I think ticket should be given at level 48.

lol why cause you have 48 unlocked? why not just keep it random like it is and instead of a weapon drop a ticket 20-30 is X chance 31-40 is an increased chance 41+ increase the chance etc..

Id love some kinda of change I’ve had 4 fractal weapons drop and 0 usable by my character.

Our reactions to farming nerfs

To achieve certain in this game items requires you to farm/grind there’s no way around that. Pick almost any exotic item/legendary/ascended item time(running the areas they drops from over and over), and luck (RNG akittens Finest) is required. Now this time is split between several things, depending on the player itself. We had fractals they used to be a great place to play and farm at the same time that got axed, from what it used to be imo. Orr/malchor’s leap have been axed as well as the event spawn rates, drops are bleah most times for the effort put in. That’s the reason CoF is so popular 1g in 5-10min based on your group, that’s not hard math to figure out if your going after an item/materials. But like people said its very mind numbing.. Arah a very cool area I think, the runs take somewhere between 1hr-2hrs based on the path you select yet most times the rewards are no where near what you get from a CoF run in 5-10 min. This is where I also feel there is a disconnect from Anet and its players, they say they don’t want you to farm etc. Yet the content that is slightly harder and way more time consuming gives you much less then a 5-10 min instance.

Next part to craft a legendary you need 2000 T6 mats at a minimum(hello that has grind/farm written all over it). Plus all the other parts that are required are also a grind even when there was some of these farming spots. In my humble opinion the stuff worth getting in this game requires extreme luck, rolling the TP game, or grinding for gold/mats. I believe they need to add more end game type content to appeal to a broader part of its player base and find a way to increase certain in game drops to give people something to work towards and at the same time keep the game enjoyable to both the casual gamer and the hardcore gamer who wants a gear grind. At this point I feel bad for any new player trying to make a legendary and having to collect all these T6 mats with the way they drop now. Because it’s going to be a grind for them.

For me, life begins at 80.

First, decide what you want to do. Are you going to focus on PvE or WvW or both (PvP doesn’t matter because you can do it anytime.). I do WvW, I think end game PvE is dungeon running.

Second, decide on your end game build. Decide what items you need for that build. Get those items.

Do what you planned until you are sick of it. Then do the other.

Agree with this I have 1 lvl 80 and I play a balance of PvE WvW and sometime PvP. I set a goal to get a legendary and just recently hit it now I am working on my 2nd. I also enjoy helping newer players so they can enjoy this game as well.

Why is Risk vs Reward so Skewed?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: void.6705

void.6705

Citadel of Flame path 1 is much easier, faster and more rewarding than level 40+ fractals. Jumping into a world boss and being rewarded with rares is risk free. Literally risk free. I haven’t seen any of these events fail. Not once.

Why is this? I don’t understand the design philosophy. Could someone kindly explain this to me? It’s giving me a headache.

To appease the unskilled and unwashed masses. Simple as that.

Considering that very few people are capable of doing 30+ Fractals, they complained that it wasn’t fair that all of us Fractal enthusiasts were getting all the good loot. Remember many patches ago when we’d get about 6-8 rares AND 2-3 exotics for every 30+ run? Yeah, gone are those days. Now, only the easy content gets easier and more rewarding as ANET ninja nerfs all the hard content.

pretty much spot on, if you ask me

I know right, shame on me and thousands others who enjoyed playing this game because we like to farm.

I think you misunderstand. The point isn’t that “farming is bad”, it’s that “farming the same content repeatedly because it’s a significantly better farming spot than X or Y or Z is bad”.

I don’t think you read my original post. Farming will always be in MMOs and no matter what you do, players will find the next best thing.

Here’s pretty much the whole chain of events that farmers have gone through (of course cof1 has been stable the whole day)

-plinx
-southern grub farm (only a few weeks)
-shelt/pen
-west grub farm
-Malchor farm
-Colonnade farm (only a few days)

farmers always go to the next best thing. After Colonnade, I know the next best place to farm.

This is why I suggest Arenanet to make the whole map reward loot to your level 100% of the time. Because then players and their guilds can choose to spread out across the world to farm the events they want.

And if one event gets too saturated with players that make it difficult to tag mobs? Then I can take my party somewhere else and still be rewarded loot

Trying to get rid of farming in an MMO is just as useless as trying to get rid of zergs in WvW

I don’t get how they want people to get certain things in game that require 250+ of certain items and not just legendary weapons other weapons as well without some sort of farming/grinding. Only reason I farmed certain areas was to help close the gap on certain material that is needed for these items. MMO’s will always have some sort of grind if you want more exotic eq. I have no idea what they are thinking about farming zones and why they are so against it.

A Casually Fading Game

Because basing difficulty of the game on a very tiny (even if equally loud) minority that will finish any content in hours anyway, and then cry there’s no endgame is not really a good strategy in a game that was advertised as catering to casuals.

