Leather worker buys the 6 yassith ascended recipes for leather armor. He reads them. And only learns half of them. Leather worker is at rank 500.
Tried to upload mp4 showing it, but am not allowed to upload it to the forums … of course.
Checked all toons + bank. And the recipies are in the bank. As if the ‘game’ wasnt saved?
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
so … they patched the game several times since I couldn’t attune my rings … and I still cant attune them.
I guess, it must be a very hard bug to fix, because I know anet is very professional.
How can you create different identifiers for the same item? How can you NOT fix that bug in minutes?
Exactly the same here. None of my infused rings show up in the MF inventory. Is this going to be fixed or not?
I am a bit disappointed, it seems that the most simple things don’t work. So the rings some of us have, are not ‘real’ rings?
When activating a healing skill, the utility skill Mantra of Resolve goes on cool down.
Example:
I could add more text, specifying the requirements, but I didn’t, because it’s pretty obvious what I mean, to the people I want to address. That’s why I haven’t mentioned gearcheck, runes, traits, sigils, food, etc.
I just want to be able to use an acronym, because the lfg text we are allowed to enter, doesn’t allow us to describe the above (too few characters allowed).
I expect people will start discussing (troll) the thread, by saying ’that’s not a good party combo’, ‘The people join the lfg anyway without reading the text’, ‘They can just ping some gear and use something else’, ‘Join a dungeon guild’, etc and so on. But that’s irrelevant wrt finding an acronym imo.
At the moment, people use the word META, which imo means what I wrote in the first post. But because of the different opinions about what META means, I would like us (= the people that want a semi record run via lfg) to use a more unambiguous acronym.
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
I would like, if the community could agree on an acronym, we can use in lfg, that means the following:
1) All must have berserk’er gear
2) Party composition must be 2 elementalists, 1 guardian, 1 thief and 1 ps war (sometimes, depending on the dungeon, the guardian can be replaced by a mesmer).
3) Dungeon tactics must be semi record runs, so it’s ok to kill champs/bosses that would normally be skipped on record runs and to get chests that would also normally be skipped, and it’s ok not to use portal, if the guard is replaced by a mesmer..
4) People MUST know aggro mechanics, fx for pathing mobs in stealth, and the like.
5) Anyone that turns out not to respect/fullfill any of the above will be kicked.
So, what should we agree on? I suggest MOBO for no particular reason. So the lfg would for example look like this:
fullrun, MOBO
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
I logged on today approx 8 AM. I logged out many hours before reset yesterday. I notice that one of the dailies is the daily maguuma miner. I select a toon that is already there. I start to mine the first ore, and get the daily achievement after mining only one ore, with the first hit of the mining pick.
I asked several people to test if the same thing happened to them, it didn’t.
Is this a bug or is someone else using my account?
From groups I joined via LFG labed like ‘meta, zerk, exp, gearcheck’:
From CM:
Me: Thief, aren’t you gonna clear the cellar?
Thief: I am a pvp player
From TA:
We stealth before the first wolves to run to the worms. The elementalist attacks when we reach the wolves causing people to get knocked down. He does similar stuff repeatedly. On the second path, he does it again.
From SE:
Everybody ignores the stealth.
Etc etc etc.
I just wish you (and all other pugs) would join a real life ‘lfg climbing mount everest, elties only’.
“Stand in the corner and spam 1 until the boss is dead. Usually 5-10 seconds”
Oh so riveting. So fun. So exiting. yawn Not. I just don’t understand this mentality.
Oh sure, I can see how getting through super fast the first couple of times through might be fun and exciting. But after that to do it every time… it just become repetitive work. Stack here, set auto attack going, wait. Run here. Stack there, start auto attack, dodge, attack some more, wait. No wonder you people watch tv to keep yourselves entertained when you’re on the game. You may as well be botting, cause you sure as hell aren’t playing.
Let’s repeat your post with some words changed
“Run around and spam all your skills, make the mobs follow you so they don’t stay in any of the paty’s AOE, especially cc like fear to make the boss run out of AOE/100b and the like. You fight will last a long time”
Oh so riveting. So fun. So exiting. yawn Not. I just don’t understand this mentality.
Oh sure, I can see how getting through super slow the first couple of times through might be fun and exciting. But after that to do it every time… it just become repetitive work. Run around like insane rabbits, spam ALL your skills, wait. Run here. Spread out so the combat takes longer, long enough to spam all your skills, dont dodge, dont attack some more, wait. No wonder you people watch tv to keep yourselves entertained when you’re on the game. You may as well be botting, cause you sure as hell aren’t playing.

