So is noone leveling or am I the only one who feels this way? Really?!?!
Are there any plans to change the respawn rate now that there are far fewer players at low levels. I have quit dozens of low level DEs due to mobs respawning on top of me only a minute after I recently killed them.
It’s a very poor leveling experience…
So I thought pvp in this game was supposed to be skill based? What a joke!

I was surviving longer as a sub level 70 in WvW than I am now as an 80. (I think it is mostly with me now being too kitteny, but you get the point).
Low levels are fine in WvW, you don’t need full exotics to run supply, fix walls, scout, etc etc etc.
While I will do the rest of those things when needed, I want to be competitive in a fight. I also, go figure, want a fair fight against the other guy. You don’t think fairness is important? Why don’t we just always have the other team win? Whatever server they are, they get an auto-win button? It’s a stupid example, but so is your suggestion.
I want a competitive game that’s fun and fair.
You got the fun part down in pve. The balance and fairness (skill-based play) in this game are all out of wack though. I’m almost ready to just take a break and not come back until anet irons out these issues.
I’m so sick of being rolled in wvwvw just because I have sub 80 gear. I’m so sick of being rolled in any pvp by broken combos, broken professions. I’m sick of playing an alt and having to level again because they want to gather data rather than fix an obviously broken profession (ele).
I’m just getting fed up.

They shouldn’t allow any sub 80 players into wvwvw. Any sub 80 is complete cannon fodder 1v1. Others just hit harder, not because of skill, but because of gear.
How is this any different than pvp in Wow?
If my cc removal is on cd, then a warrior can 3 shot me? Nice balance anet. How can anyone take this seriously? What a joke.
In before fanboys: this game is perfect, lolwut balance?
And you wonder why the mmo crowd’s appetite is never sated. Here is the craziness folks, for all to see.
This spell needs a longer range. Until then, I will never use it.
Summoning an Elemental doesn’t feel very elite, the fiery greatsword requires putting myself in Melee range which is exactly where I don’t want to be, and in PvE the Tornado seems to do really poor damage and, again, puts you in melee range. The latter two also prevent you from using all of your primary abilities, which is obviously a huge disadvantage.
Right now I’m pretty much stuck using the Hounds of Balthazar because at least they draw aggro away from me while I cast spells.
This class is really broken right now, but you are sooooo using the fiery sword wrong. It does TONS of damage. Try using 3 to cripple groups of mobs and then kite them while spamming 1 and hitting them all as a group. It’s one of the best (if not the best) skills that the ele has.
Yeah, I’ve been using the cc breaker for ele (can’t remember the name), the earth stability, plant towers for immune and arcane shield. I think I’m plenty defensive. It’s a bad design, not a l2play issue here.
I hate it.
Orr is driving me nuts. Push, pull, stun, root, slow, daze, fear, confusion… It gets old. Too many mobs placed side by side, all of them spamming this crap at you.
I ran into a tar elemental that spams a 1 second root over and over and over and over every 1 second. I just keep thinking that they didn’t know what they were doing with this zone. It’s just not fun, but the story led me here.
Bots? Who cares…really?
Huh? You want an inflated economy? You want an economy you can’t compete in?
What is the cap? I’ve never heard of this
I was farming events and like I said, the rewards scaled lower and lower till I was getting 19 karma from level 80 events in Orr.
Whatever events you were running were not supposed to be farmed at lightning speed. I run from event to event as quick as I know how and this never happens. You’re probably farming that same event that was posted on the forums a couple days ago.
Well, after 6 levels, I’m definitely not coming back to this class until they fix it.
Oh and Avorniel, if I can get to 80 attunement-dancing and blasting my way through orr with a lame class, then I’m sure I can figure out the more advanced aspects of the warrior.
For obvious reasons. I love the flashy-ness of this profession. But my damage is sooooo underwhelming.
See you guys on the other side.
I find that GW2 is best played by doing whatever you feel like doing.

This. So much this. Play for fun, forget the drive to maximize. There is a world out there to explore and enjoy. And lots of players to enjoy it with!
I know the devs are swamped with the popularity of this game. But they need to get a grip on these gold sellers.
