I had a lot of fun with Ranger back in the day when traps were throwable, Trapper runes hadn’t been nerfed yet and Swiftness/Superspeed effected leap disatances.

At the time I was on SFR EU and I had great fun making entire zergs chase me around the map, unable to catch me because I was like Sonic. I think one of the best memories I have was running around SMC lords room with at least 30 people chasing me for a good 20 minutes. Sword/Dagger + Superspeed and I could leap some ridiculous distances. Good times, 100% broken and nerfs well deserved.

I also miss when Spectral Walk could negate fall damage. There’s a spot in EOTM between Tytone Perch and Inferno’s Needle generator where you can drop waaay down to a bridge. I had at least 20 or so people run me off a cliff around there, all falling to their deaths while I survived and /cheer’d.

I’m not sure that either of those things are my classes peaks but they were definitely the times I felt the most broken (in the good way, or bad depending on how you look at it, lol).

I definitely miss te throwable traps I still remember coming back to the game after a year break and noticing my ranger, which was my only lvl 80 at that time, couldn’t throw his traps. First I thought it was a bug, but then via chat I experienced the horrible thruth…what have you done to the game ANet?! You removed so much fun uo till a point only 1 build per class remained

With the release of GW Nightfal it was possible to save skill templates.

Even though we now have few skills which aren’’t bound to a weapon, I am really missing a confort feature which allows me to at least save different trait setups.

E.G: Every time I am changing between bow and staff on my guardian or Longbow to shortbow on my Ranger, I need to change complete trait lines and skills. It would be great if this could he done by simply choosing a saved trait template

Hi all,

I have been playing Guild Wars when it first released back in 2005. My favorite item of all time has been Chaos Bow. I still remember being able to buy it after selling a mini I received with my characters birthday. Such a happy day!

It might be too much to ask, but as I would never be able to afford this amazing item in GW2 , it would be more than amazing if someone has a spare Chaos Longbow Skin to gift away.

Got a full ascended kit from the rank chests. But do not rely on it as drop chance is rather low so if ya want a full kit, go craft.

What rank are you? I just reached WvW lvl 100 and got only 1 kittenty ring. Is it possible to change the stats of the ring?

WvW is a third category. There were updates that happened in PvE, but not in PvP and WvW for example (i.e. ranger pets hp buff).

Pff why don’t they just use 2 categories: PVE and PVP….This would make it a lot easier to balance skills and classes. GW1 had thousands of skills and they were pretty much able to balance that game for both PVP and PVE. GW2 has few skills and, so far, aNet has dine anything, BUT do a decent job when it comes to balancing. Why trying to make it even more difficult by adding a 3rd cat? WvW = PVP no matter how you look at it….

Hi all,

Recent updates included “exclusive” PVE and PVP improvements for some skills.

E.g. Blurred Frenzy for Mesmers. This skill has been given +100% damage in PVE areas only.

As WvW is often seen by ANet as non PVP when it comes to skill updates, I was wondering if skill updates for PVE is also applicable for WvW. Or is WvW somehow a 3rd category?

Hi all,

I completed HoT on my main character. As I am a casual player this took some time so I was wondering:

If I use a “teleport to a friend item” on my lvl 80 alts, will I be able to only play the Act 4 story mission (Bitter Harvest) with them and get the rewards?

I am asking this as I don’t wish to spend all my time on again playing all the acts, but do want the Viper set for one of my alts

Greetings, Tyrians!

We are here today to talk about some of the build-thematic changes that will be coming with the next balance iteration. Depending on your chosen profession and your role in combat, these changes may require some stat-swapping on your gear. We feel that giving a bit of a “heads-up” is appropriate.

One of the most notable changes being made is to the healing values of the Druid as a primary healer. Base values for the Celestial Avatar heals will be reduced, while the healing power contribution will be enhanced significantly. The reasoning for these changes is that while we are excited about the Druid being an incredibly strong healer, we would also like to see that role as one of many choices in your attribute build.

Similarly, there will be changes in boon duration and boon application for a few professions. For the Revenant, we’ll be looking at reducing Naturalistic Resonance’s base boon duration. For Mesmer, we’re looking at making Signet of Inspiration’s boon sharing functionality a bit more controlled, giving each shared boon a fixed duration. To help compensate for these general reductions, we’ll be increasing both damage and a few different baseline boon durations.

As this update rolls out we will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these changes, along with the remainder of the balance updates, and will make additional adjustments and tweaks as necessary. Thanks very much for your time!

Are you kidding me….Naturalistic Resonance is one of the only reasons I started playing my Rev as it is allowing me to stack my own boons well as well as support my teammates….

Really getting sick and tired of these “changes”. You better work on the skills that are never used to increase build diversity and unlock the elite specs through eg a quest row so people can use them as soon as they hit 80 to enjoy them during the campaigns instead of afterwards…

Anyhow…what are we kiddin ourselves. Anet never gives a kitten about the peoples opinion on this forum…they almost never actively reply to opinions/requests from the community, hence I even think they won’t read the replies to their own posts!