Please-Read-How-To-Bugging-Best-Practices/first#post19988
I already submitted each of these bugs – one at a time to anet. Some of them I submitted, one at a time, many times over the last 2 years. Listing them together kind of conveys the quality of the experience of doing a single dungeon run, which wouldn’t come accross if I submitted them individually.
And let’s not kid ourselves – anet doesn’t care, and they will not fix any of these bugs in the next 2 years.
Also, when out of combat it looks like you are in combat AND you can’t change skills (neither normaly NOR in the hero window).
gw2 bugs.
The in-game bug report edit widget for repporting a bug is bugged. I have
reported this a 100 times over the past 2 years. It is still bugged. The
edit widget does not keep the character-input-cursor in view, so you can’t
see what you are typing when u type posts longer than the edit window.
This doesn’t happen consistently.
The in-game Frames per Sec can drop, and keep dropping, to 10 fps or less,
even when running on a very high end system – the system has plenty of
juice left to use while this is happening (37% cpu usage, 38% memory, 0-2%
disk i/o, and plenty of bandwidth (less than 10% used)). The system I use
can get almost 200 fps – when GW2 “works”.
You still get stuck an many, many places.
Gw2 has problems recognizing key-strokes. So when you press a skill, it
often doesn’t register.
You can die walking down a normal set of stairs because the falling damage
system is bugged.
While typing chat, the game can popup dialogues that remove focus from the
chat you are typing, causing all sorts of stuff to happen, because your
keystrokes are suddenly interpreted as normal game key strokes (the trading
post pops up if you press ‘o’, the inventory pops up if you press ‘i’, etc).
GW2 has a host of problems with the user interface because they can’t present
messages and the like in a uniform manner. I am not referring to cut scenes
here.
Cut scenes can interrupt whatever you or your character is doing, while they
don’t cause the hostile npc’s to pause. If you press a skill just before
the cut scene (fx rush or the like) you will not get the benefit of the skill
(you will be stuck on the same spot) AND the skill will be on cooldown when
the cut scene ends.
The user interface keeps zooming in while you are playing, even though the
user of the gw2 client does not zoom in (I am not talking about the zoom that
occurs if there is a wall or obstacle behind you).
If there is an obstacle behind you the user interface ALWAYS zooms in, often
making it impossible to see what is happening on your screen. This is not
considered a bug by anet :) It is part of their game design, and is VERY bad
user interface design.
This is just A FEW of the bugs that are still present – 2 years after the
game was released / out of beta. In my point of view the game is still in beta.
The culture of companies that care so little about the user experience / the
amount of bugs in their software, is sick.
I can confirm. Dobbs is stuck, just keeps standing in the same spot forever.
Same. He is just standing still. And there are no enemies near by that can be pulled to him, to try to un-bug him.
This is the 2nd event (non-heart) of the ‘treasure hunter’ achievement. And both are bugged! Amazing. It’s as if the people that develop this really dont care if it works.
Hmm. I logged in again and dbl-clicked the items again, and this time it created the back piece. I dunno why it didn’t get created before.
So ignore this thread.
I followed the guide on dulfy. But as I wrote above:
> I assume you only need 21 of each food. So it seems 7 pieces of piq food
> vanished during my mystic forge/clicking the items to create Mawdrey.
>
> Am I wrong? Can anyone help with this?
And:
> Rhand Blessed Plant Food was one of the first items I crafted.
And:
> If this is a bug, will I get the items restored?
I haven’t created any food item (from 7 pieces of food) twice (yet).
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
EDIT: Ignore this thread. Problem solved.
I wanted to make the ascended back piece from the living story. So I crafted 21 of each type of food (meat and piq).
I got all the items I needed into my characters inventory and started mystic forging and clicking the items in the inventory. I think Rhand Blessed Plant Food was one of the first items I crafted.
I now have this left, and no ascended back peiece:
[Cultivated Vine]
[Mysterious Vine]
[Pet Plantling]
[Destroyer Heated Stone]
+ stuff I collected from mini dungeons/locations in pve (I dont list these, as I collected several of each of these, just in case)
I assume you only need 21 of each food. So it seems 7 pieces of piq food vanished during my mystic forge/clicking the items to create Mawdrey.
Am I wrong? Can anyone help with this?
If this is a bug, will I get the items restored? Or will I have to pay more than the other players for creating the back piece.
I may remember wrong wrt to the details (above), but I did spend approx 3 weeks getting the 21 of each type of food (42 total). And they are all gone, and I have no ascended backpiece.
