That could be the reason although I was on the Northern Shiverpeaks server a long time ago (which at the time were quite bad at WvW) and always had 10 ticks on a rich node as well. Very, very strange.

Yes, Orangensaft shares the same standing point as me. I have always gotten 10 from any rich node whether I was in a guild or not. I never use those boosters either.

I asked my guild and the ones that paid attention/remembered their gathering said it was always 10 as well. To the people that did not remember, I asked them if they had to use the “gather” command three or four times. They responded with four which would mean 10 times.

Before the patch, you were able to mine rich nodes 10 times at minimum, now you are only able to mine them 8 times. This was not on the patch notes so either it’s a bug or it was a sneaky move by someone. What is the logic in this? Quite absurd if you ask me.

Daily Objectives and Materials Broken

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

I am sure there is another post about this somewhere down the pages so I will keep this brief.

Everyday since the patch, my dailies do not reset and they are always at 5/5. I can no longer make my ascended materials either which is the main problem. I haven’t been able to make any ascended materials for a few days now. I can’t do dungeons anymore now either because it registers that I have already done it today. I can’t do jumping puzzles either because the chests think I have done that today as well.

I understand that there are other bugs that need to be fixed but how does this not take priority over some?

weskay.9217

Matchmaking has not changed. We stopped showing ranks because they were being used incorrectly (as if they implied skill rather than time invested), causing a toxic environment where players felt justified (wrongly) while harassing each other.

We are working on changes to matchmaking, but those changes are unrelated to the decision to not show ranks.

That said, there has been a huge influx of new players, and this is likely what you are noticing. They are likely going to need some time to learn the ropes and figure out how to play. May I suggest taking a patient, mentoring approach?

Glad to hear you’re working on this. Again, I don’t mean to sound like an “elitist jerk” by any means. In my guild, we help out new people to PvP and it’s great. I don’t mind helping people at all but there are times where I just want to have a few quick and fun games without having the need to teach others. Eventually it gets tiring!

Will You Be Playing GW2 Less Post Patch ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

I haven’t formed a solid opinion on it yet but it’s beginning to sway to playing less, yes. Too many zergy content now. Scheduled bosses are boring and should not have even been implemented in the first place; bosses should have been scaled properly. I was an avid PvP’er but now the matchmaking is completely borked that I am constantly playing with people that think the point of tPvP is to chase people and play as if it were a free-for-all. MegaServer is already becoming problematic with numerous reasons. I won’t get into it, you can read my other posts if you’re interested to hear that.

Unless some changes happen in the next little while regarding this, I might not be playing this as much (or at all as unfortunate as it is).

I noticed that too. I feel like this “way of matchmaking” is going to create a very similar issue to what Guild Wars 1 had for Heroes Ascent. That is, people would form parties and force players to show their rank title (/rank to show emote in GW2 I suppose).

This system needs a rework if this is supposed to be permanent because this isn’t exactly kosher.

Since my guild and alliance do guild missions on a regular basis, I spend a fair chunk of my commendations on weapons. I recently acquired a new weapon that I like more and have no more use for the Guild Compound Bow that I purchased ages ago. I do want the sigil from it however. I can’t seem to salvage the bow at all. It is marked red when I try to.

Is this a bug or have these weapons always been non-salvageable? I’d like to get my sigil back but I am not spending 250 gems on a single use Upgrade Extractor because that’s absurd.

Thanks for the help/answers in advance.

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

Yeah so I have been enjoying PvP for a number of months now and enjoyed the fact that if I was going in alone, I would get paired up with people appropriate to my level. Now that this update has hit, (and please excuse the super elitist vibe that I know this will shed) I have not had one match where I felt my team was at my level of skill. Everyone was chasing enemies off point as if it was a free-for-all. Few people even cared about capping. Barely anyone fought on point.

I get that this PvP change will bring in new players but does that really mean the veterans that play this should be hindered? I don’t even want to PvP anymore because the pairing is becoming far too frustrating.

Will there be a rework with the match-ups and pairing?

Game Updates: Guild World Events, Megaservers, WvW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

weskay.9217

I really did not like the idea of the MegaServer from the get-go but I thought I’d keep an open mind after days of complaining. Yesterday is when the patch rolled in and I must say I have already had a bad first impression.

I was in a party with someone that was in my own home server (Tarnished Coast). We were in the same city (The Grove) but guess what? We were NOT in the same “district”. Sure we could’ve just easily clicked the ‘join player in…’ button but Anet said we would be paired with people in our party, friends list, and server. Hmm, that’s funny, I’m 3/3 on the checklist and we still were in a different district.

The chat that was coming from the town was completely ridiculous as well. I know that you’ll always have those “clowns” that talk trash or mindless hoo-ha. I chose Tarnished Coast as my server because from talking to other people in the server prior to transferring, they said TC had some enjoyable people to play with. Well they were certainly right! TC has been a blast. Notice the past tense there.

