The really crappy part is that i’ve been in so many parties where people will get them and be like “hey, another one”. My best in game friend has 4 daggers, 2 pistols,a greatsword, and a rifle. He’s an elementalist, cant even use them. Me?
I get nothing. Hate this. Bought dyes and everything to make my armor match the weapons(which i really like the look of).
Not fun, not fun atall…
I made this thread over a month ago
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Fractal-Weapon-drop-rates
Inquiring as to how or why i wasn’t getting fractal skins. Since then, i’ve run the dungeon still, EVERY. SINGLE.DAY. Trying to get a skin. That’s over 60 times(26 and 30). To compare to other dungeons, that would be over 3600 tokens, almost two sets of armor and weapons. Not a single skin. I’m a warrior, i can use almost anything in the kittening book. But i get nothing. This isn’t fun. Why were fractal skins not made to be traded for relics? Hell you even made Ascended rings tradeable for relics.
Anet, please, change this as well.
I feel like i just browsed into the ‘weird’ part of youtube.
I thought as much as well, but those items all knock down, not stun.
When he spammed em on me, i had the floaty white lines over my head.
Nah, like i said, i have a thief and know all the thief Steal skills. As you said, there’s no way he could spam it like that. It simply has to be a consumable weapon item.
In WvW tonight, i was stunlocked by a consumable item that looked something like a black ball, or maybe cannonball. The Thief using them would spam them once or twice, then auto attack me once or twice, and repeat. Nothing i could do.
What are they/Where are they sold?
(no, its not a thief skill, i have a thief, we dont get anything like that)
Hey guys,
sorry about the video link, I hope it works this time. If it doesn’t it works by copying and pasting the link

Ok, I will pipe in here.
Some people really want everything spoon fed to them. The first night of the “prelude” (hint PRELUDE is not the entirety of anything) People were asking: where do I go, what do I do, is helping 75 people it? Let me get this done fast fast fast…tell me exactly, what do we do?
Others actually read the information given. I can hardly wait to see how these spoon fed people react if Guild Wars 2 does an April Fools day event like Guild Wars 1 did, and everyone thinks that its real or can’t figure it out because they are…well so used to being given pablum.
I am as critical of Arenanet’s mistakes as the next person, (you should see my private diatribes to them, its a wonder I have not been banned for just plain rudeness) But this is one time when they did it right. Perfect, in fact. At least for fans of old school RPG, and for the ENTIRE community. Not every one logs on every day, not everyone does things in 30 minutes (after being told exactly step by step what to do numerous times, and in numerous ways.) You know sometimes you have to actually READ the things those NPC say to you to progress or figure out what to do.
And sometimes …you have to wait for things to happen. You all need to go put a seed in a dixie cup of soil and see what happens.
No, we dont want things spoon fed to us. We are GETTING things spoonfed to us. We want the meal, to eat at our own pace. Some wanna do it fast? let them. You want to go slow and enjoy it in your way? Do it.
We’re here to have fun. Watching plants grow in cups isn’t fun.
EDIT: isn’t that the motto? Play your way?
So, did you do the events associated with the prelude? Did you read what the NPC’s said? Did you find the new structures? Did you muse about what all this could mean? Did you find some interesting people with some hints of what is to come?
Or did you just go light some fires and turn in trinkets and wonder if the PRELUDE was it?
Yep, did all that. they are one and the same. you’re trying to differentiate something that doesnt need to be. Players who went for the reward, got it, those who delved deeper, did so. In the end, it isn’t even enough to count as their ‘teaser’ content.
I would like to +1 this post, even though it is not very constructive.
Very let down with this event so far.

The devs did mention that this is merely a teaser to the living story. It gives players with little brain power chance to understand the idea behind the content….
Im gonna go out on a limb and say that more events and living story achievements will be layered on top before the next monthly update. You can still ‘start from the beginning’ of the content until an ‘evolution’ point where the next stage in the living story unfolds.
Atm its two zones with heart like tasks and new dynamic content. Back a while ago i read a developer talking about how easy it is to add new DEs upon existing ones, this means the prelude could still grow until the actual big content comes in. I expect dungeons and alot of DE content to come in this way.
