I can do a 50 on an ele, ranger, or warrior. I’m NA and often available. I have a solid 1/2 party that I can generally get to do a 50, but please poke me if you are looking.
Bearbow Tier:
Bearbow ranger
Old Tom (Uncatagorized Fractal) , get a bear, give it retal, sit behind it, and dance.
7 days of fotm49, 7 days of jade maw. RNGesus is best jesus.
Do you think link to record page with specific filters would be fine? Or perhaps a list of available video links?
I would link to a specifically filtered record page.
While I suck really bad (worst bearbow ranger NA), it can provide a good example of how the fights change as you get better, have a good comp, and know your stuff.
Possibly link (if there is one), the current (as opposed to all time) record for a dungeon path/fractal in the guide for each path? It might encourage crazy pug tactics that make even less sense than current pug tactics, but it may also encourage additional people to go for a record.
Sure. They can add more PvE options but they should be on the more difficult scale as daily achievements go. People want more option? Okay. But they should not be ones that you can passively complete.
why, are you afraid you can’t show how l33t you are showing of daily completions?
the early ones were perfectly fine for PvE, the current ones are garbage.
You have the daily login reward system to be rewarded for hardly doing anything other than logging on once a day. They are trying to get people to break out of their routines and do things that they normally wouldn’t do. The daily system is doing just that for many people as evident by several posts by people in the forums and the chat within the game.
The daily system is not there to reward you for playing however you want. I’ve looked at daily systems in several games, including GW1 which this game is based off of, and none of them were passive “quests”. They were all specific.
Why is it you feel WvW and PvP should get rewarded for pretty much just doing their thing with their dailies, but PvE should not? Why shouldn’t they have to step out of their modes and go do PvE, which they normally would not?
I have to dip into WvW sometimes to complete my dailies, especially on double fractal days, but I don’t get rewards for them. Just worthless WvW XP and badges I’ll likely never need.
PvP requires people to play and win using various classes. These are also a very narrow aspect of the game where there are not many variation of achievements available compared to PvE.
If you’re doing the achievements for the individual reward, then don’t do them. Why are you complaining then? If you’re doing them for the AP, then yeah, dip into WvW.
If its good enough for one mode, its good enough for all the modes.
They still get to do something they enjoy, even if a little less with a new profession, while I get to do something I find as enjoyable as swimming in a pool filled with rusty razor blades.
Honestly, the wvw ones and pvp ones should be more specific and more difficult as well. I’m not big into pvp so I can’t say exactly how to make them harder (other than to increase the pvp rank points one. a hotjoin loss shouldn’t give it to you)
In WvW:
—Objective Defender should be changed to camp/tower/keep/smc. I personally think that camp would be a nice way to increase scouting. However, I understand that this could make people not want to defend more important structures on the map (defend camp over keep, for example).
—Tower/Keep Assulter turns into a specific tower or keep (or 3, one for each of the bls). If you make this SMC, you can create a scenario where you get lots of fighting, all the time.
—Siege Destroyer would be destroying X(5?) pieces of enemy siege. Get rid of Sentry Capture.
—Instead of Ruin, make it so that you have to capture bloodlust for your realm.
—I wouldn’t mind an occiasional “competing” achievement. For example, add both escorting dolyak and killing dolyak as daily achievements for the same day.
Possibly add some cross PvP/WvW (and technically a little PvE) like “Daily Spikes” where instead of a kill count, its how many enemies you spike. Would work in PvE with the toxic enemies, PvP, and WvW.
I’m hoping someone with more sPvP experience could chime in on better and more specific PvP ones. (Daily Skirmisher instead of plain kills? I don’t play enough)
I don’t see the FOTM level in the rules. I know its 50, but the 0th rule didn’t copied over.
In my guild, I think the new dailies have certainly done their job of getting people to step out of their comfort zone, and retry content that they may not have touched for years. We have people who swore off pvp for life, only to start doing unranked for dailies, and now play it for hours. People are finding out that fractals really aren’t very different from dungeons, and that you aren’t going to get hit by an 80 man zerg, have siege thrown on your corpse, and whispered at in WvW as soon as you leave spawn.
