I’m working on Fix-r-upper for my scrapper. I’ve done it all except “Complete a map in Heart of Maguuma on an Engineer.” So I’m set to go to Bloodstone Fen which is listed in Wiki as a map included in HoM area.

But then I looked at my Ranger who has 100% in the bloodstone map and noticed that her achievement for Yggdrasil, and noted that this has not been completed for her.

So, does Bloodstone Fen not count for this achievement? Do I have to do another map for the ranger Yggdrasil?

Squad grid border coloration for commander?
As I travel in squads there are some times when you need to find the squad commander in the grid layout so you can “Join in map” or “whisper” or something. and in a grid of many players the commander is hard to find. So, some commanders burn a, what do you call it, sub-squad? Anyway, a sub grid, for just themselves so they are easy to click on. They need to lock this subsquad so no one else joins it. Also wastes their time. This is wasteful of grid space obviously. So I suggest that the commanders “mark” color should be a 1 pixel border around their square in the grid. This would make them easy to find without taking up any more space in the UI and not require burning a sub-squad just to call out the commander. This also has the advantage that it’s obvious with no documentation. When you are following a commander with an Orange hat [mark, whatever you call it] and you see an Orange marked grid square, then it’s obvious that’s the commander.

Is there something I missed?
thanks,

Is there a way to Wield in Wardrobe so we can see the Wielded animation?
Don’t we need that? For example, I’d like to see the flames of a torch before spending the tmute to set it. Any weapon with an animation needs a preview in wardrobe.

Stories not Account Wide - Should Be

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

And you realize I’m not asking for any changes to the ability to do all this stuff on multiple toons and get all that trash, right? I’m just suggesting that AN acknowledge that you have “Completed” a story step when you do it on any toon, and that you can do the next step on any other toon in your account rather than “having” to catch up to do that next step on another toon. No change to MP rewards and achievements, which already work account wide.

Stories not Account Wide - Should Be

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

So here’s my rant, for today.
I’m an altaholic. And I’ve been playing since shortly after GW2 came out. I have 15 toons.
One did Victory of Death the Old Way, and the rest are ready – including a HoT Revy, to do it the new way.

Well, I had assumed that the new stories would be “Account Wide” so I wouldn’t really have to do all those Season 2, Silvertop and HoT Stories 15 times. After all, the loot you get for stories is pretty much of a joke, right? Oh it looks good, but it amounts to salvage or Mystic fodder or whatever you choice is these days for green gear.

Well come to find out that Season 2 and I’m assuming HoT stories are all Per Toon.
I’m all for the “Choice” to do the stories again.
But since the only real “Reward” for doing stories these days is MPs, and I don’t get more when I redo the stories, on same or other toons. Then why should I:
(1) Re do them or need to redo them on other toons to show the progress.
(2) Not be able to switch toons to use different classes to progress my story. And this is the big one.

AN, if you are not going to reward me, in any meaningful way, for doing the stories again on another toon, then let me switch toons to progress the story.

And if anyone wants it the other way, just make it an OPTION setting – Account Wide Stories. Although with the way things are, and the ablity to redo the stories, then I’m not clear on why we need the option.

So if I want to switch to my warrior – for Stand Your Ground and other Stability Skills to do Plan of Attack which is Knock down after Knock Down, then let me. And then I can switch back to my guardian for the next story part. Same lousy rewards, MPs only once like now, and more flexibility in doing the stories.

Any problems with that line of thinking. Bring it the Freak On!

Mastery Training?

yeah yeah read that.. No help.
But I get it now after a conversation in game.
When the XP bar is maxed out, I have to go to Achievements and look for ones with Red markers to get MPs for Central Tyria. So I have to find 8 easy Achievements to get more points. More XP does not help. The UI is not clear on this point.
But I don’t have to spend points on the wrong thing – made a mistake and trained fractals for 1 point, but never mind.

I think I get it now. I’ll go grind some Cheeves and concentrate on places where Flame Legion lives to get that last chunk of Mist armor I need.

This UI thing could be a lot clearer.

And I miss not being able to see my down-leveled level too. But never mind.

Mastery Training?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

windyweather.1238

I’m a noob to HoT and have 12 points although I’ve been playing GW2 for 3 years – since shortly after release. I have 14 toons in all classes.

I have 12 points. Played some of the new content and can fly.

I’m working in “Greater Tyria” and have trained Pact Commander through “Noblesse Oblige” and the bar on the bottom is now stuck.

I will never play fractals – Been there and Done that waste of time.
I don’t believe in grinding and gambling on Ledgendary Weapons so I don’t care about those.

So what now. Does this bar continue to move or do I waste all effort until I train Masteries that I don’t care about? And then grind them until the only thing left is the one that I do want?

With all the changes in the past few years to allow you to change talents skills and specializations all the time, and now this? Do I have to waste points on Masteries that I don’t care about and grind them on and on to waste points rather than using them on things I care about? Or is the UI for masteries just very confusing?

