Tips against warriors?

I run full zerkers and d/p also on my warrior full zerkers skull crack/100 bads build.

To beat a warrior you have to play perfectly and use perma stealth.

D/d and s/d are useless against a good roaming warrior. I killed a d/d thief from 100% to 0 in seconds while I was at 20% running away from 5 other people.

First, if you him pop berserker stance use perma stealth or run. Dodge as many skull cracks as possible. Be prepared for a long fight.

I’ve only lost to one thief on my warr in 1v1. I made about 10 mistakes he made 0. I dueled him again and he made 1 mistake and died.

Post patch thief will not be able to kill a warrior.

To add to what he said, it is imperative that you do not dodge anything other than very specific skills. That is difficult because warrior auto attack damage hurts. But under no circumstances should you be wasting dodges on auto attacks since you are not s/d evade spam spec.

Additionally, this is also why I find d/p as one of the more prefer way to deal with warrior, as if you can hit hard enough, just bs once in awhile can overpower healing sig while not subjecting yourself to getting punched in the face inbetween.

In either case though, you are not allowed to make any mistakes (well, technically one, since you should have a stun breaker). Nevermind Hambow, any variation of stance warrior can be categorize as top tier 1v1 spec. I’ve trained thieves to death just nonstop attacking on axe/mace sword/shield triple stance more times than I can count.

I’m assuming your skills are HiS, deception X3?

I think more HP is definitely needed since there is no way to make a fight short against a warrior (or many other builds in WvW for that matter). Your HP is probably in the low 12k right now, which is not high enough in my opinion. If you are set on lyssa rune, replace some zerker with valk would be a good idea.

Due to your low HP, you must go deception so that you can extract when the damage comes. While deception makes a thief unkillable, it also makes it so that there are many targets that the thief simply can’t output enough damage to kill quickly. Anyone that has ran 0/30/30/10/0 has more than likely had experience with deception.

As for trait selection, I think your focus on critical chance (along with your gear selection) is too heavy. And you should take VI in acrobatics for better maneuverability. I is extremely situational and should just be grabbed when you use it that once or twice a night.

I personally run 0/30/30/10/0 as well, but I run a variation of Cruuk’s signet build. The idea behind the build is that you have 25 stacks of might on-demand, and you have the ability to boost your attack up to 4600+ for a period of 11 seconds, allowing you to plow through even 3600+ armor.

The drawback is that you are less survivable because you are only bringing one deception (blinding powder), and your stun break doesn’t generate instant distance between you and the hot zone. However, if you learn how to play with the build and around those limitations, you hit like a truck even on the heaviest targets.

Add in the food, bloodlust, and might stacks, and you can get up to 4708 attack (i usually use dragon buns, so more likely 4608).

Post dec. 10 the build will change a little and you will probably only stack 18-20 stacks of might instead of 25, although the theorycraft for incoming changes are still in progress.

What’s your gear and trait selection?

Standard deception 0/30/30/10/0 doesn’t hit hard enough in WvW against warriors. That may be why you are having issues.

And any warrior 1v1 is going to take a couple of minutes. Healing signet is no joke.

As for whether the chance changed, I don’t believe so but I don’t think anyone has statistical data to confirm either way.

I think i’ve seen 1 weapon chest/teq chest in 9 of the 11 wins I’ve been a part of. I don’t think there were more than one in each instance.

I was fortunate enough to be one of the 9, and I got zojja’s (zerker) to boot.

Based on the tally, it seems FC has beaten him twice.

I don’t recall FC being mentioned as one of the servers where one of the higher servers guested to use as a hub, so I’m assuming they were legit server kills.

It seems to be a tool tip fix.

Previously the value shown is the critical attack value, because arcane guaranteed a crit.

Currently it is showing the base attack value, to be inline with all other abilities.

I have not noticed any decrease in my damage output.

Ele is probably the only one that uses scepter for direct damage. Necro scepter is condi, mesmer scepter is subpar, and guardian doesn’t have enough weapon slots for scepter (hammer, gs, staff, sword are all better).

While you are able to get 4000 armor, it’s possible to stack might and sustain a short duration of 4500 attack. Someone with 2300 will get nailed for 12k or more damage, so you are still better off with more toughness.

Toughness does matter, but having all toughness and no HP is meaningless. All graphs for toughness-vitality min/max for highest effective HP is a ratio of it (and usually skewed well into favoring much more vit than toughenss), not just one or the other.