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
A lot of people want this. The ones I’ve talked to say ‘anet will never do it’.
The great thing in gw1 was all the interesting bosses in pve that you could login, goto, and experiment with IMMEDIATELY; not having to solo through X other mobs before you got to them.
Also, almost all the interesting bosses in pve that are not in dungeons in gw2 are ‘time gated’. This means you can’t goto them and start playing, like you could in gw1. You have to wait, wait, wait, wait … !
Now the game is two years old. And every time I run a dungeon I have to watch cut scenes (that I didn’t want to watch the first time I did it) or skip them if that is possible.
The cut scenes still cancels my character’s movement skills and freezes him in place (while the mobs keep running and catches up). And when the cut scene ends, my movement skill that didn’t get utilized is now on cool down.
We still don’t have an option to disable cut scenes / automatically skip or cancel.
What are your opinions on this?
If I had my way, I would disable ALL cut scenes. Some people say the latest content in the LS has become more interesting, but anet lost me 2 years ago, when I watched my first 4-7 cut scenes. It was simply mind bogglingly boring.
Some interesting ideas. I just don’t see how this makes people respect the lfg text. Math aside, let’s take an example. After writing the OP I created an lfg for AC that looked like this:
allpaths, >10k AP, speedzerk, experienced, gearcheck
I waited half a minute, and 3 people joined at the same time. I checked my lfg, and it was now:
allpaths 80
The 3 other guys in the party had 3xx, 5xx and 2xxx achivement points. 2 of them were level 4×. Now the last guy joins, he is level 5×. I stay outside the dungeon and just stay quiet. The chat fills up with ‘we are inside’, ‘come inside’, ‘come inside or we will kick’, etc
What can we do about this? Will Anet help those of us that wants to create parties of like minded people? Can we report? May we report? Will anet take action if we report?
If we can’t or mustn’t report or if Anet doesn’t care about the reporting; maybe an idea could be to list the total number of times a path or dungeon have been been completed on the account AND let you filter on it (prevent joins) with people that doesn’t meet the requisite.
Remember, this is not about how to form your own group with your friends and guildies. This is about finding people to play with via lfg.
Back when lfg was run by a third party on a website that was only known by mostly serious players, the groups I got was much better than the in-game lfg. Ah well.
Can we report people that joins an LFG and ignores the lfg description? Fx report them for scamming. And if we do, will Anet do anything about it?
Can we report people that create an LFG and obviously cant/wont do what they themselves advertised?
Often you have to kick/recreate lfg so many times, that you get ‘excessive chat messaging’, which punishes you and not the people abusing the LFG – which is kinda ironic.
- Enemies hit harder (making skipping difficult/impossible)
Or mandatory.
- I hate that stacking kills the designed dungeon mechanics
The game is designed so that melee gives more dam than range AND boons/condition removals have limited aoe AND rush skills are optimal if mob is in a corner AND it’s faster to revive someone that is at the same spot as yourself AND mobs try to get line of sight so they ball and we can cleave more mobs if they stack too.
So I would argue that the game mechanics is designed for stacking.
I think my warrior SURELY wins the contest. How can he not?
Posted this in another thread (hope it’s ok to post it here again).
People that need to photoshop etc are wimps

We had some fun with our 300+ transmutation stones. Here is my most hilarrious look on my human male warrior.
Ty for the link to gw2dungeons.net. Is it a trustworthy site?
… if you want to see them in action, you can find videos of every path on youtube … and you can find …
Yep, I can find it if I expriment, search, watch a lot of youtube (as I wrote). But not as one thread on forum-en.guildwars2.com.
We have a thread with optimal slaying potion/sigil setups here somewhere, let me see if I can find it.
I know. Target made it – a nice dude and he knows the bosses well. One of the reason I want the information collected in one thread in this forum, is so you can refer new players here. And hopefully learn a thing a two yourself.
I’ve run 2 staves, a bifrost skin, and a monsoon skin. I weapon swap from staff…. To staff!
I’ve always been sad that my warrior can’t use a staff. Nor a torch.
Subject: Dungeon boss emotes / Dungeon boss mechanics / Dungeon fight mechanics / Dungeon encounters strategy.
Is there a dungeon thread about boss emotes / mechanics? A youtube user that has uploaded a video for each boss / encounter? A forum thread that contains this? Or something like that anywhere? It would be nice to have – all collected in one place (including fractal and maybe world bosses/champs).
