Upgrading &building siege NEEDS to reward WXP

The problem with upgrades giving wxp is people running into a tower thats under attack, seeing no current upgrade, and deciding to pop the merchant upgrade, while the rest of the team are using the tower supply to make arrow carts. Repairing is the same deal – someone drains all of stonemist’s supplies fixing a wall that is taking constant treb fire, and when the wall eventually dies there is no supply left to siege up the lord room.

Adding WXP to dolyak escorts is a possibility, as the original botting of that was for people to get the money/karma from it (spendable currency which can imbalance game economy – WXP cannot be used outside your character). However, a problem would be people running a program to farm the WXP while they’re sleeping – again, this would be a lesser problem than normal bots, as WXP cannot be traded across characters or accounts, so they have to risk their main char being reported.

there is a simple fix to the running in and upgrading, you reward the wxp when the upgrade finishes.

As i have stated in other posts about Wxp, i will state here. The biggest problem with the new system is it rewards in the wrong way. For one splitting Wxp is not the way to split up zergs. A better way and a way that would lead to IMO a better, more well rounded approach would be as follows. First, i am not sure if its worth any Wxp or not but defending needs to be worth alot more Wxp then attacking structures, camps, and dolyaks. It would be simple if you are on the defending side of an attack you get maybe 1.5x the wxp that the attackers would get if they capped + Wxp based on the number of people attacking the structure + the obvious Wxp from any kills you get.

so lets say an attacker would get 150 WXP for a structure, then a defender gets a base of 225 WXP for defending if they keep the structure then they get a bonus of maybe 10 wxp per attacking enemy( 10 may be high not sure of a good number but this is just for explanation sake). so in this scenerio lets say the defenders are succesful against 20 attackers then they would get 425 Wxp plus what ever they get from kills. Another bonus can be added whenever you get Wxp from taking or defending a structure based on how many structures your server currently holds.

This would help because it would give incentive to stay and defend your points. It would put a stop to the current mind set of, get a zerg cycle through a map and dont defend anything so that the enemy can reclaim and we can cycle again for more Wxp. Due to this behavior i have found it useless and a waste of money to even try to upgrade anything.

By giving incentive to defend structures it will naturally cause zergs to decrease in size due to the fact that they will not want to lose structures. It would be even more effective to have the last boost i mentioned.

The new rank system has further encouraged zerging and not defending points. As it stands you are better off taking a point and then losing it so you can retake it for more WvW exp. This could be fixed by giving huge exp boosts from defending a point, somewhere on the line of 3 to 4 times what you get from caping a point. Also try to have bonus exp based on how much you currently control. This would have a double benefit of you wouldn’t have servers trying to lose to drop in tier because they don’t like their current tier.

I was around for beta but i do agree that siege weapons need to be stronger.

Also it shouldnt be so easy to take structures
these should be the rough ratios it takes to take structures that have not been upgraded in any way in my opinion
towers for every 3 attackers 1 defenders should be able to hold off
keeps for every 6 attackers 1 defender should be able to hold off

We are a PvX guild, We do a little of everything. We have some type of event planned for every night, whether it be dungeons, PvP, WvW, open world/guild events, basically pick your poison. We encourage all to attend events whether you are new to the guild or a seasoned member of the guild. You will never feel pressured to do anything either. We are always willing to answer questions you may have. We have a vent server, many of us prefer to talk over type but we are willing to type if you don’t like vent. We are also willing to help whenever we can. We actually have an “Ask for help night”, for whatever things people may need.

Outside of the planned events we also have different people who enjoy and are focused on different aspects of the game. I am personally getting heavy into WvW, recently picked up commander, while not exclusively doing this it is starting to take up a lot more of my play time. So if you like WvW, I am looking for as many people as i can to grow our numbers there.

I think it would be a good idea to have server specific forums. Link access to the forums based on your accounts home server. The idea behind this is i think it would be a good place for WvW strategy talk and planning. while you can talk strategy in game, planning on a large scale is hard given people aren’t always on at the same time. Just a thought, what do other people think of this idea?

the real problem i guess is the fact that it can be camped so easily. Its to late now but the easiest solution would be to make it so that their is no place where you ahve safe high ground that can attack low ground maybe put some walls up around the arena so you cant look down into it or something

Ok so this needs to be a non combat zone. and needs to be something you get to from spawn not from keep.

The whole puzzle is horribly flawed in the sense that a group of 5 to 6 people can prevent anyone from completing the puzzle. make it so the only way to effect other players is through the built in traps and make it so the traps control obstacles in front of the traps so people cant get ahead and prevent people from moving forward.

