What do you think about this? :
When queueing as a team the highest MMR is considered for the whole team.
- That would make teaming with lower MMR players useless yet possible.
- That would increase the overall MMR for the matchmaking algorithms, so I think (I might be wrong) that would reduce the queueing times for high MMR teams.
- It is still possible to reduce the MMR to achieve better queueing times if a team of 4 queues as a team of 4, and a random low MMR player is assigned to fill the group. That would be more fair than having a low MMR player of their choice.
Lion’s Arch is like Erebor, everybody wants it and that causes a lot of trouble. Lion’s Arch has its perks, it’s an important trading port and a magical place, but some people may say it’s cursed: Civil war, flooding, undead attacks, karka attacks, Scarlet(, the Mad King :p) …
If I ruled Kryta I would move away from Lion’s Arch, but a port to the Sea of Sorrows is important. Right now which port is in the hands of Kryta? Garenhoff? Hakewood? That Tengu wall is troublesome.

1769 BE – The Forgotten arrive in Tyria.
1320 AE – Edge of Destiny takes place. Kralkatorrik, the Elder Crystal Dragon awakens.3089 years since the arrival of the forgotten until the death of Glint. That would explain Eir’s statement on Glint having three thousand years of memories, she doesn’t take into account the time Glint was under Kralkatorrik’s command.
Glint was freed during the previous dragonrise – hence the fact that Glint hid the surviving races from the Elder Dragons. Your basically saying “Glint was freed during the dragonrise which took place about 3,000 years ago” and does nothing but say “the second scenario is the case”.
…
That’s true. Unless Glint didn’t hid the races from the Elder Dragons but from the remaining minions, which may be awake even if their master isn’t. In fact Kralkatorrik didn’t attack Glint just as she was freed. Either he didn’t realised back then or he was already sleeping.
But the second scenario (~2000BE as the last dragonrise) seems to be more likely, has less mistakes.
A possible explanation for Varra’s dialogue:
- This is an amazing discovery! The jotun’s sky-sweeper shows a stellar match with the last time the dragons awoke.
What does this prove?
- It shows that the awakening of the dragons is a natural and cyclical thing. The stars only indicate the passing ages. They do not determine events here.
When did it last happen?
- Around ten thousand years ago. You know what this means? The Elder Dragons may have been responsible for the extinction of the Giganticus Lupicus!
Maybe Jotun’s sky-sweeper doesn’t meassure time in years but in seasons. So if a year has four seassons that means the last awakening would have been 2500 years ago. That is closer to other theories, but would have been a weird mistake by Varra.
Hopefully someone answers you.
By the way, do we know the date of the six god’s arrival to Tyria? Where they in Tyria during the last dragonrise?

There is no need to play GW1, the lagoon could be seen in the map. Now there are cliffs.
The amount of wáter needed to fill those caverns would be too large to be done in one update, and may break some parts of the jumping puzzle imo.
I think we may go back further in time and find wáter in some places of the map. That or the intention was to have wáter in these flashbacks but didn’t work.
If there is a flood however a lot of skritt may die, although it seems they are preparing for it xD.

Did you notice how Canach suggested destroying the egg? I’m sure he would try if given the chance, while thinking he’s doing he right thing. After so many forced hate we have a reason to tell him to stay away. Now my doubt is: are Caithe and Canach working together?
Mender looks like a small fully-plant copy of a troll
To me they look a bit like Grawl, or possibly monkeys.
Grawl and troll share the same general shape. They are definitely plants and not corrupted beings. More likely based off of trolls too given that grawl are native to Ascalon and displaced to the Shiverpeaks. The only relation grawl have to jungle is in the Edge if the Mists.
They remind me of gargoyles. One of the few species with healing (resurrection) capabilities. Do we have a close up picture?

