It is just too late unless they do something really big to update WvW.
They already annihilated WvW guilds by not supporting any kind of WvW guilds and potential guilds vs guilds. Did nothing to change boring metas (they are probably not even aware of WvW meta games).
How can we expect WvW to be alive and good again when barely anything positive came out from HoT and now they are spending their time trying to fix what they broke with HoT.
Game is 4 years old and to keep a good game mode it would need to positively evolve, instead it negatively evolved.
I guess ESL teams must take necros to give their enemies free kills then.
Necro is a class that is only good when supported by team mates, it is problematic when there is less and less incentive to play as a premade team. ESL is not representative of what are the ranked matchs.
Linking is a short term solution and a poorly designed one. It leads to even more bandwagon that it was previously: people transfering on the cheapest server that got linked, then get sent back to other tiers they initially wanted to be.
What do you expect them to do but transfering again?
Probably a pretty lucrative system for Anet but creating powerhouse servers for few times and then destroying it with the next relink is probably the worse thing you could imagine.
It is disapointing players that would just like to stay in a stable tiers (high or low). How can it be ok to have such a huge instability among servers.
High tiers servers are artificially made and destroyed later with this bad linking system.
Linkings weren’t done for glicko reasons. They were done for population reasons.
Yes. Why not actual merge then? Any server prides are gone anyway with this system.

Yeah this new food is the personification of power creep.
It is, as is all the new stuff that brought HoT (damage reduction foods, durability runes, boons sigil, new gears that offers more stats than the pre-HoT ones…).
Rumour says Stronghold was supposed to be 8vs8.
Sadly it became a 5vs5 badly designed (Only 2 lanes for a moba type gamemode?) map.
Necros have meta-level builds for literally every mode in the game; it’s not at “rock bottom”. The fact that necros are reliant on support in PvP doesn’t change that either.
Necro has one of the weakest DPS out of all meta spec in PvE.
It is the only class 100% relying on an another class in PvP in order not to die in 5 seconds. How can it be OK that a class can barely be played if not supported in a game mode that clearly gives less and less incentive to play as a premade team.
How many times people will have to hear it… Lag will not ever be fixed.
It is a graphic engine issue and it will not be fixed as it would mean re-doing it.
Nope, nope nope nope. It won’t happen.
Engine is old and to fix the lag they would have to re do it: most likely as long as making a Gw3.
2: You can easily reduce pulses for symbol to reduce the amount of quickness you can get, but when you consider that mesmers can get 2 seconds of quickness with each well (which can be increased with boon duration) on top of group alacrity, it seems like a moot point.
It is not because other classes got unbalanced abilities that should get toned down that applying it to other classes is the way to go. Quickness is an extremely powerful boon that should not be that easily shared.
It would be good to have (3 months later) any update relating to what people voted for “Scoring Improvements” before even thinking of the other option.
Otherwise :
- Guild visible only comm tags. This would make it easier for guilds to run groups and would also remove any question about if visible tags are open or closed groups.
Yes, please.
Staff ele is “fine” in a pug situation (blob vs blob), it is nowhere to be useful anymore in guilds vs guilds or blobs. d/f full heal tank took over.
@OP
Anet’s ressources are limited and sadly neither of the PvP or WvW communities are happy with the current state of their game mode so sadly not much is happening. Time might help but well, it will be too late if it is not already (better late than never they say).
Season 1 was an absolute disaster regarding class balance, the bunker meta was at its worse.
The class clearly needs a buff and most people agree on that.
The issue is coming from the passive gameplay of the traps and that should not be up because it requires absolutely zero skill to use. This is precisely why beginners are moaning about DH because such a passive gameplay allows an average player to beat other average ones pretty easily without being more skilled.
I play a ton of Ele, And the aurasharing frontline ele is MUCH more fun then a brain dead staff backline ele xD Just my opinion thou.
How can you call staff ele a brain dead class when it was requiring a really high amount of skill to be really good at, while tempest is just following a leader without even thinking.
What makes this meta a brain dead one is precisely the fact that there is no backline anymore, everyone is stacked up on the leader and if positionning was always such an important factor regarding the skill of a backline (staff eles, necros and focus party), it is now completely gone.
Atleast now people are charging eachother… This meta is much more action oriented than the old pirateship meta.
Get away from the old habbits of backline/frontline, and adapt instead of crying.
It doesn’t require boonshare mesmers. Well played revenants, guardians with the right builds provide way enough boons already. Boonshare mesmer just makes it easier, skilless and accessible for the less organized group and that is not good at all for the game.
There are 3 problems with just corrupt-spamming the mesmers: One is that the best class for doing that (necro) is also the easiest one for a melee boon blob to train down. One is that the mesmers don’t have to expose themselves to do their job. One is that even if you strip the mesmers, the rest of the blob still has 30-60 seconds of quickness, resistance, and protection, and you have to kill that before they regroup and their continuum splits recharge. Good luck doing that unless you’re either massively better than them, or are also running boonshare.
Then don’t use necros. Use the counter to mesmers – thieves. Precast Larcenous Strike + Steal = 5 boons stolen. Then Shadow Step away/back. Thieves are plenty on WvW. Maybe it’s time they join the zerg.
So basically the only counter you can find to the boonshare mesmer is a pure hypothetical suggestion that can barely happen in a zerg fight?
A full mesmer boonshare rotation is quick enough that you barely can see it and the Signet of Inspiration has a 3/4s cast time. I would be pretty interested in seeing a video where you do pre cast Larcenous Strike+Steal in time so you can stop the shared boons to happen, even more without dying being in a middle of a zerg because clearly mesmer doesn’t have to expose himself to make his boonshare rotation. And I’m not saying one time when you do succeed after 100 tries because that is basically your suggestion, as it was obvious that it would counter it every time.
Hi,
It has been a while since I did not play GW2 (more than 2 years) and my main focus back then was always WvW. I have been a big fan of WvW guild videos and since I did restart playing I couldn’t see any of those guilds that were around back then. In fact I could barely see any guilds at all (I am playing on a EU server, Seafarer’s Rest, and what we used to call the “raid time” seems completely empty of guilds).
I was wondering, where went all those guilds? I’m thinking of guilds like Iron, RG, VoTF, Vii, Team Aggression, War Legend, GD, Mya etc.?
