I think this is a good idea in its own way.
Yeah, it’d go against Anet’s philosophy of player interaction, (even though they’re lacking in that dept with the lack of things such as a dungeon finder), but it would get rid of a lot of the crying about classes such as thieves or bunker ele’s being overpowered if the lower-skilled players could be free to run around and do what it is they do.
The fact is, there are hardcore players that master everything about every class and know each inside and out, and there are casual players that put in a few hours into their one or two characters and that puts them at a disadvantage. Putting those two against each other in a PvP environment doesn’t always work too well.

I have a feeling that if someone is going to purchase an account just to play on the opposing server as a spy, that they’d have no problems blowing 100g on a commander title.
Just my two cents.

While I agree with nearly everything Dee Jay had to say, it’s not too hard to melee at least 70% of the time in dungeons if you’re smart, even with a full glasscannon build.
I run 20/30/0/20/0 with full berserker’s gear, including jewels, with ruby orbs on everything and have around 13.7k of HP and 900 toughness. That being said, there are a lot of times where I find myself being the only one left alive in an encounter and am resing my teammates or waiting for them to WP back.
If you spec into Acrobatics, you end up with swiftness on each dodge and an extra dodge from the endurance regen. That combined with knowing enemy attacks and using stealth wisely can give you a lot of survivability. Glasscannon isn’t usually the best idea for dungeons/PvE but it can be a great source of DPS if, you know, you’re actually alive to put out that DPS

Read through your site and it sounds pretty cool! I added you but you’re not online at the moment. Send me an invite or I’ll whisper you when I can.

We’re two level 80 thieves/bunker ele’s looking for a new guild on Tarnished Coast.
We’re looking for something big but not huge; somewhere between 50 and 150 members is ideal.
We’re really active in WvW. We want to form nice little roaming groups cause we’re getting a bit tired of cruising around alone.
We run every dungeon as well and want to start doing Orr events.
Send me a whisper in game (I usually go by Tom Hanks) or post a little about your guild here.
Thanks, bros.
EDIT: Probably should have mentioned our timezones. One of us is PST and the other EST.

i have nearly the same specs as OP and am getting awful FPS too.
i’m building a new PC with an i5-3570 @ 3.4, 8gb of ram, and my old GPU, a Raedon 5570.
will i be able to wvw without bogging down to 5fps? :/
i know my old gpu isn’t the best but i’m trying to save money until i can afford to get a better one.

the only things i’d really like to see are simple bugs fixes.
for example, #3 on the shortbow. sometimes i don’t physically dodge backwards unless i’m holding my backwards key, and even then i sometimes won’t dodge.
i really hope d/d doesn’t get nerfed again. the kids who complain about it are just bad at the game. i’ve been killed by every class in many different ways by many skilled players.

I thought they were planning on implementing a mobile guild chat feature?

How hard would it be to make the dragon climbable?
Run up the tail and onto the back and hack away until it shakes us off.

I think it’s an unnecessary but cool idea. I’m a thief in the Order of Whispers so crossed daggers on/near/around my portrait would look cool.
There are a lot of things that need to be fixed/implemented before vanity stuff like this.

i’ve been using them both for a while and definitely like curry more.

I agree with this. I think more than 1 slot would be fine too. 3 sounds like it would be good.
There are a lot of times when I want to quickly switch foods in a dungeon or WvW because I need a certain stat for a certain battle and pulling up my inventory in the middle of a fight can sometimes get me killed.

I just forged the Feast of Truffle Steak recipe yesterday and I think it’s working out well. It’s +100 power and +70 prec. I figured it’d be useful to nearly every class.

After playing WvW all day I’ve come up with something a bit different:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYUQNAoYVlUmaOXey9E+5Ey2jKsn4J9D4UPjrK+A;TsAg0ynkOpeS5E1MGkEzYtxZjEHA
(I included my ideal gear/runes/jewels).
I like how this one turned out a lot better. Crit chance and crit damage are in the 60%’s and i have 19k health.
I switch out Caltrops with Scorpion Wire depending on the situation.Better?
That character calculator is made for PvP builds, so it is kinda innacurate for PvE/WvW purposes.
Oh, great.
Is it at least close?