I was doing an event last night in Orr. As far as I’m aware, Orr has not been affected by the MegaServer but it gave me a taste of what it would be like. I have to say, I did not like it one bit. There was way too many people there. My FPS lowered significantly. I can just see how every major event will turn into this 100+ person crowd. I do not like this at all and neither did the people in my guild at the time.

I won’t elaborate further as I am sure you get the gist of it. Please Anet, stop with this MegaServer now!

Yeah, I’m reading about the disappointment in the town clothes/outfit being un-mixable. I too am disappointed at this. I had my Pirate Outfit mixed with a few other things and really liked it on my female character. Unfortunately now, with the bulky shoes and the (for the lack of a better word) ugly hat, I don’t want to wear it.

Will we be able to mix and match at all in the future? This is highly upsetting.

I’m not sure if this has even been mentioned but with huge zergs and this -maybe implemented- scheduling system, what are the odds that botting will become popular? I don’t know how botters do it but it really doesn’t seem excruciatingly hard to set something up especially if there’s 100+ people at every world boss now. Wouldn’t be very easy to scout out either I reckon, considering everyone is literally going to be running there, auto-attacking, then alt-tabbing to watch reruns of Bob Saget’s Full House on YouTube.

This system is just a crock.

Update on the MegaServer roll-out plan

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

As I said before, there is nothing horrendously wrong with the current way things are. This MegaServer is completely unnecessary. Listen to your players, Anet. The negatives are outweighing the positives. A lot of people are mentioning leaving your game if this is implemented. Sure, a lot of people talk the walk but not everyone walks the talk. Aren’t your players’ comments and concerns important to you?

If you want some constructive criticism or perhaps a different “solution” to something, let me throw one forth. Do not change any server or its own zones (as in Caledon Forest, Fields of Ruin, etc). Instead, create a completely optional MegaServer for those that want to be in zones filled with hundreds of other players. Allow players to have the choice to either stay in their own server zone or go to the MegaServer zone. Heck, since people have been complaining about overflows being “sucky” in certain events, get rid of overflows altogether as well. Instead, place them into the MegaServer until there is room to go back to their home server, if the player so wishes. People that ultimately are opposed to this MegaServer idea simply do not ever have to go there if they do not want to. They can stay put in their home server that people chose to be in at the start of playing or payed a generous sum of gold (or real life money) to transfer to a specific server. For those that are in support of the MegaServer, those players can choose to go to that MegaServer with the click of a button implemented in your map screen (or some other convenient place).

I know this isn’t the -best- option by any means but I feel like this is a better step forward than forcing everyone to be a part of this MegaServer that seemingly more people are opposed to.

Thanks for reading.

Also, the problem with Tequatl is the lack of scaling, not scheduling.

Thank you. This is what I’ve been telling people in-game for a long time! Who gives a rats -behind- about scheduling. I’d be really happy if I could do this with the 30 guildies online on the weekend successfully rather than having to wait 1,5 hours in Sparkfly and jump through all these ridiculous hoops just to get 100+ people to kill it. Absolutely asinine in my opinion.

As the saying goes: “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”

I don’t see how our current system is really broken. If you take a look at the other forums regarding this massive server, I believe the negatives outweigh the positives. I see why they would like to do this but after reading numerous forum posts, this does not seem to be what the majority of the public wants – myself included. I’m not going to go into full detail about this anymore but I think Anet is going down the wrong path for this.

I can see people that are upset about this eventually leaving. Combining this with the way the Living World has been running, people will be scrambling for a seat on a lifeboat while this ship goes down.

This is a quote from one of our former members of GW2 who has since started a different game:

“This is honestly one of the things that began turning me away from GW2 and I had hoped they would steer away from… more and more zergy, free for all type content that bleeds into every aspect of the game. Its fine for some things like Teq but I feel they need to develop some content centered around groups and individual guilds that allow the relationships we have built to grow. Being tossed into a mega mass of people in order to collect or kill 1000 of something (for a cosmetic) takes away from the game, IMO.”

Maybe I am wrong but it seems like this is only appeasing a small group of people that play in servers that are simply just not populated well enough. There isn’t enough information in the blog post to really suggest any major benefits of this for high/full servers. Like I’ve heard from other games, if a population on a server is ridiculously low, that server should ultimately just be merged in with a server that is similar to them in stats or perhaps allow the entire community to one free server change including their guild/banks. It just seems to me that this patch is catering to such a small crowd in which it shouldn’t.

The main issues that I am concerned with are topics such as major events (ie: massive zergs), guild missions, computer problems, as well as ore farming.

