Definitely true. You definitely notice the difference between the weekend warriors and the tryhards. During the week you basically queue into the same people over and over, during weekends the variety is a lot larger.
Mesmer and Guardians were minor traits, Ele requires a 2 point investment and engi a 4 point investment for 50% uptime (it’s bottlenecked by speedy kits). That’s probably the reasoning behind it. Thief can also have permavigor with a 6 point investment but you don’t see much of accro lately. Eles access to vigor is probably undervalued yeah.
oh no! pve will be unbalanced! whatever shall we do
Like 9-10 games in soloq. I kittened off to teamq for like a week.
If there weren’t any obvious map mechanic-related throws like those you’d instead be noticing all the games that are thrown by pants-on-head rotations,
Why don’t we have our leaderboard rank and leaderboard points in the statistics section of the pvp menu? I mean, I wouldn’t mind if I could calculate how many points I won myself but we don’t have the expected match result, so we can’t. It seems really awkward that we have to go out of the game AND wait an hour between every update.
all points will tick 1 point.
Not if u want to play d/d…
then don’t play d/d??
you could simply make the rank finishers new colors in prestige mode. i would go for that. silver phoenix, red dragon, rainbow rabbit, i’m up for it.
it’s always been fifteen seconds in queues. afaik hotjoin is still wave, unranked and ranked are 15s.
make it only appear to people who duo/trio q, a kind of segregation thing. that way you can have deathmatch duo quo without cluttering the UI too much ^^
Oops. My bad.
hangs head in shame
don’t! it’s one of those “it’s a feature not a bug” ;D
im gonna have to watch this muted for the first twenty minutes because class
hopefully they have a long intro…
That means for elementalists there’s missing arcane healing
no it isn’t. it’s missing a cantrip heal.
why rabid? precision is kind of a wasted stat in this build, carrion and settlers and celestial are all better options. flame auras are nice, but you don’t really need them, and it’s… inadvisable to play pvp without at least 4water/4arcana. so i would recommend not going for any points in fire.
you don’t need diamond skin or cleansing water. if you’re scared of condition damage, you could pick up rock solid in earth so you can run ether renewal without worrying about interrupts. it will work, but it’s not as offensive as it could be. i would recommend putting 2 of those water points in arcana for elemental attunement, and change water IX with X. with s/f you can always go for stone heart, since you can safely stack bleeds with its autoattack, but really going 6 in earth isn’t necessary.
i am so hype you guys have no idea.
It’s wave. Everyone will respawn at the same time if dead.
that’s hotjoin, not the queues. it’s 15s for everyone on the queues.
Can I ask what the default setting is for SoloQ/TeamQ?
I imagine it is set to Individual respawn?
15s, individual.
How about placing an NPC with a new icon in the “main” map for each region, and the NPC would tell you about what you could earn in that region’s track. He would also queue you and return you without having to go through the PvP Panel. Like the activity npc, kinda?
it’s a veto screen, i can just feel it.
Are you still looking for eles? I main ele, but I play engi and thief as well.
monthly reminder that we would really appreciate bunny ears back, even if only for a short period of time or in a bundle or something.
there are no tiers bro, that’s just an embarrassed, salty dude trying to save face.
And what happens if you don’t want to play another game with that group?
Well, that’s why I said you get the option to do so. Like, in halo, you pressed X to do it. You could get a prompt which asks “Wanna remain in this party?” and gives you the option to accept/decline.
wouldn’t it be cool if you got a thing like in halo, where you can choose to keep your team in soloq? i mean, instead of throwing you all back out, you get the option to stay in the party with whoever else wants to stay too. and after a few wins you get thrown in teamq.
If you want a more survivable S/x build just take cele over zerk with the 06044 build. But it’s sort of pointless. If you want burst you’re going to have to accept you can’t facetank stuff.
^you can interrupt all of those except for withdraw. mantra cast is ridiculously easy to interrupt. like, ether renewal easy.
unless you’re complaining about not being able to interrupt the passives of heal/resto sigs, which is just ???
yeah, it’s a known thing. you can stack like 90s burning by using arcane power and drake’s breath, but then you’d have to take arcane surge.
it’s not good.
gr8 b8 m8 i r8 it 8/8
why would you run an aura’s build with so few access to them? d/d has 3 without needing to take any points in fire.
auras in general aren’t strong enough to build around them.
monthly reminder that we would really appreciate bunny ear back for a weekend or something.
bring back bunny ears.
that is all.
So I got to thinking about the alacrity traits and came up with this idea.
This is actually a really good idea! I think even without the attunement recharge reduction it would be a strong set of traits. I imagine extending this in such a way that all utilities would have a secondary utility type which would correspond with their element (i.e mist form would be a secondary water type, signet of earth would be earth, etc) and then have traits that enhance those elemental utilities in some way. For example, a master trait that affects water-spell would, for instance, make them remove chilled or grant regen when activated. A theoretical grandmaster trait in this vein would, for example, change earth shield to instant cast, so it would function sort of like kits. So it would in the end be beneficial to run something like, armor of earth, signet of earth and earth shield.
Well said. I don’t think the weighted RNG is being ignored. It is an elegant solution that both caters to the masses and doesn’t ignore the minority.
It’s an interesting solution from a design standpoint, but how can it be implemented in such a way that the player doesn’t feel it’s just an unnecessary barrier between them and the game? I think weighted RNG has more of a chance to be frustrating than straight RNG, and it would be clutter as it is essentially the same result as now. Note that the current system isn’t bad, it’s just that it needs about twice the maps to be as smooth as it could be, such that you don’t get the same map several times in a row.
As it has been commented on prior by some, an fps-style veto option, like the one in the old Halo 3*, could work. If any one map “always gets skipped” when it’s on the first screen, it would balance out when any of the other maps get skipped (which they will). A weighted RNG system just doesn’t seem compatible with a competitive gametype, it sounds more Mario Party than Starcraft.
*: You are presented with map and gametype, one chance to veto, next map is rng and un-vetoable. If you have some time, I would recommend checking out the Halo 3 matchmaking. I haven’t seen a better system since, and it came out 6 years ago now.

What if you don’t care what map you play on in a vote system? Should there be a ‘pass’ or ‘vote random’?
.
Not voting should be allowed. Like in dungeons, it doesn’t really matter if one member doesn’t vote, it still goes with highest number. In case of ties (like 4 forest 4 legacy 2 skyham), it should go random between the ones with highest votes, so random between forest and legacy. If it’s 9 khylo 1 skyham, it would go khylo.
Btw, I don’t think uneven matches in Skyhammer is the proper metric to be looking at, since it’s hard to tell afkers who don’t disconnect and just hang around map or cap a point and go away. Instead look at the classes played in Skyhammer in ranked. Those with KB and pulls should be overrepresented.
Would this work as a pre-match filter for matchmaking, or as a map vote system?
Map vote is way better. Pre-match filter is just going to make it so queues take longer.
@infantrydiv, we could list individual stats for days, but what kind of features would you like on the scoreboard? Sorting? Comparisons? Histories? Live updates for spectators?
You know, for the end of match scoreboard, why not make it fullscreen a la Halo? Since there are so many possible stats to show, then I think it makes sense to direct a players attention to them in this way. You could even make it a part of the loading screen for the exit button, to make it non-intrusive. Also, histories would be great. I sometimes miss the scoreboard on some games and I find the info useful to analyze my plays. Even a limited one, past game, past five, past ten, would be really cool.
