Been sitting around the camp and nothing. Contested Waypoint no event…this should be fixed if 6 months ago the problem was spotted… :x it’s not really enough that it just works sometimes out of RNG luck.
Hey there I was just about to talk about this issue now and I am glad I found a post about it already created!
Honestly, I run a sylvari female, and from ALL the new faces added to the kits I could only manage to use one of them, achieving a close to realistic look. I totally believe connotations like cool, creepy or any other alike aren’t the issue, the thing is that oversized eyes do not allow players to create a relatively realistic look on their sylvaries… And yes now you can turn to me and say the two most obvious things:
“1 use the sliders” – as mentioned above, it does not diminish the eyes enough for them to look realistic in therms of proportion!
“2 role a human if u want to be realistic” – and to this I answer"no way" .
Solving this issue might not be as simple to solve as a non modeling person like me would think, and I respect that, but honestly rather than solving the issues they can be avoided…all the faces on the vanilla character creation have eyes plausible to be enhanced to look like cute eyes or reduced to look like something a bit more realistic at some point! My question goes to why was it not an option to model the new faces the same way, allowing players to choose whatever look they wish?? It would only take the eyeballs to be smaller as a template, and then allow players to enhance or reduce them through sliders…right now you can not tell me that is what’s happening because as I move my slider the eyes go from enormous to very big and that’s it…
So ya, as much as I like the ideas around the new faces created I cannot use any of them because my character will look like a lunatic possessed plant…and what saddens me the most at some point is how this is only happening with females, which is my main sylvarie genre… Please just enhance the amount of size diminished through the sliders! XD or use this feedback when creating the next faces!
I honestly love this hairstyle because it happens that one of the sketches i made is very identical to it, and sure i’m using it on my Sylvari.
I never had the feeling my sylvari looked bald though… There’s only one thing i’m not really a fan of on the overall hairstyle, the leafs are awesome, but the finish line getting the flower colour, doesn’t feel right, even cos my sylvari is light green and i decided to create it after a rose like plant, so the leaf’s borders are red…i’d honestly have just taken a shade of the skin colour and darken it a bit on the leaf borders. But well it’s fine, i love it the way it is. Now, i’m not really gonna ask for a change because obviously, after something is released the devs can’t change it, unless it’s a beta test, pleasing every1 is impossible, and we have to accept that.
After all, and making a stupid comparison, there are ppl out there eventually saying gw2 sucks, still we have gw2 community loving it. Would you agree if the devs changed the whole game because those other guys out there are complainning while they won’t event play the game? I don’t think so.
(I merely went through efforts of writting this because i’v been cross reading the sylvari forums, and i see some ppl beeing way to demanding when it comes to some issues, and this hairstyle has been the main one…)
Now, to finish this post, and i hope miss Perry reads until this last paragraph, I’m thankfull for the new hairstyles, thank you for the efforts on trying to please us and building accurate content related to our wonderfull race. I really admire your job, and i honestly, at some point, wish i had as much knowledge as you do in order to come up with this awesome hairstyle 3d models, just so i could step out of the paper. But well that’s not my studies area, maybe someday i’ll learn.
Thank you!
" I Want it!!! I want it now Kristen!!! T_T " – My inner sylvari screaming
Nah, just to congratulate you for the awesome job on this, aswell as every other sylvari hairstyles I hope to see this hairstyle and face ingame one day, i was really glad to see such beautifull design come out of ur hands&imagination! I wasn’t able to assist the streaming live, but as i had some time to watch it, i just burst on YouTube and got this screens to post in here, so every1 around this thread can check the amazing designer we have our lovely race handed to.
Thank You!
So i just came up with this lilac inspired look today (amongst many others i’ve been sketching around, but are not really ready for display yet…I promise to post them as soon as i have some time, not like they are much of a professional work, but well it’s only ideas on paper.)