My chat while in lion’s arch is completely overrun with gold sellers. Everytime I click and report/block them (this should really be one step, instead it takes two), they are replaced by another seller.
It really pulls you out of the world/fun.
Why are they using waypoints so extensively? If they are just starting, they should be out exploring, not reusing the same waypoints to no end.
Maybe have them give you money to help them?
If it’s fine and affordable to warp around at the appropriate level, then it should be fine for a down-scaled player.
Think about it. The feature is there to encourage co-op, but is instead discouraging co-op.
To all those saying just keep playing and stop letting it bother you, knock it off. Botters, exploiters and gold sellers all ruin the verisimilitude in these games. That seems to be the most popular feature of this game, so I think the op has a point.
Oh, and aren’t dungeons completely optional? I’m up to 50th level in my story and I’ve only completed the 30th level dungeon, so I’m guessing that the story is MY story and the dungeons are Destiny’s Edge story and if I choose to ignore dungeons I can do so and still “finish” the game. I think this actually is the optional, hard, content.
It’s not presented as optional. They are making efforts to include this content in the primary story.
when what is probably ~90% of your player base is avoiding it?
Made up numbers are made up. I see people making groups and clearing AC all day er’day.
In order for content to be considered sufficiently challenging, there MUST be a portion of the population who is unable to complete it. If 100% of the player base can down a dungeon, then it’s obviously too easy.
The people who can’t figure out how to clear any of the dungeons in GW2 need to pay attention to the players who can, and then improve their gameplay.
Don’t nerf the dungeons. Force players to buff themselves.
You think your small sample is indicative of this massive playerbase. I’ll speak from the perspective of every friend of mine and each of their friends, most of who are not running guild runs.
Also, if you don’t believe my numbers, I would suggest you look at Wow’s sub numbers during their last Cataclsym expansion. And then look at Blizzard’s reaction. You are misinformed, not me.
God forbid we have some decently difficult dungeons in this game , OP. Story modes aren’t all that hard, though some can be a pain.
Why can’t they keep the “decently difficult” content in explorable mode? Go figure…
Kryil said it best, dungeons are fine, some could be even harder….

Dungeons start being ok as soon as guys STOP thinking their 20 year experience does help you at all in GW2.
This system requires a good teamwork, tactics and stuff.
Something that most MMOs are heavily lacking due to heaving one part removed by the tank/heal/dd groups.
Teamwork won’t help against cheap mechanics. Most people who play dungeons aren’t robots, like the vocal few on these forums.
You introduce them to us through the mail system. You introduce the story of the destiny’s edge group into our personal story.
Then you design the dungeon with cheap mechanics and a hair-pulling difficulty, and then afterwards you take our hard-to-hold-onto gold from us in repair costs. Most of your player base (the casual base) is not running your dungeons. Even though they want to see the story, they have rejected your content.
Why did you add this content, in this fashion, when what is probably ~90% of your player base is avoiding it?
Hard=intelligent enemies and cool tactics -> good
Hard=Lots of hp and damge -> badEasy+unrewarding -> bad
Easy+rewarding -> bad
Hard+unrewarding -> bad
Hard+rewarding -> goodgw2 instances aren’t in the good bracket of any of this 2 lists
Are you kidding me? Are you saying that you didn’t enjoy shooting Zhaitan from a zeppelin?
Spoilers you brainless, foaming at the mouth idiot… What a tool.
if you guys actally played an ele you wold know what i am talking about and agree 100% with me
I do agree. Anyone who is arguing simply hasn’t tried the class.
I’m happy to hear that dedicated and experienced players who have a trained and regular group are finding some challenge and fun in the dungeons.
BUT :
You all must remember that GW2 is supposed to be for every kind of players, not only very good raid specialists. Meaning that everykind of people should be able to get some fun in game.
While the challenging dungeons are great for some, i think that the other ones, the casual players, which represent in fact the major part of the population of a popular game such as GW2, should have access to some adapted content too.
Yes maybe we are dumb, slow, losers or whatever you think, but we are customers as much as you.
