Then I should clarify that I am definitely not an elitist by any means. It was sounding like you were based on the confession but if you are not then I am glad to hear. My goal was for you to recognize that staff Ele is just as viable as any other weapon set but if you’ve come to recognize that, great. That goes for nearly every class; certain ones being situational of course. Anyways, carry on.
Staff fire ele is the highest DPS in game. It is the go to build for additional eles in a party, with one going scepter or dagger focus for might stacks. Just wanted you to know. You should be pleased when you see a staff ele not attunement swapping unless they need to stack swiftness or want to use their earth blast.
Spamming 1 all the time with 3 signets and not moving at all at boss fights? No thanks.
Staff ele on mai trin? Witnessed today it can’t last literally 5 seconds in a fight.
Staff ele is fine on www when you need to control the crowd with stuns and freezes, but it is useless because bosses go right though it on dungeons.
As mentioned before, the staff Elementalist is indeed the highest DPS in the game. It really doesn’t matter what the utilities are. Also, staff is probably a better choice for Mai Trin anyways as it great support abilities party-wide. I generally retrait so my water skills are more powerful and shorter cool downs. The condition removal and constant heals are nice.
I wouldn’t let this one person taint your views on staff Ele. It is a shame that they weren’t switching attunements often, however, they were likely dying based on their positioning or perhaps their armor/gear. Could have easily have been a newer player or even a veteran player trying out Ele for one of the first times. As for Mai Trin, you do not want to be extremely far away from Mai Trin as she’ll just pistol-teleport to you which can be quite lethal. I’m sure you know how Mai Trin works so enough about that.
Anyways, kicking someone based on a weapon of choice would be a very one-dimensional way of thinking and should be changed especially when the weapon is identified as Ele staff, again, being probably the best choice for many situations.
Solved my own issue above. There is a check-box to disable camera shake… and it was right in front of me.
Yes ^. I have seen a few people that share the same account name but the digits next to their name are what make the accounts “unique”.
Mike.1234
Mike.5678
These are an example of two separate accounts. Same name but different digits.
There is one camera “feature” that I am not keen on and could not find a way to disable it. When using various skills that pound the ground or explode, your camera shakes or tilts for a moment. It’s creates more immersion, yes, but I am actually finding myself a bit nauseous because of it. Where is the option to turn it off? Thanks.
To go on the bug regarding the inability to chat in guild chat, when you are able to chat in guild chat (I was able to for a while), it disappears when you change to a different tab (even when guild chat is still one checked in that tab).
Along with the guild chat bugs, there are other guild related bugs. Guild build/upgrade queues only progress one upgrade at a time rather than the normal two.
The bug report feature does not work either as the different categories are replaced by a series of numbers (rather than normal text). Expect a lot of people reporting bugs here.
Hi Rome, sorry for the delayed response. In total we have ~130 members. Of this number, many play on a daily basis for several hours, some for a few hours, some more casual, and some alliance mates. We live by the motto “quality over quantity” so while we may not have huge numbers, we have quality members. Besides, a close-knit guild where everyone knows each other is better than a guild full of strangers, right?!
It’s quite nice actually. I like some of the features you have added as well as the seemingly easier navigation/accessibility for certain windows. The guild menu is quite interesting. If I may, there are a few unnecessary add-ons such as “speed clear” records for one example. It pertains to such a small community that I don’t think it’s all that necessary.
Good job!
Hi Valdur, sorry, I don’t tend to check forums as frequently as I might should. If you’re still interested, visit our website and fill out our super brief and painless questionnaire. It’s simply for us to get to know you more as a player and a person behind the screen.
That said, feel free to check us out this Wintersday season.
Nevermind, I found out that it was moved into the Looking For section. I feel like guilds should have a category of its own though.
I assume this wasn’t an oversight but the Guild Recruitment section is in the “Archives” category. Is this supposed to be correct…? Seems incredibly strange if so.
I’ve never had this issue before and it’s a recurring one now so something is wrong.
Could I possibly get an Anet employee response on this one. Thanks
Hi there,
I am not sure if I missed something in the update notes recently regarding the Watchwork Mining Pick. I just wanted some clarification if it was indeed “nerfed” or just a bug. The Watchwork Mining Pick used to drop the sprockets relatively frequently when mining nodes. I would generally get one or two per node sometimes. However, now I might get one single sprocket after several nodes mined. Is this intended? I hope not. I just wanted to post here to check and see.
Thanks in advance for the response.
Good to have you aboard, Crow!
Another bump from us at Vanquish. Patiently awaiting the holidays and Wintersday festivities to come!
Guhracie! Hi!
You’re right about a lot of these. I have been getting increasingly frustrated by the lack of communication between the various topics in here. Of course, replying to every single topic is not realistic but surely they can do a much better job than they are now. I know it isn’t just me – the lack of communication is becoming severely frustrating. I have been a player since Guild Wars 1 and during that time, I don’t remember the communication being nearly as bad as this. What happened since then? I also don’t wish to sound incredibly blunt but how does the company not do anything when they become the laughing stock of a running joke regarding the:

