Normally: When you have a target selected and you are running away (facing away) and you use Shortbow 3 (disabling shot) your character performs an animation that is quickly turning and shooting back at your target but evades in the direction you were running (away from your target).
With Action Cam: When you lock a target (right click) and run away from your target and use shortbow 3… you just awekwardly shoot in front of you and evade backward toward your target.
I hope this makes sense to everyone as I know most people don’t even realize thief can normally do this, but it is VERY helpful and action cam stops it from working.
EDIT: I found that using the “look behind” hotkey before using SB 3 allows it to work properly, but that’s almost to difficult to be worth it. Very clunky feeling and can not see where you are going. Useful to do it this way only if the target is too far away to see what you need to evade (long distance projectile)

So it seems like Hidden Thief activates blinding powder when you steal on a target, granting allies stealth and blinding the enemy. Don’t know if this was intended or not but it’s also bugged such that it activates according to Blinding Powder’s CD. For example, if you use steal twice with reduced Steal CD blinding powder won’t proc the second time. Hopefully this is fixed because I actually loved that trait.
They just gotta @#$%’ing break Hidden Thief somehow. I love how they mentioned they were reverting changes in pre-release patch notes but then they go ahead and leave it in there with a glaringly obvious oversight like this.
If nothing else, this kind of trash is proof that Anet does not playtest their garbage before releasing it. They definitely don’t pay attention to thieves on top of that, this is more proof. I mean, they gave DA a buff, it’s a solid line for burst thieves. CS supports that further but that’s really it for changes. Acro sucks now and SA really hasn’t changed much, aside from more bugs / broken traits / even nerfs to Shadow’s Embrace. So the changes are amazing for burst thieves, and that’s it really. You can’t say they buffed condi thieves because poison stacking is a global change.
On top of that, I’m almost certain that Mug + Hidden Thief still has a chance to just auto reveal you, on top of the fact now it just doesn’t stealth you if you don’t wait 40 seconds for it’s kittened ICD to pop up thanks to WTF went wrong coding. So either kitten yourself by waiting to steal or steal and don’t get the benefit of the trait because genius :B
To be honest I’d rather have an unbuffed Hidden Thief that doesn’t have this ridiculous ICD because it’s not like the blinding powder even blinds your target. It just does a blast finisher on steal, that’s really about it. Why did they even try with this considering it’s obvious how little effort they put into it upon release. -.-
Yeah, it’s not like using steal as soon as you can after it’s off CD isn’t useful or anything, especially if you run something like mug, improvisation and sleight of hand or bewildering ambush, but considering the new bug with Hidden Thief, hahaha … again this trait gets rekt. Awesome, just, awesome.
I’d like to + 1million this.
All I’ve done is switched some builds around and purposely tested the trait to discover this. Its like they throw some changes at a class and hope it works and rely on us to do their job for them and report the bug and then maybe they will fix it in 3 years.
I’ve seen FotM level 50 groups in LFG that state “no black wings” so clearly this is a problem.
I don’t know how those black wings even made it into the game tbh. Money>quality of the game? idk
if you face rejection at each and every occasion, do you ever wonder maybe it´s not really about them…
Yeah I’ve never been kicked, neither has my wife when she started an account with no AP and joined dungeon groups.
Also, why is this in the Living World section? You’ll get more responses in the correct section just like you will more groups keeping you if you fit the description of the LFG.
Sounds like what I have found with TNO. Took me two years to find this guild.
Feel free to mail/PM me with any questions.
Also, if you decide to join put my name as a referral in the app please :-)
That looks so much better than the chaos skin… why was this not the chaos skin lol
…As long as players are given 2+ weeks for something that takes 5-10 hours. I realize not all people play every day, also it is not a required achievement for those lacking the playtime/skill/patience.
Yeah I’d like to see more achievements like this TBH
I’ve already got 35/100 in a little under 70 games played. I think it’s nice that there are achievements that other people can’t complete.
So basically, over the next 2 weeks, players are supposed to put in 20 hours in Dragon Ball to get this? Or, want to play Dragon Ball for about 1.5 hrs per day, even? Considering how nausea and rage inducing Dragon Ball can be, I think that’s a bit much to ask for 5 AP.
There are many WAY more time consuming achievements for 5AP.
I’ve been getting 1-5 per game and trying to win. I just focus on getting Dragon Kick (as well as other skills) and if I get low I try to run and heal to not lose skills. 70 done in about 40 games or so. Not that bad really.
Thank you, when I first checked there I saw nothing.
I missed pax south live on twitch, but I saw a post on Twitter that the recording would be available later for those, like me, that missed it.
Is this available anywhere yet, and if not, when and where will I be able to watch this? Thank you.
