kitten and Arken are very good players they could beat 99% of the scrubs left playing with just about any guardian build that isn’t complete rubbish. I wouldn’t recommend Hammer or GS builds for your average player. They really weren’t good in the past im not sure what changed to make them particularly good now.

Imo, and it wont be popular with some, is that Necros should always skew toward conditions meaning the absolute best specs for Necro should always be condition based.

The Vital Persistence change was fairly trivial. It only heavily effected shroud-sitting playstyles, but shroud-sitting is bronze level play anyways. The biggest benefit of Vital Persistence has always been the shroud cd reduction. Soul Reaping’s potency as a traitline has always come from it’s minors particularly Gluttony and Strength of Undeath.

The saddest change was honestly the change to Signets of Suffering, since it completely killed the effectiveness of Signet builds in PvP. (not to mention equipping Plague Sig with the new Signets of Suffering is extremely hazardous to your health.)

The only nerf to meta necromancer was the fact that Thieves didn’t get any nerfs.

So all the people that complained about the vital persistence nerf are bronze level players? Thats the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. When 90% of a community of players complain about something it is a problem. At least they listened and applied a fix although it still won’t be as good as the old vital persistance. Do you even play Necro you sound like an idiot Shroud is the core of the reaper spec even for glassier condi builds its your main defense.

Necros have sucked for awhile now I gave up on mine once you could only solo or duo queue in ranked because I couldn’t group with friends to coordinate the chain rezzes and peels you need against anyone decent in pvp with a Necro. This is like cutting the head off the corpse of a guy you shot to death with 100 bullets first months ago.

flesh worm and spectral walk are ancient relics, theyre trash now.

worm = 1200 distance + criple/chill
…. in past that meant something, now even guards can gap close and everybody has cleanses to beat reaper level chills, base is just freekill

specral walk = 0 distance + swiftness + potential port over ledge or cca 900 distance (IF YOU CAN MOVE)
…again like above, everything is so powercreeped that pure kiting with distance doesnt exist anymore. also walk desperately needs superspeed atm to not move 0 distance and then port back

All wurm does is teleport away from your team mates (who can res or heal you) to die. Seen as when you teleport somewhere, like you say, every guardian/mesmer/thief/rev will be back on you within about 1 second with their unlimited gap closers

Anybody that takes wurm is an idiot. When I ditched my necro for burn guardian last season I would figure out where the wurm was and either destroy in 2 seconds or wait for the necro to use and then use judges intervention and sword 2 to kill him in a couple of seconds far away from any teammates to help. The only decent defensive skill is spectral armor and its not nearly enough.

Have you any idea how useless a lot of Necro SKILLS are in PvE? Not builds, traits, specs… but SKILLS. Core spells of the class.

So an entire expansion and nothing new for spvp players that play Necro. Got ya.

I quit after about 40 games even though my w-l percentage was about 65%. The skill level was as low as its ever been. Same uneven unfun matches for the most part.

The so called top pros of N American pvp have always been some of the worst human beings around. They basically killed GW2 pvp in N/A but you have some Eurotrash and there N/A synchophands still riding there balls and defending. We all know they are great players so why do they have to engage in all the shennanigans they have. Why? Because they are immature little kids with no morals. The only people that matter are themselves 100% of the time. Hopefully they will grow out of that mind set eventually its not like they are axe murderers just self absorbed little kids with an outsized sense of importance based on success at a video game.

Even that dinosaur Warcraft has the function. You block someone for whatever reason, you never have to run anything with them ever again.

Do it.

Can’t enable it game-wide? Enable it for PvP.
Cull the trolls, cull the uncooperative, cull the ineffective as we go, let people find those they can work with.

Automated ranking alone is not enough.
Let players choose whom they ascend with.

Warcraft has about 100x the players this game does. You would just end up exploding your qeueu times most likely. And this could be abused so easily. I would just block everyone I knew sucked some of the toxic players are actually good I wouldn’t even block a lot of them. The bads though would all get blocked.

No clue to be honest. There have been times where extended disconnects (greater then a minute or two) would cause you to not lose rating if the player was not grouped with you and times where you still would loss rating. We appear to be back to penalizing people for things beyond there control regardless. It seems intentional to me. I’m going to guess its some ridiculous attempt to stop intricate match manipulation where people try to synch queue and then someone goes ld if he is on a different team to ensure a win for his friends. So we are all paying now for something that is extremely rare. A-net pls revert to lds of people not grouped with you not costing you rating.

