which does help with agony. Also nearly every agony attack also has a straight damage portion(Mossmans axes, dredge suits ground pound), so more general survivability does help.
First i recommend working on more agony resist, 15 is pretty easy to get and helps quite a bit.
Second, learn the bosses “tells” for their agony attack and dodge them, it takes practice but is very doable and completely negates the damage from agony.
Third, not sure what gear you are running but if you are glass cannon spec with glass cannon gear and you run with pugs you will die a lot in the higher fractals.
I run full pow/pre/crit dmg gear except for my 2 accessories which are toughness/pow/pre. Soldier runes in my gear and a 20/20/0/30/0 shout build. Your shouts will heal you and your party for about 1200 each and remove conditions from you and your party. I run the signet heal and never activate it, it heals for about 200/sec, which over 25 seconds(CD of other heals) is 5000 hp without having to cast anything ever.
You won’t to as much damage of course but you don’t do any damage when your downed or dead. My 100 blades do 12K to 20K damage depending on buffs.

Remove MF, increase drop rate for everything as if everyone has 120% MF. Its a worthless mechanic.
very good post. I think Anet needs to take a hard look at rewarding people fairly for normal play and stop nerfing drops and money gains and forcing people to either play the TP or buy gems for gold. Make acquiring gold a side effect of having fun through normal gameplay(dungeons, WvW, events, etc.)
Could this be something similar to the when the dungeon DR system was implemented and certain people were getting permanently DR’d? I see a few post in this thread where people say “after a new build” it seem to get fixed for awhile, then maybe they get flagged for DR and never get unflagged.
Just a thought. I will be doing some testing this weekend with general drops and with magic find. I know RNG is RNG but there was a 2 week time period where exo’s were falling like candy in fractals and now my group is lucky to come out of there with rares.

Me and another warrior dungeon buddy have ran this build in general PvE and Fractals with great success. Shouts heal and remove conditions from you and your party with soldier runes and allow you to take some hits. I use GS mainly but i switch to axe/horn for some fights and LB for ranged fights of course(gun would be fine too i just prefer the LB).
Gear: Full Pow/Pre/Crit dmg except for 2 acc’s that are Tough/pow/pre.

Going good, still takes about 13 seconds to get a pug to run with our 4 man group in fractals. Normal dungeons take maybe 5 minutes to find a pug, but that is to be expected since fractals are newer.
How is failing at being a doom and gloom bear going? Why not just play the game if you like it? Or do you only play what other people like?
Good videos. However i find it odd that your guardian doesn’t give everyone stability on the cliffside boss. You can avoid the stun when you first pull the boss and every stun after a gong hit if you do so, just a little free dps is all.
5 will do until about lvl 15 then i’d shoot for 10/15, obviously the more you have the less trouble you will have and the less worried you will need to be about dodging agony abilities.
The max you can get now is 30(afaik). Back and rings can be infused to have a base of 5 AR plus the infusion slot. Dulfy.net has a very good write up on how to infuse each piece, but keep in mind that infused rings “can” drop from 20 plus fractals so you don’t really need to infuse your rings if you are feeling lucky.
I would suggest slowly gathering the mats to make it yourself. It’s really not that bad. I’ve been at it for about 2 months with fairly normal play(granted normal play for me is about 30 hrs a week).
I have everything but the precursor and the gift of magic and everything was attained without buying gold from Anet or the Spammers. I would be a lot closer if i didn’t level 3 characters to 80 and fully exotic geared them through dungeons and crafting, or if i hadn’t crafted 3 sets of exotic gear for my current main to try out different specs…so many wasted mats to figure out i liked my original spec the best lol.
If you want to just straight out buy it? Sadly flipping on the TP is the fastest way to make money, i just can bring myself to stand at the TP for hours and hours.
You bought an MMO, Massively MULTIPLAYER online game and you’re mad you need to play with others…… It’s like if i were to buy a RPG like Dragon Age or Skyrim and then get mad that i can’t group up with other players.
Just LFG in Lions Arch for whatever dungeon you want or use the LFG site. It’s not hard.

