I was actually very happy with my full exotic berserker ranger, with 15~20+k damage with LB rapid fire [provided it all crits], until i saw what a warrior with a rifle could do in 1 hit way better in long range, which is supposedly a ranger’s specialty.
Yeah … Sniper build.
The issue with underwater combat is that it shouldn’t exist at all.
Just … no underwater battles pl0x.
I THINK the best idea is
- Removing pet damage as a whole and adding it to the ranger. (??)
I don’t see how most suggestions would help, unless the pet takes the same damage ratio as the player, since they do NOT have any form of damage reduction, they are tanking and attacking like any normal player would be doing, i see it as a flaw that they die in 1 hit, considering the fact that they contribute to the ranger’s total damage pool.
While we have to multi-task, a warrior just needs to press 1,2,3 with his sword to get 40k damage.
Yes i agree with florence. When i hit 80 and got a full range of exotics, i was so glad i was able to hit up to sometimes 15,000-20,000 damage with the longbow rapid fire ability [provided it ALL crits], and when i thought that was alot, boy, warriors proved me SO very wrong.
My pets DO contribute damage i know, but it’s that one or two hits before they die because some champion abomination shiet does 70,000 damage to a pet lynx, or some drake does 10,000 in one breath. I doubt any non-bear pet, can survive that. I mean i can evade, but my pet does not know how to double tap the left or right key. Considering that, i couldn’t be bothered to hit F4 to switch pets, both dies in a whim anyway. I REALLY do not like my pets at all. If your argument is that i can’t control my pets well, i really won’t argue, i can hit F3 if i’d like to make it return, but i don’t see a point to that really.
I love my ranger to bits though, i have a warrior too. But i stuck with my ranger.

was there an abyss from all 403 of them?
I had about 100 of it, and boy, i should’ve just sold them all.
Could someone kindly explain what caused such a huge surge in price?
It is like almost twice of it’s old TP value now.
I think it’s a bug. If that’s the torch dungeon in dredgehaunt, try luring him to the start area with 2 braziers, and kill him there. he’s supposed to run away to the middle and die.
that’s the one in dredgehaunt. The irritating one with the torches.
I realised there were many topics that were like, wtf do i do? where do i go? etc, i myself was totally lost, spending candy corn scanning around the NPC, with a bugged ghost that couldn’t appear. And besides that, i had NO idea what else to do. We logged in happily thinking, yeah man halloween, major event … and ….
And totally had no idea, where else could we go. I kinda hoped that when i logged in, some cool pumpkin head themed NPC would be like “HEY beeyotch, it’s halloween! Lemme just tell you what’s new here now.” Just like the NPC in heart of mists.
The dredgehaunt one is west of Wyrmblood WP. Examining the huge dwarven door to the west will lead you back to Travelen, and talk to this NPC named Drrevig or something. That will trigger an escort mission into the door.
Just a heads up, this area is a pain in the rear especially the jumping part. Note that the boss at the end can only be hurt under the light, easiest way is to lure him to the entrance where the two torch braziers are. EZ mode, compared to randomly running around and throwing torches.
If it’s transmutable, it is totally worth it. Unless well you spend all day in LA.
Yes, a mini event notification with tons of kitten coming out of the door sounds better than, oh i don’t know, 2 skeletons with no drops.
Yes, i would’ve dropped 700 gems on it if it were to be transmutable. Just like most MMOs, these seasonal costume releases (christmas, halloween, etc) should be transmutable.
Disappointing.
They probably thought players would love to explore every single map in Tyria for the “Haunted doors”. OR any other events related to Halloween. Well …
Durmandwhat? indeed.
I picked asura, but the aesthetic drawback is that their weapons are so small, it’s not that awesome when a human’s longbow is exactly the size of an asura. or even bigger.
but other than that , i love my asura. Never regretted the choice.
You would want to get more power than precision later on in the game though.
I use it basically for AoE support. i DO bring along an axe/warhorn too though.
Just gotta love barrage. Wished that the longbow could have a shorter firing time though. I agree that it is way underpowered now, but still, gotta love barrage.
gotta love it when mesmers start crying when spatial surge and moa doesn’t kill.
sigh, i’m still stuck.
I’m currrently running a trap based crit/power ranger, 2 traps + QZ. With RaO as my elite.
My crit damage stands at 90%, chance at 45%, power at somewhere in the 2000 range. I decided not to rune anything with precision anymore, because 45% is seriously enough i think, as i get 7 out of 10 crits, unless someone has a stronger viewpoint. So i was thinking more of stacking +10 power on kill.
I’m running semi valkyrie + semi berserker, my weapons are a pearl stinger berserker LB, and pearl stinger Rampager SB. I’ve read that condition stacking is not feasible against huge bosses, so i’m leaning towards changing my SB to a berserker too. I do not find pets useful, well not in dungeons or WvWvW at least, unless it’s a bear.
Now what runes or sigils would you recommend?
Thanks.

i’ve tried condition damage in WvWvW, it’s just not as feasible, i don’t really know how + condition damage scales, but i think i’m trying pure damage as i might move to a different build, like a pet based or something else.
I’m running this power/crit build now, with LB/SB combo, now i have a full set of armor and weapons, but i TOTALLY have no idea what to rune/sigil it with. And i am a full trap-based ranger, if that is important. I always neglect my pet, since they die first thing in HoTW or Arah. Well unless it’s two bears, which i don’t really like.
I have 2200 power, and 45% crit chance, 80% crit damage. i personally think that 45% crit chance is good enough, i get 7/10 crits, hence i’m thinking of striking out any major precision-based runes (eagle, ranger, etc). I was thinking of the +10 power for my bow, since i am not looking into precision at all.
Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
