Next gw2 Expansion Class?
My idea would be a Brawler. Weapons are daggers, focus, warhorn and a new weapon: knuckles (which could be given to thiefs too, for more variety, and other classes like warrior). As you can already, the purpose of this class is to be straight up the face. We give them the option for pistols though, since everyone needs a ranged weapon for some bosses.
The main idea is this class to knock people in the face. Some weapons like the knucklers have big damage and some cc but lack in other areas like mobility. While daggers are very quick and have evasive attacks.
The profession skills would be kind of an extra utility bar. You charge up a certain bar (like warrior’s adrenaline) and when it’s full you can use one of the following:
F1: next attack hits for 200% damage (limited time window, 3 secs or so)
F2: the next 3 seconds you have quickness
F3: An escape jump of 3000 range or something.
F4: Strong aoe earthquake (jumps up and punches the ground) but weak on single target
I think these would be pretty cool. The ‘Rage’ bar would fill every 10-20 second depending on traits and all the F-skills have own cooldowns as well. You can’t have quickness every 10 seconds.
Of course their utilities wouldn’t have quickness too, they can’t have it for 7 seconds or something. The F1 skill would be very powerful to use but has a limited window. They have to use it in combat, make sure they don’t get cc’ed and are in range and hit the right skill to do the most damage. The other skills all have their uses as well.
This class is meant to be played very aggressively but you can build him defensive as well. The playstyle stays aggressive though. As for armor, there are 2 options. One is to give him heavy armor to make it 3/3/3. The other is to have their own set of our, exclusive to them, and make it so they really have a brawler/karate look to them.
Direct damage is more of their thing but I’d make sure one weapon has a decent option to play condition, and a trait line as well.
I’d think this would be an extremely fun class to play. They would have some very aggressive/funny animations which makes it so it looks like a mad man gone loose
Also, for a new race, I’d prefer the Tengu. Musraat and Largo and stuff are all too difficult lorewise. A musraat is basically always a caster and Largos are assassins. Tengus can be anything even though they might be slightly better suited for ranger, thief and the like. I also think they fit in in brilliantly into the Brawler profession.
Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
I would absolutely love to see a “Shadow Knight” or a “Demon Knight”. It would fit perfectly as a third Soldier class and would bring a second darkstyle class to GW2 with Necromancer being the first one. Think WOWs Death Knight only better.
I’d really like to see any class that was in gw1 but isn’t in guild wars 2 like Ritualist, Monk and so on, most of all I’d like a Dervish they were sexy at least I thought so.
Race wise, I really like them Polar Bears, that I want!
I like the idea of the krait as a playable race, visually different and has a lot of potential for storyline since currently they are just a bunch of slavers
as for new profession, i think we need a new heavy armored class and i figured a heavy armor ritualist type, mid range profession could work
Quaggan Berserker!
Harnessing internal rage of HooOo
Utilising skills of Watery origin; Water combos, Chill, Dark and confusion.
There are no classes they could add. They have all the necessary archetypes in the game. Adding any more classes would just be redundant and cause nothing but balance disparity. Any abilities the developers designs in the future will fit for at least one of the classes that are already in the game.
If anything, ArenaNet should design new weapon types and class skills that fill up holes and roles currently lacking.

False. There is one soldier type missing.
There are three adventurers: Thief, Engineer, Ranger
There are three wizards: Elementalist, Necromancer, Mesmer
There are two Soldiers: Guardian & Warrior
Soldier is the missing link.
Adventurers have a naughty (Thief) a neutral (Engineer) and a nice (Ranger)
Wizards have a naughty (Necromancer) a neutral (Mesmer) and a nice (Elementalist)
Soldiers have a neutral (Warrior) and a nice (Guardian)
Naughty Soldier is the missing link
Fact: Next profession should be a naughty soldier
;)
Here are my ideas about new professions:
Soldier:
Avenger
-weapons: axe, pistol, rifle, torch, dagger, sword, hammer, greatsword
Avengers can master many types of weapons, similar to warriors. Unlike warriors who stand up against enemies face to face, avengers tend to strike with stealth, yet they do not have as many stealth skills as thieves. Avengers can also shout to inspire allies. They have hatred, which replaces warriors’ adrenaline.
Adventurer:
Bard
-Long Bow, Dagger, Sword, Warhorn, Torch
Similar to engineers’s kits, bards can use their instruments to perform various skills. Also, they can sing war chants to inspire allies.
Scholar:
Seer
-Focus, Staff, Scepter, Dagger
Seers can call out ancient heroes to fight for them through their prayers. (Seers’ spirits vary, depending on their races.) And then, I can’t think of anything else
I have just read The Wheel of Time series. And I would love to have something they called the Asha’man. Basically in MMO terms they would be a light armor melee class with magic at their disposal.
