How are the teams in eotm set? Is it the same as for eternak battlegrounds (underworld and far shiverpeak together) or are the teams differently. I am asking because we always seem to lose, apart from one week last week
Eotm teams are set by color, so whichever world is green players from that world will play on the green team together. It basically uses a megaserver type of system incorporated for wvw with instances and pairing players from different servers.
So is different from Ethernal Batyleground where servers play against eachother?

I read on https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_versus_World that you gain around 65k of xp from capturing the castle in ethernal battlegrounds. Is this WXP or normal XP? If it is WXP this would mean that you gain 12 levels in world ranking so I have my doubts
In addition, what is overall the best map to get fast WXP?
Dear all,
I am playing on the low active underworld server.
Last week, during wvsw (Edge of the
Mist) we had a blast and won for days in a row.
As of this week however, we are back to the miserable small teams (9-15 people tops) and don’t stand a chance. I play every day at the same time. How can it be that last week we were so much better and always had a full squad?
I also noticed that we are back using our old starting position which is the bottom of the map. Last week, when we did very well, it was the top.
What changed?
Thanks!
Apart from other differences:
Scrapper = Medium Armor – Guardian = Heavy Armor
I don’t think anyone can give you a very good answer because condi ele is not really a thing. You’re best off going with Celestial, generally a condi ele isn’t going to do enough damage to matter.
I don’t know what game mode you’re playing, which matters for questions like this.
I have 3 of my ele builds listed there if you want to check them out and see what you’re missing out on by playing condi.
condi ele is a thing mate. i would suggest maybe balthazar, flame legion or berserker.
Thanks! Is the +7% damage also for the condi damage or just direct damage?

Howso it’s not a thing? With condi setup I deal approx 5000dps in condi damage + the usual direct damage.
Noone who knows the answer?
Hi all,
I am hesitating between 2 different runes and sigils for my setup and am wondering what will give me more overall damage.
For sigil:
Sigil of Bursting (6% condition damage) OR Sigil of Smoldering (+20% burning duration)
For rune:
Rune of the Berserker set (giving +175 condition damage, +65 power, +5 dmg and +5 condition damage) OR Rune of the Elementalist (giving +175 power, +65 condition damage and 20% burning duration)
I am using my staff/scepter-dagger fire Elementalist majorly for wvsw as well as some event pve. My equipment (armor, earrings, neck and rings) is full Carrion and most of my utility skills apply damage and burning.
Many thanks!!
I am trying to get The Karmic converter. For this Exotic Hunter is required. To gain this title I need to "Unlock these 34 exotic weapon skins from champion bags in your wardrobe. ". Is this title also achieved by buying the required exotic items in the trading post and unlocking their skin or do I need to find them in champion bags?
Even before elite specs every profession had at least one traitline that was considered mandatory if you wanted to be competitive. All that has changed is the mandatory traitline is now called elite and gives you a cool profession icon.
And thats the main issue with Gw2 compared to Gw1 and some other games. They limit the choices already with the new skill mechanism GW2 is using, with the elite specs however there is no choice at all. Apart from that it takes a freaking long time to unlock them for a casual player like myself, but without many clases are useless.
Does anyone know which classes are still as powerful without their elite traitline as they are with?
Everything is unlocked in PvP by default.
In wvsw?
As a returning casual player with just an hour per day to play, I can’t help to think that HoT completely ruined the bit of skill diversity the game had. Try to build a class without the elite spec and you don’t stand much of a change in most pvp fights as the elites are way more powerful.
For me GW2 has always been far less diverse than GW1 (which I played hapily for 8 years due to its endless combinations), but with HoT they even reduced this flexibility further …
Apart from this, HoT forces me to put a lot of time into farming those stupid additional hero points before even being able to roam around in wvsw or pvp (which is, for me, the USP of GW)
Any thoughts? Or am I the only one who has this feeling?