Now please correct me if I’m late to this party but, what is the deal with people hiding under the cliffs so they get invulnerability in WvW?
I don’t play WvW too often and just recently started getting into it this week. Tonight I noticed a lot of cowardly Eredon Terrace players that would retreat to the safety of the invulnerable cliffs and just hide there.
Why do they get invulnerability under the cliffs? Is it because those cliffs are technically still in their “safe zone” or whatever? If so, that is a horrible design flaw and should be fixed immediately because they were able to just camp and shoot at us with ranged and AoE while we were helpless to do anything.
If any Eredon Terrace players are reading this: srsly guys? Why WvW at all if that’s all you’re gonna do…

How successful do you imagine a melee character with medium armor and 10.500 HP is going to be in Dungeons?
Quite more successful than my caster character wearing cloth with nearly the same amount of HP. Yeah, I know how to play the game and survive.
And you pick either Critical Damage or Condition Damage. They don’t synergize at all so trying to have both is suboptimal.
That’s what I wanted to confirm.
Some or your trait choices aren’t great either.
What would you recommend in lieu of Signets of Power and Master of Deception? I have to agree with ASP when he said mug isn’t too useful for dungeons or PvE. Most certainly in WvW, though.
http://www.youtube.com/user/skinnybeee
On second thought, I guess full Berserker/s over Rampager’s does make a bit more sense…
For rings etc, should I stick with the direct damage or would it be a good idea to sprinkle in some toughness/vitality?
As far as traits go, though, how does that look? Will I be able to survive in dungeons but still be able to take people down in WvW?

I just recently abandoned my level 80 elementalist in favor of a thief. I’m trying to get an idea of how to shape my build.
So far, I’ve come up with this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYUQNAoYVlUmaOXey9E+JFx2Df2TeyVoo6HwZ/hrC
I mainly do PvE and WvW and wanted a build that could put out decent damage yet still take a few hits. I was having a bit of trouble deciding what traits to choose in Critical Strikes, though. Any suggestions?
And for gear, I was planning to go with a mix of Berserker’s (Crit Damage/Power (main)/Precision) and Rampager’s (Condition Damage/ Power/ Precision (main)) for maximum damage output.
What do you guys think?
http://www.youtube.com/user/skinnybeee
My best suggestion is to try and get at least 12k health. That will help immensely with your survivability in dungeons and will be the difference between getting killed instantly and being killed in 2 hits.
As for your armor, the elementalist can’t really afford to not wear the best possible armor. try the trading post for better stuff, there’s usually some things for sale at 1 copper above the vendor price. Which means you can get update gear for just 1 copper.
i’m not sure the exact number but i think i do have 12k of health or well near it.
and as for gear, i’m planning on buying rares for now until i can farm/afford exotics. i’m buying knights gear as soon as i hit 80.
OP I am going to level with you. Glass cannon and ele really don’t mix. Staff and glass cannon don’t mix (maybe in PvE but in higher level ares you’ll be eating dirt often in PvP forget it no one will sit in your aoes). Your going to get at lot farther with a balanced build or a bunker build. Even if you went dps s/d you may survive but glass is glass and we sit with some of the lowest base defensive stats. I am sorry but this is the really of ele glass doesn’t really work well with up.
what benefits does a balanced build offer? it seems like it’d be useless since it’s not leaning in any direction. i tried an aura-based build but didn’t see any real difference. and it was annoying to have to constantly monitor 4 signets.
a bunker build sounds fun in pvp, being able to outlast most foes, but it seems so lame that you can’t do any real damage. like, what’s the point?
http://www.youtube.com/user/skinnybeee
hey everyone. i’m about to hit level 80 with my elementalist and so far i can’t find a build that i enjoy playing. i want to focus on being a staff-based glasscannon with aoe damage and decent criticals but when i run dungeons or play wvw, i don’t seem to be very effective.
right now i’m trying out 20/30/0/10/10 and i’m dying a lot more than i’d like. granted, i’m still in level 65 gear (i’m waiting till 80 to buy new stuff. i’m thinking knights gear), it’s a bit ridiculous how squishy i am. even though all of my utilities are cantrips like mistform.
i’m looking for any suggestions that involve a staff or s/d playstyle. i see a lot of d/d builds but i don’t find that interesting at all. i chose elementalist because i wanted to be a ranged caster.