How has this still not been fixed? Cant be that hard to adjust the chances of items dropping.
GW2 Launch birthday it might come back. They did it last year, lots of old items available spread out over a week or two to celebrate gw2 launch birthday.
No, I have only done two fractals this entire week, a 49 and then a 40, both this afternoon.
Scrolling way down you see the fractal daily reward brackets are:
1-10
11-20
21-30
31-40
41-50
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fractals_of_the_Mists
Question:
My personal reward level is 50. Today I ran a level 49 fractal and got a daily chest. I then ran a level 40 fractal, and got no daily chest. Why is this? I am positive those are the only two fractals I did. If I run a 50, and then a 40, I get a daily chest. It does not coincide with the known brackets of fractal runners (which also matches the wiki). Has anyone else had this happen? I would try again after reset, but I am not sure I want to run another level 49 and 40 to get nothing again from the 40.
That’s all I could think the whole time… “Does this person think they are the only person that matters? Do they honestly think GW2 should change its release of content based on JUST their work schedule?”
People really need to start thinking of others and how the world works, not just complaining all the time and worrying about themselves. I wish OP didn’t say it was for work, because then I could give them the benefit of the doubt that they are a child. (based on absolutely horrible grammar/spelling, and how self centered (childish) of a post they took the time to make.
None of my group has got it in 40+ yet.
Been running with people that have already done 30 or more level 30+ fractals since patch. Amount of skins seems about the same as before the patch (with chances slightly higher at higher level) but none of us have got the box where you can pick a skin. I am guessing that is rather rare like the ascended weapon boxes.
To give you an idea, since I have been doing fractals I have found about 15 fractal weapons and 1 ascended box.
Wait I need to farm hundreds of fotm 10 before! I am so glad this game rewards me for my farming skills!
I think I am just going to speed up the process by buying thousands of AR at the TP then I will level up by doing only fotm 40/50, instabilities are too difficult.
Oh actually I am going to need some gold… Alright then I am just going to go champion farming (got mad skills for that) and then the TP will pave they way to high Fotm for me! That’s the way to go!
You sir, are a next level troll.
@OP… Do a little research and you may find there are other mechanics in place that make level 50 not possible, other than the 70AR required mistlock. Or talk to Minty in game, he knows more about it I believe.
(edited by Adinay.2589)
lol there is nothing that says you ahve to do fractals. Please do not remove the only content in the game that is even remotely challenging. Stop whining and stay out of fractals and go back to your “1,1,1,1,1,1” zerged events.
Yeah we figured you guys were ahead of us… Our group was almost a static 3, while adding friends or a PUG to fill. One of us never stopped and I think hit 50 just before you, others of us just hit 50 or are close now. I am the lowest of our small fractal guild at level 42.
EDIT: For being a kitten and not saying congrats… Congrats guys! Well done.

Thief is harder to play in instances PvE than other classes (dungeons and fractals) however it can be extremely rewarding. The problem is all the bad thieves out there….
However I have been playing thief since beta and have never been kicked for being a thief. I also have gotten several compliments for saving the group time and effort. “See this is why I like thief” “wow a good thief is actually awesome” etc.
I am by no means the only one, but making the point that when you know what to do where, and play well, it is probably the most rewarding class out there. Do your research, not as much on builds as on encounters. Learn the tricks.
Feel free to whisper me in game. Not the guide writing kind of person. Or just research, all the information is out there, nothing I do is secret.
Tried going for 100% critical rate on a Warrior/Ranger combination. Ranger with Spotter, Warrior with banner, you get the idea, point is that 100% critical rate is actually 100% critical rate. There does not seem to be a cap (would be weird considering Hidden Killer bumps your critical rate up to 100% and then having it fail?).
Makes, sense, thanks bud.
I have been told two different things from players I respect.
“No cap, you can get to 100%”
“There is a hard cap of 95%, even though your character window will show over 95%”
Which is true? I have seen in a few different guides that 95% crit is the hard cap. I can not test it myself, other wise I’d get 100% crit and go hit something 500 times and see if I see any non-crits.
Thanks in advance.
Zerg play is just 1 1 1 1 1 Win anyway. Just want it to look nice :-P
…..
15-20 FPS in large zergs on medium settings under 1,300? Possible?Zerg play FPS is far more complex than just “can the hardware handle this”…..your internet connection bandwidth and latency to the server plays a HUGE role in this answer (more in terms of skills lagging than video FPS). If you skills are lagging, the smoothest video in the world won’t help you.