I know this one kinda gets to look similar to the pale tree’s shape, but the hair concept is diffrent, as a matter of fatc there IS a concept for this hair…So as we all know and can see, all sylvari hair have been themed around leafs and flowers have been avoided as much as possible, unfortunatly for those female sylvari players out there who wanted to look somehow beautiful, glamorous but somehow still capable of kicking arses (me included)
So this “lilac” hair would be, as you can see in the picture, a flower and obviously behave like one (wich is one of the reasons i believe Anet didn’t go for flower like hair on the sylvaries). So What do i mean “behave like one” basicly this hairstyle would be devided by two simples phases, daytime shape, and nightime shape…At daytime the hairstyle would look as it does in the picture below, just like an open flower. At nightime those leafs on the lower part of the flower would actually cover up the whole flower (as you can see on the little sketch on the upper part of the image). This would be a simulation of flower behaviour, for most of them close at night…So now you’ll ask about the glow, and well, in my concept, that glow would still happen, between the petals, even when those are covered, and the leaf would have some transparent shade, so that the glow could be seen on the leafs, but coming from the pettals…
Well such a big dream, and one i won’t see happening, not that soon anyways, but well dreaming wont hurt, and i like to put these out cheers hope you like it guys (i didn’t do a frontal sketch, i might update this sketch on a later post)
you never played perfect world, no?
well, i think, we could use alot more faces and hairstyles for some races here in gw2
I actually did, and i thought of it as i was writting that reply, and honestly?? doesn’t apply for i never really liked much PW char creation… as wide as they show their char creation to be, it’s as limited as many other games i’v played…Honestly of all i’v played until today there was only one game that actually had a great character creation (ofc taken PW and many other games by base) and it was Aion… Not saying PW char creation was bad, although it never really caught my eye, as many other games didn’t… Gw2 char creation has potential, but as i said and made clear on my previous replies, we would need more character costumization options, overall…And honestly in a game like GW2 where Anet promises us a unique experience as player and hero into the world, appearance matters should be considered as part of this unique experience…
But well i believe Anet has in mind some kind of enhancement of the character creation, afterall this is not the first, nor last time ppl will be talking about it and asking for more!
“it all depends on personal preference” that sums it all, no need to go over this issue…in my opinion a character rarelly looks outstanding when he’s just “born” into the world
Although i agree we need more character costumization…as they added glow colours, ear options they cut on the hairstyles…it’s such a pitty cos there’s so much pottential on sylvari for some nice hairstyles…i came up with some sketches on the thread i linked, and i made some more meanwhile, i’ll upload them soon
Well, i actually would like to have more character costumization, though i can’t agree when u say it doesn’t let you create an oustanding character…
- First of all, no character in any MMO is outstanding by itself so the ratings of awesomness upon entering the world with a brand new character are…low?! What may eventually make your character outstanding at some point is the combination between what you’v created and the armor you wear upon it, and well, actually if u combine the several armors available throughout gw2, u may get an oustanding, or at least really nice look…
- My second thought on this matter is as simple as this question “What races do you think, upon character creation, can guarantee you an awesome/outstanding character?”
So this is what i didn’t agree with, on all u talked about…Now the cultural armor colour beeing similar to your skin colour…I kinda understand what Anet tried to do, they wanted the build an armor that was more than an armor (and since they had that opportunity, why not?)…they clearly wanted to design cultural armor, to be more of an extention of one’s body, then a layover. Therefore the colour is similar to the skin colour…Sometimes this is not so pleasent, for some ppl don’t want this “body extention” effect to happen at all, and actually there should be an option to change this colour, on that i agree with you…
About the character costumization and new hairstyles, there’s a quite long thread about this issue, where Kristen Perry has given us the pleasure of some answers and possible tips for the future, check it in here
And that’s it…enjoy your sylvari, and lets hope we get more character costumization soon
(edited by vgomes.7380)
Screenshot or it didn’t happen :P (kidding, but hoenstly, whenever you make a comment like this one attach some screenshots, so it’s clearer what problem ur talking about…although i understood it, but never had that prob with my leaf buddies )
Last time i checkd this was working perfectly, i doubt it gone wrong meanwhile…thing is, mainly on pvp, many enemies can breakthrough and annulate its effect, it’s not rlly a bug
Hum your theory seems amazingly consistent according to all the information we’v been provided when it comes to sylvari, and the jungle dragon.
