He brought justice upon the zurg farmers.
I started killing the champs in queensdale when it was still a thing, my reaction to continous griefing, calling everything in speedclears exploit and the nerfs that were done in response to the QQ of the bad player army.
Making events fail on purpose, even though you have the neccesary amount of players and the event not beeing “grenth temple level”, even antagonizing players who want to finish the event, just so you can “farm” it is exploiting. Both game mechanics and other players.
The wannabe elitism of these “self proclaimed casuals” (in reality no casual, but bad) and their hypocrisy, in that they call themselves a “nice community” while slandering dungeon players as elitist is obvious. But oh well, they’re the majority.
Why it bothers people? Because they (rightfully IMO) think that consistency is important in a game.
If you want your game to have a comprehensible combat design, having to check wether certain skills do or do not work, or even worse only sometimes work is bad, something to not-have, something to avoid as much as you can.
Would you like to use renewed focus and have a bosses say “don’t care, die” half of the time?
Would you like to explore wether you can dodge a certain attack or harm an oponent with a certain attack all the time?
I think not.
Also what often times looks like an “easy or unnecessarily fast kill” often times requires a lot of setup or RNG in order to be “faster” than just spiking it down with whatever conjure you want.
In my opinion there are a couple of general directions you can aim for when doing dungeons.
Number 1: The “everything goes” PUG. No matter what the advertisement is, you’ll face suboptimal builds and playstyles most of the time. If your don’t really care about that, for what ever reason noone should judge you, any class and any build is fine, as long as you enjoy playing it and are confident to finish a dungeon with (which is common to the other options too, don’t get me wrong). You might need to grow a thick skin, or just have some masochistic traits in order to get along with the “kitten” that get’s thrown at you from all sides, zerkers, elitists, kittens and baddies, so be warned.
Number 2: Running dungeons with a group of people you know (rl-friends, random stranger friends, guildmates, guild friends). Unlike pugging, you’ll know with what kinds of builds, mentalities and playstyles you’ll have to deal with. According to that you can choose your prefered build. For example if you enjoy playing with pvt tanks in your group, going for a full zerker build might not be the best choice, since you’ll be more likely to die during encounters (maybe you’ll still end up doing more damage than them, but that’s not what counts). If you chose this direction you should play what suits you and your group best. If you can’t agree with what your group is doing, you may have to look for another one.
Number 3: Speedclearing for records or for gold. If aim for that direction you should really look for a good group or guild. Speedclear PUGing is the most stupid thing you can do (it’s inconsistent, and consistency is one of the most important things when it comes to scs). In that case you should have an elementalist, a warrior, a guardian and/or a thief with proper builds and consumables.
These are the general directions for me, chose whichever you think is most enjoyable and you’ll be going with and don’t be afraid to switch between them later on.
You may find yourself pending between two categories, in that case, go with the one you think you’ll be doing more of (friends wont always have time, so you might PUG on occasions/sometimes “kezual” friends ask you to join one of their runs, you shouldn’t refuse just because you’re in a speedrunning guild/etc.).
My general advice would be going with option number two. Look for like minded people, even if you want to speedrun and especially if you’re new.
A lot of high end speedrunning guilds have high expectations, so you’d be able to meet them before applying.
Other guilds may pretend to be speedrunning guilds (or casual/friendly/insertwhatyouwanthere), while in reality just practicing toxic behaviour, zerker elitism aswell as baddie elitism alike, if you know what to look out for you’ll have an easier time to distinguish between where you do and don’t want to be.

I lost intrest in this game around the new year mark. That was the point when a couple of my friend also quit the game.
I came back when some idiots in the warrior forum were claiming bullkitten about PS builds.
I wanted to do some wvw back then, but my motivation quickly died due to having to face zergwars2 multiple weeks in a row.
The tournament of dungeon legends gave me back some intention to play, but after that I lost my internet connection for a couple of weeks and haven’t logged back in.
The reason why I quit the game is simple: The lack of challenging content. Catering to baddies (not casuals, playing casual doesn’t mean beeing bad at the game) for the majority of time, even robbing players of their achievements and replacing more and more parts of the game with passive stats/effects to let thy autoattack be the ruler of all.
Having no good solution for pvp vs pve mechanics(split, different stats, different scaling etc.pp.) and neglegting, even ridiculing wvw, it’s balance and matchmaking made the pvp part boring too.