I’d actually like to see more harder dailies. Pick one of the 6 least run dungeon paths every day, and make the reward so that you get double tokens and gold from it. People have changed in how they play the game as compared to 6 months or a year ago. What was insane and impossible, is now easily doable. Add some that require group coordination, like “Have all waypoints in Cursed Shore uncontested at the same time” or “Be part of a T6 Dry Top map.” Dry Top and Silverwastes have helped switch us from one giant zerg on a map to many smaller groups, if we want the best rewards, bring the philosophy to the rest of the game.
With the addition of the login reward, I think they should move even further in the direction of putting the daily items on lesser played content (or just a rotation of all possible content). People change, the content changes, and they should use their little carrots to try things again.
2,100 hours played, 2 precursors dropped (both Rage). One from guild missions, one from some BG kitten in WvW.
But yeah the problem today is the 21-30 fractal which cant be done without preparation.
I asked in LA if its possible to do this level without AR and was told not to.
I don’t really agree with double fractals, but I think that they should change all of the X level fractal ones to “Complete a fractal at your reward level or higher” That gets rid of the “I can’t do that level” complaints.
The only reason I bothered with ascended armor (2 whole pieces) was to get me from 60AR to 70AR without worrying about weapons (more weapon choices to make). I command in WvW, do arah, and haven’t noticed a difference in my performance. Keeping my rotation up, and maintaining the group buffs are so much more important that I’m not sure I would ever notice a difference unless I joined DnT or one of the other hardcore dungeon guilds (and I know I’m not that good).
Oh, I thought this was about using a Norn as a trident.
That would be silly. We know that Norns use bears as underwater harpoon guns.
(And yes, please turn some of the tridents into staff skins!)
Well, the workers have all now lost their tools without realizing it. I can’t help but think that if LA had hired the local Sylvari 93 Tree-growers Union, they would have regrown the bridges for you already.
That’s the problem with the non-union labor in LA, they can’t figure out if they have a tool in their hand or not.
Before, it would tell you there was an update, and when you leave the zone, it would patch and re-enter. I don’t get a warning, when I leave a zone, it tells me that I have lost connection, and when I restart gw2, it downloads an update (or it is redownloading a ~10MB file over and over). I don’t know if there have been multiple hotfixes since the sept patch or not, to know if the bug is on my end (i.e. my gw2.dat file is broken and I need to leave the game on overnight to redownload), or the game no longer says there is a patch.
If they merge two servers together, the smaller server will be the guest until they dissolve into the larger server’s organization and guilds.
Did you consider using a google doc instead of a big forum list (it may be easier to sort through and maintain)
Example: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/185muEQ-x6gzKg3Y_r_FcJgy9RuKiqKvv-WsXYw6o3JQ/edit?usp=sharing
although you may want to make your own.
As someone who has played from T1 – T8, the game is not “ded” down at the bottom, it’s just a different game. It required much higher coordination in the lower tiers than it does in the high ones, you may have 2 25-30 forces on all 4 maps on a weeknight, with possibly 2-3 scouts/roamers on the maps without the main force. I think we have a higher percentage of players on TS now than when we were T1 (SoR here) when the matches are close. Most hours of the day we have a tag up in EB, and generally a 2nd tag that is moving bl to bl, keeping pressure elsewhere.
I’m having much more fun down here than I ever did when we were T1, it seems like everyone takes it just a little bit less seriously, and I think it shows. We still have 20-30 minutes fights over a waypointed structure, but no one explodes when we lose one, it’s just a game in the end, and you can build the waypoint all over again.
We canned our reset night raid after 30 minutes last night. Couldn’t do anything. It seems mostly fixed at this point, but we’ll see when NA prime rolls around again this evening. SoR here.
Other guilds that generally do not fail (an hour early is crazy talk) in NA include SAGA, EG, DEAD, LoSD. WooT also sets one up most days, I believe. If you get to a map, there is a commander, and people are willing to do the defense groups, you almost never fail. (PS: you get the same rewards on defense groups, and most of the time, it’s a cakewalk) Most of those groups set up around 30 minutes beforehand, after TTS has finished setting up, because no one wants to set up at the same time, you can’t find a map.