I don’t understand why I see as many Nercos as I do in spvp. Its close to the worst class really for solo or duo play since its so defenseless especially at the beginning of matches and you really can’t be baby sat with coordinated team play since its generally all solos. And not to be mean tickler the couple of times I have faced you on my burn guard I had no problems killing you repeatedly solo let alone with any help.

The people that get upset at stuff like the end of match screen when they lose you really shouldn’t be playing anything competitive as far as I am concerned you can’t handle it. And really when you do something badly you should feel a little humiliated. Thats the problem with modern society in general is no one thinks they ever do anything poorly and no one thinks they should ever feel bad about anything even for a 1 second. Not that that stupid screen is meant to be anything but a light hearted joke.

Post you game logs so we can see. Not doubting you would just like real evidence. The problems with the matchmaking go beyond w and l. I generally do pretty well but its not fun at all to win 500-200 or greater and scores like that happen a lot and when I do lose a lot of the time its similar type scoring and I didn’t play any differently from when I won by that margin. Also, I think some of this could be perspective you might actually think that 1/4 to 1/3 of the games being blow outs it totally acceptable well many would disagree with that.

The Perfect Match - But What Happened?

One could argue there is nothing “perfect” about any match that involves plat and bronze players together regardless of whether the numbers on each side are equal. We have to get past the idea that as long as the average MMR on both sides are close to equal that means good. Bronze should only play with other bronzes and parts of silver. This is a weakest link type game meaning you are generally only as good as the weakest players on your team because the weak will be targeted and culled. They will not be able to win fights where they are the majority of the players involved for one side. Its not fair to have players in with people much more skilled then they are. Conversely its not fair for better players to be teamed with people much less skilled then are. Until they are willing to trade increased queue times for better matches better matches are not going to happen consistently. MMR averaging teams is a flawed concept when you allow too big of a range of players to be involved.

Matches like this happen all the time. Its a joke really. You are only as strong as the weakest link on your squad. How are two 1500 MMR people going to win fights against multiple people 250 MMR + higher then them. Its impossible.

On average, you should get weaker players on both teams. Maybe you should reflect on your own gameplay if you’re consistently losing.

Thats not necessarily true. I would agree that over time it should probably even out the automatic losses/wins due to shoody matchmaking but a much better system would match you only with people at your MMR level. They tried it one season and imo it was much better then this but they junked it because the bad players literally could not win any games.

They need to enforce strict MMR ranges on teams. You are usually only as good as the weakest player or two on your team. Its is not fair to ask better players to carry weaker players. It is not fair to expect people that know the basics like the back of there hand to play with people that play like they have never conquest before. The idea that you can take two teams and if the MMR average of both is roughly the same that means it will be an ok match does not bare out in reality. I think +100 or -100 MMR range (from your MMR) would be fine. Queue times would increase but I think most would rather have better matches.

There is a long way to go in this season. Anything is possible over 100-150 games. Not trying to be a downer i’ve played Burn Guardian plenty it can work but its as weak as its been in awhile (a lot of self condi cover has been removed) and Im dubious about how good it at higher levels. That being said the player base is as small and skill less as its ever been so lots of things can work probably if your skilled enough.

When I look at the top stats at end of the game the vast majortiy of the time the people awarded them are also the people I felt played best in the game. Also, if you play a lot and have a good memory of who the better players are again they are the ones getting the top stats usually. Most people build there classes to fill a specific role. For example if you are a dps you should be getting top damage and/or kills often. So long story short I feel like extra pips for top stats are totally appropriate.

Support in this game has an actual meaning and its usually buffing and healing. It’s a role. If you are mainly damage and were asked in chat at the start of match what you were and you said support you could cause others to switch into something not complementary at all.

No they weren’t. Thats the best way to balance imo. When something is over represented you have to nerf it harshly to push people away from it and then you bring it back up later. Good to see Guardian lowly represented as well. Both were way too popular the last couple of seasons.

I’m amazed at 5/6 Necro I know they are stronger in group play where they can be baby sat but rezzing is much harder then it used to be although I guess the teams have to be filled with something.

Duo queue just makes it easier. There would be plenty of cheating if it was solo only don’t kid yourself. The problem is unscrupulous kittens. If you are good not being in a duo is not going to stop you from having a high rating. It might stop you from being top 20-50 but come on that’s not a reasonable goal for most of you complainers. The main problem is not duo its match manipulation and synch queing to get three + in matches. Most of the time when you are facing a duo you will have a duo on your own side and sometimes you will get a duo and the other side has none believe it or not these things tend to even out over time.