Patience is a virtue.
See, that’s what i want. Give me more dynamic events, more dungeons, even more fractal levels to grind. Dont announce a big ole expansions worth of content and then give me two events and much needed bug tweaking and call that an expansion. If your ideas are on the money about more content to come, then i’ll be a happy camper.
Stop trying to please everyone with some new ‘groundbreaking’ story telling techniques and sell me an expansion with everything in one. There’s a reason that works for other games so well.
Yeah, no, ANET is no one’s God. Anet is offering something fun in return for some money. If you think for one second things wont change once the money flow starts changing, and can’t see that happening already, well, you keep preaching to your ‘god’ then. -smh-
You clearly have no understanding of the metaphorical.
You should find a different game. This one won’t please those who can’t grasp metaphors. :P
I dont have to look. I have more games ready. I wanted an MMO that’d last me for years like FFXI did. I’m hoping GW2 will be that game. You, and everyone else who wants to spout ‘just play another game’ changes nothing, i promise ANET wants my account and the money it generates between me and my wife. They want me to be good and pay, i want them to be good and deliver. This thread is about that, and your ‘metaphors’ or whatever dont contribute to the discussion.
They way over hyped this patch for what it is(even after they jumped in and stated they overstated with an expacs worth of content), which is basically going to amount standard monthly release quests/content.
The only thing saving face right now is PRELUDE being driven down our throats. What we pretty much ended up with was some quality of life fixes that were needed for months now, such as fractal disconnects, and a major tweak to orr.
The rest of this “expanion” will be delivered months down the road. Wait what? Yeah standard monthly patches that’s been done in mmo’s for many years.
Glad i’m not the only one seeing things in this way.
Life is not a video game. i go to video games to get away from the hassles of real life(IE: waiting)
Oh… There are so many philosophers could write entire essays and papers to refute you.
ANET is no one’s God either.
ANet is the God of the GW2 universe.
Check and Mate.

As a paying customer, i am displeased. We’ll just have to see how many more share my views. In either case, my days in gw2 seem to be numbered. sad.
Its not all about ‘letting everyone participate’! This is an unfolding story and the very first part involves helping the refugees flee from SOMETHING. What that something is remains a mystery but there are more and more refugees flowing into Hoelbrak and BC each day.
This event is a story and as such is a brand new type of event. I think having an indefinite pause between ‘chapters’ is an exciting way to introduce a major event happening ‘later in the book’. I love the idea because even though the first chapter wasnt majorly interesting it has set the tone for the rest of the event. Something big is about to happen and no one knows what!
What is brand new about this event exactly? We have a continuing story, just like all expansions that are…you know, expansions. With a full storyline taking you from one end to the other at your own pace.
This to me is a step back, as i now have to curtail my gaming habits to better fit in those who dont do things at my pace? I thought we played this game as we wanted?
Doesnt seem to be going that way.Im pretty sure im coming across as negative, and i feel very negative about it, sure, but i like this game, and want it to succeed. Going this route doesnt look like the route to success to me.
This would only be a relavent argument if they wernt also developing expantions as well as this content
MMO’s are always developing new content. Your point lacks substance in my eyes.
Yeah, living story, got that. Been helping refuges for days. Time to move on dont you think?
Does life move on when you want it to? No. It moves when it kitten well pleases.
Same principle, except in this case, ANet is our almighty God.

ANET is no one’s God either. I have 3 other games sitting on my hardrive, that i’ve been holding off on since i enjoy gw2 so much. I dont find myself enjoying these new changes, so will likely head to one of those. Coming from me, a fairly commited fellow(and officer of a 490 man guild), i’d call that a red flag.

Patience, grasshopper.
I think it’s really cool that this is intended to continue to play out over time. I understand wanting to see what’s next RIGHT NOW, but I can go off and do other things in the meantime. I think it’s good that there is time given for lots of players to experience the unfolding.
Thats the point of releasing content in my opinion, stuff i can do now.