I would have a minipet out constantly if they didn’t always get deposited into my bank with the “deposit all collectibles” button. Could you make it so minipets are unaffected by this option?

Crystal Desert as well. First wall after every patch works correctly then it breaks and the wall is in the ground and a pain to target and attack.

As someone who already has their 100 lodestones, i still agree with this idea.
It’s been mentioned in other threads but this needs its own imo.
When finishing the Uncatagorized Fractal, Killing the 4 kitty golems. The cut scene plays(or doesn’t) and you don’t get the ready check to move on.
OR
If this fractal is your 3rd on an even difficulty level you will be prompted to go back to the Lab instead of going to the Jade Maw. This in particular happened to our group last night, we didn’t skip any mobs and did the fractal legit.

I don’t like magic find either. I say increase the drop rate of everything in the world so it’s like everyone has 100 to 150% magic find and then get rid of the stat except for boosters and food. This game is all about looks and i have to wear my crappy looking magic find gear 80% of the time…..no thanks.
You always , dodge, nuke-hit, selfbuff-debuff. And that can be summarized as a normal dd in any other game. Its quite standard. And no matter how you “specialize” you will still be a simple dd in this game.
Good post of your opinion, to each their own, i agree that other share it.
However the quote above makes me think you haven’t played in an organized guild group with people that are good at their class. Trust me you will notice a huge difference if your entire party is “just dd”, a good warrior/guardian and a bad one are very easy to differentiate.
GW2 is about everyone helping everyone. Regen, stability, aegis, party wide condition removal, fury, might, and straight up group heals make all the difference when timed correctly. I actually dodge about 60% less when i’m in a guild group vs a pug because i know my guardian friend is going to have aegis up when its needed.
The problem isn’t that GW2 has no trinity its that the general MMO population can’t adjust to a different type of gameplay. Once people get out of your type of mindset where; “i dont heal the party because i’m dps” is standard, pugs and groups will succeed far more often and people will have a lot more fun.
Our group of 4 RL friends always pugs one and 90% of the time the pug says the run was the best he’s ever done and they ask to be friended and contacted whenever we run again. The CoF Magg “kite” bomb event is one big contributor to this. We kill it, every pug runs to the entrance to kite it and i have to tell them, no kiting, just kill my marks. Some are baffled and ask, “really? everyone inside?”. After we crush the room and then dance around for magg to finish the bomb event the pugs are usually telling us how they have never done it legit and it was so much more fun.
GW2 doesn’t need a trinity, there are plenty of WoW clones around for people to get their trinity fix with. GW2 needs more of the playerbase to break out of an old mindset and work together. I’m not saying some fights aren’t a snoozefest but all games can use improvement is some areas. But thats my opinion and we are both entitled to our own.

Pick up healing shouts line. Pick up both GS main traits. Good mix of damage/utility. Gear according to your situation (if you pug alot, i’d bring more defensive oriented gear, otherwise, go for zerkers if you play with guild and/or guardians alot)
I run this build too but i wear full power/prec/crit dmg gear. Then again i run in a guild group most of the time too.
@OP, i too played a healer in every other MMO and was looking forward to trying it in GW2 even though i knew there was no hard trinity. I found that it was a nice change to not have to be the only healer.
My group(4 RL friends) found that dungeons go way way better if everyone has some sort of support in their build. We run 2 shout warriors(shouts heal and remove conditions and buff/debuff), a guardian in full tank gear and support spec’d can keep stability, regen, and aegis up on the whole party so often its ridiculous how much damage he mitigates. And a necro with healing well and condition removal. Everyone is buffing/healing everyone and we basically steamroll everything and have a blast doing it. No one has to stand in the back and heal, i can heal/support on my warrior and still be right up in someones face with my greatsword.
Try it out, i think you will find your niche.
The chanters don’t despawn at 20 because fractals get harder as you get higher. There are ways to do it but i think the encounter is a bit overtuned as well.
The harpy knock back is easy to dodge you just have to pay attention. Stay at range, the most you well ever pull if careful is 2 at a time but usually 1. Don’t bother looking for the red circle because 8 times out of 10 you can’t see it anyway. Instead look at the harpy and when you see a giant blue ball get shot from her bow simply jump to a different platform, you have plenty of time even at 900 range.
put 30 in tactics and use traits 6, 8 or 9, and 12 for shout healing, equip all 3 shouts. Put the rest of your points in arms and strength. Run GS, axe/horn.