So concretly, keep the dungeons as they are for the ones who like it and can dedicate so much time and skill to it, but add an easier mode for casual players, with shorter sessions adapted to family life, with of course less reward etc…
WHY NOT GIVING SOME CONTENT TO EVERY KIND OF PLAYERS ? After all the dungeons are already here, it shouldn’t be that hard to add some easier modes, and yes some harder modes too if there are enough people enjoying it.This is the kind of thinking that is practiced with kids playing sports in this day. You came out and participated and WHAM!!! we have a trophy for you at the end of the season for you!!!
Hogwash! As a child when i played sports if you didn’t play on a winning team. NO TROPHY FOR YOU! I played on some teams that were winners, and i played on some teams where we lost. Having done this i learned to win, and to lose.
What you must remember is you are entitled to absolutely jack nothing in this life. I for one am tired of hearing people that describe themselves as casual( mainly touted to be the MAJORITY…… so what, i say.) moaning about how it is unfair that they are unable to complete some form of challenge in a MMO game. In this game it is the dungeons, they are hard. And they very well should be.
It is this state of mind that has lead to the nerfing, and just plain dumbing down of the majority of all games of this kind that i have played. I’ve run into content in MMO’s i was not able to complete, that vary in reasons, and i either decided to fix whatever it was making me unable to complete the challenge or i moved on deciding it was not something i could get done.
Achieving goals that are out of reach for some, or most, is a MOTIVATOR for some people, such as myself. As my opinion is worth as much as yours (and be aware i am aware my opinion means nothing to 99.99% of everyone else out there) i say no, you cant have a free pass because your special, and need lovin because you find no enjoyment in running the dungeons in GW2.
I like the fact that this part of the content of this game is tough. My family life allows me to play these dungeons and complete them. I own a business, have 2 sons, 1 irrational female partner and a whole passel of house plants that want my attention every day, day in and day out.
So again, i for one think, if you want to do the dungeons, try harder, assemble a group that is willing to try harder with you and do what it takes to get it done.
Hopefully folks spending their time on these forums detailing how it is not fair there is no easy mode for you to play goes in one dev ear and out the other. As many in this thread have said, the lewts are dookie at any rate, and are not the motivation to get in there and get it done in the first place. Its called a challenge!!! Try challenging yourself, you might dig it.
Also, what i am saying here is not addressed to you personally, rather it is addressed to the frame of mind that wants this type of content( your post is just a very good example). Be assured they will give it to you at one point or another, because if you are the type that will vote with your wallet you can guarantee this company wants your cash and will remedy your woes!
The whole fact that this game just rolled out and already people want EASIER CONTENT PLEASE!!!!! compels me to come here and say to the Dev’s i think it should not be so. At the least not right off.
You really are narrow minded you know that. Most people DON’T play games like these for a CHALLENGE. They play for the EXPERIENCE.
I probably need to repeat this for you because trolls like you keep regurgitating this crap from here to the Wow forums. “Most people DON’T play games like these for a CHALLENGE. They play for the EXPERIENCE.”
There did it sink in now?
i’m scratching my head wondering how people some people say the dungeons are impossible and others have the first 2 dungeons on farm.
they’ve (anet) said that dungeons were intended to be high-end pve content that wasn’t for everyone. some people may need more practice or may never be good enough (myself included).
How stupid is it to spend so much time building content for a small portion of your playerbase?
Maybe I’m just an idiot, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fire the catapult. It keeps saying that I can’t fire in that direction and I’ve tried pointing it in every direction that is possible. Some guidance would be appreciated.
Hold down 2
I know a lot of us might already be aware, but I figured I would make a post about it because actually doing this for the journey alone is amazing. Such an awesome feature that the devs added little puzzles and mysteries like this into the game. It really shows their determination to make this game unlike most MMOs. Not only do you have a HUGE world, map completions, quest lines, pvp, etc, but there are also several little surprises like this one yielding loot chests!
So what you want to do is go to Lion’s Arch, and in the south east corner of the map there is a vista in the mountains. What you do is head south east and find the small house there. Go around to the right side of it and you will see bails of hay. Jump over the railing and climb the hay until you are on the roof. Jump down, but don’t be fooled by the misleading hay stacks to your left – head right, and find a hidden hole in the wall!