I understand skill lag being there due to the connection in the hotels I constantly play in on this laptop, which is why I don’t care to spend a ton of money just to get perfect framerate. But I do want to be able to not feel like I am playing in a picture flip book (or worse)
I will not be doing an 48 fractals. Just want to do some Living World stuff while I am out. So again, just worried about the hardware not skill lag.
Thanks for the replies! I will look into what all of you have suggested.
I should have added : I don’t need it to perform like my desktop does 40FPS in zergs. But if I’m usually at 20 FPS in zergs on medium settings I would be happy. The idea is that the laptop keeps me busy and playing gw2 so I have something to do while I am gone, I can wait to be spoiled by my desktop when I get home.
15-20 FPS in large zergs on medium settings under 1,300? Possible?
I am going to be traveling a lot for work. I am spoiled and used to getting 40+ FPS even in zergs. This being said I need a laptop because I’m am going to be traveling for weeks at a time for work, and would like a laptop while in all the hotels.
I looked on newegg and found some I liked for 1,300+ but I am wondering if there is a laptop I could rock medium settings and spend half the above amount?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the off topic but this isn’t the only RNG way to get skins. Look at fractal skins. You can farm forever and not get the correct rare skin you want. I know someone that’s got almost all of them except the one he wants, some multiple times.
Being overly sensitive to mockery is probably not the best thing if you wish to post on any forums anywhere.
Zehidel added quite a bit to the topic. Maybe you are upset because the person does not agree with you?
So then you are asking if… a mining pic will work on a mining node, or a axe will work on a tree node , or a sickle will work on a plant node? You see were I’m going with this?
“…and has the same efficency as an Orichalcum [Fill in blank for each tool] "
What about the next nodes that come out?
Again, you provide absolutely nothing to the conversation. Take your horrible attitude elsewhere please.
I don’t have a side. I have a question. And his answer was to mock me and with no evidence as to why he was right. I’d say that adds nothing. The person I said made a good point would be on the same “side” as Zehidel, except that he didn’t say it was one way or another in a mocking way, he simply said why he expected what he expected and made a good point. Zehidel was nothing but sarcastic and unhelpful.
So you went from saying he added a lot to the topic, to realizing you were wrong, and just calling me sensitive? lol… you guys are funny.

They’ve never answered the question because doing so would basically confirm their far off plans of how the game will be expanded. The next tier of gathering nodes would either have to be extremely rare (horizontal) or above level 80 (vertical progression). With the way they’re currently going however, there won’t be any higher tier nodes for quite a while, since they’re basically skipping a tier with how they’re doing T7 materials. If they continue in that direction, there will never be any new nodes, and a T8 material would be extremely grindy and take weeks to make (imagine having to make a charged, charged quartz crystal).
The tools were advertised as permanent orichalcum equivalent tools. The other reason they won’t say is because they won’t be upgraded. There’s a big difference between telling someone that as they’re going to buy it, which would basically be telling them not to buy it, and telling them a year from now when an expansion comes out and they’re more likely to accept it, since that’s what expansions do.
I think you, sir, Have hit the nail on the head.
Not going to buy the tools.
so many people?? Your post is the first time I ever heard of that concern, in game or on any website. They are not especially popular because the price is rather high for an item that offers just a small amount of “quality of life”.
If I had it in me I might go find all the posts and link them. Maybe tonight xD
I assure you there are tons of people and lots of posts asking about this.
I also have heard people asking in map chat a few times.
I found the unlimited gathering tools to be a worthwhile purchase. I spend a significant portion of my play time in non-level 80 zones so I would previously keep tools of multiple tiers on hand. In some cases multiple tools of multiple tiers. This would tie up more of my inventory space than I liked.
- Just use orichalhum pick for everything. If the materials you collect are worth more than 4 copper on trading post, you’re good.
Some people like the animation and not having to go buy them ever again.
These two responses contradict one another:
You need to have purchased every unique cultural armor item once. That means you need one character of every race (but not every armor type, as the race can purchase all three armor types, but can only equip the correct type.
I believe you need to buy 1 piece of each cultural armor of each tier for each part. So I understand you need to buy a full set of either Heavy, medium, light, armor pieces from each tier from each race. I don’t believe it needs to be a specific set but you can’t buy a medium chest t3 and a heavy chest t3 to have it count.
So, 6 pieces of each tier, Tier 1, 2, and 3, for each race for each part(head, shoulder, chest, hand, leg, feet.) 18 pieces total per race.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/FashionAdinay is implying you need to purchase light, medium and heavy and all 3 tiers of all 5 races (270 items total) while CreativeAnarchy is stating you need to purchase light, medium or heavy of all 3 tiers and 5 races (90 items).
CreativeAnarchy is correct according to the wiki which states “Soulbind 90 unique pieces of cultural armor.” for the title. Don’t purchase all armour types, only one of each tier.