I am not asking about the best/worst way to kill a boss. And I hope this thread doesn’t turn into that kind of thing. I am asking about ‘How does the boss work? What are the tells?’. Fx it would be nice to have information about, for each dungeon boss/encounter:
1) What skills/attacks does the boss/mobs use?
2) How can you see when a boss is going to make a certain attack?
3) How often does the boss/mobs attack/use a skill?
4) How do you avoid damage from particular attack/boss/group of mobs?
5) What are the best counters (relfect/dodge/block/etc)
6) What is the best potion/food while fighting the boss/mobs?
I’ve checked the gw2 wiki, and the info about his is very sporadic, and when it appears it is not up to date or faulty. I have googled, but I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for. I agree that if you are patient and do a lot of runs, watch a lot of youtube, etc and so on, that you can collect this information. But it would be nice to have it all in one place. Fx this thread.
If this thread already exists, then I apologize; and in that case please give me the link
Before the patch I participated in the Melandru World event on my full berserker warrior. He participated in melee’ing the spider champ twice, and got no reward for killing it, and he got no reward when the world event completed on the map (no daily chest, no normal chest). The warrior was not parked near the melandu event and hadn’t done the event that day.
After the patch I participated in Grenth on my full berserker mesmer (kill wizard + protect jonez). The mesmer got the reward for killing the wizard. While protecting jonez, the mesmer did as much damage as he could to mobs. When the event completed, the mesmer recieved no daily chest and no normal chest. The character was not parked near the grenth event and hadnt completed the grenth event for months.
I try to create lfg, fx ‘story, level 80 only’.
I keep getting:
1) Joined by players that are not level 80.
2) Merged with parties that are not level 80.
3) Joined/merged with parties that don’t wanna do story
Can you please:
a) make it possible to disallow lower levels to join
b) make it possible to deny merge parties
c) ban the players that do this
AND
d) Make my lfg stay on the lfg, so I dont have to keep creating it, because it gets trolled by other players.
I am getting accustomed to anet not fixing bugs. I dunno why I bother reporting any. Feels useless.
Why make a game mechanic, that makes team work result in less efficiency?
I am tired of the people that wants to ruin your dungeon run by aggroing/killing every mob, not reading chat, not being able to read english on a european server, ignoring lfg description, leeching in dungoens on their low level toon, not stacking, etc etc.
Their mantra is ‘I want to be as ineffective as I can, I don’t want to teamplay in teams, I want deny that I ruin aggro management if told what to do, etc’.
I think you misunderstood my post. The post was directed at anet, not the user base., Anet can clearly make this, what I meant was, will anet make it.
Assume we attack a stationary enemy.
1) The illusionary warden appears but does nothing. It just stands there.
2) The illusionary warden appears then runs away from the foe, the runs back to the foe (the foe dies now before the warden can execute it’s attack, because it spend all it’s time running back and forth).
3) The illusionary warden doesn’t appear (skill is on full cooldown).
…!

Just tried story again, with a totaly new party, and the ship bugged again.
We all got teleported to the first ship after a cut scene. The ship is stuck, it doesn’t move.
I reported this with the in-game /bug command.
’It’s so great, I had so much fun, even though this bug is here, it is still so fun, and I really think it’s good work. I look forward to finding more bugs and I am so excited to do it again. It’s so nice that I have to do the story mode on each toon. The cut scenes, they are great. The story … it just leaves me breathless, its so exciting. I can’t wait for you to fix the bug, so I can complete arah story on yet another toon. It’s so nice.’
According to an earlier post in the forums (by an anet employee), you have to write stuff like this, otherwise anet ignores the bug report.

When we do wvw and we use a public teamspeak (or the like) to do wvw, we have no method of determining if a player should be allowed on the teamspeak; is he a spy or is he from our server?
Is it possible to make an api that supports:
string get_home_server(string player_id)
Argument player_id: the id or the name of a player.
Returns: The name of the home server of the specified player.
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
If the files are only generated when they need to updated, the timestamps on the files can be used to determine when you need to re-download them.
Features for timestamps (diffs/changes to the gw2api db) were discussed in another thread, but it seemed to involve too much work from anet to support said timestamps/diffs.
Are the plans for making it possible to download the complete gw2 database?
Arenanet could make the data available in compressed files that can be downloaded via fx ftp or a torrent. The data could be made available in single file or in multiple files.
This would make it faster to downalod a full dataset and lessen the load on the gw2 api servers.