1. Zergs. I’ve been reading the Living World discussions quite religiously over the past while and the majority of players just do not want to have as much zergy content anymore. Throw myself in that bunch of people. I would much rather have instanced dungeons where a group of 5 of us can go in to do. I don’t want to sound arrogant but I simply don’t like the aspect of relying on “clowns” in a zerg. This megaserver idea just opens the window wider to allow for much more zergy content which is what people (seemingly) do not want.

2. Guild missions. I guess this will be covered in the next blog posts. As stated above, I can see guild missions becoming a zerg fest of numerous other guilds trying to do a puzzle or challenge of some sort.

3. Computer issues regarding lag. With the megaserver opening the window wider for more zergy content (or at least it seems to be like that), people with mediocre/average computers will suffer from intense amounts of lag. A real life friend of mine was unable to experience the LA content as he was receiving one frame per second during the Watchknight fight. If everything becomes zergy, well I guess I will be saying bye to a personal friend of mine from this game.

4. Lastly, ore faming. I find enjoyment out of searching for good node farms/areas and then relay the information onto my guild’s website. A lot of people thank me for finding nice areas to farm the nodes. With a megaserver and there being difference ‘districts’ of the map, will nodes be changing depending on the district you are in? If so, this is problematic. If the nodes remain stationed in the same places throughout all of the districts then there is no problem regarding this issue.

Hope to hear from Anet regarding these issues soon.

Hello again all!

With season two of the Living Story slowly approaching as well as the second season and tournament for WvW, Vanquish is still seeking loyal members to join our ranks. If either of the above do not interest you, Vanquish has many daily events going on. We have implemented a new dungeon schedule on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon, convenient for those that work evening shifts as well as for our Euro players. Additionally, we have other scheduled events throughout the week such as tPvP, map clears, dungeons, Fractals of the Mists, other activities like JP’s/mini-dungeons, and player-created events like scavenger hunts.

Aside from this, full guild missions are held twice a week by our alliance guild (Sunday afternoons – catered towards Euros, and Friday evenings). A ‘speedy’ third “make-up” one is also held that consists of a bounty and rush.

Does Vanquish sound interesting to you? Come register on our forums and fill out the brief app there. (Website found in original post or simply click here.) *Because Vanquish is a multi-gaming community, please include that you are applying for the GW2 division. This will help us officers greatly!

Living Story Suggestions

in Living World

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

Yep, most of the above makes sense. There are ways that they could still have the Marionette and such as a viable fight. As I mentioned, the Dzagonur Bastion mission allowed the player (yourself) to command a few NPCs and position them where you wanted. (IE: an option would appear when you talk to them such as defend the east side, west side, south side, etc.). Something similar to this could be done. You could even have it as a world boss. Some adjustments would be made to create a “Lornar’s Pass (Historical)” so it would not interfere with the current Lornar’s Pass map.

I get that there are ways to catch up in the story by reading about it in these forums, the Wikipedia, or visiting that Atlas. I for one (and I am sure many others would agree), I’d much rather experience the actual content. I want to play the content that in my opinion should be permanent. The analogy I had used before to describe the current mechanics of the LS is that it is very much like reading a book halfway, putting the book aside due to a busy schedule, then picking the book up later 75% finished. You’ve missed 25% of the story; 25% of the story that likely featured some very important details.

Some people might want to argue that “you shouldn’t be rewarded the same items for someone that was there on day one of the patch”… yeah, there will definitely be those types of people. Personally, I don’t even care about the meta-rewards or even the achievement points. I’m just in it for the story. Take away the rewards from me. Take away the achievement points. But do NOT take away the ability to relive and replay the story from me.

Living Story Suggestions

in Living World

Posted by: weskay.9217

weskay.9217

First off, I am very sure that there is a topic highly similar to this hidden deep in these archives so apologies if I am restating things.

When the first appearances of the Living Story came out, I was thrilled. New content, new things to explore and new items at times. I was happy to have new content coming out biweekly as it kept me entertained and excited for the next patch once everything was done for the latest patch. Back then, I was not nearly as busy as I have been in the recent months.

This past summer, I was fortunate enough to spend a few months in Europe with family that I rarely get to see. It was a blast to say the least. While I was there, an active internet connection was hard to come by since half of my family there does not have a subscription to it. I was never able to experience this Dragon Bash, nor these Sky Pirates, and definitely not Queen Jennah’s Jubilee as well as other events that happened in those months. Now they are history to us players and ever since then, I have been completely lost in the storyline. I have no idea how most of today’s content came to be and this is why I now believe a biweekly (temporary) update should be rethought.