One you’re through, head left and go up the grassy hill hugging the left side so you don’t slip, and find another hidden hole in the wall at the top of the hill. (Just walk into the wall, and strafe left until you see an opening) Once through, you can climb the rocks to get to the vista. But the REAL treasure, is what’s behind the vista!!
A hidden pirate’s treasure cave! I won’t spoil too much from here because the thrill of actually figuring it out is awesome as well, but long story short, you will venture through a series of jumps, darkness, treachery, and illusionary walls on your way to recover the pirate’s booty! After you finish the area, you are rewarded with a small loot chest that SCAILS with your level (they all do) and is reset I believe every 24 hours or so. So you can get it, gain a few levels, come back, take it again, and the loot will be better because you are a higher level!
There are no enemies in this whole area, so relax and focus as you get through the challenges ahead!! Enjoy
There are tons of these in the game Enjoy: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jumping_puzzle
I completely agree. What game out there has pvp repair costs? You die soooooo much in pvp. This will discourage others from participating.
Waiting for my game to patch i am so excited i cant contain it haha!!! still trying to decide which class to go with… im thinking warrior but i feel like that might be too normal, i mean every game has a warrior :P
Glad to hear you’re looking forward to it. You’re gonna love it!
I have several toons with the highest in the mid 40’s. For each toon I selected different crafting skills. Initially crafting seemed useful as the vendor items are grossly overpriced and the random nature of usable item drops.
Since the AH is functional crafting is useless IMO. You can buy masterwork armor/weapons at a fraction of what it would cost you in mats. Many mats require an item sold only by a vendor like 10 x jute thread sold for 80cp.
That’s a problem when masterwork weapons and armor can be bought for that amount (depending on level) on the AH.
The vendor mat items need to be reduced in price unless the intent is to make crafting a money sink with no payoff except for xp.
How can those people sell at such losses? They are probably botting/exploiting…
Hiya Lockey.
Elementalists are best suited to long-range attack and support spells during boss fights. The reason you’re dying in 1-2 hits is because you’re probably not casting from maximum range. Also, it sounds like your not managing your attunements all that well (no insult intended.) An elementalist has a vast skill pool upon which they can call as and when they feel like, however it needs to be properly managed via attunement switching.
Some advice for boss fights: utilise the heavy AoE abilities of a Fire-attuned Staff Elementalist whilst switching to Water Attunement for those nice AoE healing spells. That should a.) allow you to contribute significantly based on damage and b.) provide excellent support to your allies and keep them in the fight for longer.
I hope this helped. Good luck out there.
None of your points will make the OP deal more damage. The numbers are imbalanced. Have you seen how hard warriors hit?
GW2 have taken away the meaning of the holy trinity. This is something great as they move out of the paradigm of a conventional MMO.
This also means that everyone should build their character in a way so as to not be a bloody glass canon. Everyone must be responsible on how to self heal, dish out dps, tank and CC.
You must forget about that healer in the pocket as you yourself have to heal yourself. Its kind of you have to learn how to be the holy trinity. Always remember, there are no agro management in GW2, just CC and group synergy is the key.
Heres a few pointers for instance crawling:
1) Learn to roll and dodge
2) Learn the animation of bosses and mobs
3) Learn all your utilities
4) Learn to SWAP weapons
5) DON’T EVER KEYBOARD TURNCheers and happy dungeon crawling.
Did you read the OPs post? He is using defense skills and dodging, ccing. There is a problem with the AI going tunnel vision on you and ranged mobs are murder.
hahahaha even letting 7 year old kids in to MMO’s like GW2 wow etc…

They really need driver support and optimizations. My machine is a beast and I get low framerates, even away from WvW.
Hi guys,
I tried out some WvW tonight and had some fun. Until I got the repair bill in the mail. 10 silver for about 5 deaths.
I gotta tell you, this must be why each side avoids direct confrontation like a bunch of crazy people. It feels like there is a void zone between the two sides when fighting. Anything that passes in the middle is insta-gibbed.
I won’t be doing anymore of this until they lower these costs. Can someone name another successful MMO (based on sub numbers) that has repair bills for pvp? You always die in pvp?!?!
