For FA, having been here since mid to late January, I can tell you that the majority of guilds on the server are in it for the fights. We love open field combat and we love going head to head against groups and guilds on over servers. Each individual fight is a contest in itself and that is entirely what we live for. To be completely honest, the biggest punishment for us is to be in a BL and to go against outmanned opponents head to head. And before some of the haters comment, BT is a heavy east coast weighted group so around 11pm ET our numbers typically fall off due to work/school commitments the next day on weekdays.

I keep reading that FA is in it for the fights yet every time I see an FA invader, it’s his backside because him and his zerg are running away from open field combat. Go figure.

Yeah that would probably be fine if you have soldier’s or knight’s armor. I use soldier’s armor and zerker/knights accessories in my d/d build.

We are not either ranged nukers OR support/AoE, we are BOTH at the same time. You keep complaining about options when you need to learn to adapt to balance.

we are both at same time. wich by balance default.. have to have lower dmg overall.
Give me my option to specialize in what i want.
Myself i gladly reduce my AoE capacity. For a stronger Range single target nuker set.

If you Like AoE set. just specialize in it.

Which dungeons do you run? These builds just seem god awful. I can’t imagine them being any more effective than a moa in WvW. Have you ever been in a 1v1 fight?

You’re the guys that broke off from RET, right? I think I could get a few DIS together for some 5v5s or 10v10s. Idk about 20v20s though.

You said you’re traiting into air and water. While fantastic trait lines, your first few points would be better spent in Arcana to get the Elemental Attunement (V) trait which gives you a boon on attunement swap. After that, max out your water line grabbing traits III, V, and XI. You can put your last 30 points pretty much anywhere.
Also, keep in mind that by specing into a trait line that you are not restricting yourself to using only those elements. You must still use fire and earth while fighting even if you are spec’d into air and water.

This boss just needs a rework. Most dungeons you can get away with multiple build styles, but this one you need a very high DPS team build, and even then it’s rather frustrating to play. Timecookie, I’d love to know your trick to beating her. I’ve tried with Guildies and PUGs alike, only to fail.

No trick, everything has been done regularly.
1/ We put Simin against the wall close to statue.
2/ Set a Guardian to the 2 deeper Sparks and the Mesmer to the 3 Sparks at the entry of the cave.
3/ DPS, run sparks, DPS, run sparks, DPS…
It must come from builds and everyone picking the right skills. Go for Banners, Signet of Inspiration, Vulnerabilities and don’t forget stability.

You don’t even need that much organization anymore. I’ve had guildies kill Simin with the group makeup of a necro, mesmer, ranger, and two guardians. My jaw dropped when he told me this because my group of 2 zerker warriors, 2 zerker thieves, and a zerker mesmer had a kitten difficult time downing her pre nerf. My Dungeon Master title is worthless now :/

The elementals are situational. I know you’re upset that the fire elemental couldn’t face tank 3 mobs but in time you’ll learn how the mechanic works and when to use each elemental. Also, responding to everyone’s constructive replies by saying “it dies fast” doesn’t make for very good discussion. We get it, it’s squishy.

Yet OP mentions nothing of what happens to a staff ele caught by himself. 9/10 times, he’ll melt because staff is poor for 1v1s and he now has very limited mobility.

Fractal Daily chests are per tier, per character. So yes, you’d end up with two chests from each tier (tier 20, tier 30) totaling out to four chests.

Whether you’re going for full DPS or bunker/support, a necessary choice for elementalist traits will always be 30 in water and 10 arcane. The synergy within the water trait line is too good to ignore and the elemental attunement major trait should be a built in part of the ele imo.

I’d like to welcome both Kaineng and FA to some friendly duels at the windmill on TC BL tomorrow before our reset.

I’m hoping to get a good amount of DIS out there so hopefully we’ll see some other faces as well.

I absolutely loathe how my male sylvari elementalist looks in light armor. I have yet to find or see a combination that I find appealing. I desperately want a race change because I’m seriously considering just starting a new ele which would be a real pain considering my current has 2 full sets of ascended gear (sans earrings).

Pleeeeease give us race changes. I don’t care about the personal story; reset it. I stopped doing it at lvl 60 anyways due to lack of interest.

Stacking is a gimmick used as a sort of safety net for groups with poor communication and teamwork. The only time I ever stack is in phase 1 of the Lupicus fight just so we can focus the grubs.

I play a s/d crit damage.tank build that works great in high level fractals. It goes 0/30/0/30/10 with full knights gear, valkyrie weapons, and cavaliers accessories. I can put out 5k arc lightnings but still have 3000 armor with food and my rock shield.

I’m glad OP gave up on the ele. One less potential “fire mage”.

Choosing celestial stats is like putting 14 points in each trait line. Yes, now you’re perfectly balanced but not particularly good at anything.

I’ve been running a Glyph based S/D crit damage tank build and have been experimenting with Glyph of Storms. I find Fire actually does more DPS because it hits everything in the AoE instead of hitting randomly.