The attribute increase is marginal and completely irrelevent.

The base damage increase of 5% is significant, because it’s base damage, not just a multiplier.

As above has mentioned, it primarily only matters for main-hand weapon, and direct damage purposes. Condi builds have no use for ascended, and outside of several instances where offhand actually matters for damage (dagger ele or something), it doesn’t matter either.

You really only need your main-hand to have ascended. Most of the offhand abilities do not do much damage (if any), so an ascended is pretty useless. The stat increase is marginal, and the reason to get ascended is for the 5% increase in base damage.

There are several exceptions, such as ele (off dagger), and a couple of other cases. Generally speaking, if your mainhand is ascended, you are pretty much good to go.

The name of the ring does not change with the stats you select. I am currently using ring of light with zerker/valk stat, and similarly with Yakkington’s.

Probably not the right forums.

The people that didn’t get laurels are those that did the monthly again after the patch. This patch unintentionally reset parts of the monthly, allowing those that finished it before the patch to finish it a second time. They were rewarded with a flask of karma, 20 mystic coins, 500 luck, and 50 silver. They did not get 10 more laurels for finishing it twice. I’m guessing there is a separate check for laurels.

The only nerf to daily/monthly that has been confirmed is to karma.

The rise in price seems to have been more due to the announcement that legendaries are getting upgraded next patch, both in effects as well as in stats/convenience.

It definitely looks like some of the richer people are doing a buy and relist.

This isn’t the first time precursors have been bought and relisted to 1000g+. If people are not willing to pay it will come back down to the 400-700g range.

Don’t over-exaggerate thief speed. 70g an hour is 15 second kill/skill recharge/requeue. At the fastest it takes 6-8 seconds to requeue gambits and boss.

Fastest kill was guardian (10-12 seconds, crit pending). Most sustainable speed was thief (24-26 seconds per kill/skill recharge/requeue).

42g/hour was the accepted peak gain rate.

d/p gets about 14-16 second kills, 10-12 second gambit/boss queue time for one kill every 24-28 seconds taking into account kill time/skill recharge/queue time (number of criticals pending). The only limitation (that you can control) being how fast you can queue.

There is also 0 risk of dying once you figure out the (one) skill rotation that counters his 3 different skill rotations.

I farm Deadeye on my thief, and can do 2 5-gambits in one minute. If you do everything right, it goes very smoothly, but if your timing is off by a second you’ll probably end up dead because he hits you anywhere from 4k to 9k with the frailty gambit. You have to time your blinds right and you can’t spam black powder relentlessly or you won’t have the DPS to kill him before he ports to the other side of the map. You also have to be careful about how often you use HS (if at all) because this will sometimes draw the aggro of the Quaggan.

I also do it on thief.

All the things you listed do need to be done. But none of them have any skill requirement. This is because deadeye’s behavior has no random factors. He will alternate two sets of volley and aim shot before teleporting (11 seconds) and then kill shot. That is it.

You can go an entire farming session without ever getting hit, easily.

Just auto attack him down to 50% as thief, create distance, scorpion wire away from the currently spawned oozes, pop guild and haste, and dps him to 0 before newly spawned oozes can start healing.

Deadeye doesn’t require skill. All it hinges on is a good rotation and sticking to the skill progression to maximize gain. If you just play around with timing and builds a little bit, you can end up with 1-1.2 silver per second (4-5 gambits respectively), lowered slightly by having to buy tickets and opening bags, but further increased by charged lodestone drops.

There isn’t anything else in the game that remotely approaches this type of gain at the moment. Subject 7 had nothing on this.

Standard full burst will be sufficient for just beating every one of the enemies (25/30/0/15/0). Just switch out skills, traits, and weapons accordingly. The only thing I had problem with is 2nd to last because I immediately went for the achievement (3 tries), and darkness (4 tries).

For gambit, immediately go for 5 gambit, as it fills 5, 3, and 2. It doesn’t get you the 1 gambit achievement for some reason, but that’s easy after doing 5. I went even more burst (30/30/0/0/10) and did the sniper. The margin of error is small in this fight, so it may take a few tries, but you have more than enough dmg output if you use your skills in the right order. I took all gambit except crowd pleaser (or whatever it’s called).