Actually i believe this could be one of the explanations for the Sylvari apparition, as well as an explanation for the Nightmare Court’s thirst for Nightmares, and the introductory dream/nightmare every sylvari faces.
Still how would you explain Wyld Hunts for example!? Those are shown within the dream, and basicly they come true as an image of the dream you, as a newborn, had. Killing Zaithan is your Wyld Hunt as a Sylvari player, for you dreamed with a dragon wich was a product of (now following the lore and relating it to your theory) the poison inflicted on your pod, by the nightmare court.
The point i’m trying to make is:
- Do you consider the idea of “Wyld Hunt” something the mother tree came up with to give a purpose to her children to live in Tyria with a specific goal?
- Or would these Wyld Hunts exist even if Sylvari were under the dragon’s control, but they would have diffrent goals, like irradicating the races of Tyria, pretty much like Zaithan minions?!
Second point i’m making here is the possible existance of other Groves, and now to empower your theory…We’v seen Malyck arrive to Maguuma Jungle, not knowing where he’d come from, who he was and what the pale tree was. Malyck (the Harbinger) could be himself a proof and a way to support this theory! If there are other groves, what can assure us that they aren’t beeing raised by the influence of Mordremoth or one of his champions?
Honestly Malyck apparition is one that has always buggd me, i don’t believe Anet would’v just made him because they wanted to create an hypothetical grove…This could be the reason, a simple hint, but strong enough to support such a theory.
Third point i wanna make… when it comes to the Nightmare Court, idk wether they actually are what the Dragon would’v imagined, because honestly, the Nightmare Court are Dream made Sylvaries that have after turned to this evil Nature…It makes sense that Mordremoth would’v imagined his minios beeing like the Nightmare Court, but those have once been affected by the dream one way or another and i believe that would’v changed the way Nightmare is experienced by those sylvari in particular. The main reason that brings me to this belief is that Nightmare Courtiers are vilains, but they are not the typical vilains, they are sofisticated, and somehow manage to show some mercy before they strike (this concerns to Court recruitment matters mainly) and they always mix up their own feelings upon their matters. I would imagine The Nightmare of Mordremoth something more brutal and devastating, for Sylvari are a 20 year old race on Tyria, the world of feelings and sensations, is something they had never experienced, and i honestly doubt Mordremoth would’v wanted them to experience these at all, they are the perfect killing machines, they can live without showing feelings or obey any goals, besides those they are persuaded to…
Well this was my view over ur theory, and what i haven’t mentioned means simply that you have convinced me, and made ur theory credible (to me at least). Good job on coming up with this, and i thank you for that, I’m a Sylvari player and their purpose on the world, apparition and roots are soemthign that i’m really curious about… Thinking about it and discussing ideas is the best way to let out all this thoughts i’v been having aswell :P
Cheers!
I actually never liked the dance until i saw those 2 doing it! O.O it’s so cute!!!
I started my new character today, a mesmer named Blaeyn. (Blaine)
I give u 9/10 really like your name, and really goes with some of the sylvari names around, like Caithe, it’s a really simple name, but at some point sounds and looks as unique as it is!
(I’ll just ask how did u come up with that name, and why did u pick it above any others?? probably u should answer as pm or edit ur post with this info [if u want to do it ofc], not to mess this thread logic)
My character name’s Leafëa [spell: Leaf – ee – ah]
How/Why: at first i thought i should pick some name like the one i rated, something simple but that looked like an “actual” name, but than i started thinking of the race i was rolling, and as a Sylvari i wanted something i could identify my character with. As i wanted her to have a more leafy look than flowerish, i decided to go for a name that sounded like “leaf” but had some kind of elven sound around it…Than i pickd the well known “…iel” finishing formula from elven names and added to the word Leaf, but Leafiel sounded weird, so i decided to change it a bit and went for the “ëa”
That’s how i came up with it :P
(honestly i thought at some point that having the word Leaf on my name would make it to obvious to what i was refering as i was rolling a Sylvari, but it was kinda funny that throughout my months of playing ppl rarely get to call me Leaf or notice the word’s even there, otherwise ppl worry about spelling the whole word right, and tend to call me Lea xD, so ya, i’m rather satisfied on how obvious the name’s for me, but not for everyone )
I understand the use of those Languages for first (and who knows if not only) to be dubbed. Usually French, Spanish and German people have clients set for their own language, it’s not really a new thing for any1…
Although i hereby come revive this post cause yesterday i downloaded the french language voices pack, and honestly, i wish i understood French like i did when i was in a french speaking country, for i would, without a doubt, use that voice pack! I mean, idk what voice actors u guys got, but they were quite excelent, even not understanding much of what they said, the interpretation was excellent.
