Yeah it’s pretty ridiculous to have a daily like this when no others have a major time restriction such as this one. Even on a rotating schedule, there will be individuals that cannot get it. Yes, the rash thinkers will simply say don’t do it, but really, for a daily that has this type of restriction? Why? Monumental decision made yet again by geniuses. ::rolls eyes::

Refund For Private PvP Arena?

in PvP

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

Obviously a bit of a joke since there is already posts about it, though it does seem a little redundant to even have a private arena anymore when you’ll have to do “proper” PvP for it. As someone that has done proper PvP in the past and no longer enjoys it, the arena was my last enjoyment as far as PvP goes to do a few matches for the dailies. Since there’s no rhyme or reason to use it anymore, why even bother having them anymore?

Yes, I am disappointed at their decision and hoping they’ll revisit it but judging by their previous releases, they rarely ever look back on a decisions so no point in arguing. Unfortunately for most, it’s not going to force non-PvP’ers/retired-PvP’ers into the proper rooms, they’ll just be out of one more thing they were previously interested in. As someone else stated in a different article, they will look for other things, usually in a different game. A rather silly decision was made that offers little-to-no positives. Should have just kept it as is.

Last night and the nights before that have been fine for me too. Only tonight since the patch have been an issue. The game does seem to be a little “slow” tonight as well though, so that could easily be it. Maybe I’ll try later but it definitely seems broken at the moment for me.

The end of the clock tower seems to be bugged. When the face is destroyed, it doesn’t actually seem to open any space for the player to jump; it’s like you’re just jumping into a wall and get hit by the green mist. This only seems noticeable after the most reset patch/update. I had been doing this jumping puzzle just fine previously up until tonight. I’ve even tried jumping early and late. Nothing seems to work.

Option to hide other player's backpack

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

I do get where the OP is coming from. I find many of the backpacks to be excessively large as well. However, my issues rests mostly when you’re in a group and you’re trying to look for certain actions, identifiers, AOE rings, etc. but you’re being obstructed by obnoxious hindrances. You can’t single out the backpacks for this though. A lot of the issue is due to the skill effects and such but that’s for a separate thread.

I’d be in favor of hiding backpacks since the Model Quality drop-down menu does not hide them, only obnoxious armor. Though I feel like it is a ‘battle’ that won’t really be won since it doesn’t seem to be a large enough issue.

Gift of Battle: Did I Miss Something?

in WvW

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

While I understand your point about a Legendary not being a need – you’re right, it’s certainly a want – but in my situation, I have accomplished almost everything that I can think of at the top of my head except for continuing on with some Legendary weapon progression. Currently, it’s one of few things that keep me engaged in the game. Frankly, it is also something I enjoy for the most part. I just don’t appreciate having to do something that negatively effects both sides of the player-base.

As I am writing this, I have AFK’d for about 5 hours. I’ve put a solid dent in my reward track but I do feel for those that would rather have my spot in a queued server. I’ve had a few nasty PM’s and a few nasty remarks in say chat but they shouldn’t even be directed at me. I’m AFKing here because ArenaNet decided it was OK to do so by implementing a reward track.

Despite my post sounding frustrated or angry, I’m really not. Yes, I would much rather be actually doing something I enjoy in-game with my time but I really have zero issues watching Netflix while I AFK for several hours. I just think it’s important to bring light of something that should be changed (again). I too feel for those that are WvW’ers that do not wish to go to PvE to get map exploration. There should be options for you too. Perhaps Map Exploration reward tracks. Mind you, it might have to take you several reward tracks to complete to compare it to regular map exploration. I just feel like this was a poor change on ANet’s part for all parties.

Except that taking up a PvE slot has no meaning as there is an infinite amount. Listen, if there was a way that you didn’t have to do map completion, I’d be behind that too. I don’t agree that players have to be forced to do something they don’t want to. Perhaps including a few reward track steps for that mastery would be an idea. Unfortunately it’s not the case right now.

Thanks for the response. Time to afk!

Gift of Battle: Did I Miss Something?

in WvW

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

So I was under the impression that a reward track was included as a means to get a Gift of Battle without removing the vendor. I went to find the vendor and it does not exist. Am I missing something or is the only way to get this Gift of Battle by doing WvW now?

In the past, I have done quite a bit of WvW but the interest is no longer there. To me it just feels like the same circuit over and over again. If I want to make one more legendary, am I forced to do something I don’t really enjoy anymore and take up a WvW “slot” now? Because if so, I’m just going to go in, get to the max “tick cap” and AFK til the meter starts to go down again then tag another event quickly. It seems pretty counterproductive to have someone like myself go in there just to eventually get the reward track done when someone who actually wants to be in there contributing to the server could be.

If this is the only means of getting this done currently, are there others that people know about that will be coming out in the future?

Assembly Device Continuing Issues

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

I’m sure this has been posted about ages ago, as a refresher I wanted to point out that the Assembly Device is still incredibly problematic. The main issues are:

-Cannot use the device unless actually standing on it (very closely to the center core) when in the Guilded Hollow (not sure about Lost Precipice).
-Trying to queue various upgrades is extremely unresponsive. You literally have to spam the upgrades for them to even appear on the processing line. To elaborate, if I want to queue up Guild World Event for it to “build”, I have to click on it (without exaggeration) nearly 50 times before it actually goes in the processing line.

