[Feedback] on Revenant Beta

in Revenant

Posted by: xLiveLucidx.5071

I’m so excited we have a dedicated healer option in the Ventari legendary stance! It’s something I’ve felt has had a place in GW2 since launch, and it’s proving it’s potential in the beta already.
That being said, as I got hands on with Ventari I couldn’t help feeling that the gameplay while challenging and rewarding, wasn’t smooth enough. Upon switching into Ventari stance using skill #6 to summon the tablet felt slow. Not having access to utility skills immediately on legend swap is going to punish players in those heart pounding moments in wvw, pvp and group content we love in GW2. Too many times a reflect, condi cleanse or emergency knock back on an instant’s notice could have saved my butt!
Moving and placing the tablet was the most challenging mechanic while playing the revenant for me. I love the idea of creating an “ambulance” vis a vis the tablet, however just as with summoning there will be moments when that extra second or 2 it takes for the tablet to travel to the party will mean success or wipe.
Perhaps upon legend swap into ventari the tablet could auto summon on the revenant with utilities available immediately. I think it would be more reliable in the high pressure environment of combat in GW2 this way. As for the movement of the tablet, I’d like to see a major speed increase, or maybe the skill could become a ground-target ability that heals in a radius (same as the current tablet radius) on summon. The revenant could tear a rift in the mists at the tablet’s location vanishing it, the rift could then reopen at the new ground-targeted location summoning the tablet again for an instant aoe heal and field.
Ventari is a real bro, thanks for all the hard work ANet :-)

Do you want us not to farm champs?

I think the reason these threads aren’t answered promptly (or at all some times) is that when ArenaNet puts out a new reward many people feel the requirements are harsh and start the “Grind Wars 2” argument. Parallel to those are threads where players freak out over losing farming opportunities. This happens naturally because what Guild Wars 2 does is evolve. If it stayed constant, we may have permanent fixes, but this is the beauty and the curse of developing an MMO; it’s a constant battle for balance.
Perhaps reworking requirements for certain rewards to accommodate these champ changes might bring us closer to a comfy spot between having to kill one thing a million times to get the reward we want (ie. champs), and killing a million things a million times (ie. farming mats).

Evasive arcana on fire-air-earth adept and attunement
Cd range 11-8 on attun swap
elemental attunement on 5 of arcana
renewed stamina on adept

Make those change and u will unlock every kind of builds, sadly to say but imo every one wanna those traits at any cost… it s a must have for any ele build… otherwise this topic is only gossip… u wanna make more viable build just do this modify

I’ve always personally felt as well that Elemental Attunement is a class defining trait. I’ve been arguing to make it baseline or to bring it back down to tier one but the decision we’ve made instead is to bring Renewing Stamina back down to adept instead. This will prevent the dps ele nerf and even though we might all perceive that EA is a “staple” trait we do luckily have options to trait up instead to make up for the loss if you wish to spend points elsewhere. [Elemental Shielding, Zephyr’s Boon, Soothing Mist, etc. etc.] and yes… I know its more than one trait to make up for one but at least they are there and accessible low in other trait lines.

Our hope is not to destroy builds but to make more. Right now the way it looks for Elementalists in PvP is that most builds will still be the same, maybe with a little less AOE condition removal, but there will be more accessible options when going higher in the Fire, Air, and Earth trees.

I personally can’t wait for the Soothing Mist + Cleansing Water synergy. I think I will be enough for me to opt out of taking Cleansing Wave.

This change is devastating to the team support in my 20/10/0/30/10 Scepter/Dagger Signet Aura-share build.
By moving Elemental Attunements to Master tier you’re forcing me to choose between pulling 10 points out of Zephyrs Boon and investing it in Arcana for Elemental Attunements or pulling 10 points out of Arcana and investing in Elemental Shielding.
Without Zephyrs Boon Auras are not worth forming an entire build around, and the 3 seconds of protection provided by Elemental Shielding is nowhere near as supportive as Elemental Attunements boons.