Not the stuff the guardian does, that’s all holy and benevolent and kitten. I want to waste destruction with my trusty sword and magic. You could give it different ways to be played. Each trait path would represent some playstyle.
Swordsmanship
Light Armor
Heavy Armor
Offensive Magic
Defensive MagicTo make it short, a sword/spear melee class
Alternatively I would love to see something spear focussed. I really miss halberds in this game. Make it a monk focussing on spears/halberds/bo-staffs and meditations
My two cents
Kinda like a Mageblade, or another term would be a Battlemage?
Guild Founder
Bring back the Ritualist theme. My concept here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/A-Wayfarer-Profession-Linking-Rits-and-Dervs/first#post1225936
I’d love to see some variant of the Ritualist come back – maybe include some ritualist-like traits come into the final realisation of the “chronomancer” from Utopia.
Either that or a Paragon (complete with throwing spears, OMG PLEASE).
Btw – those of you asking for a playable quaggan, I think there is a post somewhere where Ketaki Kokai says that it was so nice to design stuff for the quaggan because you didn’t have to ever think of them as a playable race – so you were free to do what you want.
I would propose a new Profession, called FARMER.
Since there’s lots of old tradition type of profession in all games, Farmer will be a new and interesting one.
Details:
Since we have so many different plants, animals around the world, Tyria, we should fully utilize them. When you explore the world, you will find lots of white name animals wandering around.
Farmer will fully utilize these elements.
Weapon:
Dagger, Sword, Axe, torch and maybe shortbow, or pistol.
I have no idea how or what the weapon skills works as, but as for Torch, I think its a must. It can throw roasted or cooked plants or meats. =)
Utility skills
Just like the other professions, we have Well, Corrupt, Mantra, Cantrips, Traps, Manipulation, and so on…
As for farmer, these are the utilities skills:
Plants
Animal ( or something related to those little animal)
Seeds
Food
Plants: Deadly Blossoms (something similar to TA exp poison flower)
then maybe few mortar thingy, but with different effect. (just like the sylvary story mode quest, you will need to throw some plants for different effect)
or maybe some vines…that will slow the targets.
Animal: Pig, rats, cat, rabbit, those white names animal you can find them around Tyria.
Farmer will “summon”, or call out these thing, to aid the fight ( a little bit like Necro’s minions)
but these summons can comes in pack, like 5 rats, or rabbits or so on. and can interrupt the fight.
Seeds: Something similar to Engineer’s mines. If someone who steps on the seeds, it will trigger some effect.
if no one triggers it, maybe it will turns into a plant or fruits, then the farmer can farms it, and eat it, for some boons effect.
Food: Farmer will throw their food on the target… (no idea about this idea >.<)
So basically these are the thought that i have in mind now, but Farmer, it will be one interesting profession.
cheers~~~

A Jedi/Sith-like profession would be amazing, since GW2’s combat system is the first one in an MMO which has the tactile and fast combat needed to do it properly.
I would love Hylek or Skritt, but I’ve been told that according to GW lore, Skritt and Hylek are too ‘primitive’ and are ‘lesser races’ not capable of higher cognitive thought, and thus not candidates for player characters.
Kodan, on the other hand, would make sense and are also armored bears which makes them automatically 100% kitten.
I think it would be kinda awkward to see a Kodan Ranger with a bear pet, don’t you think. Not saying they shouldn’t be player characters, but it’s pretty funny.
Yes. and bring with the Monk the holy trinity with its bads and goods.
it will be better than wht we have now which is nothing for roles.
I agree with the Monk class. That would be kitten. Since I’m a Kyokushin Karate competitor, it’s always awesome to be able to play a class that is similar to what you do in real life!
I also think a Swordmaster/Samurai would be cool too. New weapons would be awesome too like spears for land, polearms, 2hand axe, knuckle weapons, etc etc.
Tengu people would be pretty cool to play. But for once I would want to be able to play a reptilian race or some kind of hawkman/harpy race.
A Spellsinger or Bard type class.
Some games have amazing bard class like Forsaken world, rift and ragnarok i hope we can have the gw2 type, i think anet will do great job :P
I can imagine how great Anet could pull that class off. The trident for the Mesmer is my favorite underwater weapon in the game.
More magic Music notes please!!!
bard would have ranged weps like bows, harp, short range whip and buffs the group with boons and aoe heals
(edited by Altariel.4610)
No classes from GW1 will be included in future expansions. They pretty much combined all those classes. So that means they will either make up a new class from scratch, or take from other MMOs, probably the latter since it is customary. So I believe some kind of Death Knight class (Arah high sorcerer. Heavy armor, offensive magic user type of guy). Bard is possible. Some kind of Warlock class. I suspect that any future expansions will deal heavily with the lore. So maybe it will have something to do with using dragon energies. Like a dervish type of class, but instead of using the power of the gods, it would be of controlling the powers of the elder dragons. A sentry type of class. One that focuses on not moving or little movement for survivability.