Now, Usually Portuguese (EU) dubs are very good, even sometimes considered the best (like the case of Dragon Ball series, and some(many) Disney Movies), so why not eventually think, of adding a new pack of languages including Portuguese? It’s not like i don’t understand English, i can get along with it very well, but i’m very curious to know how would GW2 sound in Portuguese!
But ya, it’s kinda expensive getting the voice actors, recording and making a new pack, and you guys have alot of stuff going on…still it’s a suggestion, maybe one day, if u realize u’d like to have more voice packs, consider this!
(just to make it clear to any Brazillians who read this, i didn’t mention Brazillian Portuguese, for one main reason, i have never really watched many movies or series dubbed to Portuguese (BR) except for AristoCats, so I lack of information on this matter to even writte much about it nothing ’gainst u guys
)
And sorry for bumping and old topic, but this came to my head yesterday and i really wanted to check out posts on this, not to create a new one
(edited by vgomes.7380)
This actually helpd me completing the T4 as a Ranger solo…(wasn’t able to record it though cause overwolf had some weird problem). Cheers for the tips.
Still i can’t let this pass without saying, the scaling of this dungeon when it’s done by a group (any size group, i’v tried them all) is R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S… With all the respect i have for Anet and your work guys, cmon wth was that? i tried it over 15 times (t4) and honestly? it’s not the lack of tactics, we’v tried plenty…it’s not the group composition problem, i’v had all kind of groups (and this shouldn’t even be a point to mention, since EVERY dungeon is promissed to be doable by any group). Dude the first time i did this i could only think of Twilight Arbor path fw/up’s last boss! That’s Impossibru lvl, aswell as this is!
Now I’m not saying i would love this to be easy peasy, tank and spank…but well if u wanna make something hard, don’t make it hard by spawning a sh*#ton of mobs that stun u endlessly. Give us a specific tactic to think about, it doesnt even have to be obvious, but cmon…it has to be at least possible!…
Well anyways, cheers for this tip, it kinda helps some professions through, and Anet i’m not raging at you guys, i wouldn’t do that, i love this game and all u’v done for us gamers…it’s just that, this specific thing, made me kinda sad, and i’m not the only one…
I was in the Fields of Ruin today and couldn’t help but notice this really awesome hairstyle! It’s my first time seeing it. It’s so elegant >w<. I would love to use it on my sylvari mesmer ^^.
I see these piece more of an armor set, some other Sylvari around tyria have it and it always shows up with the same bark like armor, wich i believe is a set, as said in the reply above, we haven’t seen yet…Although i’m starving to have it, cuse it sure looks awesome, elegant and at the same time, as it’s made of wood, it looks strong/resistant.
Love it…and well that’s not the only Sylvari armor around tyria we don’t have access to as players…there are tons of character on the Grove wearing pieces of armor that look really nice and we can’t use them, although i understand why, for some models look like a specific prototype for future improvements :P
They are all grown as saplings from the pale tree, and seeing that they are a young race we don’t know if there may be other ‘trees’ capable of producing Sylvari or if as Sylvari age they will implant and be able to produce ‘spores’ or seedlings of their own.