Have not started doing 8 light orbs. Trying to theorycraft correct build first.

If you do 5 gambit immediately while still needing 5, 3, 2 and 1, the 1 active gambit achievement does not activate. I only got 5, 3 and 2, and had to do 1 again.

You get to use your own equipment skin/stat layout for WvW. People will feel more attached to those because it’s their build and look. Additionally, some people just like PvE stat levels more (along with all the food buffs, etc).

PvP is definitely the more balanced variation for dueling, but just for fun WvW dueling has its own appeal.

Send WvW Corpses To Waypoint after X Minutes

There is a time limit of about 30 minutes (Approx). I was in a taken keep with a dead mes, and after about that amount of time, he informed me of a timer that started going for forced waypoint.

That being said, some changes to respawn conditions should be made to improve this particular aspect of WvW.

LoS works funky in this game. A lot of small items on the ground could cause obstruction. This is very noticeable for not just spite, but epi, and various forms of teleport as well. Only true teleport like spectral walk or portal bypasses this issue entirely.

Of course he bypasses the marks. You don’t drop marks pre-emptively against a stealth thief. He can just dodge roll through them to nullify them. You need to save them for when revealed is active, and force him to burn his utilities.

And I didn’t say spam fear. Having a lot of fear doesn’t mean you spam them. With condi burst you can down a thief in the 3 seconds of reveal that he is vulnerable in easily. This means his only mechanism of defense is his stun breaker (most likely shadow step). Once that’s gone, if the thief has reveal, it’s a death sentence.

And you don’t need greater marks anymore. It’s not a requirement on staff at the moment.

Full burst is still fine in sPvP.

Do not run full burst in tPvP. The current meta requires personal condi cleanse. You can’t expect your team to take care of condi cleanse when that much is coming all the time.

Thieves do not have enough stun breakers to fight off all the fears.

Once you force their stun breaker and close on their strike point (so they can’t shadow return to generate the necessary distance), it’s pretty much over.

Now with the significantly tankier DS, it’s also much easier because necro should easily be able to draw the fight out to well over 20 seconds, guarantee at least 2+ chances at landing doom. You may miss one doom, but you should never miss more than one.

1v1 I don’t feel any particular pressure from any thief build at the moment. Condi cleanse is largely ineffectual because, as the name suggests, it’s condi “burst”. You just make the thf explode in 2-3 seconds. The only time you would lose is if your opponent is much better than you.

I actually wasn’t talking strickly PvE, and I apologize if I gave that impression; it’s possibly a side-effect of being noob that I may have misguided expectations about gear and weapon types and their relation to PvE or PvP. That said, I did go 10/0/30/0/30 stealing build cuz it seemed so much fun, and I’m rarely alone because I always play with RL friends and bountiful theft and thrill of the crime seem amazing. I figured I’d take the advantage of the condi damage for poisons and bleeds, shadow arts to take adv of my toughness and healing gear, and the trickery tree to compliment in synergy with the 10 points in deadly and hidden thief.

I know it’s quite likely I’m doing all the things wrong. But it feels I’m making lemonade with the lemons I got from my choice of armor :/

You really need at least 10 in critical for precision > vitality for survivability then. General condi thief is carrion or rabid, not so much rampager.

points in acrobatics won’t help much if you don’t go sword (or at least D/P), and condi thief is never ever going to touch sword.

Based on your subject though, I assume you put more weight in WvW? Thief is definitely the king of roaming in WvW.

Any of the listed professions can be good for the activities you listed though. Should just pick one that you enjoy.

put 15 into acrobatics and use dagger mainhand. If more evade is necessary use withdraw as the heal. That should be more than sufficient survivability for everything in the game.

I’m assuming you are talking strickly PvE btw, based on your initial post.

Pretty sure S/Sh longbow is a common well respected build.

I personally run S/Sh A/M stance, which I find fairly fun as well.

However, I think in both instance S/Sh is the CC set, not the dmg set.

You only get bolt footsteps. You get offhand flame for the incinerator. Dancing dagger and CnD are much more pronounced (as in the animation is much clearer, so for both, you can see the dagger spin animation in its entirety) with Incinerator, which is very nice.

I will see what I can do about pics when I get home.

Still images don’t really show the effects well. Message me in game if you are interested. It’s also very difficult to show incinerator offhand with screens because the improvements are with the attack motions.