Either way I look at it, the changes in Arcana will have me investing further into the line and possibly abandoning my aura share build entirely for an Evasive Arcana build.

I play a 20/10/0/30/10 Aurashare build on my Elementalist.
The point of my build is sharing boons with my team and healing. It does great in dungeons and pve but struggles a bit in pvp and wvw.

Moving Elemental Attunement to Master tier is a big hit to the support of my build as I can no longer provide Protection or Regeneration on Earth and Water swaps which added greatly to my team and I’s survival.

I understand you are trying to steer people away from the Arcana line, but this is giving me the need to further invest in it. I don’t understand what changing the Water Magic line has to do with your Anti-Arcana goal either.

Well long story short, it feels like GW2 is very DPS/Berserker build oriented, but with the build I’ve been using I found a way to play in the Supportive/Healing style I enjoy. Unfortunately the upcoming changes you’ve detailed here are going to force me to become more DPS focused.
I’ve already shelved my Ranger due to changes since launch, please don’t make me do the same with my Ele.

I’m not sure if you meant anything bad by what you said about elementalists, but as an ele who has a pretty firm grasp on the profession, I have to say imo D/D is the least effective Weapon set in dungeons. S/D, S/F, and staff all provide better support through heals, boons and blinds/immobilize. D/D is arguably the best spvp set, but I’ve done better with S/D.

I love this idea because yes, it may encourage some to use censored language for fun, but it makes light of negativity rendering it harmless. People who use profanity or hurtful language don’t realize how unnecessary and self ridiculing it is; this would be an effective and fun way to open their eyes.

War declared on Rata Sum

in Charr

Posted by: xLiveLucidx.5071

xLiveLucidx.5071

Interesting post OP. This is sure to be a good discussion topic.

First, I feel calling for all warbands is folly as only the Flame Legion would be bold and antagonistic as to wage war against any of the other four races. The Charr are facing the threat of the elder dragons and molten alliance as well as the human separatists; they can’t afford to make any more enemies.
Second, the Flame Legion/Molten Alliance as well as the Charr race as a whole has too much to gain from allying with the Inquest/Asura respectively. Why destroy/shut down asuran portals already present in every nook and and cranny of Tyria and make new ones when you can just seize and use them yourself.
If the Flame Legion is serious about conquest it needs to continue on its path of forming alliances with other antagonizing forces. As it stands (especially after the death of Zhaitan and the risen) the strength of the Legions and the other protagonist groups is greater as a result of their unity (although some leaders among these communities have potential to cause tension between them due to old grudges and close mindedness.)
All that being said, I would love to see the full force of Rata Sum demolish any army foolish enough to wage war against it. With its golem army, advanced explosives and weapon technology, educated magic wielders, as well as its ability to transport goods and soldiers anywhere in Tyria, I don’t believe there is such a force to oppose it (outside of the elder dragons.)

World War for Tyria

in Lore

As a pro-human, I don’t think the human race will die out in the future, mainly because the humans have already lived for about thousands of years (Facing complications) and look at where they are right now, still one of the proud races of Tyria!

The humans are definitely to be respected for their accomplishments in the past, but now their alliances are really keeping them afloat. If there wasn’t a treaty between the Charr and the Humans, they could easily be wiped out. If the absence of their gods continues, Human influence in Tyria will diminish. That also raises other good questions about how the six Human gods could intervene, and what kind of impact they could make in the war.

World War for Tyria

First off all, the enemy factions need to start working together. The second thing is that we dealt some sensative blows. The flame legion was nearly dead till Baelfire boosted moral. The inquest lost their leader as well as (one of) their main research facility.

Tengu and Largos are neautral, and Kodan are peacefull as long as there is balance in nature and we dont threathen them. Ascalonian Ghosts, grawl and ogres are mindless creatures that are more animal then sentient beings.

Agreed. The enemy factions will need more than just the Inquest and FL to pull this off. With a charismatic and fearless leader (or two, one for each group) the Inquest and FL would be back in action and ready to recruit. The Tengu and Largos would most likely (imo) stay neutral, and that would probably spare them any attacks from the enemy factions. The Kodan might fight with the good alliance in order to maintain balance in Tyria. The remaining races may be “mindless,” but that only means converting them will be more bargaining than politics. They will also still be good allies to have.