Exciting™
No specifics yet
Being considered
Being discussed

Under wraps
Can’t go into details
No timeframe yet

Communication importantJust my guesses.
You forgot “Nothing is off the table” in your list.
And just to add one from me: When it’s ready™
I’m sure this has been posted numerous times regarding the bug but I am going to post it again since I don’t want to fish through numbers of posts. How has this bug not been fixed yet? I don’t mean to get all negative, however, it is becoming increasingly hard not to when ArenaNet seems to prioritize fixes on bugs that are much more insignificant. It took them over a year to fix the Fractal Cultist Hammer bug, how long do we have to wait for the transformation skill bug? It is just getting frustrating now.
ETA on fix for this?
Someone was continuously jumping a the bank in LA so yep, I do feel as though the sound should just be made for the owners client only. It is pretty irritating now. I thought it was pretty comical at first but the novelty wore off. A way of muting it should be brought in.
Wonder if Anet is going to comment on this again or if they’re just going to neglect yet another topic.
A slider for this (or merged with player instrument volume) would be great. The novelty of the voice wore off on me.
Curtis, are other players intended to hear this? I am hearing other people’s robot go off and while it is comical, it interferes with some of the dialogue that I want to hear. If it is intended to do so, is there a way to shut him up? Obviously, I do not want to mute the dialogue sound option though this is the only way it seems to keep him quiet. Other solutions or others on the way?
Looks like we spoke on the Vanq forums!

I feel like replacing the old system with this is a very poor decision. While this system is easier to use, it’s frustrating for people that do not want to purchase a large sum of gems. You should have instead incorporated this new system WITH the old system. I would only use the conversion if I was off by a few gems (eg: 200 gems in wallet, desired item is 250 gems, use conversion to get 50 gems).
The new system is easy to use but you need to bring the old system of choosing any desired amount back as well.
I will be perfectly honest and say that this is how I am feeling:
Player-base: “I dislike and disagree with the changes that this patch brought.”
Anet: “You’re entitled to your own opinion as wrong as it is. We don’t care.”
Seriously, I get the feeling that they just don’t care anymore. That or they truly are in a financial struggle and this is the ONLY option they can make to keep the game alive. Unfortunately, the way that I personally see it, it’s only going to hinder them further.
When is the reset button being pressed? Most of the “features” associated with this patch was a mistake. You even have PC Gamer criticizing it.
This is happening again!? This happened with the April Feature Patch as well. It lasted 7 days and no compensation was given. I was one that was affected by it. Don’t hold your breath for a speedy fix and definitely don’t hold it for compensation.
Yep, had this happen to be about an hour ago.
If my theory is correct (and many changes over the past few months have supported it), the company is already in a financial struggle. As far as this patch goes, I think in time it will hurt them more than aid them. Less is going into the veteran players of this game and more is going to brand new players that currently don’t exist.
Guild Wars 2 new rating from the ESRB.
“Early Childhood”
Honestly though, I feel like I’m playing something that Fisherprice or Leapfrog created. I guess the running joke of the community now is that “X is too confusing” or “X is too overwhelming”.
I still don’t feel as though this is a positive change. The system wasn’t broken before and as the saying goes, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. I don’t know how many people were against the previous system but since it is the first time I have heard of it, I want to say it was a small percentile. Other things like the megaserver received much more negative feedback which should warrant a repeal but this is not the time nor thread for that.
All in all, I don’t think this was a logical/necessary change. Enough of my griping though.
Yes, me as well. The option to quit the episode hasn’t worked for me even before patch. It just shows right back up in the corner no matter how many times I quit it.
Previously, a lot of players found it very frustrating to have to interrupt the story steps to level up constantly to keep up.
I fail to understand how this system fixed it. You’re still interrupting the story steps and for longer periods of time. In my opinion, this system is worse since players are more bound to forget what had happened in the previous story steps. Logic these days.
Has there been a solution to this? I have it on numerous characters. I would just like to have the quest hidden since I have no desire to redo it multiple times.