I spent 1000+G on my boonsharing mesmer yesterday and you are going to nerf it to the ground? Well done, anet. Mesmer is my only character and i may lose my job in the raid and WvW. Don’t tell me to play another light armor class and switch the status of my ascended equipments.The first reason is anet may nerf them in the next balance patch. The second reason is when you are not in the meta , you are over. It is stupid as they don’t care what we want and just destroy our dreams. In addition, i have to farm for another 100 hours in the ember bay and bloodstone Fen for my berserker trinkets.

I remember there was a game i have spent about USD 300 on my equipments. They were powerful and work perfectly with my build. But three months later, a troll patch come out and make all my stuff become completely useless. The build isn’t work anymore, if you want to play the game please prepare another 300 USD. They lose half of their players after that and i think anet is following their step.

Did I miss something? I don’t remember nor see any notes (within the update forum) about a patch releasing yesterday…?

I do agree. I am a casual player and often like to play solo for 60 min tops.
After many months I finally managed to unlock the “elite” class on 2 of my characters, but am sick and tired of the same challenges and running blobs in WvW to unlock them for all my classes.

These “elite” classes are an essential part of the game and a must for pvp….It’s just rediculous that we need to farm the hero points over and over again.

Personally I think this should be an account wide achievement which should only be done once to unlock all elite classes…like materies!

Today I noticed an article mentioning the new episode for Living World EP3 will release on September 20th and will take place on the Ring of Fire Map.

Hi all,

Guild Wars 2 has been out for almost 4 years now and the game still doesn’t have a proper companion app for android and ios.

I remember when playing other MMORPGs and other games they often did have them.

It was a place to check items, maps, quests (in case of GW2 thus can also be events and timers) and even your characters with gear or chat with friends.

Would you guys agree it would be a good add?

I have 70 characters at the moment, I cannot buy a “normal character slot increase”, however the sale version with the experience scrolls tells me I can buy 1 more at this price. I just would like a confirmation if I do can get 71 characters

Hi all,

I am planning to buy Glint’s Gaze Mask and Chaos globes, but was wondering if this would he unlocked for all my characters like normal outfits or for just 1 character. I know Glint’s Gaze Mask for instance needs to he applied to an helmet, but I was hoping it would work like unlocked helmet skins which can be applied to whatever helmet I want to apply it to using transmutation.

1000 gems total would be fine for me when I can use them on all my characters, but if only applicable on 1 character I am not sure if it’s worth it.

No, it’s not possible. You can’t even preview it on the wrong race — used to be you could preview, and all sorts of interesting and ribald glitches resulted. It’s probably got technical limits the same way mixing armor weights does.

The original Flamekissed Light Armor showed they could adapt cultural armor to other races. Still, when you think about it, this is cultural as in what that culture wears. The backlash against putting human T3 on non humans was astounding; I really doubt ANet wants that kind of firestorm again.

Now, it would be nice if they offered up armor pieces inspired by the cultural stuff, which they actually did in the various dungeon armors, that anyone could wear. As it is I think the best we can hope for are more outfits. Right now we have Verdant Executor, very very sylvari, so much so that I find it foolish looking on any of my alts who aren’t ‘varis, and Gwen’s, old fashioned human style, among others.

Pff that’s just a pitty. Why not let the players chose themselves. People should stop complaining. If they don’t like it, they shouldn’t use it. Easy :-D

He states that they will not call the release “July Quarterly Update”. The reason might be that it is not releasing in July….I hope it is, but this piece of text gives them the option to also release it in August!

Living World Season Three

Hi all,

I signed off on the first episode of Living World Season 3, and we’re getting ready to announce the episode and its release date. I’m super proud of the team for hitting this milestone. Over the past few weeks the team has been processing up to a hundred pieces of feedback each day, working to get all the details right.

Reaching sign-off on an episode doesn’t mean we’re done. Now we integrate the episode content with the other updates that ship in this release, and with localized text and voice-over, and we do final testing of all that. To give a sense of the scope of this process, this update has about 1,500 distinct lines of new voice dialog, each of which must be recorded, integrated, and tested in each supported language. For the player character’s voice, we separately record each race/sex combination in each language, so that means 40 actors for each line.

With this release, we’re bundling a Living World episode with additional content for other areas of the game. You’ve seen that we’ve been following a pattern of releasing a bundled update each quarter; this is a content-focused continuation of that kind of thing. Of course, we’ll give this release a name, not “July Quarterly Update”. And we may be able to increase the pace, ramping from four bundled releases per year towards six, so we’ll move away from calling these “quarterly”.

Some of you may look back nostalgically at 2013 when we shipped updates every two weeks. That year we shipped a wide variety of things: nine or ten releases that we’d today call a Living World episode, plus updates to systems and content for other parts of the game, plus festivals. So it was the extreme unbundled version of this. It was nice that there was always something new, but I’m personally not wistful of that cadence, because we sacrificed so much to be able to ship that frequently. With Season 3 our goal is to deliver content sustainably, at quality, establishing a pattern we don’t have to take breaks from.