Thank you for this.

I was under the impression that tier 7 mats would be crafted using tier 6 mats or something of the sort. Is there any indication at all that tier 7 mats will come from gathering nodes ?
They said in the blog that T7 mats would be crafted from lower tier mats.
Thanks for the clarification. I would imagine, though, that new zones / continents will have higher level materials. IF that happens, will this investment in the 3 tools be worth it and still work.

Then you are asking the wrong question. IT WILL work on all gathering nodes, you just want to know if t7 mats will be gathered via nodes. Delete this thread and remake one asking the right question, or you are going to get off topic posts 99% of the time.
Ummm…. lol. No. I dont care how T7 mats are gathered. I want to know if the gathering tools were designed with the intention of working on all nodes even nodes that will need to be gathered in the future.
This is my last reply to you as I forsee this turning into an argument over nothing and you provide nothing to the conversation that is useful.

Have not seen anything on this. Mostly trying to clarify their intentions on the gem store item gathering tools. The answer to your question would somewhat answer mine, but what about “T800” as previous mentioned, or whatever you gather in full expansions?
They obviously will, why in the hell wouldn’t they? I mean a mining node is a mining node no matter if its t1 or t6, t7 or t800. Come on man.
INB4: Hey Go-Guys Check make sure to buy the new Super mining pick from the gem store for 800 schec..gems, Its the only pick tough enough to handle T7 materials!
But i severely doubt it.
We can argue why it is or is not worth it, the point is it is unclear, and ever since the first tool was released it has been a question if it will cover all nodes forever. Yes, I agree it really should, as I stated because they cost a lot. The point is to clarify it so a few people that are a little hesitant to buy will then buy it.
For feedback on the fact thakittens not that convenient, or its not worth it… Yeah I know, that’s why I’m on the fence on buying it or not. Tell me for sure it will be good for T7 mats or mats in an expansion, and I’m not on the fence any more, I’m buying it.
Thanks for the “Come on man” though. Helpful.
So many people are not buying the permanent gathering tools from the Black Lion Trading Company because they are afraid Tier 7 materials, or an expansion will negate these tools.
If we knew these tools would always work on all gathering nodes in GW2, so many of us would buy them in a heartbeat (Which they should, because they are 800 Gems each)
That’s 2,400 Gems for the set, which is currently 140 gold or 35 dollars. I think because of the cost of getting all 3 people assume it will work in expansions.
Please answer so you can get more money and we can buy our tools. If I knew these tools would be good forever I’d prob drop 50 bucks for gems right now.
As long as you know the fight you can do it many ways. The common ground between the different options is at least a little bit of extra mobility, mostly because of phase 2.
Again the main thing is knowing the fight, knowing where you need to be next, and start kiting to that position before you need to be there. I watched a warrior do this once in Rifle and rarely even dodge, with just constant movement.
Personally I traited for extra endurance and to lose cripple on evade in case she ever hit me with her whip (Ideally just don’t get hit)
If you get nothing from my tips at least do this:
Ignore what other guides say about kiting around the outer part of the arena. You want to kite in a circle about halfway toward the outside, this way you can quickly reach the next safe area as the one you are on becomes unsafe. To again reference the warrior I saw, he was kiting in a circle close enough to the center to where he was just running backwards while shooting and rarely dodging.
You run D/P.
That answer isn’t intended to be dismissive, but it’s really the only answer, unless you want to sacrifice good utilities for those that might slow your target down a bit (though they’ll likely have escapes for those as well).
D/P is superior to D/D in every single way in the current meta.
With my little WvW knowledge I would still agree with this. I just don’t WvW often enough to make my build optimal, and I still think if you go D/D (knowing it isn’t optimal) The other two above posts from us are still viable answers.
I almost always use acrobatics VI (fleet shadow) In WvW as a D/D+SB Thief with heavy burst potential with a little in acrobatics and/or shadow arts. If you can land a heart seeker and stay on top of them for a second land a CnD and keep up with them for a backstab and take a skill like blinding powder if you need it to stealth for that +50% move speed for 4 seconds.
Sometimes staying with the target isnt as important as the target not knowing where the heck you are.
I’m not on TC, nor much of a puzzle-jumper, so I probably wouldn’t be your cup of tea. I do play every day around that time, and other times, as well. Been here since beta, and not going anywhere.
My suggestion, for you, is to try posting in the Players Helping Players subforum. Probably get lots more responses there. Of course, this thread may be moved there, anyway. Good luck to you, and happy gaming. =)
I only do puzzles for achievement points / title.
My main objectives are end game PvE (fractals, dungeons, ect)
Completing every queens gauntlet achievement was a nice challenge.