Lastly lazy fixes of glitches and bugs (invisible walls and such) instead of really getting to the root of evil made “exploration” in arah nigh impossible while still allowing fancy exploiters to skip 90% of the bosses, including lupicus.
My hobby dungeon explorer is, even after 2k-3k hours of playtime at 0. I never bother to finish dungeon master, since I don’t think that title deserves to exsist.
Spider Queen impossibru now pls nurf
? ? ?_? ?? GIFF AC AETHERPATH ? ? ?_? ??
What is lfg description? New consumable? Does it cost gems? Exploit???
Maybe cap the amount of hits that get reflected? The numbers aren’t terribly high, 20-30k-ish, I remember the mesmers usually hitting for even more damage (with vuln, banners, etc.), but not beeing able to kill lupi with just feedback damage alone.
Or hey, how about making reflections scale with the reflection players power instead of the source.
But no, we can expect to see awesome fixes just like with the TA spider, making mesmers, engis and guardians worse.
Thanks for crying.
Now that i have calmed down and remembered the situation quite deeply i did say more things that were rude so the party got hesistant that im the one bringing the problems, since i whined the most .So that they would not have to deal with that they decided to kick me and also because that i am not familiar with meleeing the berserker only. So it was actually maybe 2 times or 1 that we failed instead of 3 i guess i started becoming impatient for some reason but anyway it was half my fault too but still kicking me on the last fractal was pretty childlish since when we went on my tactics we were actually owning the boss. Still the advice from this situation is keep your mouth shut.
Even if you were a little whiny and tactless, no one with any sense of decency should think that’s enough of a reason to kick you on the last kitten fractal.
Well as the saying goes… you reap what you sow.
I can fully understand people beeing very short tempered aswell as reluctant to kick anyone they deem to be a scumbag casual (warning:bait), even if the person really isn’t and the circumstances don’t really justify a kick.
After all we had to put up with people calling “berserker is exploiting”, “active defense op”, “make anti stack AI” and all the wonderful, marvelous, heartwarming rocks anet threw in our way and on our feet in order to “combat the zerker issue”.
I do have to disagree with one thing though, I personally think Lupi not using the thunderdome on meleeing characters is an AI issue since if you move around at his feet he still will do it, its only when people don’t move that he doesn’t use it. That isn’t exactly the behavior of a ranged only attack.
You’re wrong with your assumptions. Even if you don’t move lupi can still dome you.
The attack has a minimum range, just like the spider queens poison spit once was. It is not triggered by movement, but only by range.
Granted the range window is a bit short considering lupis large hitbox and the general enemy AI which will try to always stay out of 1-2 players hitboxes (chosen at random) can lead to your assumption.
On a general note, before some kitten makes a point for “domes should hit melee to fix zerker problemerino”. Having mechanics that only “hate” on certain playstyles is a good thing to have, change them to “hate” on every playstyle are likely to make that playstyle unviable from the start (see meleeing spider queen in low damage groups), which is a bad thing.
One of the biggest problem gw2 has is that it’s bosses are extremely lacking in terms of abilities. A trashpack consisting of 4 mobs with 2 major abilities each will pack a larger threat to a group than most bosses. Look at bosses like the slave driver in cof1. How many skills does he have? Even if you factor in the effigy you can count the amount of mechanics of this fight with one hand, after you stuck it in a sawmill. The same goes for the final boss. For a game which combat style was supposed to be all around “action” and “activeness” having 4 “skills” are a joke.
Solving this “zerker issue” as people call it wont take adding more melee hate, that will just hurt player who want to melee, or updates to the movement AI, which would be broken within less than a week, that I can predict.
It would take massive improvements in terms of boss design (way beyond marionette, aetherpath or anything so far in the living story, updates to the “margin” melee detection works in, after all the reason why you “had” to stack in a corner for the spider queen was the fact that even a slight “error”, wether it’s due to a movement ability or the “don’t stay in my box AI” would let her spit poison. It would aslo take a lot of updates in terms of how stats work and trait/buff design (300 range for most buffs is just too small to make rangeing effective, also a lot of “unique buffs” are just too lacking in terms of their overall impact).
Because kitten beeing able to see kitten.