Don’t lump us all together.
I played Gw1 for 7 years because it was challenging. If it was only Prophecies with no expansions, I would have still played it for years. Prophecies had no end game (unless you count PvP)
Though it had more expansions, I still went back and re-played Prophecies many times, played it more than other expansions.

Challenging content can be friendly to casuals. I was a casual for 2-3 years in Gw1.
Casual as in “limited time to play”, not “bad player”.
Definitely wasn’t that bad a player, I started with a domination mesmer in PvE, right from the start I made a mesmer build like you’d see in a top rated GvG (PvP) match. And it was my first online RPG!

See my signature, “Hard mode for everyone”.

Because if there was challenging content most people would complain and it would be nerfed anyway

Yeah, if by “challenging” you mean it takes 3 hours to do because monsters have 1000,000,000 HP and hit for 19,000 damage.
But real challenging content? I think people would like it, so long as they are introduced to the challenging concepts slowly through the game, so they’re well prepared for harder content.

Biggest issue I think they would have would be their reward system, most people me included when it comes to rewards do what makes sense. Running CoF p1 as simple as it is offers a greater reward then a Dungeon like Arah. That all based on time not content. CoF p1 6-10min per run, Arah 1-2 hrs.. Once Anet decides to make the rewards equal the time you might see more people in other dungeons.. When I run a FoTM I know that has much more RNG in it but that hurts to doing a 30 and getting 1 total rare.. but we get a chance at a skin, relics and a pristine relic. Hope this makes sense

Pen/Shelt wasnt broken? well it did break at times but overall they nerfed the drops?

There was also a spot in Malchors where 3-4 mobs would run to the same area that got nerfed as well.

It’s a trend they have wiped out most areas people went to farm materials or cash outside of dungeons

when an unpopular measure is taken without any information, than it becomes suspicious. This was bound to fall ill with most in terms of honesty.

Most changes are either announced, or at least reflected in some patch notes or update post at the news section.

This one wasn’t. Heck, it wasn’t even mentioned untill players sort of pointed at it.

That’s asking for drama and accusations.

Even if it was coincidence, than it would have been better to mention it just to avoid the suspicion.

Change the game the way you see fit. People will play or not.
But you might want to do it less sneaky, or at least ‘less prone to misinterpretation because of coincidence’

Fractal Tickets

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Because Fractals were implemented to be a time sink. By giving out tickets instead of relying on rng, this would defeat part of the purpose of Fractals. Players don’t like it, but it’s effective at keeping people in game.

Possibly very true but it also keeps many people away

It’s definitely a two edged sword. The devs have to balance frustration versus reward and it’s a place where metrics prove to be a degree more valuable than player feedback, much the same way as putting rewards in rng chests and the mystic toilet. Probably one of the only ways to actually change this would be to have a substantial amount of players to quit running fractals or quit buying rng boxes. Don’t know if the players will ever be organized enough for something like that to happen though.

very true we did a 30 last night whole run 1 rare, hello RNG lol at this point FoTM is all about the relics since I need 34 skill points to make my legendary.

You will never get a legendary. Heck most of us struggle to even get exotics (chuckle away trolls, I really don’t care anymore). You will not see most dungeons. I’ve never been beyond AC story and I’m pretty sure alot of others haven’t either. You can’t solo them. Don’t even tell me to join a guild—my ex-guild was almost at max capacity and never help anyone. Never even been to WvW – gear not good enough. Typical. Most players could care less if you ask for help if you can’t do speed clears—because your obviously a noob. After making level 80, I had a whopping 80 silver.Thx ANET for even taking any earnings to simply travel, repair and AH cut. Perhaps you had more—just my personal experience. The game is fun from a general sense, but we get zero rewards for having fun. Just my humble opinion. Thank goodness this game is not WoW, where no-mater how much they cry and patch, gear > skill. The one thing ANET did right with GW2 in sPvP.I usually score top 3 on any given hot-join PvP. I guess the wacked glory system is it. Period. I still detest the cowards in sPVP who never face 1v1 and run away at the slightest hint of losing…you know who you are. I really don’t understand who this game caters to, and this is my second round trying to enjoy GW2.

A sad, sad GW1 Player

If you ever need help getting a dungeon run send me a pm in game and I will assist you in anyway possible.. people shouldn’t have issues finding dungeon runs etc.. I am on est after 8pm most nights..

Another thread claiming a majority view point from a personal view point.

Actually the statement that a greater amount of people spend a greater amount of their time doing WvW, pvp, and dungeons over the temporary content I would take as a true statement. I have no metrics available to back this up, but from statements I read on the forums and from participation I see in game this would seem to be true.

I spent a lot of time doing molten faculty when it was up..

but would you spend the time in southsun doing things over and over if there weren’t any of the MF or Gold Buffs?

A good amount of people did spend a great amount of time in the MWF, but were there an equal or greater amount of people also doing other things such as pvp, wvw, other dungeons, leveling, farming world events, farming orr, doing guild missions, or other permanent parts of the game?