Out of this major event/proloque/story, I’ve gotten a laurel i can get once per day(lol), and two events. It’s nice to be able to run off and do other things, but short of farming fractals for yellows, there’s just nothing left for me, and those like me, to do, you know? It’s like they are pushing off there more serious players for the ones that cant log in for a week to do the events. Hint: People who spend more time in game usually spend more money in the game. I know its not their intent to run the money off, but with nothing else for us to do, i’ll prolly end up on another game.
Not just all that but its also just a prolude an introduction if you will. And we know for a fact that this is only the smallst of the upcomeing content patchs
If these two events are the ‘smallest’ of the content to come, i fear to see what they call the biggest
After running 4 alts to 80 and fully gearing them, seeing all the different stories and doing all the dungeons enough to make my brain cry from boredom to get my armor,
I want more than two events. Give people time to do them, sure! Keep the two events running while giving the rest of us more stuff or something. I dont see them removing the personal story now that all of us have done it. Don’t see the big deal here.
If you’re playing a Mesmer, you won’t even need Pain Inverter, LOL.
Sure, no class really NEEDS anything, but when its time to hit the ‘blow up all my clones in his face’ button, id rather know i have a stun on him while my clones move in for the kill
This isn’t an event like Lost Shores or the holiday events… this is essentially an evolving expansion, with new things to discover being added slowly. It’s an arcing story line designed to go on for months. Not a bunch of brief content meant for you to get through in a few days. I think the blog post I linked to explains it quite well… what is so difficult to understand? This isn’t the type of new content that’s going to be flooded in over a couple of days.
[/quote]
So expansion was just a fluff word then? I’m confused. I read this as Flame and Frost: Prelude, an event type thing that would go on for a week or so before getting past the prelude, not one or two events that simply repeat.
Not very pleased with this content then, stretching an event out over months and calling it an expansion is boggling to me.
Lost shores event: few days
Halloween event: little longer
Wintersday event: more content stretched out over long period of time.
Flame and frost: Prelude: Couple events stretched out over months, if i understand you right.
Just seems like they are taking the content they have and are bloating it up more and more…
Yeah, living story, got that. Been helping refuges for days. Time to move on dont you think?
I’ve been checking around for new things to do, but there is nothing?
When does the rest of the content arrive? Why’s it taking so long?
Asura all the way. We get Pain Inverter, a use super useful stun for my thief. I made it as small as possible, and dont seem to get targetted much. Might be my imagination.
Still, Pain Inverter <3
I have never seen that behaviour in my life and quite frankly its total rubbish. You have my sympathy if people were kicking you from groups because you didn’t have enough achievement points. Gear elitists are bad enough, now there are achievement point elitists? lol
This is how i choose my pugs when leveling alts to 40 in AC Exp. Having a party full of folks who’ve been around the block before on their main’s makes doing the dungeon at 40 a breeze.
Having 4 people with 600 acievement points on THEIR main level 40’s is a much different experience.
Why do i need it? Seriously? Why do people need legendaries?
I’m not asking for an unfair playing field. Keep it the way it is, just let me do dailies on each of my characters so they can get their gear too.
To me, this is a no brainer.
I’m cool with grinding gear. I’m cool with gear treadmills. Because i can keep up with them.
What’s not okay is this laurel amulet stuff.
1 laurel a day? 35 a month roughly? Thats ONE AMULET anet.
I HAVE 6 CHARACTERS. That’s 6 months to gear them all with ONE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.
Fix it anet. Not Cool Man.
o.o I’d wager that you are very young, in which case, shame on you for not paying attention in spelling class, or
You don’t speak english very well, in which case, Google translate would probably do that post some serious justice.
In either case, i can’t understand what you are saying.
Invis Kits.
/thread.
So…you want to buy something…and…have that item give you back…what you paid for it…huh.
Boggling.
Dunno if you playing on a 4 inch laptop or something, but on mine, its a tiny bit of screen that i dont need or use. Flame on!
Foo. More Quaggan.
Doesnt look like a bug to me. You are lying to him because he refuses to tell you anything unless you are in the priory, as you ’wouldn’t understand’.
