We had our first raid for Aurora Glade last night. It felt bad killing Kodash players after them being so good to us. We had transferred before the matchup however!
Nice GvG tonight TUP, first time in a long time I’ve been killed as quickly as in Round 3.. I watched the replay and I’ll be crying myself to sleep tonight.
We still have Thursday free if any guild wants a 20vs20 match, set challenge on website and we will accept.

But raids are completely deferent thing… We know you raid 10-20 guys so we raid in a bit higher numbers.

I respect the Zds of old, the Zds we fought in a 20 vs 20 which was awesome.
I have little respect for guilds that run 35 or so and claim they are the boss on a forum. It’s spray and pray zerging where bads can hide quite comfortably inside the ball. I think deep down the real Zds feel the same, hence the name change to Zbs when you guys are blobbing. It prevents people thinking less of Zds right?
Anyways, the challenge stands, if Zds want to 20 vs 20 on Thursday (We don’t care if you have orbs). VII are game.
And obviously others should have respect for you because you are beating them in a meta-game that has zero positive impact on the servers performance .
Bossing around is a relative term, aren’t you doing the exact same thing right now?
WvW and GvG are unrelated. GvG bring zero contribution to a servers performance.
Being wiped in open field WvW environment means that your adversary has the open hand on capturing a keep.
Wiping another team in GvG means that you have the bigger kitten.
It’s not ZDs problem that you chose to run in numbers that are rendering you useless in anything but a deathmatch meta.

Can anyone from DVG confirm how many Deso bads will be switching to Piken? This information will help others decide on their own future. Primarily the guild I play for and those on Piken who are already unhappy with the queues.
The week is over for us in VII. We’ve been tourists in this matchup so can’t really comment on the PPT or hard work the servers have put in. I’d just like to thank all the guilds who GvG’d us (Flare), (NP), (Vcy) and (TUP).
More importantly, we would like to thank the people of Kodash for hosting us these past few weeks. Kind and respectful, many even went as far as using English in /m just for our guild. We wish your server all the success possible in future matches.
that being said, however, i am…… very very confused. i mean….. a separate GvG map wouldn’t really need much to it at all. some have said just a big flat area would work, though i think sinking the floor to create kind of a pit-fighting deal would be better. then spectators could watch from above. there doesn’t need to be much scenery, just some collision boxes to keep spectators from jumping in, a repair merchant, some sort of portal entrance, and maybe some walls. all in all, not a major undertaking at all. and if Anet really wants a part of the game to be an esport, BLAM, there it is. the GvG community appears to be taking care of everything else about it, from organizing matches to working out rankings.
it really doesn’t seem like something that needs to be destroyed, just…. moved slightly. then everyone’s happy. GvG players can do their thing without worrying about stat discrepancies or interference. WvW players can do their thing without worrying about queues being affected. Anet gets a legitimate esport. i can’t think of any logical reason for it NOT to happen.
I bought into one guys idea from a previous thread, give us a portal from WvW to a copy paste of an empty Claw Island. It really is the perfect arena for crowds and the teams. Our community can do the matchmaking and scoring.
Thanks to Velocity for the GvG tonight! Some nice perimeter work from you guys! Well impressed by your warrior + thief duo, they forced us to shuffle our defensive actions and re-assign roles.
I agree with Dr Acula. At VII we aren’t overly concerned about “orbageddon”. We will continue to GvG and the thought of an opponent with buffs from all zones sounds like an awesome challenge.

Glad to see TUP officially joining the scene. If we can organise matches with TuP, HoB, Flare and VCY in the same week, VII will make that the second leg of our GvG tour.
I am missing something. Why are practice matches a joke? Honestly GvG for me is all about practice and good fights. Ranking is pretty irrelevant on the website anyway because it is very frequently quite inaccurate. And it is hard for servers to prove themselves across tiers. Number three NA guild is from Eredon Terrace over Night Shift? Okay. Yes, it is nice to have some general idea of where guilds stand, but if people are taking it so seriously then maybe the lesser evil is to get rid of rankings and only track history. I am sure we will not reach consensus on that, though. This is a social problem and it will not be fixed by rules and regulations, in my opinion.
In Europe most practice matches are played out with the same numbers as a competitive match which means one of or both of the teams are trying to avoid potentially losing points. Both sides play their best and play to win, yet because they are unsure if they will win, the match is arranged as a “scrimm”.
We aren’t talking understrength guilds playing 14 vs 14 for a laugh or 16 vs 20 for the challenge, it’s full on 20vs20 without the penalties of a loss on Gw2GvG.
The biggest thing that bothers me is guilds that are registered to gw2gvg.com, but only accept challenges from guilds they’re sure to beat. That’s just illogical, the challenge is the whole point of a GvG, I could not care less about the rating itself honestly. There is no fun in running over guilds that pose no resistance, I’d rather lose to a good guild.
Also, the rating system makes it so that if you lose to a guild with a much higher rating, you don’t lose that many points. This should be regulated by penalizing guilds that don’t accept challenges (for example, first challenge refused=nothing happens, starting from the next refusal to that same guild within a certain timeframe, the rating of the refusing guild starts to drop, and it does so exponentially for each refusal).

