plus if your runes have boon duration buff… (i have monk and water on one armor which will give me +30% duration)
This has been happening as far as I remember since game was launched. So could be even from beta test as well. And this happen quite often to me, but I haven’t figured out any consistency when it happens.
I use power/toughness/vitality armor and accessories set with rune of dolyak. all about survivability for WvW.
My goal was to find out which equipment is better so I used exact the same build. Only the difference was bersrker based armor/weapon/upgrades vs rampager based. As normal staff ele would do I used E2 —> F3 —> F2, then counted how many F1 I need to finish mobs.
I made both berserker and rampager armor/accessories set to test which is better for staff ele. I found rampager was better but so little difference perhaps next to no difference. Since rampager is cheaper I stick with rampager for now, but what is your opinion?

Wouldn’t it be also good idea to have A=10 and use 10 points for Earth for your own protection or 10 more for Water for more support related traits since Inscription only applies to yourself?
I also have support spec armor/accessories. For accessories I use +healing items and for runes I use 2 different types of runes to get more boon duration. With sup of water and monk, I can get 30% boon duration and everyone around me gets benefit of it from Elemental Attunement boons or water regen, not just me.

Stuff is fine and coming from GW1, ele without meteor shower is not ele! lol
I have balanced trait and have 4 sets of armors. Each armor are specific in use such as max dmg, max magic find, max healer/boon and max survivability. But which ever I use it really don’t make much difference (expect the survivability one), and the reason is it’s not about gears.
What you need is crowded control skills to keep mobs away. I have 1 favorite farm spot killing wolves at lvl 70. I aggro 3 to 5 of them to start and then wolves calls their buddies and some times there will be over 10 of them, I still can take them down no problem as long as I use control skills. Control FIRST then nuke.
I have been farming over 7 hours total by now but I only died 3 times? and when I am farming I am using magic find armor which is not the best dmg or defense armor.

I have the same problem, but I haven’t figure out how to fix it.
Playing ele since GW1 to BW1 to now. I still don’t see myself playing other professions.
I think Water Blast is working fine. With lvl 80, its heals around 450 every blast.
I am curious what kind of skill sequence other people use. I would like to keep this post just a list of skill seq so that people can read and try out and not crowded with criticisms.
Here is mine which I use for PvE and this is staff AoE build.
- Frozen Ground (W4) or Static Field (A5) for multiple foes, Lightning Surge (A2) for single target.
- Ice Spike (W2)
- Eruption (E2)
- Flame Burst (F3)
- Lava Font (F2) Need to complete this before eraption from step 3 occurs for 3 staks of might.
- If foe(s) is near you then Arcane Blast (utility) within Lava Font area. Combination of Lava Font, Eruption, and Elemental Attunement (arcane trait) will give you 7 stacks of might.
- Meteor Shower (F5)
- Use Arcane Shield (utility) as necessary to protect your self while casting Meteor Shower (this will give you also chance of explodes for more damage)
- Lava Font (F2) again
- Flame Burst (F3) again
- Glyph of Storms (utility)
Normally I stop after step 6 and spam Fireball til foe dies for normal small fight.
I switch attunement all the time and it’s better for following reasons.
1) You can keep casting skills without waiting for recharge. This means more damage, and multiple conditions on mobs.
2) While you are doing damage, you can also throw heal/defense/crowd control to keep you and your party safe. (Ele is squishy)
3) If you have Elemental Attunement trait, you and your party get boon every time you switch attunement.