Well my dear fellow, i agree with all you’v said except for i can’t let this bit excape…
In sylvari story, if you pick the ventari’s tablet teaching “Where life goes, so too, should you” you’ll be leaded to a sylvari called Malyck (the Harbinger named after the nightmare court). This guy has no memorie of where he was born, but at a certain point u get to understand that he was not born from the pale tree, so Anet kind of gave us a hint on the possible existance of other Trees/Groves around Tyria, who knows if someday they’ll be introduced?! I would love to see another grove, not ruled by Ventari’s tablet, with some other ways of living, who knows, maybe like the Soundless
Hey there
Attending to your request i went on the character creation panel to check how i could help, and i came up with a very similar (if not equal) model to the one you want.
The physique/bodyfeatures is: upper line 5th body
The skin colour is: Driftwood
The skin pattern is: None
The hair colour is: Fern
The eye colour is: Black
The glow colour, is not something i would’v been able to guess by the picture but my suggestions are:
- If you wanna go for a Red/Pink glow i would advise you to choose Rosette or Blush glows, and lower the level by a little, that’d make it look more natural with the skin and hair base colours and the sub colours (like the ear light pink/orange shade)
- If you wanna go for a Green/Yellow glow i would advise you to choose Sour or Squash for those fit perfectly the base colours of the preset.
- If you wanna go for a Purple/Blue glow i would advise you to choose Riverlet or Dusky, cause even though they look a little bit out of the colour scheeme they may still look nice. (although this weren’t my favourite tries tbh)
EDIT I’v checkd the ingame model of the nightmare court sylvari you’r trying to remake, and the glow colour actually showed up, and it’s one between Seafoam/River/Riverlet all of em kind of blue’ish green colours, just pick one of them depending on the intensity you want, the one i found more similar to the model was River, but well just pick it up yourself ^^ EDIT
I’ll leave some attachments so you can check for yourself
Hope it helped
(edited by vgomes.7380)
So i decided i would post my baby’s photo, i present to you Leafëa, my lovely elementalist
Also am I the only one who looks at Vgomes’ awesome cotton afro and sees http://static.bbc.co.uk/history/img/ic/640/images/resources/people/elizabeth_i.jpg ?
Now that you mention it…I actually never thought of that as an inspiration, but it can aswell be interpreted that way, since the cotton has that brown kind of leaves that on the hairs i drew looks like a crown or something xD
I have 3 sylvari, the faces i’m using on my females are #4 #5 and on my male i’m using #4
Just wondering if there is a way to stop my t2 heavy chestpiece from glowing, I don’t like the glow. Will turning down characters normal body glow work?
I’m not entirely sure if the t3 light armor (dryad) should have glows or not, but my character has dryad armor and no natural glow (i turned it off for none of the colours pleased me) and her armor doesn’t glow at all…so ya, that may be an option, removing your character glow, even cause i don’t believe it would make much sense to put a glow on ur armor according to the dyes (since u wouldn’t have natural one)…
Hope it helped
So i managed to come up with some more concepts, some based on requests i’v seen around, some just came out of my mind :P hope you guys like em, if u wanna check those in detail go to my deviantart page
As i said be4, i’m not rlly great at digital painting, so ya it’s rlly sketchy, still u get the idea :P
Major disclaimer: no promises, no schedule, etc… But if you were daydreaming about what you personally want for your sylvari, what would it be? :} What would its presence feel like? What style? What materials?
I rlly wanted my character to have an hairstyle like the jasmine braid on the atachment (last drawing)…she would look rlly nice with that
(edited by vgomes.7380)
Actually I designed the Pale Tree’s avatar loosely after the Nefertiti bust than anything, as it’s a great silhouette for Important PersonTM. The concept behind the Pale Tree Avatar was in creating a symbol between the Tree and the Fruit (sylvari). What better conduit than the Flower? :}
As for the face, it was designed to work with the hair, making the whole head one big blossom. My intentions were to create stately features (cheek and jaw structure) with big, big eyes. I didn’t even know to look for Erykah, but to tell you the truth, she really does look like her. Especially the mouth structure. Heh. Funny that.