Necromancers are one of the worst if not worst class right now for spvp. Part of the problem is the environment. In a solo and duo environment there just isn’t the coordination possible for the peels and rezzing necessary for a Necro to be effective. All it takes is a couple of damage dealers with a clue and they can and will kill any Necro over and over again. There is no getting around you start the match with zero life force making you an extremely easy kill to any kind of coordinated damage.

Wow. Our off-hand weapons are stellar. All of the skills are great as is. If you want to buff them, I’m not going to argue. To say they are currently bad boggles my mind.

Ray of judgement is an ESSENTIAL condi clear in the condi met in sPvP. Cleansing flame is the same for WvW. And shield of judgement is a huge source of DPS in shattered aegis builds.

Guardians are the greatest class ever. I don’t know why anyone ever plays anything else!

Not even 30. More like 22-24 hours or so. 10 minute games and a 2 minute queue would get you to about 24 but that may be a little higher then what it actually is my queues are not 2 min on average probably more like 1 min 30 seconds. Over an 8 week season that is three hours a week. To me that is the definition of casual. This isn’t candy crush or a game you play on your smartphone.

Restricting leagues to solo and duo only is one of the main reasons pvp
died. You are over-exaggerating the effect duos have on your w/l. Its actually very insignificant and evens out over time.

They refuse to take any steps that would increase queue times and since they wont we’ll always have awful matchmaking. I mean wtbfd couldn’t they at least try to enforce tighter MMR ranges and if queues were that bad you could just hotfix in something. They operate under totally flawed thought processes with the matchmaking. The number one goal should be match quality and that only comes by having all players in a extremely small rating range in a match.

What do you mean by ok? Being able to beat people of lower skill level then youself? Because thats not ok. In solo/duo queue they are one of the worst classes period. Making changes to builds for more survivability just makes them weaker in there role. I mean thats ridiculous to say well Im going to water down what makes a Nerco good to live a little longer. So you are going to do even less damage. Why would I do that when I could play something else with better sustain and damage? I probably have at least a thousand matches on Necro and they are at the worst spot ever since I started playing mine about 18 months ago. Really except for that sweet spot where deathly chill was actually worthwhile they have been nothing but average to poor and almost always required decent teammates to do well the whole time I have been playing mine.

The forest creatures work just fine. You don’t “have” to kill them. In fact you should probably ignore them unless its really close at the end and you need to catch up or it can win it for you at the end.

A lot of classes got weaker. As for being trash tier thats probably half the classes right now. When you spend a fair amount of time at the top you should expect to spend some time at the bottom. I can’t say Im happy where the class is but I wasn’t happy when DH was strong either because I dont like that play style at all. It totally didnt fit the class concept. I would just not play Guardian this pvp season. Hopefully A-net will get the message and buff things that make sense. To me guardians should be support. Either offense oriented with a little support or defense oriented with a lot of support. But always an element of support should be involved. Guardian as full out dps was never meant to be a thing imo.

Pretty much correct. Wasn’t always this way though. Necros have eaten a lot of nerfs. They have always been bad in 1v1 but with smart play and a couple of teammates that aren’t complete idiots you could do well. In organized groups is where you could really shine. Duo/Solo Queue is the worst situation for them because you cant play with a group to chain rez or call out peels and a couple of coordinated dps can just kill you over and over again. For some reason a lot of people are trying to play power builds again but they are actually still worse then the Condition builds that have been around for a long time and continually nerfed. Nos came up with a power build that strip boons and all the lemmings flocked to it even though its not really particularly any good. He did well with it but he is the best Necro player in the world and duo’d half the time with another one of the best players in the world during the last ranked season. There is no compelling reason to play Necro right now in SPVP except for misguided loyalty to the class or the fact it just might be the class someone has the most experience on and is best at really.

Reaper is one of the weakest spvp classes at the moment. Especially the power builds people keep trying to trot those out because condi is so lack luster but trust me if your name is not Nos don’t parrot his power builds because you aren’t as good as he is. It’s him not that build. Stay away from Reaper and be happy. In solo queue Reaper is a free kill if people know how to use the call function without teammmates to coordiante peels with there is no excuse to not just down the enemy Reaper over and over again.

There was not a viable build for every class last season. Viable to me means successful against people your own skill level. For example playing a necro or revenant last season you would not have done as well against people your own skill level as you would have on a Warrior, DH, or Thief. They hardly changed some kind of awesome balance. This game has contantly had roughly half the classes lagging behind on the power curve. That doesn’t mean they were totally worthless just not the best. There is always whats best and its alway only a portion of the available classes.