I haven’t gotten my gold yet friend
So when in lions arch on an overflow, the other zones dont display correctly for your home server. It makes me have to waypoint to an area in the zones that isnt contested, then WP to my desired area within the zone. please make it so that the map shows your home servers areas correctly.
But how would the magic find ninja’s be able to magic find then?! preposterous!
LOCK THIS THREAD I SAY!
(no pls, add it)
No, i have never come back from messing up the arm seals. ever. spent hours sometimes trying. Too much can go wrong. You’re bound to have one squishy or two in your party, and those will go down. Then while you are trying to pick them back up, you go down. dominoe effect ensues.
What i usually do is target one enemy, then say in party, in all caps, caps are important: DO NOT CHANGE TARGET, THIS TARGET DOES NOT DIE.
I find most pugs can formulate the idea that the target does not die. anything other than that, and you’re doomed to fail.
I firmly believe that SOMETHING is not right with their randomness, though i dont know if its per character or per account or what.
I have ran FOTM over 500 times(id wager over 600, but no way to know) and was at level 34 fracs a week after they released. EVERYDAY since then i ran 26 and 30, trying to get a fractal greatsword. I have not recieved ONE fractal weapon skin AT ALL. whereas others in my party or guild have 5 or 6 they can’t use, and have only JUST gotten to the level of fractals i am at.
I have since quit running fractals, there is nothing coming out of that dungeon for me.
Why the things weren’t bought with tokens in the first place, like all the other dungeons, is beyond me, and another topic altogether
rng is rng
I am at 31 and only have received a Fractal Rifle.
Done over 250 fractals as well
i hit the fractal 500 mark quite abit ago, which tells me i really should have gotten SOMETHING by now I dont care if it’s even something i can’t use, just SOMETHING to know i’m not bugged or something, like the neverending DR bug.
Curious as to the drop rate of the fractal weapons and any factors that play into getting them, as i seem to lack whatever those factors might be.
Ever since fractals were given to us, i have hit them every single day, never missing a chance to get the daily chests. I am currently level 34 in fractals, and have stopped progressing at that point until more is released.
Everyday i run 26 and 30, for at least the past two weeks, and yet i have not gotten a single fractal weapon. I’m a warrior, and i collect greatswords. That’s what i have my eyes set on. But i dont even get weapons i cant use.
So, what is the general consensus on drop rates? Will i ever have a real shot at getting one? ANY fractal weapon?
… kitten if i’m not tempted to find a fly hack and soar over the land, taking in all the beautiful sights in a birds eye perspective. Would love nothing more than to zip around snapping pictures of all the gorgeous work that has been done in this game. Kudos to ANET.
Maybe one day we’ll get air travel of some sort, even if on a designated path, like a vista, but one that takes you over the land… or(don’t kill me) like WoW with it’s flight paths.
Great game, one of the only ones that’s held me enthralled for so long. Thanks ANET.
Do some crafting. Artificing is the cheapest.
here’s a guide
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/63836-artificing-leveling-guide-0-400-cost-efficient-and-fast/
You are doing nothing wrong. You only get rings from the daily chests on even numbered levels starting at 10. I just received my first ascended ring after 15-18 daily chests. I also have only 6 vials. I have almost 1800 relics. Its just something about luck. You’ll get one if you keep playing. I was also frustrated about how long it was taking. You might get it next time and you might not get if for a week.
This explains much. i was under the impression they dropped from mobs, and had been running 17 over and over again trying to get one. this would be my issue. thank you!
Wondering if i’m doing something wrong in fractals or something, as I have almost 750 relics, and am on level 16 of the dungeon, but have yet to get any rings for agony resistance. People tell me at level 20 there are new rings to get…yet i havent gotten the first ones….I don’t run magic find gear, but i do eat Omnomberry bars all throughout the dungeons. I have also only gotten 2 drops of condensed vial essence in total.
Is this something i need to send in a ticket about? A bug? Or is my luck just that bad?
Attached screenshot showing fractal relics and drops, for whatever reason.