Actually this is extremly interesting for i had never though that egyptian bases could’v been used to create the pale tree…though now you reveal that, it makes sense to me Thank you for sharing, and congratz on the amazing job, the pale tree is for sure one of my fav Sylvari, she’s so beautiful
. And ya she does looks like my dear Erykah
Since you shared that information, i’m gonna try my luck and ask you a question directly (hope you answer
) Most of Sylvari hairstyles are themed after plants, exept for the thorns and the fungus, and all those plants seem to be “non tropical”. Sylvari are actually born in Caledon Forest, so it makes sense that things go that way, but would it be possible in the future for them to have some influence of Maguman Jungle when it comes to their Costumisation? I don’t know, some more exotic looks, something close to the palm tree pony drawing i posted up there? i think that would be very nice
(edited by vgomes.7380)
So i decided to start posting some sketches i’v made, i’v quick painted em even cause i can’t rlly digital paint, it’s just so the diffrent “materials” were easier to tell from one another a Palm Tree Pony, and a Flowery Long Hair
Hope you like it :P more will come meanwhile, i rlly enjoyd drawing those
Petal-y hair would be very nice. I like the Pale Tree’s hair. She reminds me of Erykah Badu.
Lawl first time i saw the pale tree that was exactly what i thought, Erykah Badu all the way! even her face is so similar! (i edited some images, check the atachments x) )
So the main reason i searched for this post (and gladly found it) is beacuse i came to understand i can role no other race but sylvari (shame on me) XD so my 3 characters are sylvari, and i love them alot. I’m pretty happy with the character costumization i’v had until now, but i feel like if i had more face options and more hairstyles i would be able to feel more unique towards other sylvari…(and well isn’t gw2 all about creating a unique character/path and make a diffrence in tyria?!)
I don’t think the costumization set that was released at first is any bad, for the vanila version, but well i really think Anet’ll have to come out with some new concepts for the next expansion or so.
So i’v been thinking about this lately, with the short time i have, but i’v been able to draw some sketches of Sylvari hairstyles that could look cool ingame…I’m not uploading them just now, but i’m hearby promissing to upload them as soon as i draw some more (no promisses of perfect drawings, but well u’ll get the idea). I’ll not be drawing em faces just yet, but i might.
Basicly what i’m here to ask is for you Sylvari lovers to give me some ideas on what kind of hairstyles would you like to see, and +/- how do you idealize them?? something like Reivaxe did:
YES, they have a gold-mine of a concept here for this race but it’s soo … limited.
Hairstyles they could use!
Cotton Bloom head for Afro
Thick Vines for dreads/ mid sized ones for curly or long non-dread styled hair
Grass for buzz cuts/ short hair
Pig-tails that are actually just two large blooming flowers
Bulbs that can be buns.
Thorn bush branches for Mohawks/ dreads again
Aloe Leaf hair
You can also take fruit as an example. Berries Bush Branches.
By then i’ll have some more ideas to put on paper :) ^^
Don’t let this post die, i rlly think there are some quite nice ideas beeing discussed over here, those could give Anet some hints! :)
Cya soon!
Hey there people!
This topic is about a bug happening around Dengatl Grounds in Caledon Forest, but to explain the bug i have to say some things that may be considered spoilers…so you were warned :P
I don’t know if you are aware of a secret area, just inside Dengatl Grounds, in Caledon Forest. Hylek inhabit the place and in fact there’s a great door to somewhere, that can be opened if the boulders standing around the place are thrown at the drums around the door. The place is filled with veterans and stuff, but there’s a part of the “mini-dungeon” where you have to place some tears over stones to form a pattern, in order to light torches, so ou can open a door…the results to this combination are revealed in the big statue on the cave. The buggd part is here, there are 4 torches to light, but only one combination revealed, wich means only one torch can be activated. In this video you can see that 4 combinations are revealed, but unfortunatly that’s not happening at all.
Note: The friend i did this with, contacted with his friends standing in the underworld server and it seems to be working there, we are on far shiverpeaks, maybe there’s a chance for this to be a server bug?!

Weapons:
Two-Handed Weapons
Staff —> Healing/Signing targeted areas/Druid Itself (smaller range, bigger amount of healing/longer Sign duration); Lower damage.