I’m not sure if you are NA or EU, but in NA (and I assume EU) there are a lot of guilds that kill it daily. I think that an hour early is way excessive, but we usually start organizing about 30 minutes before he spawns. I don’t know about your guild status, but your guild may know when the best times are (8pm/11pm EST for the groups I know of), and who they usually run with (SAGA/EG/DEAD in my case). If you have a teamspeak, and about 10-15 guild members who are going to be there and get on it, you can generally organize a kill yourself. Feel free to contact me in game if you want to try and run one with your guild. I don’t always have the numbers to organize a map, but am more than willing to explain strategy as a zerg pin for the fight.
(EDIT: really. Can and usually can’t be next to each other)
Nah, we are all just filling our banks with poulty and lemongrass, waiting for season 3.
I understand the vines are foreshadowing for a new release, but can you please contest the waypoint, or make it so we don’t get stuck inside the vines? It’s annoying that if you go to that waypoint, you get stuck inside the vine and have to waypoint elsewhere.
As stated by a couple people, the primary problem is in organizing large fights like Tequatl or Guild Missions (due to map population cap). While overflows were annoying, they at least let large guilds force a new overflow to be created and then party taxi everyone to the (nearly) empty overflow before it fills with randoms.
As the OP stated, though, the Megaserver’s algorithm seems a bit out of whack lately. A couple days ago I was put into a different map than my entire party, who were also the only other guild members online at the time, from the same home server, and on my friend list. And yet I was able to still party taxi over to their map because the population cap had not been reached. This means the Megaserver algorithm completely failed in every aspect.
Soft-caps exist now. You get thrown to another instance and can join on people to get in. From what we can tell with large scale events is that soft cap is somewhere around 90 on the map.
I’m of the opinion that there should be 2 soft-caps:
1) Around 80-90 people on the map, no new people can join map without already being in party of someone on map.
2) Around 120 (map cap is still 150, right?) means that no one joins without right-clicking and joining a member in map (no auto-join).
Possibly these numbers could be based on the velocity of joins, so that the goal is a minute of time for party members to join a map after it soft-capped, and another minute for force joins.
Hmm, no problems here, most times I land in the same shard as party and guild members, unless that shards is really packed (Dry Top the first few days), or because those guild/party members are based on a different home server.
Same here, experienced no problems with MegaServer. The only time I run into issues where they are on a different megaserver is when the map is really full and I am unable to join their map. If that’s the case they just join mine and the issue is fixed.
You have never done organised Tequatl or THW events, have you?
We only run into issues with Teq when we are organizing at the official spawn time. I’m not sure how you can make a megaserver isolate all the right guilds when you have 100+ people joining every 2 minutes. Outside of the world boss train, which has the too many people too fast problem, I’ve never had an issue getting our guild together (25 people) for missions, and several of them are other servers. I generally see my guild in the same instance if I randomly zone in (LA, Rata Sum, Cursed Shore, etc.), and the the frequency of this has increased every week. In addition, I have settled into a grouping in terms of other guilds, it seems. I generally see the same dozen or so people with tags at world bosses.
And even Teq isn’t that bad, unless you are organizing at the same time as TTS. Once they set their maps, you can get one that stays joinable for 5-10 minutes. If you really want a guild Teq kill, spawn it yourself.

I can’t find the answer with google, but what do we make with geodes in the mystic forge? (It’s listed as a useable item)
Over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed an increaded time delay in what would show up for member location and/or rep status on my machine.
This week, during guild missions, it showed everyone at our meetup location during the entire length of guild missions, even when they were right next to me, in my party, and on my instance of a map. It also showed some of them as not repping, when they clearly were, talking in guild chat, and I had visual on them repping.
Windows 8.1, Verizon FiOS, using google DNS.
I often run a music bot for our guild on the world boss train, and am attempting to come up with theme songs for each world boss.
The easiest of them is Karka Queen, with Queen’s Killer Queen.
What other songs are there for various world bosses?