I agree with posters who have said that there’s not really a lot of room to add new classes/professions and to have them be unique. The existing professions already have access to varied weapons and niche playstyles (melee, range, physical weapon melee, magic melee, physical range, magic range, aoe, single-target, boons, conditions, etc.) that it would be difficult to create a new class that isn’t just a rehash or watered-down version of ones we already have. That’s not to say that we can’t get something to add flavor, though. I just think the way to do that is going to be with weapon sets or utility skills.
For example. Add some new armor sets and some new weapons to a thief, and you can easily have the flavor from an assassin, ninja, or duelist: giving you the ability to further customize your existing thief and presenting new playstyle options.
For a bard: add some new weapons (maybe a lute, flute, or other instrument) to a mesmer, add a trait line and a few utility skills, and you have flavor like that of the bard.
For a shapeshifter/druid: give a ranger a staff or some kits like the ele weapon spells or the engi kits, and have these be different forms. Combined with the nature spirits the class already has, and you have something reminiscent of a druid.
Add spirit utility kits or new weapons to a necromancer, particularly in a Canthan expansion, and you have pieces of the ritualist back.
Dunno. I’m not against new professions if they’re done well, and most of the people in this thread can certainly imagine a few weapon sets for their new professions, but can we come up with enough of them for the professions to be viable without bleeding into existing professions? The bard, for example. Sure, give it a few instruments as weapons. Are those going to cover support, defense, and offense? Ranged and melee? Would you give the bard weapons that you’ve already given to other classes, too? A sword? A pistol? If you do, does it not begin to look like the mesmer?
As a race i agree only the Tengu and Kodan are viable options, since all the other races (that are allready ingame) are lesser races. Unless they add a completely new race ofcourse.
Kodan would be my personal choice because i like their spiritual side combined with their brute force-like appearence. That, and they’re talking polar bears, i mean, who doesn’t like that?
The only profession i want to see added would be a third soldier class, and i agree it should be a more “evil” or dark class. But it should be a completely new class and not a mash up of two old classes.
Because of that i was thinking something in the line of a blood mage with heavy armor, or a devil worshipper, who would have shapeshifting / demonsummoning attacks. Not demons or shapeshifting like ranger or necro pets, but more like mesmer phantasms but not as AI but as attack. Think like the ranger greatsword attacks which have an animal animation over them. Like that, but with demons.
So a very dark yet more religious or spiritual profession. And definitely heavy armor!
Jester – Hand of Blood [HoB]
Piken Square

They sort of did but classes like the ritualist and paragon could still stand on their own. I don’t see many guardians using spirit weapons and such as it is.
A sentry as you propose that focuses on not moving wouldn’t work. GW2 revolves around movement, specifically dodging red circles of instant death. As the class needs to do enough damage to solo it will be OP as it basically would nullify all boss tactics out there and still do enough damage. It would make everything too easy.
As much as I miss actual healers and tank classes, I do get why it wouldn’t work in GW2
Rather have 2 hand axes for warriors like in the picture before another profession is added. Anet u mis leaded me.
warrior and we’re the best class” Eugene
As for a class I would like a ritualist/dervish crossbreed (we can’t have pure dervishes anymore, seeing as their main concept of faith only refers to the human gods) but please, no scythes.
As for a race I can’t help to want to play Hylek.
Sincerely,
Khaz
I am of the opinion that introducing a new class is a bad idea though. The more classes you add, the harder it gets to balance and this is an exponential movement.
New Race: Skritt
New Class: Abbadon Cultist (Specializes in Chaos Magic and melee)
(we can’t have pure dervishes anymore, seeing as their main concept of faith only refers to the human gods)
There could be converts among the non-human races. There probably would be converts.
One word… LARGOS!!!!! I Would love to be one the curiosity kills me. it would be fantastic to know theyre inside story
You resurrected a five-month dead thread to not even keep to the correct topic??
/shaking head.
Dragon Hunter
The dragon hunter is a class who uses his body and emotions to fight.
He can do hard flaming punches, make his skin harder than steel, create crystal formations beneath the earth to rise above, focus his emotions and release a blast of electric storms through his mouth, summon forest vines to catch his enemies and many more things..
Dragon Hunters are infused with the power of the dragons, which is the new movement to strike back at the dragons!
Zhaitan is back, he never died when he fell through the mists and mountains, he was only injured and fell asleep. Now 2 years past he has awoken again! it’s time for the Dragon Hunters to strike back!
In a new raid instance, a big battlefield at ground and airships flying above. We need to prepare for war, soldiers are marching with weapons and machines and the last stand of Zhaitan and his army is near. We will be victorious!
This necro is so powerful.