While I understand this bug isn’t game breaking, it certainly has gone on for a very long time that I feel like it should be looked at. As someone that tries to use this on a regular basis, please fix this.

Thank you.

Hello citizens of Tyria!

Vanquish has officially maxed their guild hall as of May. If you like the luxuries of a full guild hall, Vanquish has it. However, we are more than just a guild with a maxed out guild hall:

Vanquish is generally focused on PvE content such as Fractals (of any scale), map meta-events, large and small scale events and chains, dungeons, traditional boss tours around reset, guild missions (twice a week), and more!

We’re a flexible and accommodating guild for build versatility in that we never have and never will force meta on you (we actually encourage you to think outside the box and run things other than meta!). Some exceptions may apply when necessary*.

New Raid Wing Question

Except you cannot run anything but the meta for the entirety of the first raid. Gorseval is on a mandatory timer (unlike the Vale Guardian). You have to beat it in the specified time or you will not make it through. Thus, making any builds that are even moderately more on the defensive or support spectrum obsolete based on a game that initially boasted its “play how you want” notion. So I’m wondering if this new raid, unlike the first, follows this original idea or if it is just a repeat of the previous raid wing.

New Raid Wing Question

The new raid wing is released today. The first raid, to me, was a bit of a disappointment as I am someone who enjoys versatility in builds and groups. I played GW1’s “elite end-game” content enough to turn me off from heavy restrictions.

To make this super short, is this new raid wing a lot more accommodating to builds or is it still heavily non-inclusive like the first one?

Keep it on topic peoples, I just want a simple answer – egos not necessary here.

What Is In the Forseeable Future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

weskay.9217

Some interesting points in here. If the White Mantle are indeed coming back, that could make the story interesting for me, but as someone pointed out above, the storyline has always been quite quick. The HoT storyline (assuming that there are no future add-ons which, if I recall correctly, they won’t do) was quite small. I got through it all in maybe a couple of hours max, if that. I don’t want to derail the topic to another one of those HoT topics, though I do agree that the expansion did seem a bit lackluster based on its pricing.

So yes, the storyline which could include the White Mantle could interest me, but if the storyline is as quick as it has been, I will only enjoy it for a few hours max then I am back to square one, unfortunately. I don’t care for the bi-weekly Living Story releases either. Half of the time, I forgot pieces of what happened in the previous episode and don’t feel like I’m nearly as engaged in the story as I could be if it was all released in one, much like HoT.

Still not much news for my vision of “end-game” though. The new Fractal worlds might be interesting, but the rewards are still problematic to me and since they just “revamped” them, I don’t see them making any changes soon.

What Is In the Forseeable Future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

Feel free to redirect me to an already-made post regarding this if there is one, I simply didn’t want to sift through hundreds or thousands of posts about future content.

Having enjoyed the GW series quite well – for the most part – I don’t wish to point out flaws, I’m just a curious individual wondering what the future holds for GW2.

I’m mainly curious about “end-game”. While I understand the term end-game differs from person to person, my definition of end-game would be best given through examples. My end-game was Fractals of the Mists and Dungeons for GW2 and was Fissure of Woe, Underworld and Domain of Anguish for GW1. They’re something you can enjoy for long-ish periods of time with chances at getting some cool loot or fancy items/skins.

In my opinion, I felt like with the HoT expansion, my enjoyment from Fractals dwindled quite fast because of the change in rewards. I do, however, like the changes to the scales/levels and them being done in a series of three rather than four (for the daily reward chest, at least). I miss the excitement of a guildmate or I getting an ascended chest at the end chest of Fractals. Now, I feel like despite the “fix” to the loot, the drop-rate of ascended chests is still extraordinarily low. I will generalize here but almost every day, someone in my guild would have gotten one ascended chest per day. (Let me include ascended chests from PvP, world bosses, WvW, or otherwise in this mix as well). Since the release of HoT almost four months ago, I feel like the guild in total has had maybe about ten ascended chests drop. This drop-rate has been noticeable to basically everyone in the guild.

Once again, my point was not to become negative and point out flaws, I just wanted to back a point up. I used to thoroughly enjoy Fractals but because of the change in rewards, I don’t feel that enjoyment anymore.

The dungeon rewards were nerfed to make Fractals and Raids seemingly more desirable in terms of rewards. Instead of increasing the rewards in those two areas, they nerfed dungeons. I understand why they did this but I don’t have to agree with it. Because of this, I feel like my enjoyment from dungeons petered off as well.

There is raids but being an advocate of build diversity, a full, successful raid is out of the question since most bosses require you to run a single build/set of stats out of a very limited selection. I’m not interested in that.

This leaves me with a feeling of “what to do now?”. I’m simply curious to see what we as a player base can expect moving forward into GW2. I hear that there will be new raid wings. I want to be excited for this so long as the point I made about raids above is quashed. Any chance we could get news/updates on this?