Hi there,
I have this strange issue with the whisper function. Whenever I attempt to whisper someone whether it be right-clicking the person or by manually typing their name into the whisper box, it is unresponsive and it will not send or it will send several minutes later. This has been a recurring issue for quite some time now.
Any feedback on ArenaNet would be much appreciated.
I am finding the Living Story to be quite lackluster as well. An expansion should be implemented to give some life to this “Dying Story”.
Hi there,
I have completed the Living Story on a few characters now and have no desire to redo it on yet another character. However, when I go to click the “quit this episode” button, the quest icon will remove for a brief moment and then appear back in the upper-right hand corner. This only seems to be an issue for one of my characters. I can replay a past episode and then click “quit this episode” but it will then immediately activate and start the most recent episode.
As mentioned, I have no desire to replay the episode and would like to free up the space in the quest menu.
Thanks.
Hi there, as of today, I have received multiple crashes due to a memory error. This has never happened up until today.
I don’t know what information I can really provide you with since that “crash help” sticky guide is not working.
I don’t run very many background operations other than my internet browser at times and Skype or Teamspeak. I have ample memory on the computer as is. Again, this has only began to happen as of today.
I’m disappointed in the recent post and I’m still very disappointed in the megaserver. I need not say more.
Yeah, crap like this had been bugged for months now. As mentioned in a previous post I wrote, the Molten Facility weapons testing fractal has been bugged for months now. I received an email from ArenaNet saying there is no ETA on this whatsoever. I’m lead to believe that they simply aren’t working on it. It doesn’t seem to be that hard to fix or at least change. Part of this fractal requires people to be careful when ascending. One misstep, you hit the wind spout things and fall off. Good game.
It’s not really an optimal solution since the issue should be fixed but has your party tried wiping completely? Everyone needs to have died in the party, then use the checkpoint. The hammer should be where you hammered the first seal.
Fractals is probably the buggiest piece of content in the game as it is. Keep an eye on Frostbite during the Weapons Testing Molten Facility fractal. If he gets stuck, well there is absolutely no way to fix that one that I know of. Been a bug since around Christmas time. No fix for it yet either.
This isn’t just an issue dedicated to Mount Maelstrom, this is happening to numerous maps including (but perhaps not limited to) Queensdale, Kessex Hills, Lornar’s Pass, Gendarran Fields as well as Fields of Ruin.
How I know this? I’ve been fortunate enough (for once) to not have a Guild Wars bug associated with this one. My friends and guild mates, however, have been having this issue with the above maps. Because of this, guild missions in particular becomes increasingly difficult to organize when taking these maps into factor.
This needs to be fixed ASAP.
Edit: I should also mention that most of these friends and guildies come from Tarnished Coast. Guesting has not been successful as of late either.

Yep, a guild mate of mine is having a very similar issue – she cannot log into any characters that are parked in Queensdale, Fields of Ruin and Kessex.
It is tough to say what alternative achievements should be like without adding extra things onto the LS. I think it would be fun if there were secrets or hidden things to find. Has anyone played any of the Tomb Raider games? I thought it was a lot of fun doing the riddles within the Croft Manor; one clue lead to another clue, that clue lead to another, so on and so forth. I think it would be a lot of fun to have something like that for the achievements section. Honestly, I feel like they should have /spoiler alert/ done it for the crown quest.
Great, thanks. Finished the story and got it then.
Yeah, I think the Strike’s Out achievement is bugged unless the description of it is just incredibly vague. I’ve been trying to get this achievement for a bit now and each time I dodge, nothing happens. The achievement still sits on my UI as well as in the achievements hero panel section. Am I supposed to complete the instance having dodged the shockwave at least once (making it a vague achievement) or is it simply just bugged for me?
(edited by weskay.9217)
Having to do a certain quest over and over again is what gets tedious and boring. The old-style of achievements were something along the lines of: kill boss without getting X on you or kill X amount of enemies in the map. It was just grindy, tedious and boring. The achievements they have now are not any better (some anyways). Take the Foefire quest for example. Kill Barridan without getting knocked down or back. One knockdown/back and you’re out. Reset. It’s just as grindy, tedious, and boring.
(edited by weskay.9217)
I really do hope you are right.
I’m beginning to think this thread was just a joke from Anet. “Here, have a thread to talk about the Megaserver even though we’re not going to do anything about it ever.”
Anyways, I wish I could share your optimism on this. I’ll be a much happier player and customer if they change it back or do something with it that isn’t this crappy.
You know, I actually do like Trahearne’s character. I don’t think he ruined the initial personal story by any means nor do I see him destroying this one. I do, however, hope that the voice actor drinks a Red Bull or some coffee before he reads his lines. He just sounded so bored. Everyone is right in saying that he lacks a lot of emotion. Trahearne is indeed just too monotone.
I haven’t even played through the content but yes, I do not like this patch so far regarding the open world. The time-gated events and such was one of the major turn offs for me in the Living Story S1. Some of the reasoning as to why I don’t like them is because:
1. As mentioned before, most of these events are just a large zerg (maybe only for the moment) which then causes massive lag. To some of those that have outstanding computer, it will not cause lag; kudos to you.
2. I find it counter-intuitive (if that is an appropriate word for this). I feel like a story should be centered around characters and how they develop. The events just feel like filler garbage that doesn’t really add to much of a story. It’s simply boring.
3. With the above note said, the instanced events they have created now are much better as far as a story goes. There is ample voiced dialogue which again, in my opinion goes a long way. The walls of text from the events are yet again boring.
4. Lastly, I realize this is an MMO and it is meant to be played with others; however, many players are not team-oriented and simply play for themselves or simply have a very kitten-poor attitude. I love the instanced story chapters because I can avoid all of the attitudes and drama that people like to stir. If I want drama and attitude, I will go pug a dungeon.
I could add more to this but I think most of you get the gist of it. I hope that these events don’t come too often. Come to think about it, this Living Story is supposed to be replayable. Are they going to have these vines and events associated with them here forever now? Instanced stories are much easier to have replayable.
Anyways, enough blabbing from me. Continue the instanced content please!