This means when I parse the data with JQuery, the initial map data is overwritten by the doubled map data, which is often incomplete
When you have duplicate entries (assuming the map identifier is supposed to be unique), you shouldn’t trust that the data in any of these entries are valid.
Is there a reason these doubles share the same map IDs, and is it possible to change their map IDs since it makes the previous information inaccessible?
If you trust the data, and want to import/read several map records, you may need to store your data in a way, so that the multiple records with identical map-identifiers does not overwrite each other (never used jquery/leaflet, so I don’t know how you are using it/what you are doing with it).
Thank you for your reply. I looked through the links after reading your post. I couldn’t find any posts discussing the normalization (focused on reading the posts related to maps). And I know the api/service is in beta. But I still don’t understand:
==> Why does the data returned by the GW2 json services return so much redundant data?
==> Why isn’t it somewhat normalized?
This seems VERY odd to me. And as you can see, many posts report bugs (I haven’t checked if the claims in the posts are true) about duplicate data that should be identical but isn’t – which is the very reason you normalize database services like this in the first place.
Was so lazy I forgot to add newlines and spacing in the output – sorry. Here is the example again, with some more comments.

Why does the data returned by the GW2 json services return so much redundant data?
I tried to search the forum for the question I just asked, but couldn’t find any posts discussing it. I found some links that are concerned about duplicate data, but they don’t discuss why the data is present (see my 3 questions at the end of the post).
Here is one example from maps.json and map_floors.json:
From maps.json:
“80”: {
“map_name”: “A Society Function”,
“min_level”: 8,
“max_level”: 8,
“default_floor”: 1,
[…snip…]
“map_rect”: [[-21504,-21504],[24576,21504]],
“continent_rect”: [[10240,9856],[12160,11648]]
}
From map_floors.json:
“80”: {
“name”: “A Society Function”,
“min_level”: 8,
“max_level”: 8,
“default_floor”: 1,
“map_rect”: [[-21504,-21504],[24576,21504]],
“continent_rect”: [[10240,9856],[12160,11648]],
[…snip…]
}
Notice that the same data is present in both services / endpoints / (whatever). There is a lot of duplicate / redundant data in the different json services.
1) Does any of you know why the data is not more ‘normalized’?
2) Has anyone created a project that normalizes the data (fx into an sql database)?
3) Does anet plan to normalize the services (or add additional normalized services)?
If any of you have links to posts that discuss the subject, then please link them. Or please enlighten me by following up on this thread.

I haven’t looked at the map api yet.
But if you search the guildwars2.com site via google, you find:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Widget:Zone_map&action=edit
I guess the page contains various links to resources for displaying map-information on the wiki. Fx the vista icon:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d9/Vista.png
I don’t know if there is another ‘more official’ picture to use for creating maps obtained via the GW2 API Version 1. Maybe others can enlighten us. I don’t know why this information is not included in the docs (or is it???).
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
I tried to create a bare minimum simple example, for people that want use the GW2 Api and learn C++ – both with regards to readability and ease of use. The example requires Windows XP and Visual Studio.
For json parsing I looked at rapidjson, BOOST and REST (casablanca) and decided to use rapidjson (most portable, easiest to install and supports unicode fully) (REST requires Windows 7 and BOOST doesn’t fully support unicode).
Have fun.
(edited by sorenrye.7238)
And here is another problem:
1) I create an lfg
2) Someone joins the party and leaves
Now the lfg is removed and I have to recreate the lfg and type in the description again.
Fx:
1) Create lfg (description shows in the listing)
2) Someone joins that ignores the requirements in the description, I add him to my blocklist and I kick him.
3) I recreate the lfg, and enter the description, but when I submit the LFG, the description doesn’t show in the listing. I re-try to submit a new party description a couple of times, but the listing stays blank/empty.
4) I have to shut down guild wars and restart to make the LFG accept my description and show it in the listing.
If we had an option to filter, this wouldn’t had happened.
Same here.
1) Create lfg (description shows in the listing)
2) Someone joins that ignores the requirements in the description, I kick him.
3) I recreate the lfg, and enter the description, but when I submit the LFG, the description doesn’t show in the listing.
The last 3-4 days (since the release of the nightmare patch) I have experienced, and still experience, extreme lag/delays. Skills don’t activate when pressed, they activate 1-5 seconds after they should, etc and so on.
I have not been in kessex hills since the release of the last patch, what I am reporting here is occurs in pve and pvp (I haven’t tested wvw and tower of nightmares yet).
Note that before the patch, I never experienced this kind of lag on a constant regular basis. It only occurred occasionally (once per month for 10 minutes or so).