It feels great to be shipping Living World again. Thanks for your patience through the recent content draught. Having been through it, I’m sure you understand why I’m focused on sustainability.

As we have most likely have just 2 weeks to go till the summer update, I am wondering why there is still nothing shared….a small preview won’t hurt anyone isn’kitten

For me the summer update will be important. In it’s current state I am everything but happy about the game, especially the WvW part. When there would be a big fix to this, I will definitely stay along and play it more.

Scholar is your best bet.

You really should be running persisting flames in a staff build even solo it should lead to a higher dps.

My issue is that I constantly need to switch to get the persisting flames buff. Firefields are easily created however, there are only few blast finishers of which none among the fire staff skill line

Thanks for the feedback! How come that force is so much more expensive than bloodlust? Especially in wvw the 25 stacis take very few time.

Sigil of fire and sigil of air stack? What damage will t do when triggered and can both be triggered at the same time?

I am trying to figure our what would give the highest damage.

My base power is around 2500. What will give most damage: Superior Bloodlust or Superior Force?

I am still trying to figure out how the sigils work as well. Will Force give +5% to the total skill damage or +5% after armor reduction?

And how much increased damage will +250 power (25 stacks crom Vloodlust) give?

And what about ferocious winds, will the 7% also be applied when att. to fire?

I am trying to figure out runes for my berserker staff Ele (None tempest, using fire/arcade/lighting traitline and the Pyromancer trait)

Runes I have in mind: Strength, Scholar or Pack

Strength would give me 45% longer might and +5% damage when under might from the pyromancer trait, but no ferocity nor precision.
Scholar would gove me ferocity and +10% damage, but +0% damage as soon as I drop under 90% health and no precision.
Pack would give me precision, but +0% damage increase and no ferocity.

What would you recommend and why?

Over the last couple of days I received 8 flasks of liquid WvW XP..
When I click on them however, they don’t give any WvW XP. Is this a bug?

I would have much preferred that elite specializations were simply part of the expansion. Grinding hp’s out in a platformer zone is not fun. Another possibility would be rewarding them for simply playing the game rather than playing the game a certain way in a certain zone.

It would be great that the full elite spec would be unlocked as soon as you finish the main HoT story. Like some reward without pushing people to grind points. Although I would rather see then fully unlocked already when you hit 80. Curious when they introduce new elite specs. Will we need to farm points again? When so I assume they will only introduce then with the new expansion. Nevertheless, I still think that the elite specs ruined the last bit of diversity the game had (which was already none xompared ti gw1 unfortunately)

You are indeed. Basically you have one camp that say,

- It’s an inbalance, it’s a pay to win element, not fair for non hot players, it a huge power creep, it hurt the game, it wasn’t what was advertise for the expansion when they talked about new ways to play your characters not more powerful ways, etc

and the other camp that said.

- In an expansion you are suppose to be more powerful, it way to sell the expansion, they are more interesting than the core spec anyway, they gonna balance them with the future elite spec they will introduce, etc.

I agree with the fact that paying players should have more. Nevetheless, I do believe the so called elite specs completely ruined the little bit of diversity the game still had (which was almost none compared to Gw1).

It’s hard to play at the moment because of the drought of content, and how HoT actually intensified the grind. My 2016 wish list:

1. New elite specs
2. New fractal stages and living story
3. Easier accessibility of ascended gear (so I can play more than 3 professions in PvE) (I only do fractals and raids)
4. PvP style stat selection for WvW

Too be honest, I don’t think the game is YET dying and I agree with point 2-4 completely! Nevertheless, No 1 is unfortunately one of the reasons why quite a bit of people I know stopped playing.
Due to the overpowered “elite specs”, running any normal spec is a “no go” in any pvp related game including wvsw as well as raids. This is resulting in a big lack of diversity.

I think they should take some serious time to balance the skills and make each of them valuable again. This shouldn’t be done the way they do now (almost every patch they alter a few which takes ages), but as once through a massive balance overhaul patch.

In addition, as a casual player, I absolutely HATE the mastery and hero point farming. Luckily I like wvsw, so atleast I can unlock some professions. However this is basically still farming and again, the elite spec took away the last bit of diversity the game had (which even before the elite specs unfortunately was nothing compared to GW1 with all its skills and combos).

Don’t get me wrong, I always liked the game, but its just becoming annoying..

Quarterly means every three months or so. We got one in January, one three months later in April, so it seems reasonable to expect the next one in July (three months after April). They don’t have to wait for the anniversary. Heck, last year’s anniversary didn’t have much happen to mark it.

I surely hope they will release it in July and not in August or September.
I am however looking for some more information on its content. Some sneek preview or points that they want to tackle.

Today I logged into GW2 and directly joined the WvW map as commander. After 5 min however, I was unable to send any tag messages due to “excessive messaging”. Could someone tell me what might be the issue. As I said, I played only 5 min and tagged maybe 4 things during that time. I was able to send /m messaged, but tagging was blocked…Bug?