I know people are not going to like this idea because they like to camp the puzzle but i have come to the conclusion that the only reason any one ever camps the puzzle is because they are so bad at WvW this is the only way they can get kills.

This is one of the better JP’s in the game and it is sad that people cant experience it because of players that have nothing better to do with their time then sit and wait for people to do the Jp

So this isnt so much a suggestion but a question. I am trying to find out if there is a good reason for anything to be soulbound before it is used. I personally feel that all items in game that are currently souldbound on acquire should be accountbound on acquire. So the question is, Why does souldbound on acquire need to exist?

I think there are many valid points as to possible ways of going about getting a precursor. It is obvious that it is agreed that precursor availability is a problem. The real debate is how to make it better. In my opinion the best way it could be done is as follows. To start all precursors should be accountbound on acquire in the system i am going to propose. Also with this anyone that has a precursor on the TP would get it back with there listing fee refunded. I also think legendaries should be accountbound. Neither of these should be purchasable on the trading post. You should not be able to buy your legendary it should be earned through playing. But to my idea of how getting precursors should work. This would take a large amount of work on anets part though as it would be a fairly large amount of content. For each precursor their should be a quest series started by some master weaponsmith of some sort. This series would send you all over the world as he would ask you to gather different components to make the weapon. With in the series there would be 5 choices. The first would be about the weapon type you want. The next would be about the main stat you want in the weapon. The next 2 about the secondary stats and the final about the sigil you want in it. ideally the series would have 5-10 quests between choices. so you are talking a 20-40 quests series to get the precursor. To add to it you make it so that for someone to solo any of these quests is near impossible, so it may require 2-4 people to complete these quests. The quests you end up doing would be directly based on the choices you make for your weapon. Example would be that if you choose condition damage you end up with alot of fights were enemies deal heavy condition damage or healing and all the enemies have ridiculous healing.

It is actually quicker through guild missions as you will be able to get 10 per week once your guild has all of the guild missions unlocked. its just at this early stage chances are the most a guild has unlocked is 2 which means you could get 4 per week. I think by next week it would be possible to have 3 unlocked if you wanted to drop large amount of influence and you unlocked correctly.

I have posted in response to these before and in WvW 2 simple changes to downed state would fix all the problems. The first being that there is no charge on a finisher to someone who is downed. You walk up to them hit f and they are dead. The second thing would be to standardize the downed skills for all classes in WvW. I think having the different skills is ok and kind of cool for pve but in WvW everyone should have the same skills

You can’t force an automatic TP though – that prevents a bit of ‘spying’ which can be useful. – Just blank out the nameplate.

IT’s cheap, exploitative and they don’t deserve it, they lost. They would be disposed of if the option was available, therefore they should be removed from the area.

the other reason that they shouldn’t be removed is the lack of WP’s in WvW. If i am ikittenerg attacking a garrison in borderlands and I die it would take a few minutes to get back to the battle. I dont know about spying but in big battles often you will die and then when your side makes a push you end up getting revived by allies.

thinking about it more maybe put the 25% chance in for veteran mobs only and reduce the number of vets but increase the number of trash, and make trash mobs really trash mobs, as in the trash should be equivalent difficulty inside and outside of a dungeon in a given area. AC trash should only take a few hits to kill for an 80 base character. So running a dungeon path may net you 8 – 12 T6 mats if you kill everything. Which seeem’s reasonable given that for most dungeons if you run a path and kill everything it will probably take you at least an hour

While there are many things that need to be fixed about WvW, this thread specifically talks about how the map layouts are decided. The simplest solution would be to put the matches on a three week cycle and put each server on each map. Then change up who is facing who. A large reason for this is map completion. while this system wont solve all map completion issues, such as if your server never gets the castlse in EB it will solve all other map completion issues as your server will have a chance to start with every node in a 3 week period. I bring this up because i finally got my map completion last night after waiting for about 2 months, It took this long because last night was the first time that my server had control of the red garrison in this amount of time. we took it from the red borderland, we have not been home on the red borderland in over 2 months.

I do agree that there needs to be more ways to differentiate characters as far as builds go. I think one big step for this would be to separate trait skills from stats. Make both work as they currently do but allow people to allocate points into stats and traits independent of one another.

Here is an idea give a reward for fighting trash in dungeons. Something along the lines of every mob has a 25% chance to drop a T6 mat, and as of right now you could pick a T6 mat for each dungeon.

i will put this simply you can go look it up, top exotic weapon damage is 904-1000, while legendary’s have a base damage of 980-1083 thus higher base damage. also the stat boost is slightly higher 98,70,70 opposed to 90,64,64.