Is there a wiki page that makes sense of this. I’ve seen the pages and they did not clarify this point.

Thanks for the clarifications

Weapon Master achievement Strange?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

Summary:

Mastery point is determined by origin of final damage packet.
If damage is condition damage – no mastery point.
If damage is from pet/minion – no mastery point.
[…].

Since almost none of this is visible, then looks like you need to test and if you aren’t getting points, try another class. Long live Altaholics. And apparently I was wrong. The Achievs are not designed to encourage using all weapons on all classes. Since for some classes, you get almost no points. See above. Thanks for the details. Guess they are in the wiki somewhere.

Weapon Master achievement Strange?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

windyweather.1238

I use Superior Sigil of Corruption on the mace and Superior Sigil of Speed on the off-hand weapon.

I just did some tests on other classes. Equipped with the same exotic mace and corruption sigil with shield in off hand with speed sigil. Again, only using Mace skills to kill mobs.

Guardian showed a much better rate of counting. But not 100%. I didn’t do an exact count, but it looked like I was getting about 90% count rate on kills.

Warrior showed almost 100% count rate. At one point it looked like I missed one, but a few seconds later it looked like it counted 3 when I only killed 2 mobs. Not sure about that, but warrior definitely shows a count so high I have no argument about it.

I do note I’m using Runes that have effects that might kill. Warrior uses Baelfire Runes which has a nova effect when struck. The Revenant uses superior rune of speed, which has no damage effect. The Guardian uses Super Rune of Traveler which has stats, boon and condition duration effect, but no damage effect. So the runes would appear to not have any issue since the only toon with runes that have damage effect showed the best count rate.

Maybe AN was just sloppy with their counting of kills on the revenant with the achievements. Even tho the counts were a little lower, I have no real argument with the rate I was getting on the guardian. But the Revenant counting was very low.

Weapon Master achievement Strange?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

You make burning with revenant mace. If the burning does the final hit on the mob it wont progress the achievement.

So if that’s the case, how does an Ele get any credit for staff kills since all of them apply conditions. That’s all they do right? Like 2, 3 of the mace on a Reve? But as I read it, skill 1 of Reve mace looks like a Melee skill and I didn’t get credit. Oh well maybe it was the 10th of a second that I didn’t see where he bled out from a smashed skull. Maybe that’s it.

So, these achievements seemed to be designed to encourage the use of all your weapon types, but the rules are so complicated, and leave out so many cases that they disadvantage some weapon types in the extreme. I’ve been playing since shortly after GW2 came out – a long freaking time – and most of my Weapon Master achevs are long done. Longbow, greatsword etc. But if if a new class, and not the best weapon is going to be so disadvantaged, why should I bother? It’s only 6 points. It’s just that AN seems to compulsive about being fair in all things that it seems odd that it works this way.

I thought the achievement was “Hey Use Your Mace, Noob” and it’s more like “Silly to use your mace for achievement, Noob”.

whatever,

Weapon Master achievement Strange?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

Ok… What does that mean? I’m the only one hitting these mobs and whether I use the 1 key – melee – or 2,3 only – it doesn’t count every kill. So why when I only use the mace to kill does it not count every kill? If it’s gonna say melee then it should at least count 1 skill kills, right? Well it doesn’t do that.

Why is it so freaking complicated? I’m the only one doing damage with mace only? So final strike, or condition applied, was with mace. So count it? No?

Is there a wiki page if it’s that complicated?

Weapon Master achievement Strange?

Playing Revenant all day and watching Mace Master achievement.

It does not seem to be counting as I expect. I’m solo and I’m the only one hitting the mobs and only using the 123 keys with mace in main hand. But it’s not counting with every kill. Soooooo…..

Is it just not updating every time. It has moved.. All day I basically got 100 kills clearing 3 maps. Seems low.

And I just killed 4 things and it didn’t count them.

So, of course the mace is applying conditions and does it not count unless the mob dies on a strike, but burns later based on the condition? Gonna be hard to get 5000 kills that way, and seems really unfair since it was the mace that applied the condition.

Is this the way that these achievements are supposed to work or is this an oversight with the new Revenant class?

Well, I’m not clear on why we are getting all Moral about Masteries. I can craft all the way to 80. But it’s in the inconsistency that I’m confused about. If Crafting is no longer rewarded after 80, then why have a Mastery that boosts it?

In other news, I’m a little irked that I have 11 mastery points that I can’t spend. Got them on other toons before I bought HoT. So I came in with 12 Mastery points immediately. Yes 12. Visited Maguuma and did a story and could spend one. Not sure of the math that resulted in having 12 MP, but I assume it’s because I have like 12 or some such toons that reached 80 b4 I bought HoT. But now I have to grind XP and lap the 1.27 M XP points to use each of these points. Sorry for taking this thread somewhere else, but it is my thread. Excuse me, but I lapped my other toons many many many times, and it only resulted in my getting 12 lousy points and I still have to grind more laps to use them. Like they say “Been There Done That”. Sorry. I’m back to grinding.