The blind and chill is fantastic for small group fights and fire is great for zergs. Even in 1v1s it can be used to create pressure and make your enemy back off.

The only buff I’d really like to see for this utility is so that the Inscription trait works the same asb our Glyph heal does in Fire. (3 stacks of might when using a Glyph in Fire instead of 1)

I thought it’d be fun to come to tier 3 and play around in first for a while but this is not what I had in mind. There’s no longer any challenge in roaming when our 5-10 man group can take on 20+ :/

I reeeeally want BG, SoR, or Kaineng back in the mix. It’s really lame when the maps are solid green and the only way to get fights is to hang out near spawns.

If you plan on sitting in water attunement and waiting for your 1-2 heal skills to come off CD then you will be severely gimping your team and will be contributing very little. Your group heals will most likely not be stronger than the individual #6 heals. It is fine to spec into support but it isn’t viable to try and make a “healer” with the elementalist.

I’m Jado Cast in oPP, you are referring to Melanin, who is one of our leaders. And yes, he is one hell of an Elementalist and has a very unique build that he developed. I actually have your ele fighting him on video btw and he bowed to him in the middle of a fight and went away. I didn’t jump in because Mel wanted to 1v1 him behind the ruins.

This. My friends and I were discussing how they could make this encounter possible using a variety of professions, while keeping it challenging. And frankly, we could not come up with anything…

I think you meant warriors. Because guardians have gotten several nerfs since launch.

You have to agree, though, that since the initial nerfs after launch that they’ve remained pretty stable.

Well for me (the one who made the thread) I don’t usually have much problem surviving on him aside from when I try to heal downed people and he pops his super attack. To be fair, I think a fair number of times in the recent runs I was the only one healing aside from maybe one other person on occasion. I guess I just have to be more vocal on healing the downed players during Alpha when I form a group. 90% of what gets me killed is trying to heal downed players and getting blown away by the super attack because it took too long with just me doing it.

Regarding the comments on melee range, I’ve run enough CoE in pre-wp lockdown days to know how this hotdog stand operates, thank you very much. I’ve seen the word “stack” enough times to puke at this point.

The last time I went into CoE was with this god awful Ranger duo. They were the type of rangers that “never have to worry about dodging because they hang in the back and pewpew”. They were downed almost instantly in each Alpha encounter so instead of worrying about resing them, we just ended up 3 manning all the Alpha fights. If one person knows what they’re doing you can easily prevent a wipe.

Alpha is an amazing boss because he separates good players from the baddies.

I went in last night with 2 DPS warriors, a DPS based engineer, a mesmer, and me, an elementalist. We tried for a good hour on Simin alone and just could not get her below half health no matter what we did. Earlier that morning we were running dungeons together as a static group and were just tearing through things and thought that we had the DPS for Simin, we were sadly wrong.

I am not one to call for nerfs because I believe that everything has a counter if you think hard enough and play well enough but this is kind of ridiculous. Yes, I know Simin’s counter is DPS and in my opinion, we had more DPS than the usual group but still could not get her down.

This boss fight only seems doable with 4 GS warriors.

If you are a Ranger, Necro, or Engie and acquired Dungeon Master after the recent Simin “fix” (no longer allowed to DPS while she’s stealthed), how the hell did you do this?

I’m trying again next weekend on my thief with 3 warriors instead of 2 and I’m still not feeling too confident.

Don’t get Sigil of Corruption, get Sigil of Bloodlust. You do not need condition damage if you know how to stack might. With the dapheonix build you can sit at 15 stacks for the duration of your fights.

This would never work. Baddies would just hang around spawn reviving each other and spreading boons.

Easily fixed – you only get badges for support if your allies are in actual combat at the time. Just spreading boons or suicide jumping/rezzing wouldn’t work…

Hmm alright then. But how would you get the badge if you have no bags to loot? Just throwing one into your inventory for standing around spreading boons while others had to go out and fight for them hardly seems fair.

EDIT: I spread boons and kill at the same time so that means I and certain classes like guardians would get double the badges. That also seems unfair to classes like Rangers who hardly ever spread boons.

Guys no. Please stop sharing whatever crazy engie things you’re doing to mess me up. Lately I’ve been running into engineers that are just destroying me in a 1v1 situation and I want it to stop :’(

That was defiantly a sparta moment for TC when Kain and BG were throwing wave after wave for Bay in KGBL. Some of the most fun I’ve had playing WvW and we just started! Great fight guys and welcome to Tier 2 KG it’s going to be a hell of a week.

We tried to queue RET into FABL, but we think it was bugged. We got in there… there was basically nobody around. We found maybe 10 people total, and when we queued RET up, thinking we’d get at least half—we got 5.

So unless they was in the JP or something, there was something screwy with the queues today.

Hahaha I knew we were gonna get a forum post about that.

And yeah, the queues have been extra ridiculous lately. On Friday I waited 4 hours and still didn’t get in. Today I got in but only after 2 hours of waiting -_-