Many people that play this game have full-time jobs, go to school, have games and practices for sports, have children to look after, the list can go on. There is so little time between new Living Story content that people will often get left behind and miss a patch or two. This issue also applies to new players coming into the game. New players won’t have a clue as to what is going on and they, along with the players with jobs, school etc, won’t be able to go back and do it. They won’t be able to pick up the back piece skin that was awarded to them for “X” patch. They won’t be in the loop as to where the Living Story is taking them. I for one am one of these people. I was frustrated after coming home from a (wonderful) trip in Europe and not knowing what the heck is going on. Now I know I might get answers like “just read about it online” but I don’t feel that is a proper solution. I wanted to be able to experience everything that I missed. I have two solutions to the issues that many people and myself might be experiencing.

1. Instead of biweekly patches, come out with one mega content patch (expansion?) so that we can enjoy it at our own pace. I realize that some of the content that we’ve received require tons of people to complete such as the Marionette Watchknight fight and the most recent Battle for Lion’s Arch. Content such as those may make it seem impossible to do. I am no content developer but some of these could be change by adding numerous NPC’s that you and your party members could command. Some of you might recall the Dzagonur Bastion mission in Guild Wars 1 where you could command a group of NPC’s where to defend. I see this battle being very similar to these recent GW2 Living Story content patches and adding NPC’s to an instanced version of the map could be a solid solution.

2. Keep the biweekly patches but allow access to previous Living Story events through a similar process of Guild Wars 1 Bonus Mission Pack. For those of you who do not know what this is, I’ll elaborate further. In a nutshell, in GW1, you could talk to these storyteller NPC’s that would take you back into time to relive past events that happened to some of the major characters within GW’s lore. You could replay these missions at any point in time. In GW2, we would have something very similar like this and your character would then be traveling back in time to relive the events that you have missed. Whether the maps be instanced or not, this is completely up to the developers. I feel like this could be another strong viable solution.

I hope this isn’t too confusing of a read. I just hope that this post will come to the attention of ArenaNet with intentions of letting us completely relive and replay the previous content.

Thanks for reading.

Although we are primarily a NA guild, we house a handful of European players or those that play on a European schedule. If by chance you are a Euro player in TC, we invite you to apply as well and strengthen our Euro numbers!

Keep warm in this loooong and dreary winter (at least it feels long where I am from)!

Hey there Amazing B,

Sounds like you need a good community to play with. GW2 has a lot to offer but yes, most of which you need a decent group to do it with. I was away on a mini-trip so I apologize for the slight delay in reply. Have a look at our website and if you still like what you see, register there and it’ll prompt you to this super simple application. After that, we’ll get you into Vanquish asap

Another Vanquish bump.

We had a few new people join over the past few days. Warm welcomes to them all! As we are gearing towards the approach of LA’s final days, we want to invite you to join in on the experience with us. We also currently have a few Euro based/time players within Vanq and we definitely would love to increase the population in those respectable times.

Recruitment is still open and we would love to have you as we continue to be one of Tarnished Coast’s longest lived guilds! Visit us at the site and apply or seek one of us out in game! We look forward to hearing from you!

Until next time!

Greetings to all from Vanquish! First off, you may notice that the original poster, Oakos is not the one who is updating this thread. He is still very much a major part of Vanquish and will remain this way in the years to come. A new chapter has begun for us at Vanquish as Oakos makes preparations for Vanquish in the upcoming release of another major MMO releasing in Spring.

I want to take the time to announce that Vanquish is once again seeking players that are looking for not only a guild but a community of active, confident and respectful players that share a common goal. That goal is to have a blast in the world of Tyria! The Guild Wars 2 division of Vanquish is not going anywhere and we encourage anyone that wishes to stay with us in the land of Tyria to visit our website and fill out the very brief questionnaire.

All of Vanquish’s important information including our website address is located above in our original post. Should you have any questions about Vanquish or anything in general, you may give me a shout either in here, in game, or on our website.

Happy hunting and precursor dreams to all!

I won’t get into it because I certainly have strong opinions on this but I will simply write this:

Dear Anet,

Please, for the sake of the majority of your player base, remove Scarlett Briar as soon as you can… and for good!

Sincerely,
Upset Customer No. 0001

Yeah I watched the video a couple of times prior to my jump. The only difference was that I was on the little pad just below the large one (the one they are standing on in the video). Not that that posed much of a difference. I just overshot the jump a bit too much and hit a pipe.

I am giving this one a rest for a while but am still happy if anyone can offer me a portal. 7 hours of doing this is way too long!

The above posts are correct however it doesn’t necessarily cost 1800 gems. It will cost that amount if it is a highly populated server. Less populated servers will cost slightly less. I believe the next cheapest is 1200 gems and the cheapest is 800 for a low populated server.

Thanks for the response.

I spent another 3 hours doing it today and did get to the top where the glasses/goggles are but died on the way down. As if the journey up wasn’t enough of a challenge.

In all honesty, I would reconsider your removal of Mesmer. There is so much versatility with them and I believe they are one of the most useful classes for any category (PvE, WvW, PvP) you play.