I want to have my permanent companion (stowable), 3 greathammer wielding phantasms (cc+critz), permastealth, condition imunity when >90% and <80% hp, burst combos for 35k damage (armor ignoring and within <1s ofc), insane healskill independant sustain, at least 3 teleports, 4 weaponsets, 14 extra skillpoints, fear damage, spammable boon stealing along with having every boon at max stacks/duration and an extra block/evade every second.
The OP said warriors have everything, so it must be true.
Edith: Forgot to mention I want my pocket FGS, but with less cd and more pew pew pl0x
In my opinion the tournament was a great success looking at the viewer count.
As for the rez rule: In my opinion there needs to be some change made to it. That does not mean however that I think beeing able to rez should be allowed (IMO no rez should be allowed at all), however the teams shouldn’t be asked to complete the path even though the other team wiped.
We saw it happen for a couple of times and tbh. the runs turned out to be quite boring to watch.
So my suggestions are:
- No rez rule: If one team wipes, it is defeated, no matter where the other team is at the moment. The other team gets informed that they won the respective path and we move on to the next round.
- Rez “allowed”: A team can reset the dungeon any time they want (wipe, bug, player die, severe case of kittens). The amount of allowed resets may or may not be limited.
My reasons: Like I already said, it’s kind of boring to watch players beeing “forced” to complete a path without wiping. As soon as you get the message that the other team choked you’d be inclined to go for “super safe strats” like wearing clerics and 5 man ranging even the most easy of bosses, since you can’t lose due to time anyway.
The second suggestion comes from the fact, that resetting a dungeon (i.e. kicking the host, reinviting, rejoining, chosing the path, listening to possible RP from 300pound Chernobyl kitties and having “crucial skills” on cooldown, like FGS, Banner, Portal, Timewarp etc. will put you way behind already.
Overall I’d like option one more, just to show that the tournament is not all about speed, but about safe execution.
Regarding Brazils post:
While it is true that we had a couple of players in our group that have this kind of “soloyolo” and “notthispathagain” mentality, that’s not the reason why we made such re[Tards out of ourselves. The fact that we had effectively two evenings for proper practice, while the rest of our time got wasted by waiting for players who either didn’t show up, went afk, or prefered to do “certain activities involving a certain material” instead of showing up to preset practice times is what got us rekT so hard.
Of course I can completely understand it if you can’t come to practice, at least 3 players of our team currently have their exams, which resulted in an initial shortage in practice time. The thing that really kittened me off however was the fact that any form of organisation was made impossible, since people didn’t deem it to be proper to inform the rest wether they’re able or unable to attend to the practice time.
Overall I’m looking forward to the next dungeon tournament, hopefully with better preperation, more teams and less drama beforehand.
EDITH: We should discuss the conditions regarding a possible next dungeon tournament in a more BHB free enviroment. Don’t waste your breath arguing with BHBs hiding behind a wall of anonymity.

Arah is day.
The sigils are alright. It just comes down to personal preference aswell as how many bagslots you want to use for your weaponsets.
733 damage per bleed stack requires about 14000 condition damage at lvl 65 (not precisely, but pretty close). 35 from level, the remaining 698 need to be achieved with condition damage. Since bleeds scale with 0,05 or 1/20th of your condition damage, you’ll need 20x that amount, or roughly 700×20 = 14000.
I do admit however that I was calculating with 11k hp for your ele, which is of course not the case at lvl 65…

We should make a new dungeon forum game, called guess the song xD
From time to time I run into this amusing type of PUG warrior.
He pretends to be berserker, but wont use banners instead of his 5 signets.
Melee weapons are not really in his comfort zone and when it comes to skips, he cries for stealth or the team sticking with him. He downs a lot and demands to be rezzed while I’m soloing lupicus. If someone makes a mistake however, for example pulling a mob in the room before lupicus, he’ll be the first to shout in caps however: “WTF MESMER YOUR SO NOOB, EXP GROUP ONLY” or stuff like that.
For me he’s thats the kind of cof1 zerker who’s draging the group down more than anything else.
So because rabid gear can do one thing (tank a spray) which will never even be done since you’ll always wall Lupicus if you want to push for times that means it has low skill cap, lol. And we have two whole years of berserker gear videos, so I don’t want to count rabid out which is why I’m practicing around with it so that I can come to actual conclusions, rather than premature ones – and my initial impression so far is that against heavy armour targets it’s pretty on par with direct damage – and that against light and medium targets, berserker would pull ahead. Without a wall, the difference gets even narrower.