World War for Tyria

xLiveLucidx.5071

The future of Tyria after the wars with the Elder dragons is up for debate. What will happen to the “evil” factions among the races of Tyria? Will the eradication of the dragons be enough to disband these antagonizing forces, or will tensions boiling the thinning ice beneath this new found peace among the races eventually erupt into a cataclysm that will forever change Tyria? I believe the latter.
Arguably the most powerful of these antagonists are the Inquest. They have political and technological power as well as the ambition to disregard anything that will slow their progress towards world domination. With enough resources and the right allies, perhaps they could achieve this goal.
If the Inquest cut all ties to the Human race (a soon to be extinct race anyways,) they could make allies with the Flame Legion and any other Charr still harboring hatred for humans. Then using portal technology they could transport Charr armies and their war machines to Divinity’s Reach and Ebonhawke to erase Human leaders and military from existence. This would be an intimidating and provocative opening statement of their intentions for world domination.
Their would be a great backlash as a result of this heinous act, and most likely remaining Asura not affiliated with the Inquest as well as the Sylvari would be first to retaliate. The Norn would be hesitant to involve themselves due to their isolated nature, but I’m sure they would eventually be persuaded to find glory in a battle of this magnitude. The remaining Charr legions would probably readily face the Flame Legion and may actually tip the scale towards the “good guys.” The Hylek and the Quaggan would most likely fight against the Inquest-Flame Legion alliance.
Then with all of Tyria against them, the new Inquest-Flame Legion alliance would need to recruit “lesser” races as allies. The Centaurs would be a no brainer. Due to the eradication of the humans, new lands would be up for the taking and the Centaurs would fight for it regardless, therefor offering these lands to them would win them over. The Nightmare Court would most likely fight along side their fellow Sylvari casting aside their differences in order to defend their race as a whole, but if offered enough power and property they may be persuaded. The Sons of Svanir are iffy. I’m sure they would jump at the chance to gain more power, but killing other Norn and allying with other races (not to mention females) might be deal breakers (I’m on the fence.)
I’m not sure what the other races such as the Dredge, Grawl, Ogres, Tengu, Kodan, Largos, Ascalonian ghosts etc. would do, but in order to win a war of this scale, the Inquest-Flame Legion alliance would need as many armies as possible. Even if they did pull this all off, the fight against the other Charr legions and remaining “good” Asuras may alone be too overwhelming; I think this will come down to which side has the most Charr war machines and Asuran golems and portal access.
Either way, this would be a war on a scale that (I think) Tyria has never seen, and the outcome would shift politics in very interesting ways. Not to mention it would be really fun to be involved in as a player. :-p
So, what do you guys think? Could something like this ever happen? Which races and factions do you think would join which side? If this did happen, what would the outcome be? What about the Elder Dragons? Would it be wise to wait for the dragon wars to end or is it the perfect opportunity for the Inquest- Flame Legion alliance to attack a crippled and distracted Tyria? Anything I missed or got wrong?

So the new Master Crafter monthly achievement requires us to craft 40 items of Masterwork quality or higher.
Let’s create a list of what we think would be the cheapest and or easiest items to craft for each of the crafting disciplines: chef, artificer, weaponsmith, armorsmith, huntsman, jeweler, leatherworker and tailor.

This will help those of us who have maxed our disciplines save some time and coin on this portion of the monthly.

I don’t get why this thread was posted only a week away from the release after you’ve already built the content and have made public announcements about it. Why not present an idea to the community before you build it? This way the community will play a larger role in the creative process and thus it will be generally more satisfied with the content. You can make it clear that all ideas are theory only until decided on by development teams so expectations and demands don’t get overwhelming. As it is now, it feels like anything I could suggest to change or add would be in vain.