You must have looked up different types of legendary and exotic weapons (like sword to greatsword) or something, because if you look at two of the same weapon side by side (like kudzu and the Pearl Stinger) exotic and the legendary have the same stats and strength.

Precursors are so high in cost because of how expensive it is to craft a rare weapon (tier 5 mats are expensive since the ban of bots).

If tier 5 mats went to the price that they had in September then you would see a dramatic drop in the price of precursors.

Yes and no, there is only a 0.023% chance to get a precursor from 4 80 rares. That is a huge number actually but that is the jist and that was from a guildwars guru site

If price is cheap – More people try to make precursors- means higher demand of precursors driving price up since the chance of getting a precursor from rares is .2% i think, the amount of precursors being demanded will be higher then the number entering the market, making them more expensive.

Their shouldn’t be a precursor market. If legendaries where only a skin it would be different but given that they are also a stat boost obtaining them shouldn’t be random or cost huge amounts of in game currency

The Legendary stats are only beneficial to a tanky class, they don’t benefit Condition builds, Berserk builds, Support builds, Boon builds. Then again i could be looking at the stats wrong but the last time I looked all legendary gave

I agree that Precursors need to have a better drop rate or at least a different way of obtaining them. Maybe perhaps making it so they can be obtained through a quest line. In the long quest line you get a choice between three sets of stats per an item, which ever stats you pick will be the stats for the legendary. This process will also add a story behind why it is legendary also. Arena Net if they did this needs to make that quest line Hard and lengthy maybe a 20 chain line. Make it so that these precursors are soulbond so they couldn’t be farmed and sold off in the TP. That way the CC Jockey’s would be stuck with the Power, toughness, Vitality models while the people that work for them can have a variety.

I know this isn’t the most sound proof Idea but at least we can have a reason to have a legendary, and stay with the Legendary is the Top tier of the weapons. Cause as of right not legendary’s are seriously trumped by the fact that Exotics have a different stat option which optimizes the weapon to specific builds. They way I look at it is Legendary is top of the tier for looks and nothing else, which I feel was not the intention of Arena Net.

For a very high armor target i will do slightly more damage with the exotic then the legendary due to the small amount of condition damage you get from an exotic weapon. Works out to about 5 dam/sec best case for exotic weapon condition damage bonus. for low armor targets the stats on the legendary are vastly superior to exotics as far as damage done is concerned. This comes from the fact that the legendary’s have a base weapon strength 80 higher than exotics. On top of this their are bosses that do not take condition damage and these bosses i would have a huge benefit with the legendary, like the elemental source in the snow fractal.

At what point does Power help your condition damage? Since Power increase your raw damage not condition. The stats you should be looking for is

Pricision, Condition damage, condition duration, crit damage then power.

Although in all of it Power usually comes in the stat set up for condition damage, even though it offers very little in way of a condition build.

the power doesnt help the condition build but i wasnt talking about doing more condition damage. what i was saying is my overall damage, condition combined with raw, would be higher in most cases with the higher base stats that the legendary’s provide, and as my previous post stated it is higher and you can look it up if you would like.

Legendary weapons HAVE THE SAME EXACT STATS AS A SOLDIERS EXOTIC WEAPON. THEY DO NOT HAVE HIGHER BASE ATTACK. Please check your facts.

This is the only, new, post with relevant information. Legendary is NOT the top teir of gear. Legendary is EQUAL to the top teir of gear. Currently the top teir of weapons is exotic, meaning Legendary is equal to exotic.

All you need to do to make the Legendary what you want it to be is transmute it to a level 80 exotic with the stats you want. Thanks to the change in the way transmutation works you will end up with level 80 exotic stats, but the new weapon will maintain legendary quality.

Why this is important. When Ascended weapons inevitably come out Legendaries will magically gain the stats of Ascended, since they will remain equal to the top teir. Therefore, if you transmuted your Legendary to new stats it should follow it’s design and gain the stats of the Ascended version of that load out. Theoretically.

The advantage to the instance based system is you lower the number of people doing the fight making it more interesting and challenging and it will also help with the culling issues that become present from so many people completing the event at the same time. I realize it would be more work and probably wouldn’t happen but i think that set up would make the fight more enjoyable as well fix the current problem.

I say get rid of timers and instance the events. You show up to where the event happens and you enter an instance to do the event. Maybe put a 50 player cap on the instance and treat the instance like an overflow where people from all servers pool into the same instances. So if you have a party of 5 people, all 5 people get thrown into the same instance. As far as pre events go you have 2 choices, either make the instance a large instance and have the pre events as part of the instance or make it so in order to enter the instance you have to have some sort of item obtained from doing an event.