That, my friend, does not make sense. Why give rewards that help you do something you can’t gain EXP in doing? Pretty silly in my view.

“Oh the big girls that have gained level 80 are too big to spend their time working on mere crafting. So no XP for you!” sigh…

BTW, you’ll notice that my original note was about the display being stuck at FULL and only later did I notice that I get no Mastery XP from crafting.

Removing Armor from the game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

Why are we removing armor styles from the game?
If we were adding new armor styles to the game then I could understand that.
But I don’t see new armor styles appearing in the Wiki. Are we not keeping the Wiki up to date, or are there some new skins with HoT?

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gem_Store/historical

But Phalanx and Viper were removed from the Gem Store and I don’t see any crafted or other ways to get those styles. Those styles were very nice to have attractive female heavy and medium armor styles. Someone at AN got a prudish streak? No short skirts in the game? Earth to AN: that’s not gonna sell. Take a look at Tera and LoL etc etc etc.
So what’s the story. How about some Mystic Forge recipe for these skins if the Gem Store is full. BTW, you can’t save client disk space by removing these of course, so I really don’t get why skins are ever “removed” from the game so that new players can no longer get them. WintersDay costumes not available in Summer? Ok I get that. But some nice armor skins that were available? Removed. I don’t get that.

What’s gives?

Fort Trinity Asura Gate Strangeness

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: windyweather.1238

windyweather.1238

Ok. So complete “Battle for Fort Trinity” and get permission to use the Asura Gates to take you to the order head quarters… Fast free travel. Cool.

But. I’m Priory, and go to Chantry of Secrets. It works. I want to get to Lion’s Arch and it’s a quick walk from there.
But then I leave the instance using the button at the right of the screen assuming that I’ll be tossed outside into Blood Tide Coast, so I can walk to Lion’s Arch and from there, anywhere. BUT
When I exit the instance for Chantry of Secrets, there is a loading screen for Straits of Devastation. What back to Ft Trinity, I say? But no. I’m dumped right back into Chantry at the spawn point.

So then I can leave into Blood Tide by the Chantry exit. Ok. So I can go where I want, but looks like if you go to Chantry with that gate, they should set the Instance Exit point to Blood Tide coast rather than leave it… Well messed up.

Minor point… But then again easy to fix.
Of course, this is the only FT gate that goes into an instance, so the other two cases should be fine.

I see a site called cdkeys.com with the HoT expansion standard for $35. Says they deliver a key. Another site had a similar low price, but the fine print says “European Version Only”. Are these some sort of scam, or legit? G searches also show deluxe version for $75. Also, I don’t see that they say I need to wait 72 hours on a credit card purchase like ANet does.

I’m on pause here thinking about whether I want to purchase to just run a Reverent Alt. I was never psyched about the diefest that I got into with the last two areas they opened up, even with Exotic crafted gear. Both DT and SW seemed like you had to be in a zerg to have any fun, or just stay alive, like I’m saying, with Exotic gear. Anyway, I’m saying that I might spend $35 to Alt some Revs in the other areas, but so far the new content seems less and less interesting.

Default Armor colors are strange

I just started noticing that when I equip a new piece of armor it gets a set of strange colors by default. The previous behavior was that the colors were taken from the colors applied to the piece that I was wearing in that slot- to the best of it’s ability. Yes I know that different armor types have different slots configs so an exact match is not possible. But it was always reasonable with some slots Removed Dye.
Then for a while, a few days ago, newly equipped armor showed up with all Removed Dye applied.
But now I’m getting Glory, Lipstick, and Grape Gum, all of which I own, but none of which I have in my favs or applied to anything.
Looks like someone tried to “make it better” and messed it up Royally Pink.
Anybody else seen this strange behavior?
I like the previous almost good guess a lot better than this “Random choices from the Pink Pallet”. I’m wearing mostly in the greens right now.

I have a book that I read a few years ago:
Synthetic Worlds: The Business and Culture of Online Games
Book by Edward Castronova
I may read it again soon. Some of you might be interested as well.

Please add mat storage for new content

Each new expansion seems to add a bunch of junk that we have to keep in the bank, and much of it is really mats to be collected to make or buy stuff. Please add mat storage cells in the bank to allow this stuff to be stored in the bank more efficiently. And to be deposited directly from the bags.
Silky Sand, Geodes, Aetherkey / Pieces, Doubloons, Festival Tokens, Lesser Vision Crystals, Elemental Essence, Bandit Crests, All types of Luck, …
I’m sure you have a better list than I do.
I presume that we don’t believe that new content is designed as an income generator by selling more bag / bank space to everyone.
Thanks,
ww