This is your problem, it doesn’t matter if you have no +heal you still use your support skills. You do not know your class well enough in a dungeon setting. You “don’t even bother with healing”. That statement is probably the biggest fail in any dungeon group anywhere. No one is a healer and everyone is a healer. Your d/d water attun has a great heal/cleanse on #5 and a great cone heal on #2 that also chills enemies which makes them hit you less. But why would you bother with that “you’re no healer”.
If you stay in earth and just stack bleeds and don’t help your group with the abilities you are given(all of them in all attunements) you are not a good ele, im sorry but that’s a fact.
You need to be attun swapping like crazy, using your blast finishers when your allies lay down combo fields, there are combos with fields and blasts that heal, cleanse, blind, grant might, area chill…you name it, a combo does it, heck the ele has more self combo opportunities then any other class. This all helps your group avoid damage through boons on your party or conditions on the enemy.
No trinity(tank,dps,healer) means that everyone helps everyone, do it or suck at dungeons, its that simple.
But hey, you’ve done one dungeon and didn’t faceroll it so what do i know.

ANet confirmed that they will constantly be adding new fractals to the game, so I have no doubt that we’ll see something focusing on the destroyers and branded, much like how we currently have fractals dealing with the Sons of Svanir and so on.
As an aside, it would be very cool to see a fractal revisiting Destiny’s Edge’s battle against Kralkatorrik. Imagine that!
I agree that would be awesome, problem is they fail so you would have to help in some other fashion. I would also love to see the dwarves in stone form fighting Primordus. So many stories from the lore would make amazing fractals.
please also look into upping the cap of fractal relics as well. currently at lvl 55 it is capped at 15 per boss which is the same as it was in the fotm 4x level.
Have you considered that it doesn’t go up because you’re not supposed to be able to complete 50?
It doesn’t matter if your not “suppose to” be able to beat 50, his group did, so reward them for it.

This is only on lower fractals. Higher set after you break the seal they do not despawn iirc. They do however stop from respawning till next set.
At this point I have an idea to work around the adds, but with the amount of dev fixes it is too much to say.

You need a guild that likes progressing through fractals. You’re slightly ahead of the curve when it comes to pugging and it is widely believed that doing anything past 20 is a waste of time because the drops don’t account for the extra time invested. Just finding people willing to pug anything 21+ is hard because people don’t want to chance a terrible group.

I too felt the rare drops from chests seemed lower after the patch. Would like to have seen the shaman bug fixed too but happy to find out its possibly due to CC so i’ll give that a try.
Other then that, thanks for the fixes. The dredge one i just found out about yesterday running with a guildie. The 3 pugs were not happy to see it fixed and my guildie and I were just dumbfounded at the length people go to skip content, that whole event takes about 3 minutes in a coordinated group.
The “old ascalon” pillar is even funnier since you skip one maybe 2 packs by doing it and the packs take 30 seconds to kill and have a chance to drop essence.

It’s a sad truth but Gems can be traded for gold, so it is in Anets best interest to make gold hard to get. Think about the process of getting a legendary weapon. Precursor’s, lodestones, and T6 mats have a very very low drop rate, so farming them is unrealistic. Plus you need 100g for icy runestones. The gifts you can’t obtain with gold take far less time to get then the gifts you can obtain with gold if you were to actually farm them, which is exactly what Anet wants so they can boost the incentive to buy gems.
Why do you think they take bots so seriously? Because it hurts the real players?…nope, it decreases the value of items which decreases the need for large sums of gold, which decreases the need for gems thus decreasing Anets profit.
Nerf in game money generation = more real life money generation.