If the gold find or magic find bonus were not a part of Southsun, no I would not have spent as much time there as I did. Which has only been maybe a total of eight hours actual game time.

Agreed in a game with this many people no idea the exact number but whern you have several friends in different overflows it shows an influx in people to the zone.. But on average I would think most people spend there time in WvW, PvP or PvE like you stated, I think ANet knows this and thats why you are seeing the boost to MF and Gold for this event to see if it generates a greater sustained interest.

There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”

Really is that the attitude from you guys WHO CARES? we care the people that play the game care… You state that you don’t want a grind yet certain items that are needed in mass require a grind…. Great kittening response from a “Game Admin”

I have a hard time believing they nerfed this area due to bots, you would think if they thought or knew they had bots in the area they would have some sort of program to monitor what each account does in there game.

I know very little about bots but from what i looked up they run a pretty static program and would almost do the same thing every time. If that is true look for those kind of things and ban those accounts where you see that happening.

But someone posted earlier saying something that kinda made sense as well, Anet and whoever else runs the show are here to generate money and by reducing the farming they think they are increasing gem sales.

Often those who use bots also are the same people who steal accounts. All you’d be doing by banning the bots is to make them cycle through the stolen accounts faster. It’s not really a solution.

Gotcha, didn’t even think about that…

I’ve been to malchor’s leap today to get the farmers away from there. What kind of impression do you think you give a new player when he goes to finish a temple event to buy his first ever pair of exotics and gets chased away by people swearing at him, because they want the event not completed and the temple not open so that they could continue getting sweet lootz?
If you want to farm go and do it in places where it doesn’t affect other players or ruin our world. Like the easy to run dungeon paths or go and kill mobs somewhere in the open world. Do not stop events from progressing and do not try to stop people completing them.

Now there’s close to 20 events in the world that give you a guaranteed rare (see ecto and yellow prices – those are falling because of easy to get rares and rewarding world events) the same events have a high chance to drop a unique exotic or a precursor.

Mitra the farmers couldn’t stop people from running events why do you continue to say that? And anyone at the lyssa temple isn’t a new player buy that point..

Now is yelling at another player because they want to do an event is wrong I will agree there but some of the things you said are really blown out of proportion.

Why can’t they leave some of these places in? Spend more time fixing other content that needs a boost not removing a farm spot that people go to generate cash to enjoy the game!

Because in this particular case, it prevented people from opening a temple they may have wanted. Nice that people want to farm but not at other people’s expense.

if u wanted to do the event take down the walls not like players can stop you its not WvW

It’s a lot harder if you’re solo. And of course as soon as you try it, people start yelling at you…for some people that’s fine. There have been several comments in various threads about people who have been bad-mouthed because they tried to do the chain.

Most of them walk away. You might continue to do it anyway, but it annoys a lot of people.

Agreed if your there to do the event I would be kitten ed if people yelled at me for doing an event while they wanted to farm. But that’s really isn’t why this was changed and I think we all know that. Only time I would see people yell is when people would kill walls on purpose and leave and not do the event or just come in to ruin the farm.

New Legendaries / Rework

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

As I said, the effort to complete this scavenger hunt really should be difficult and time-consuming enough thakitten would still give players contemplation to purchase it on the outpost for the rate it is right now.

The fact that they have taken months to design it and that there are technical hurdles shows thakitten is going to be completed, and not a simple ‘complete your personal story + other little dungeons like molten alliance’. That’s naive. Everyone would be able to do that and seeing everyone have a legendary will be as repulsive as seeing everyone in Cof armor 1 month after release (seriously, everyone wore that kitten)

No matter what Anet does, there will always be people complaining thakitten will be too easy and too hard.

I hope that if they make it too easy, they release a new ‘tier’ of legendaries with no stat advantage but increased and desirable effects i.e. “Ascended Legendaries”

I agree getting one shouldn’t be easy, It should be time consuming like you said. maybe find a way to set timers so parts open up after so many hours after completing the part before etc.

There are several ways they could implement a epic quest style hunt to obtain a legendary. What would also be good with this is specific quests based on the legendary you would like, yes I know it would require more unique content but think about how many people would do every one just to experience the unique storyline for each Legendary.

I would be kinda kitten ed if they released a new tier of legendary after spending all this time gathering all the components needed to make my 1st one.

Bottom line it sounds like a positive thing that most people would like to see and in a game like this keeping the community positive is always good.

I need to generate about 58 skill points what would be the fastest way to do this?

Ive had several people give suggestions from my guild from malchors farm, fractals to dungeons.

My thoughts are Fractals 24-30 and Dungeon runs you can do quickly any other thoughts?

Post your legendary progress!

Raise general drops in exchange for removing magic find sounds like a good idea.

If they remove MF what happens to eq that was purchased with laurels, guild comm. and gold? Just saying