The current system for precursors is flat out broken. The fact that an individual can play for 8 hours a day for a year and never see a precursor is a problem. Even if you do get a precursor drop it may not be the one you want and it may not be worth anywhere near the amount the one you want is. In my opinion what would be a good system would be to have a precursor vendor and have him sell precursors at something along the lines of 1000 tokens from each dungeon. Not only would this make it so that you can get the precursor you want it would promote people playing every dungeon. It just seems unbalanced to me that a person can get lucky and get their precursor and essentially have their legendary for a fraction of the cost of someone who never gets it and ends up having to get it on the TP.

I do not know how simple or hard this would really be as i dont know what the code base they are using looks like, i am a software dev, but i cant imagine it would be very hard to prevent people from getting world boss chests on servers other than their home server as this information is readily available as you can see your home server is listed as such in the server selection screen. This problem is growing way out of control at this point. I am currently on crystal desert and in one day i was unable to participate in 6 world events due to the fact that i was kicked to the overflow for all of them. I should not have to resort to guesting to a low pop server just so that i can participate in an event. Watching chat at some events i have seen people talking about how they are getting 25-40 world boss chests a day by guesting to other servers and using multiple chars. This is infuriating i just want to be able to do the event on my own server and the current state of the guesting system is making this impossible

From what I understand, and correct me if I am wrong, but you only receive credit once per character per chest regardless of how many different servers you do the event on.

If you swap servers after completing an event on one character, do the same event on the same character on a different server, you will not get any additional rewards.

I think you are misinformed about how the guesting effects a player’s ability to earn rewards.

Also… opening that many chests is completely possible without even server swapping.

I have 7 characters.

I can use 7 of my characters at the shadow behemoth for 7 chests.

I can use 7 of my characters at tequatl for 7 chests.

I can use 7 of my characters at claw of jormag for 7 chests.

I can use 7 of my characters at the shatterer for 7 chests.

…you get the idea

That is 28 chests without needing to swap servers, and there are plenty of events left to do besides the handful that I mentioned.

Though doing that many world events seems a bit tedious.

I don’t even understand WHY someone would want to swap servers to do events to begin with, unless they were attempting to get away from massive amounts of server population…. or they were too impatient to wait for a particular event to pop on their home server. …but even then, why not just do a different event on your homeworld?

I’m not saying people don’t do it, because it is possible….. it just doesn’t make any sense
unless you want to maximize your loot each day by doing every single event on every single character you have.

So the current state is that you can take a single character and get a chest from the same world event on the same day as long as you do it on a different server. This can be extended to more than 4 times if you get lucky and get into an overflow that has the event going on as well. so essentially on a single character it is possible to get 24 world boss chests in a day, 24 is off the top of my head because i can think of 8 world boss chests you can get, and this doesn’t include the possibility of getting on an overflow.

The chest limitation works on a server basis not on an account basis. This is where a large part of the problem is happening. I will say i did this once to test if I was right about the way it works and I am. I did kittenon my server post recent and got a box i then guested to another server and did kittenagain and again got a box. I personally do not plan to do this again because i dont want to be part of the problem and i personally know how annoying it is to not be able to get into an event on your own server.

This problem is growing way out of control at this point. I am currently on crystal desert and in one day i was unable to participate in 6 world events due to the fact that i was kicked to the overflow for all of them. I should not have to resort to guesting to a low pop server just so that i can participate in an event. Watching chat at some events i have seen people talking about how they are getting 25-40 world boss chests a day by guesting to other servers and using multiple chars. This is infuriating i just want to be able to do the event on my own server and the current state of the guesting system is making this impossible

This needs to be fixed ASAP as it is a serious problem if a player is unable to do an event because of people guesting on there server. My suggestion is to disable guesting completely until this issue is fixed

I will say that the leveling is very fast in this game. I currently have 3 80’s and they hit 80 in the following times from first to last 80, first 80 100 hours, second 80 80 hours and third 80 was 50 hours. I do think that these leveling times are way to fast. I should not be able to reach max level in an MMO i have never played in 100 hours. This being said i think a reasonable amount of play time to reach level 80 for a first time experienced MMO player would be closer to around 180-200 hours, this works out to about 3 hours a day for 2 months. The only reason i feel the leveling is to fast though is that with fast leveling all you have to work to until max level is leveling, So say getting nice drops at low levels isn’t really exciting seeming as though you will replace it in a couple of days.

You can trait for this but the trait is broken and doesn’t always work. The trait says 100% rally when killing an enemy and often it doesn’t rally you.

you would have to open the server up to every player to use as much as they want. Otherwise this would give an unfair economical advantage to players who were in the test server because they would know what items have potential to skyrocket in price on the TP with the upcoming patch.