Is there a way to reverse this without grinding HotW or AC another 5 times? Is there another, more easily obtained armor set with those stats in game?
If not, I ask Robert Hrouda if maybe a dungeon armor exchange system can be put into place so when people make the mistake I did in the future, they can reverse it.

P.S. This is my first Dungeon post so I thought I’d say thank you to Robert Hrouda because I haven’t seen another developer in these forums as dedicated to answering questions and getting involved with the community as him.

Jon…come on…please think before you speak. Read what you just said.

I see a lot of talk about ranger weapons, but I don’t think that is the real problem.

There are >500 skills in this game, 480 traits, and 2 designers working on this. Even then often we are bottle necked by other issues.

Jon

First of all, you just admitted to believing the ranger community doesn’t know its own class or the problems with it. That’s like the Electoral College saying “Well, we understand the American population voted this way, but we know that’s not how they really feel, therefor we’ll just run the election in a way we think is best for them.”

Also, 2 designers working on class fixes?!?! 2!? I know this is not your personal authority but seriously?!? Do your superiors know you just revealed that piece of dreadful information to the entire community?

That being said, I appreciate that the ranger profession is finally receiving the long awaited (since beta) attention it deserves, so thank you. Just listen to the community and not the voices in your head please.

Transformation isn’t adding an upgrade. It’s slapping a skin on an pre-existing item and upgrade.

Sorry the forum won’t let me quote you for some reason.

You are correct, transmuting isn’t upgrading a slot, but that is irrelevant to the issue which is that Mad Memories verion 1 is upgradeable and Mad Memories: Complete Edition is not. It can, however be transmuted and this will bypass the issue for most players.

In my case I transmuted my story acquired backpiece to Mad Memories version 1. I then acquired Mad Memories: Complete Edition and wish to upgrade it with Exquisite Coral Jewel for my dungeon/wvw set and upgrade the Act 1 version with an Opal jewel for my magic find set. This isn’t possible because the Complete Edition can’t be upgraded and now I only have one backpiece to transmute it to and that’s the version 1 Mad Memories which I want to keep.

Here’s where THE BUG comes in. I decided to buy a guild backpack to upgrade to the Exquisite Coral Jewel and then transmute over to the Complete Edition, but not even the Guild Backpack will take an upgrade now. Something is buggy about backpieces at the moment.

Halloween Goodies?

xLiveLucidx.5071

Hi everyone and Happy Halloween!
I can’t speak for all of us, but I for one am having a blast with the Mad King events so far I think I do speak for all of us when I say it would be nice for ArenaNet to clarify how to obtain some of the holiday goodies!
The three craft-able Exotic Mad King weapons in particular are a large investment. The recipes and materials can all be obtained during the event and used to craft the weapons at a later time (even after the event ends.)
The issue is there are several versions of the lists of materials required for the recipes and the weapons themselves circulating the internet none of which are officially confirmed by ArenaNet. I understand that these recipes are meant to be discovered, but seeing as how the Halloween materials needed to create them are only available for a limited time, I think it only fair if Developers could confirm the correct requirements for all Holiday items.

Personally, my only wish this Halloween event is to be able to craft The Crossing staff for my elementalist; it is my favorite staff style in the game! After ~16g for the Gift of Souls recipe, ~1g for the Superior Sigil of Night recipe, along with the candy corn and nougats, I am hoping that I am done spending gold on the components exclusive to the Halloween event. Please let me know ArenaNet, I would hate to have spent hard earned gold just to have collected the wrong materials or not enough of what I need before the event ends.
To my (the internet’s) knowledge, this is the complete requirement list for The Crossing. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Gift of Souls Recipe:
250 Candy Corn
40 Elonian Wine
10 Crystalline Dust
100 Nougat Center

Gift of Souls:
250 Orichalcum Ingot
20 Glob of Ectoplasm
1 Gift of Knowledge
100 Crystal Lodestone

Superior Sigil of Night:
1 Orichalcum Ingot
1 Glob of Ectoplasm
1 Glacial Lodestone
100 Candy Corn

The Crossing:
1 Eldritch Scroll
100 Mystic Coin
20 Superior Sigil of Night
1 Gift of Souls