I want to be engaged in this world but unfortunately, I have been logging in far less because my interest has been fairly rapidly dwindling. Is there anything the developers are able to talk about?

Comparison: Eye of the North and HoT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

Whether or not his list is 100% accurate, from a GW1 player, he isn’t wrong. While I am enjoying HoT for the most part, the novelty is quickly wearing off on me to the point where I am losing interest very quickly. GW1 and its expansion did not lose my interest nearly as quick.

What I think is the problem? Well I think it’s ArenaNet’s decision to “postpone” the expansion’s content in segments. Releasing all of the content all at once similar to GW1’s expansion would give the players the freedom to play the content at their leisure. Play as fast or as slow as you want. Yes, the people that sail through it will get bored quicker but not as quick as how their system is now. If people are kept waiting too long in between content releases, people are less likely to return back to those.

At the end of the day, however, ArenaNet has its money and as unfortunate as it is to say, the company is not like it once was in GW1. Money > Player Satisfaction it seems lately.

Two Cents About Raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

You know, it’s not even an “anti-zerk” thread; I’m not hard-charging for it to be removed completely. It serves its purpose in speed clear dungeons and perhaps earlier Fractal levels respectively. It’s simply just time for something different for raids.

Include more difficult mechanics that are more damaging to the squishy members forcing people to actually think harder about build set-ups. It’s too easy to just throw together berserker armor and away you go. There is no challenge. Scale down the HP to make the fights less time consuming if you have to.

My two cents is just to make the content more challenging instead of more of the same thing that we have been doing for 3+ years.

Two Cents About Raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

First off, the aim of this post is (hopefully) for the developers of the raid instances to read this and take it with them for future raids. Optimistically thinking, sure, but nothing will change if you don’t speak up.

I want to keep this fairly short and simple and I also don’t want this to topic to be derailed by asinine comments.

At first, I was under the initial impression that raids were going to be done in an almost “pseudo-Holy-Trinity” system. Essentially, groups would require a couple healers, a tank, and the rest a mix of various DPS classes. This notion of mine was reinforced with the majority of the elite specializations being somewhat centered around either support or defense for a team. (We see this with Druid, Herald, Chronomancer, and Tempest as four examples). Furthermore, an ArenaNet post that is now far down the page-list read that raids would be the new “challenging” content. This is not meant to come across as “elitist”, I simply disagree and do not find the raid challenging. What am I getting at here? Well…:

(Trying to keep this as short as possible) As a first initial impression from the first raid “area”, the mechanics are interesting though not particularly challenging for the first three targets; no need for tanks or healers if your party can strafe. Move forward to the boss: it is just a combination of the three targets we fought beforehand all compiled into one. Yes, things get more tougher but it’s not particularly hard if your group is well coordinated and organized through means of voice communications. This is not my issue though. My issue is that everything that raids were implied to have simply do not exist. Instead of having to work on group unity with builds that compliment and mesh one-another, we get more of the same that we have been doing for the past three years. Instead of this pseudo-Holy-Trinity, once again, we get more of the same that we have been doing for the past three years. This is the ‘infamous’ “Berserker-Meta”. Now once again, I’m not looking for this to be derailed by hostility, this is my thoughts and observations.

I feel like the main “culprit” of this, if you will, is the timed boss at the end. This timed boss essentially forces people to not run anything that would reduce your damage so instead, people are almost forced into the glassiest of builds. I understand that the boss doesn’t need to be killed in the eight minute time limit, though you have to think, what’s the point of the timer if you’re not supposed to kill it within that allotted time? This reinforced this Berserker-Meta that is not new or innovative and is something that more and more people are becoming more and more bored with. In turn, this is off-putting more and more people to raids altogether (from my circle of friends and guild mates). Because raiding is the future to GW2’s end-game, we need to see some changes. All of this is making raids not new, not innovative, not challenging and simply not interesting nor engaging.

The solution? It could be as as simple as removing the time limit on the end boss. You want raids to be challenging? Perhaps have that 200% damage buff persistent throughout the entire fight forcing the implied notion that a pseudo-Holy-Trinity is needed. There are likely other solutions too, this is just my two cents about raids.

This post was rushed together but I think my point was made. Thanks for listening and hopefully we can see some improvements for the future wings and hopefully make some changes to the current ones.

Fastest way to level up Mastery Ranks?

Doing events is probably the best way to get XP, yes.

If you have multiple characters, take them through a hero point circuit. Because I have oodles of characters, I managed to get a lot of XP by just doing those while exploring and doing the odd event that pops up here and there.

I don’t really find them much of a nuisance anymore. Usually a simple snare of some sort will work. Mind you, I generally also run more defensive stuff.

How come GW2 community is so nice?

Guild Wars 1 had a great community. While GW2 isn’t bad, it definitely isn’t what GW1 was. I’m glad you feel differently though! I just find that there is a lot of hostility and toxicity in group/party formations especially with build setups. All-around/general game-play is fairly friendly for the most part. With any game, you’ll always come across those few crap-stirrers.