I’m sure it’s been already pointed out in the past, but those symbols in the bottom right of the achemy circle (top left in the new image) seem to represent the gods.
By the time of Lord Odran, Abaddon was already imprisioned, but he probably had knowledge of him. One symbol is repeated, both in the six symbol group and alone with three triangles, with a minnor difference. I would say that’s Abaddon’s symbol, and maybe it’s predecessor.
There is a symbol made with two circles: Ilya and Lyss (Lyssa)
The couple of symbols next to the triangle with the circle in it may be Dhumm and Menzies. One of the symbols if similar to another symbol of the group of six, that may correspond to Dhumm-Grenth or Menzies-Balthazar (I would bet for Dhumm-Grenth).
He used to live in an hydrated area. Now he is in dry top, and his color has turn green. In the future it will become yellow if he spends too much time away from the water :p
Ok, thanks for the info.
I was leveling around Fields of Ruin and found this place: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cymbel%27s_Rescue
I had been there before but didn’t realize of the resemblance with: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/thumb/3/37/Pale_Tree.jpg/800px-Pale_Tree.jpg
It looks like a pale tree in an early stage, younger than the current pale tree in GW1. I doubt it will grow any time soon, but may be an important place once we go after Kralkatorrik.
It’s also possible that this place means nothing.
Has anyone brought this up before?
Thoughts?
Is there any menu where I can look for past feature descriptions? I’m missing the old Hints menu where you could see the hints discovered. I think it would be useful to new players to check how a specific feature works if they missed the pop up message when it was unlocked.
There’s no armor diversity for any of the armor classes. GW1 had unique looking armor sets for each profession. Armor that was made non-specific so as to work for any of three professions just comes out looking bland.
That doesn’t make sense. You can have themed armor but make it available through the armor class.
I’ve never understood by some people desperately want profession exclusive armor. Why would you want to limit your choices ? For the sake of “exclusivity ?” …
That’s right, we are already too limited and don’t need more locked stuff.
I never said it wasn’t realistic (it is not), I complain about the feel of it. It doesn’t feel like a longbow. It was already unrealistic before the patch, but I could stand it at least.
I used to bring a longbow with me but I swapped to a different weapon due to the change to Rapid Fire. It may be stronger but it looks like I’m shooting a machine gun. I had a similar problem with shortbow so now I use axe for range.
Am I the only one feeling this way?
If they wanted to speed up the cast time of the attack they could have halved the number of shots while doubling the effect (2xVuln+2xDmg or 2xArrows). Right now the animation looks ridiculous.
If Asuran portals use power crystals, they may be ruled out as ley line hints. That may not apply to older teleports (Drascir-Nolani, Augury Rock-Dragon’s Lair-Droknar Forge, mursaat’s or titan’s), I don’t know.
I didn’t consider player teleports or those of the Crystal Desert because of their short range.
I wonder if power crystals were used back in GW1, since they built the Central Transfer Chamber next to Primordius.

Humans start worshipping other deities, like the Grawl, starting their great civil wars…
The only humans that worshiped other deities – that’s known to us – would be splinter cults, and those groups did not wage wars.
What about the War in Kryta?
I saw the hole and though: mmm, there may be a lost coin inside… but nope, no exit, nothing inside. I was lucky and could wp out, but it seems it can be worse.
The pale tree dies > Malick’s Tree is found and welcome’s other sylvari as their “aunt” > New sylvari grow there > Tengu get out of the dominion and become playable > Caledon forest becomes their starting area.
Now the Sylvari starter PS is a ruined jumbled mess because the other tree is in Maguuma wastes or Jungle, and nowhere CLOSE to Caledon forest.
They would get a new starting area and personal story. Having the same story wouldn’t make sense :p.
If the 2nd pale tree becomes the new Sylvari home it would most likely be surrounded by lvl 80 areas. Also I doubt Anet would take away the Sylvari PS they have right now since they were involved with defeating Zhaitan. That would mean every Sylvari that was made in the new tree would get screwed out of the chance to experience Zhaitan’s story.
That’s right. I just want tengu :P.