Shortbow —> Control focused attacks; less damage dealt; summons a spirit animal as a guardian for a short time.
Main-Hand Weapons
Scepter —> Healing/Signing happens around the target being attacked (lower areas, higher amount of heals/lower sign duration, higher number of signs attributed at once); Lower damage.
Sickle —> Healing/Signing is applied only and directly to the druid throughout its damaging skills; Damage dealt is bigger.
Off-Hand Weapons
Dagger —> Spells focused on Signing areas around the Druid. Summons spirit animal as guardian for a short time (helps signing).
Focus —> Spells focused on Healing areas around the Druid. Summons spirit animal as guardian for a short time (helps healing).
Torch —> Spells focused on Damaging areas around the Druid. Summons spirit animal as guardian for a short time (helps attacking).
Underwater Weapons
Spear —> Healing/Signing is applied only and directly to the druid throughout its damaging skills; Damage dealt is lower, more control spells.
Traits:
Winter (Power, Toughness)
—> Focusing on the Sickle, Torch.
Spring (Healing Power, Precision)
—> Focusing on the Scepter, Staff. Only Regeneration can be done once you access this path.
Summer (Concentration, Compassion)
—> Focusing on Sickle, Dagger, Focus. Only Signing can be done once you access this path
Autumn (Malice, Vitality)
—> Focusing on Sickle, Shortbow, Torch.
Wild (Precision, Prowess)
—> Focusing on spirit guardians.
Druid starts and keeps until endgame two base skills, stance like , the seasons combination a druid can make. (It basicly works like elementalists, but Druids would only have 2 attunement and they could only be attuned to 2 difrent seasons/paths, and the stat changes, spells second effects would be applied attending to the paths beeing used). Spring and Summer can’t be used at the same time, same stands for Winter and Autumn.
(this still needs to be completed with some info, feel free to give suggestions and even complete it with your ideas, i’ll not have much time to compose it at once.)

Light – Druid
Lore Summary: As the Sylvari were born into the world, so was their passion and devotion to nature. Using their deep connections to the roots of the world and its elements they came across new spells and skills. These needed studying before they could be spread and thought to everyone, for nature isn’t only creation but it bares destruction as well.
After all the years, learning how to control this nature cycles, Sylvari who were chosen to do so, found out that as the nature works in cycles, so does her magic. No healing may be done without further harm, nor should pain be inflicted without regeneration.
Although this cyclic properties, and rooted magical laws, the Sylvari found a way to conduct each of the power sources to the desirable targets, using nature not only to harm foes, but as well to heal allies.
After all the studies released around this new type of magic, Sylvari found out that not only it could be used from a source existing inside of its caster but as well throughout external sources.
Druids were able to regenerate/strike down its targets not only from their inside, but from the targets natural power source as well! This discovery brought to the druids new spells as well as new ways of using the spells they had found out already. Growth or destruction wasn’t now something restricted to one target, but it could be focused on the area all around that target.
Playstyle Summary: Druids embrace nature using it on a particular way. They’ve mastered the nature cycles and use them now to inflict damage or regenerate wounds. Their capability to use the targets inside energy provided the Druids an extensive use of wide area covering spells. Although these spells could only bring regeneration, for the energy created inside the target to destroy it could only serve that purpose as long as there was still a shred of life inside it, as the target dies the magic used to kill it can only regenerate the surrounding allies, serving this way the cycles of nature.
In order to guarantee its survivability druids can also canalize this cyclic energy inside their body for self-regeneration.
Profession Mechanics: Druids reveal a deep supportive side. This is not mandatory, but it will be one of the big purposes a Druid exists for.
Inflicting damage can be one of the mastered abilities but that will cause some cyclic reaction linked tightly to a supportive role. It’s up to the druid to choose, whether its pain is turned to regeneration, blesses its allies with boons or controls the victims. Still none of these can be forgotten, for one will be preserved and applied. Although this doesn’t mean that the Druid will have its damage role compromised. Damage dealt by a druid can be increased, by sacrificing the amount of healing/boons created, and depending on the trait the druid chooses to be attached to. Although control skills will be constantly present within the Druid’s damage build (as well as summoning temporary animals from the wilderness to help).