As it will probably take me quite some time to get the reaper traitline (again, I only play casually and you just need TOO many points for that), I will mostly play MM or so in the beginning. How is the DPS of a MM in PvE and how is it for PVP?
And where is Necro in the DPS ranking with and without reaper after the spring patch?
Many thanks to all!! When taking Neco, what would be the best armor combination. ZeftheWicked, you mentioned Valkyrie or Cavelier, what would be the best? Or is a combination of different parts the way to go? If yes, which one for what part
Many thanks again!
Dear all,
I haven’t had time much to play Gw2 over the last 5 months however am looking to return.
As I am very busy and have only 1 hour/day during the week and maybe 2 hours/day during the weekend to play I am looking for a good pick.
I will mainly play PVP and WvsW as well as some PVE to get those hero points (which too be honest is something I hope they will patch next time as it takes quite long to unlock the advanced spec when playing only casual ).
Therefore, to make sure I pick the optimum class for my likes, I was wondering what are currently (after the spring patch) the top 3 classes for PVE, WvsW and PvP taking into account DPS and survivability (e.g. in 1 vs 1).
WvsW:
1.
2.
3.
PVP:
1.
2.
3.
PVE:
1.
2.
3.
Thanks a million!!
Hey all,
Does the might gain from Pyromancer’s Puissance stack? E.g. when using a fire skill 25 times, will this give me 25 might (so +750 power)?
If so, why are the meta builds not using this trait cause with Superior rune of strength its seems very powerful to me.
Thanks!
We know good reviews are paid off.
What are you talking about? That’s not a valid point.
The HoT expansion introduced a lot of grind to the game. Personally I think this (eg mastery farming and the long track to unlock your elite spec) partly ruined the game for me…
I can guarantee you that soon there will be a lot of reviews with this exact feedback
Dear all
As a GW veteran I boughy GW2 from the start and played it for about 6 months on the Underworld sever, majorly focussing on wvsw (part which I love the most about GW). Unfortunately back then my new job and private life asked for me to stop playing for a while. When revisiting the game however I found myself a game which drastically changed. My once so beloved server was in the bottom of the wvsw ranking and due to the fact that no one seems to be playing this part of the game we dont stand a chance vs the other servers.
Since we have the “one big server concept” in pve I was wondering why we cant take such an approach for wvsw so everyone stands a fair chance, regardless their server. This system could basically work like any other pvp game with its own balancing system to ensure no side has too many players compared to the other. In case you want to play with specific players you could invite them to your side (as for the currect pve you can right click and join your group on a specific map)
Of course I noticed you can switch servers, which surprisingly would cost me almost 20 euro (way to go ANET……!!), but I highly doubt this is a long term solution.
(Apart from this not being a long term solution, personally I think charging 20 EUR for a simple switch is just a hit in the face for veterans who are looking to return to the game by buying HoT for 50 EUR and find themselves on a totally changed server. But again thats just my opinion)
What do you guys think?
Cheers and thanks for your input
Thanks a lot!!!!
Dear all
I just pre-purchased HoT at the local electronic store and added the key. Unfortunately the Beta is over, however since I am already owning the core game for 3 years I am supposed to get an additional character slot. When is this added to my account?
Many thanks for your feedback!
Dear all,
After reading the article about the first beta weekend on August 7th (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-first-beta-weekend-event-begins-august-7/), I noticed the following line:
“Progress earned by beta characters over the course of the weekend will be preserved between BWE1 and BWE2 so that you can continue testing where you left off.”
Now I was wondering, if creating a new character during the beta (which will be lvl 80), will it only be transferred to beta 2 or eventually also be available once the game fully released?
To be honest, I wouldn’t prefer to put a lot of time in a new revenant during the different beta weeks when it eventually will be deleted once the full game releases (even though it will be instantly 80 I would love to play the current game as well as expansion with it to see the new features)
Cheers
Had the same problem before. Try running the game by going to the application folder and double clicking on the app. This worked for me.
Thanks for all the answers. In regards to the video card, this will mainly be for the rendering in Premier Pro and some Cinema 4D. I was also looking at the 5820k, however was not quite sure in regards to the performance in GW2 and other games due to the initial clock speed (I never over locked and always afraid I ruin the CPU). The 2 additional cores (4 threats) would be great though for the other programmes.
In regards to 4k, the monitor is pretty good and one of the few competitor with games. It’s 60HZ, has Gaync and 1 ms G2G. I was really hoping for a update from NCSoft when HoT comes out. More and more people use higher resolutions and a non scalable interface is not from this time..
If nothing is being done, I will check the 1440p 144HZ monitors, thanks for the advice on that one!!
After not having played Gw 2 for a long time due to the lack of a proper computer (2013 MacBook Air which turns into an oven when running this even in the lowest setting), I would like to come back to the game. Since GW2 is not the only thing Inwill be using the for (also video editing in Premier Pro) I was looking at the following spec: See attached screenshot
Budget approx 2500 euro
Screen of choice Acer XB280HK 28" 4k (included in the 2500 so budget is around 1900 for the pc)
Is there something I should change in the configuration or should I wait 2 months more till Skylake? (Bit afraid that since it’s a new processor type it might cause issues)
I heard some people are experiencing some issues in 4k, eg with lags and the Ui.
Will the screen be big enough to read the text and will the rig be able to handle this in crowded WvsW? Also is the GtX980 TI fully supported?
In addition, will we get DX12 support?
Many thanks in advance!

Today I came over the following news article posted on the Gw website: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/pre-purchase-community-address/
In this article they announce that a new character slot will be grande to each and everyone who bought the core game prior to January 23, 2015.
Good news I would say, but does this mean that, when buying the Deluxe Edition for HoT which includes a character slot as well, you will get 2 slots in total?