Well, not every encounter, that’s too much xD, I wanted to say zones where they appear, just as you have done with destroyers. How did you get the images you are using on your map? the portals, the destroyers, etc. I would need some to update the map :p.
I think it would be interesting to map every dragon minion encounter, maybe they follow a pattern. For example, do Kralkatorrik minios wander outside the brand?, do destroyers appear on possible ley lines?
I just finished the last chapter andyou may want to add the portal in barradin's state.
Also, when you say Terranova, do you mean Thaumanova?, or asura instead of azura?.
Look past the internet, it will come back
. I know you did a lot of work, but the premise of “ley lines” means someone can (use) your own maps to prove you are “mistaken” by simply drawing another connection.
It is the nature of the beast. I’m sorry I am such a wet blanket on this topic.
I’ve thought of charting a map to prove every death my Character has had is because of ley lines but I lack ambition to do so.
Yes, you are right. Fortunately, I don’t care if I’m wrong, this is just for fun. I know I won’t save Tyria with this research ^^.
Pick a theory. Any theory. You can plot ley lines to prove it. /sigh
OMG! That’s for real? I’m gonna check out for more ley lines, I think my house is on top of a ley line hub.
About the probes, I would join them in a different way, is there any map without the banana peel? :p
Your house will undoubtedly be on a line, and then you can hire a RL “Ley line dowser” to move your bed around to avoid insomnia for only a couple K. Some will even plot safe locations for pet beds. And use “earth acupuncture”. SMH

No need to download, you can hit the zoom button twice.
The path linking the Dry Top hub and COE/Crystal Desert is interesting. Consider the Dry Top hub and the ways that the leyline magic levitates the rocks in the immediate area. Then consider other places in Maguuma/Tarnished Coast where rocks are floating (Goemm’s Lab, Morgan’s Spiral). The path on your map between COE and the leyline hub passes directly through these locations.
Oh, yes, nice find. In GW1 there were more floating rocks, I’ll check where exactly. And Rata Sum is a huge floating city, so another ley line could pass nearby.
And nice maps, but I can’t zoom in from that link, this one works better:

Nice to see you here ^^.
Added to the map the path of the vines and some portals to the mists:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21769683/guild_wars_2_ley_lines_2.jpg
I’m not sure if they are all right.
About the Crucible of Eternity vine path, there are some interesting places that may lie on it in addition to LA and CoE:
The Temple of the Ages
Divinity’s Reach (The Great Colapse), why did Scarlet go there?
Augury Rock
Vabbi
Here is another video from the one who gave me the idea for the thread:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH8gIRF6HQ4
The previous video is linked in the first post.
It seems that his second ley line matches the vines.
I wish I knew German :p
What are those points?, waypoints with vines?
Looks good, thanks.
Some interesting facts:
The Mordremoth-Chaos Crystal Caverns ley line may cross the Temple of the Ages, if there aren’t vines there may be because it’s a low level area.
Then, the vines go north-east until they reach the Central Transfer Chamber. I think that is probably a ley line intersection and Mordremoth starts to follow a different ley line to go south-east, to the Caverns or Ascalon City.