Supportive purposes may be accomplished with this profession in two different ways, those are Regenerating or Signing.
Depending not only on the weapons used, but on the trait attached to, a Druid may use regenerating power in different ways. A Druid may use smaller portions of damage inflicted to cause waves of healing around the target, or store the targets energy and use it to heal himself. As well as the druid may use its target energy to heal he may use its own too, facing bigger cool downs on the skills as well as a closer range in exchange for wider healing areas and bigger amounts of regenerated health.
In order to profit from Signing attribution a druid has to give up on its Regenerating powers, for nature power is limited and only one of the supportive schools can be mastered. Signing is a path for those who like to surround their selves and their allies with boons/signs. These come in all different shapes and purposes. They can be reached, as well as regeneration, through the target energy or through the druids own energy, and with the same side effects for each of these. Although depending on the spell and weapon used, the signs applied may be different. Some will protect your allies, some will boost the damage they deal, it’s up to the Druid’s will.

If i had to pick three they would be without any doubt:
- Skritt – it’s not that common to see rat races as playable and i think it can be so fun, the only game featuring a rat race i’v seen, was warhammer with the Skaven, but personally i prefer Skritt, they look less vicious, and the way their community works is very interesting.
(although i can’t support the idea of playing with 3 Skritts at the same time...maybe give them a bonus attending to the number of skritts around you or something) - Centaur – i’v been dreaming with the day i could play an mmo with a Centaur! But it’s not very likely to happen because well, Centaurs would be a problem to fit in any game for several reasons. The main one that comes to my mind is the running speed…after all we can’t ignore they’re half horse, so they run faster then any other race…and this could be a problem in pvp matters i guess…
- Tengu – I love this race, and well it’s not very likely to have a humanoid-bird race on mmo’s. I’v seen them as npc’s in some (none of them pleased me as the Tengu…), but never as a playable… I would be excited to see Tengu’s as a playable race in fact!
Those are my top 3 but i think Quaggan would be a nice one to be implemented, alongside with a fantastic underwater map, with coral reefs and all that underwater stuff. (And i got reminded of these because yesterday while playing i actually looked at how Quaggan swimming animation looks, and it’s quite awesome!)
I recently started to play and well sylvari are by far my fav race till now, still looking forward to explore the other ones more deeply.
Anyways, i had quite some issues picking a name that i liked and made sense aswell…because as refered for the other races there’s more of a “pattern” when it comes to names, the sylvari haven’t got one as far as i’v been seeing. You have Caithe wich is a ordinary name and then you have something like Traeherne wich isn’t that ordinary, and sounds more like a sylvari name in my opinion.
Attending to the race i choose i wanted to pick a name that kind of sounded like nature or plants, and after a several already taken names, I found one that sounded like i wanted and was available, and it’s Leafëa. I’m quite happy with it ^^
Hum this thread deserves some attention i’ll keep up to date, i’m liking the suggestions around here, even though i couldn’t get into the game yet, these sound quite nice, and i think they would fit in!
(except for the Dragoon mount part, wich would require a General mount implementation, and a mount-combat style, or something like that, wich i’m not opposed to but i don’t see it happen any soon…)
To be honest i haven’t had time to read the whole information, and suggestions you’v put in here, i’v only read about the professions, and main function. Since i haven’t played much i can’t have a nice point of view about skills and weapons, cause i have no idea of what i would feel like is missing.
Anyways i would love to see some profession that had its gaming style based around supporting mostly…i know how hybrid classes are in GW2 that’s what i love so much about it, but well, “composing” a profession that can fill all role types but have a strong root on supporting skills like buffs, healing, cleansing, and so on, wouldn’t probably be that hard, and i bet alot of people would be excited to see it…
I’m looking forward to solve my pc issues so i can play more, and maybe by then i’ll suggest something like this as well as i’ll try to relate it to the storyline, wich i think is awesome!