-Official patch notes failed to mention damage reduction.
-Players sought answers from devs, and Jon Peters’ response was so brief and open-ended it left players hanging on a cliff of uncertainty.
-Then he comes back to say ~damage decrease was intentional, Crossfire isn’t fun (the Shortbow’s only source of damage), players need to play more efficiently with the Shortbow, IF devs find there’s a further issue, we will work on it later~

Ooooh I love jokes! lemme tell a few…

-Rangers are viable in pvp
- Rangers are the best profession for ranged combat
- We all saw a huge animation glitch in Crossfire and definitely wanted a nerf on the Shortbow
- All of our weapon sets (especially the Longbow) are efficient damage dealers and allow us to outclass other professions
- Our Medium Armor is so strong it feels like I’m wearing Adamantium
-Our pet mechanics are polished and efficient
-Developers seem to really care about the Ranger community and want to help the profession become a fun, viable class to play.

Oh wait jokes are supposed to be funny… sorry for taking your time.

What's worse then being a Longbow/Shortbow user?

how dare you complain about ranger’s damage, ranger is not supposed to do any damage, damage done by ranger is the gift from the god’s mercy to this class; look at ranger weapons’ skill sets, none of them are about dealing damage, they are all about the love from the mother nature, you should use your attacks heal enemies show your care to them, lets just take off the weapons run into enemies and become a part of nature by lying on the ground like a real ranger.

This just became the most fun profession in the game. Hail Melandru!

Someone mention this thread on their Twitter, Fb and Reddit… 530+ replies, all upset/concerned customers threatening to change their profession or just quit the game in general has to attract some sort of attention.

How to change the shortbow skills?

All they really need to do is fix the bug that’s making Quickness not properly halve the cast speed for the duration of Crossfire. Every other aspect of the Shortbow (even the 40ms nerf to Crossfire’s attack speed) is fine.

Rangers have a lot of issues that need sorting, and almost none of them have to do with Shortbow (aside from the Quickness bug with Crossfire). It’s a great weapon. Greatsword needs a damage boost to make it a viable option over Shortbow. Same goes for Longbow.

Rangers need more reliable on-demand condition removal. Pet pathing needs to be more reliable, and they need to be able to use their F2 abilities while moving.

Shortbow isn’t the problem. Rangers are right on the brink of being competitive. If the above issues were addressed, they’d be amazing.

We were this amazing Ranger you speak of before BWE3 (minus the pet proposed pet fixes,) but now we are the laughing stock of spvp and slowly losing our pve prowess as well.

If ArenaNet wishes to tout Guild Wars 2 as a premier eSport game, then balance among all professions must be addressed quickly. In an eSport environment, all classes must have an equal chance at being represented, and as you said, LiveLucid, we’re not in the running for the heavy weight belt right now.

Good point Liam :-p
It concerns me a tad when there are talks of expansions and eSport movements when bugs and imbalances plague sections of the game.
Why would I pay for a tournament I’m most certainly going to get destroyed in? It’s just bad business.

The game’s only been out for six weeks and everyone is talking like a battle weary veteran. Lets just see what happens in the coming weeks. After all ranger isn’t the only profession that needs some tweaks and likely Arenanet need to be directing most of their resources to core gameplay issues.

Designers who had the skill to design the weapon skill sets in the first place are not going to suddenly lose their grip when it comes to tweaking them up a bit.

In a way you are right; the game is young, we must have patience and all that. It’s just kind of nerve wracking I suppose, to have spent so much time and money on a character and then literally have to take a break from spvp.
Since BWE1 it’s like the entire spvp system has changed…for better or worse? I can’t say for everyone, but for the Ranger…worse. I just hope they are going to give us more intimate support in the future.

Devs already announced they’re working on necromancer and elementalist at the moment, ranger isn’t a current priority for balance because the people in the necro/ele sections, know how to properly complain

This wasn’t in your original post but since you added it, I will say, I partially agree with it. I don’t think the other communities are better than ours, we just need to be more vocal…hence my post ;-)