This is a legitimate concern. Each Friday as the Match reset happens, we contact all guilds listed as available to organise the weeks GvG’s. The first response is generally “What guild are you from?”. Upon answering it’s a case of “No” for reasons such as “we don’t have enough players” or “key players are on holiday”.
It’s a kick in the teeth to see these guilds running with 30 odd in WvW and GvGing other guilds in the same week they’ve refused you. Starter guilds seem more eager to learn than mid/high table guys are willing to risk their precious points. (IMO these practice/non-official matches that go on are a joke)
Are we approaching a situation where the higher up you go on Gw2GvG the less likely you are to get matches?
The Piken/Elona/SFR match has been a massive letdown on the GvG front for us sadly. It really could have been Epic.
Crossing our fingers for a Piken/Augury matchup next week. At VII, the opportunity to play VotF and Warforgis can’t come quick enough. I’m sure GH, Mya and co feel the same. So much potential in that pairing.
These threads should be in a seperate forum named tardwars2. It’s basically all the special cases and bads from each server trolling it out, which just makes a mockery of their home server.
I feel the need to apologise on behalf of the vast majority of Piken that are not represented here. We have multiple posts and discussions within our community about official forum conduct yet sadly, you just can’t teach the blatantly stupid.

You guys on Deso must have had it bad all those weeks vs Vizunah if that was fun. Tonight was a snorefest for us on your BL. I don’t think we had one open field fight the whole night. Our raid time consisted mostly of Ramming and Trebbing.
Thankfully we have some GvG’s this week to guarantee action.

It’s been a nice week, a good mixture of roaming guilds and pug zergs to fight. With gvgs and getting to play in the BL’s and EB, I cant really ask for anything more. Piken has had a good roll for 2 weeks now, hopefully we get placed highly for a 3rd week.

I offered GH fair fights Rich, I never specified numbers, all I said were, ‘even numbered fights’. I wasn’t cursing at you, I never called you out for blobbing in the whispers, and all I wanted were some fun fair fights without lag, which you declined.
Regarding the GvG, we have 2 main raid leaders in the guild, me and Seth. Due to my connection at home, I cannot/will not lead GvG’s, as I get ping spikes every few minutes, leading to timeouts/delays. A copy of my speedtest is provided below to verify this claim. To the best of our knowledge, Seth was going to be away from Monday onwards(on holiday), so we scheduled the GvG vs VII on Sunday because of that reason. Vanz can verify that as well, as I explained to him why it had to be Sunday. That is why we declined the GvG, because we would have no GvG leaders online who could lead a GvG.
We as a guild do not dodge GvG’s without a valid reason, and the reason in this instance, was the lack of leadership.

Even although Sylas sports his favoured homobow, I can confirm that we contacted scnd as soon as the matchup reset and were told that Sunday was the only option as Seth went on holiday as of Monday.
Sounds like GH vs Scnd is inevitable and a must as it stands… it could be kitten epic. Let me casually drop this here btw, in case it just gets outdated in a matter of hours :/

Is this something you plan to do on a weekly basis Ogre? Expect a lot of new subs if this becomes a regular feature. A place to check all the scores and see some matches from the week is just what the GvG community needs to keep up to date and raise the profile. Very impressed with this idea.
It may even be a step toward Anet doing something about a pvp format that is sorely missing from GW2.

I’m a bit sad to see this match end. Lots of guilds to fight and constant zergs to have a go at during primetime. It was a good week. Fingers crossed none of us get matched with low pop servers at reset.
I’m glad this match is over! Thanks to Punk,TNN and FSV for the GvG’s. Other than that, total snorefest for our guild raids which comprised mostly of running around empty maps.

VII have been quite unlucky in getting the “inactive” maps so far this match-up. Thanks to Punk and TNN for making last night more enjoyable. A few of those GvG’s we couldn’t handle you but made for a good learning experience.

Outside Garrison, I felt a bit sorry for VII when our guys got reinforced and you got steamrolled.
Its the penalty for playing guild only and we gladly pay it to maintain our non-zerg integrity.
We enjoyed last night a lot, especially the moments where it felt like the whole GH zone was rushing us, really got the adrenaline going.
We were slightly over-confident at NW tower, decided not to cap and see how long we could hold off the GH force. Big mistake, so many lootbags left behind when we were eventually routed.
I can’t understand the defeatist attitude and calls for fair fights. I don’t want fair fights, I want to be horribly outnumbered. That’s how you adapt and improve.
The heroic moments that create long lasting memories rarely come from even numbers. VII runs 10-15 these days and still have a lot of fun.
We will be active in this matchup from sunday onwards and running without commander tag to minimise friendlies following as usual, good to see GH again.