Honestly, the time I have the most fun is when I am the only driver on our 4 maps, normally you have 25-35 following you, a few scouts, and you know that the opposing sides also generally have 1 driver, a few scouts, and 25-35 in the maps. You are playing a huge game of Risk, guessing where they are going to go next, trading a paper tower while you go take down a waypointed keep, hoping you can get through it before they realize that you are taking a waypoint. Even if the zerg agrees that PPT is important, you are playing a constant math game of how many people are going to leave because the action is not/enough/no ktrain/no openfield, how many are going to come on because you are making a push to eliminate enemy waypoints, and how many you can get into TS and possibly take turns as a scout.
I think the 4-map strategy is harder and more rewarding in the lower tiers than it was when I was in T1. I wouldn’t go back to T1, in fact the only reason I might jump off my server is if we were back in that QQ potatohole.
On a tier 7 server, I had over 150 in the server TS, plus a decent sized guild running in raidcall on reset this week. If we were to merge with another server, how many of us are going to get locked out in queues on the weekend? We queued 2 maps, and I would expect that any 2 servers from the lowest tier would still queue all 4 maps for several hours at NA prime time during the weekend. When I was in T1, if I wanted to play on the weekend, the queues would be long, sometimes hours, during NA primetime. If we got merged, my choices at reset are to jam my buttons and hope I get in fast enough, or go play another game on friday nights. I can tell you quickly I would stop jamming buttons to try and get in, and just play another game.
Well Met!
I purchased this game with my girlfriend back in March and we just recently got the chance to start playing with finals being finally over!
We must admit that this game is so beautiful and that there is so much to explore~ We absolutely love it!
However, as we played to level 28, we noticed that from time to time, we would see a large group of coordinated people showing up to do group events. How can they tell where the events are held? How do they coordinate together?? And how do we join them???
Help from you fine Tyrians would be appreciated!
Also, please share with us any good articles we should read for new players based on the new world of guild wars 2 (post the April patch)!
Thanks in advance,
Kount
I know that as a guild, one of us will walk by an event, or series of events that we know generate a lot of loot. Normally we post it up in guild chat that those events are going, and all of a sudden, it looks like we are a highly coordinated group of people doing events.
Another place to look for events is on your server’s unofficial website. I am on Sanctum of Rall, so I can’t speak for all the other servers, but we have a calendar with various guilds putting up public events that they are doing (everything from dungeon learning runs, to naked runs through Orr). That might also be a good place to find events that people are doing.
I will turn 50 this year, meaning I get my AARP card, Is there any discount on the BLTC for card carrying oldsters like myself?
Who the heck are you calling “oldsters” at 50?
AARP cards have been going in the trash can for the last 7 years when they show up at my house.
-Not interested in legendary walker or ascended dentures.
Ascended dentures on autoattack. Sounds like a balancing problem that would bite ANet on the butt.
Dentures of the Ancient God:
250 Vicious Fangs
250 Ancient Wood Planks
50 Globs of Ectoplasm
250 Piles of Crystalline Dust
And after every 1000 aa’s, you need to polish them with another 25 piles of crystalline dust.
As a guild, we made a choice to unlock everything before we started working on continuous buffs.
We don’t quite get the influence to do continuous buffs for all buffs, but we made the choice to have MF running continuously, and karma on the weekends. MF is the “cheapest” to do, and waypoint is the most expensive.
Keep track of how many members log in each day for a couple of weeks. We had 25-30 people log in each weekday, but 65-70 on the weekends, so we made the choice to runs lots of buffs all weekend, and not so much during the week. As we grow from here, we plan on adding to the boosts through the week.
Our planned order of trying to get perma buffs are:
1) MF Boost (cheaper than everything else)
2) Karma
3) Gold from Kills
4) Kill Exp
5) Gathering Bonus
6) Crafting Critial
7) Waypoint (this is more expensive than everything else)
On SoR, we add the bandit to that list, as well as the wasp fairly frequently. It seems that about every other loop the wasp pops while waiting for the boar, and if you are lucky, you can agro them together and kill them at the same time.