I am using the map by that_shaman: http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/guild_wars_2_points_of_interest.jpg
Here is the result: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21769683/guild_wars_2_ley_lines.jpg
I should think how to add more info without the map getting messy.
That’s a good idea. A detailed map may be too heavy for most host sites. I’ll try to do something and upload it to dropbox.
I’m not sure how to draw ley lines though. We can see in Scarlet’s defeat video they aren’t straight lines.
According to this interview the lines are like rivers: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/lore/New-lore-interview-to-Anet-lore-team/first#post4227196
I wonder if there is a source or a sink.
(edited by versidia.4520)
I came up with another kind of portals that may lie on ley lines, the ones we destroyed during the last mission of prophecies and titan’s used to travel to different locations of Tyria.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Titan_quest
These locations are:
Mineral Springs
North Kryta Province
Near Denravi
South-east of Drascir(East frontier gate)
and North-west of Drascir (South-east of Hrangmer volcano)
Denravi is aligned with Abbadon’s mouth and RataSum, and is close to the ley line hub.
Frontier Gate and Mineral Springs locations are aligned with Abbadon’s mouth.
I don’t know what to think about the others.
Yeah, I also thought of using Asura portals to trace ley lines. The portal that led to Eye of the North (boreal station) was conected with 3 other portals, in LA, Kaineng and Kamadan. On one hand I don’t know how exact are the locations of Kaineng and Kamadan in the map I’m using, on the other hand the locations of the portals seem too convenient.
What do you think about possible ley lines connecting these cities and the portal below EotN?
Maybe the portals don’t need to be on the same ley line to work and it is possible connect portals on two different ley lines. But if they need to be in the same one it would make sense to build many portals on top of mayor ley line intersections like Lion’s Arch, or the Central Transfer Chamber, where Primordius was.
Yes, it is pointless, and if waypoints are everywhere, it is impossible to guess every ley line. I would focus only on mayor ones, as I said this is just for fun.
Well you could try by finding that picture about the route of the vines. It wouldn’t be to much of a surprize if these would follow ‘a’ (or more) ley lines, from the ley line hub in dry top to ‘where ever’ they end up? Or at least partially?
You mean this one? http://i.imgur.com/2GBo51U.png
I think it is possible to guess where we can find ley lines. I missed when ley lines where revealed to us, so I can’t be sure, but if I’m not wrong both Lion’s Arch and the hub in Dry Top are points of intersection between several ley lines. After the defeat of Scarlet a surge of energy goes from Lion’s Arch to Thaumanova and beyond. I think it is safe to asume that that’s a ley line that joins both intersections.
Someone suggests something similar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V56zVCsZzZY
We’ve been hinted that ley lines have something to do with long-distance teleportation: waypoints and leylines are related and the disaster of the Thaumanova reactor provokes chaotic teleportations. Furthermore, if we extend this ley line to Ascalon it crosses Nolani Academy and Drascir’s. Those who played prophecies may remember the portal at the end of the Ruins of Surmia quest that connects both academies.
That may be a coincidence, but I hope it’s not.
I looked at other teleportations during prophecies:
After completing the ascension in Augury Rock you are teleported to Dragon’s Lair, where Glint and the Tombs of the Primeval Kings were, and Kralkatorrik is now. If we trace a ley line that crosses both places (this may help: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/a/a2/Tyria_world_fan_map_%28freestyle%29.jpg) it crosses Evonhawke, Surmia and Drascir… and Kralkatorric previous resting place. He may have flown over a ley line!
The next teleport is at the end of Dragon’s Lair quest, and leads us to Droknar’s Forge (right where Crucible of Eternity is now). If we trace a ley line (this may be more helpful this time: http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/guild_wars_2_points_of_interest.jpg) through those points it crosses the ley line hub in Dry Top and passes near the Thaumanova Reactor!
Finally, we are teleported from Thunderhead Keep to Ember Light Camp (use this one again: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/a/a2/Tyria_world_fan_map_%28freestyle%29.jpg). The ley line here would cross Evonhawke, Droknar’s Forge and Arah! and passes near the Door of Komalie.
I also found an interesting coincidence:
Drascir, Lion’s Arch and the Tombs of the Primeval Kings hold or held portals to the mist and are located on possible intersections of ley lines. There have been portals in other places too.
There should be another ley line crossing Lion’s Arch, any idea? other clues that may tell where are the ley lines? this is about trying to guess where the ley lines are, just for fun ^^.
If you find mistakes(I probably made some :p) feel free to point them out.
Here is an idea:
F3=> Your pet comes to your side while evading attacks. If you command your pet something else the effect(evade) and the mode(stay close to you) cancels.
Evade 1 second, effect cooldown: 8-10 seconds.
So if the boss is about to make a powerful attack you can tell the pet to evade and survive.
This could also leave devourers tunneling skill free for another skill.
If there were a giant horn near the ascalonian city we could confirm it’s Rin.

GW2 team has still not unlocked reserved names and now were missing out even more...
Posted by: versidia.4520
Some people are waiting for names reserved for they second GW accounts, They aren’t trying to steal any name.
The main problem is that we still expect to get our names soon, if we were given a time frame or told that the names wont be freed, we could know if we can move on or not. I’m waiting for the name change consumable, don’t know if I will be able to afford it (gem in-game prize is going up and my gold down).
However, I am still enjoying this game with my alts, what’s the point of buying a game and not play because a little detail?
(edited by versidia.4520)
I want to play my story, but I can’t right now since my name is reserved for another account
.
I have my name reserved for my brother’s account too, it’s important to me, people remember me for that name, and there are people who miss me :p.
I would like to know how long can we expect the names to be reserved, I’m looking forward to play the character I always wanted
.
