Thank you all for answers… as some of you said, i’m crafting the volcanus for it’s skin, so if new ascended weapons are trasmutable there is no problem… i will wait to craft it (or to soulbound it), hoping for more details from devs soon
hey folks,
i’m wondering one thing, should i finishing my volcanus considering those new ascended weapons that will be added? What they will have more than exotics weapons? Better stats? AR?
Thank you for your answers.
i think that GS is the better choice an evade in your auto-attack, a nice block, a very good interrupt and you can do some nice damage with
What about replacing the trinkets with zerker version? You lose a little bit of crit chance (68% instead of 76%) but you gain a lot in critical damage (74% instead of 30%). You lose also some condition damage, but i think it’s a better trade off
So i can fire arrows farther than my pet can go? Actual range of pet is obvious too high (3000 if i recall correctly), but 1200 range is laughable…
I would run with 0 10 20 10 30, because Signet Mastery is useless in your build (you can precast SotH for your pet, and you will use SotW always for passive).
Pet’s Prowess is a lot of extra damage with cats (in particular Jaguar), so it’s ok.
In WS trait-line i would take Vigorous Renewal (vigor is always nice) and Martial Mastery (CD reduction make GS a very useful weapon in WvW).
For BM trait-line take Commanding Voice, Compassion Training and Natural Healing.
Skills:
Sick ’Em for dmg. Quickening Zephyr for stunbreaker and quickness. Signet of the Hunt for out of combat speed and incombat dmg (usually use it with bird F2). And Jaguar <3 when Stealth—> Sick ’Em—> QZ—> SotH.
In dungeons I swap SotH for Guard (10 sec protection with 12 sec CD) and Compassion Training trait for 20% shout recharge, so Sick ’Em will be ~30sec and Guard 12 sec.
If that is the exact sequence of skill, is incorrect, because QZ will cancel Sick’Em. Any other skill that buff the pet, or order something to pet, will cancel Sick’Em. So you need to use that skill at the end of the chain
Btw the build is good and viable if you can survive in lvl80 dungeons and higher fractals. Doing good damage without dying every 10 sec is never wrong
Give a try to LB, i found it very effective in fractals, and with Piercing Arrows you can do a lot of damage (i’m a SB fan since the beta )
Hey,
In my pursuit of mastering all professions in sPvP, I have recently started using the ranger and I want to be a trap master however, during my practice joins last night, I noticed some issues surviving, so I have a some questions:
1. Which trait gives you the most access to vigor?
2. Which traitline gives you the best survivability?
3. What is the most reliable way to remove conditions?
4. Are there any notable combo field based moves we can create?Unfortunately I want to go 30 in the 2nd traitline, so I just wanted to pick the best defensive traitline to make up for it.
1) Put 5 points in WS for +50% vigor regen, if you put 10 points you can also choose “Vigorous Renewal” as Major Trait that gives you vigor when using a heal skill
2) WS – Vigor Regen, Protection on Dodge, etc..
3) You can use Empathic Bond, but you need to put 30 points in WS. Otherwise you can use “Signet of Renewal”. Healing Spring also remove condition at each pulse, but you need to stay in the field.
4) Leap (Sword/GS) with water field (Healing Spring) and with fire field (Fire Trap, Bonfire)
Fact is that Ranger pet can be made to do far more damage than even phantasm, which can far outclass minions in damage.
Yes, because our damage is split between us and our pet. A Mesmer can hit very hard, with or without clones, we can’t.
This is not about is ranger easy to play or not..no one stated it was easy..
This is about the imbalances within the class mechanics
It’s difficult to make comparisons because mechanisms behind ours pets are unique and different from all others class. Pets are part of us for better or worse
But yes, Lick Wounds is a bit OP underwater because there aren’t stomps.

Can, maybe, a dev give us an answer once and for all, or they’re just too busy running around with 5 sig wars? Yes, i’m looking at you Karl >.<
So, you got kitten by a Ranger, and all that you do is coming QQ here? Pets can’t do 5k with every crit, only cats can reach that damage under some conditions (jaguar in stealth + Pet’s Prowess trait vs GCs). And pet’s are easily avoidable , because their attacks are broken.
If you think that a BM ranger is easy to play, just try it.
Okay so this may be something small overall, but I feel that rangers should be able to have a more informative display of their pets. It should show current hp IN NUMBERS, Conditions, Boons etc…..basically just like ours but probably a smaller interface. Any idea why this hasn’t been implemented yet? or if there are plans to implement it? I find it pretty annoying to have to find my pet wherever the heck it may be in battle and target it to see conditions.
This. Just make something like GW1…
Depends… If you play a BM Condition Bunker, i would say pretty high.. At least 1200 without stacks..
Quick question, where is the video/source for all this? I had heard from someone that pets would be getting a significant AI buff (some are still awful at hitting moving targets) and hit the forums.. pleasantly surprised to see that there is more to it than that.
Can someone share a link for me plox?