/slowclap
My idea would be a Brawler. snip
I love the idea of a heavy armor brawler more than I feel I probably should. Of the current available weapons though, I would say maybe:
- shields (for their blunt whacking arm-extension kind of nature, and it would be incredibly interesting to see a shield/shield combo)
- focus (some of the skins here would just look superb with it – think of the chains or the beer mugs!)
- warhorn (for being boisterous during fights)
- pistol (so they have some form of range that doesn’t detract from the main punching-type show). If some ranged attacks worked into the other three, easily could be left out.
Adding some new ones (like the cestus/knuckles) would be sweet too. I’d love to see something a bit different for their F skills however, as opposed to just warrior-esque “extra skill” moves. If one where to try and feed off of current classes, I’d rather see it be akin to the elementalist, where you swap between stances/styles that provide different moves for your weapons.
For utilities, it could have a nice mix of possibilities. A line of debuff moves could be lined as “Taunts” (or a buff line as “Boasts”), an “Improvised Weapons” or “Zen/Chi/focus” line could have attack-oriented moves with some possible CC (stun, knockdown, weakness), or possibly a line that’s focused on blocks/counterattacks (as opposed to some of the thief/ranger moves that function as extra evasion).
Regardless, I love the idea of a Brawler in general. And totally agree about the Tengu. A Tengu Soldier class makes me think of Karas…
http://avsla-gw2.blogspot.com/
There is never going to be a expansion for GW2 EVER…
Just endless living story…
Now buy your gems and move along…
I want to see a “Dancer Class”, who is specialised on grpbuffs, grpdebuffs, midrange attacks with range weapons like whips and missile, and acrobatic (not who the thief but similiar)
My idea based on a para similiar class
-Charr Thief-
It’s good to be bad!
I have an idea, we should bring in the GiantDad class http://youtu.be/oyA8odjCzZ4
They don’t have a purely martial class in light or medium armor. The only real archer is stuck with an AI companion that is less than worthless in many areas. There is no medium armored spellcaster. I could probably think of more, but those are the obvious ones to me.
I would like to see the dervish return as a medium-armored spellcaster that can sacrifice boons for other advantages: damage spikes, fields, heal spikes, etc. That would be more like the dervish I remember.
I would also like to see an archer archetype that isn’t shackled to a pet. I wouldn’t mind pets so much if they actually worked properly, but they don’t; in fact, their lack of intelligent positioning and inability to dodge are gaping holes in the entire foundation of the GW2 ranger profession.
I’m almost certain that Anet plans on expanding the current classes weapon and skill choices rather than adding new classes.
I can’t really even think of a class that isn’t close to the eight already in the game.
Rather have 2 hand axes for warriors like in the picture before another profession is added. Anet u mis leaded me.
Huh..?
Can’t you… have two axes on your warrior..?

I think he means a single 2-handed axe.
Oh! Oh! Yeah, that’d be pretty cool. Or at least skins for hammers/GSes that were 2h Axes
Maybe a Necrothreader. I don’t have the details just yet but give me ten months and I"ll get back to you.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Maybe a Necrothreader. I don’t have the details just yet but give me ten months and I"ll get back to you.
5 months if traited? It’s skills could be sandwiches.
Seriously though my necro wants a 2-handed axe.
Until Anet separates balance between pve and pvp, I hope they don’t release another class.

That would never work, as Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption.
The Lancer : A new heavy armored class that can use polearms (Trident, Lance) in ground melee.
Mid range (600) attacks from melee, for a unique gameplay !
(edited by Antares.2586)
next profession?
a heavy weapons guy
soldier class
heavy armor (same as warrior, guardian)
high health (same as warrior, necromancer)
weapons
minigun
cannon
I’m almost certain that Anet plans on expanding the current classes weapon and skill choices rather than adding new classes.
I can’t really even think of a class that isn’t close to the eight already in the game.
I just gave 2…
ill make a 55hp monk again lol and solo arah explore
Black Gate
Ruthless Legend
too much to read, not sure if its been mentioned but i think a “Dragoon” class with be fitting, polearms, bring in greataxes. havent thought of it too indepth but even if its more of a dragon hunter thatd be cool, even though id rather have a tiny dragon pet >.>
For a new race they should do the skritt. For a new profession they should do a monk but base it off the famous shaolin monk. Give them hook swords, spears (that aren’t used for throwing,) stakitten (that don’t project anything but whack heads insead.) Make them a light armor melee class. That would be interesting to play.
Ok…previewed this before I posted it and it keeps changing stakitten to stakitten so…??? Oh well.
Ok it did it in the ps…so…stakitten…those things paragon’s threw at people in gw1.

Lol. I have no idea what word you are trying to use but you can get around the forum filter mangling your word by putting a ’ in it. Like: dragon bakittenhink to dragon bash’ I think.