You don’t have to worry about your health %age. No scholar bonus to lose and the extra toughness allows even more room for messups. No matter wether you wall lupi or not, rabid is way more forgiving. Warrior solos are already considered as the “easy mode”, adding more defense will just add to that. If you’re unable to pull of a good condi rotation you’re unable to pull off a good direct damage rotation too.
Or you can trait for cleansing ire. Hunter/crusher are light armour targets anyway – this is where berserker pulls ahead.
Which doesn’t change the fact that condi warrior is tied to exactly one weaponset lb+s/s no versatility unless you want to give up large amounts of your damage output.
Instead of giving a valid objection you just say “it’s light armor anyway” and avoid this whole argument.
Final Jotun boss, Arah p1
Corner turret in the room before Lupicus
any point you feel you would pull an ele or hunter.not sure if it has any applicable use for bosses for berserker builds since the traits are so tight, but you could probably mess around with it in condi, you score 9k reflects against Lupicus with it though you lose 10% condi duration which is pretty sketchy.
Well any build is “thight on traits” if you want maximum damage output.
On top of that the warrior reflection is nowhere close to mesmer/guardian or traited ranger reflects. You’ll reflect barely anything compared to them, since the “search area” is way smaller compared to wardens/feedback or wall.

I can guarantee you that some enemies in dungeons were designed to be skipped.
^this
Can you imagine how dumb a dungeon would look without “decorative mobs”?
Adding additional enemies adds to immersion, but doesn’t mean you’ll have to kill them.
Berserker gear doesn’t define a build, it’s simply the best option for damage output.
Weapons traits and utilities are way more important.

I just wish it were easier to get into a group for this without being in one of the top speed clearing guilds. People have a difficult time getting involved in any of these things and that is going to hurt these sorts of tournaments down the road. We want “fresh meat” as it were or the competitions will get stale very fast and it’ll feel like rewards are just being handed to the same people over and over without new representation.
I’ll speak for myself here—I’m convinced I can compete and am willing to prove it to any team willing to give me a try, but I am not, however, able or willing to just give up my guild of many years and join a dungeon running guild that requires 90% repping. If we placed, I don’t even want any of the rewards; I just want to participate! I’ve never before been so excited for a tournament and yet I feel like I just don’t have the right connections to compete, and that sucks!
That’s always the crux of inviational tournaments. Usually there is a “wildcard” or a qualifier held for one or two spots. However I’d consider this as something like a “proof of concept”. If it goes well and if more people (maybe even anet) get involved there may be a “dungeon legends open”.
Answeres are bold
Thanks for the feedback Agony. in regards to your points…
We will discuss what to do if a dungeon bugs out. Any good ideas will be considered. In the case of a DC the person can reconnect so long as they weren’t down or defeated when they disconnected.
For me there are 3 possible ways.
- A complete restart for both teams.
- Let the unbugged team wait for the other team to get back to where they were.
- Let the bugged team restart and compare the time needed for completion (gwscr restricted ruleset timer)
In any of these cases a player who died during the previous run would have to die at the same spot again. The prize will be be proportioned out once it’s finalized. I anticipate getting more prize support before then so I don’t want to give any definite breakdowns now.
Completely understandable
I think most of the gwscr rules for particular issues are resolved, but if there is any ambiguity on anything we can discuss it.
The tie breaker paths will be preselected from a list before the tournament begins. So long as no one picks the particular path that is due we will just go in order. If someone happens to pick the tie breaker path early, we will skip it and use the next one on the list. Since the paths for tiebreakers will be pre-determined (but hidden from competitors) there won’t be any shenanigans or gamesmanship.
Good solution, the list should be made public once the group compositions are set.edit: Registration closed Friday June 20, 2014 at 12:00pm PDT
The farming trains in the starter zones were removed for a good reason. It makes a bad impression on newbies if they get told pressing 1 and f is what most of this game will be about.
Removing these trains and designing new conent in a way that the “throw more players at it” tactic wont give the same reward as coordinated tactics do is a very good thing. PvE in this game is still considered as complete faceroll, and while this is still mostly the case, the recent changes left at least some cracks in this image.
Trying to focus the “high end stuff” only into pvp wont do you good. More and more people will eventually get bored if they don’t get at least some challenge. Not everyone likes PvE, but not everyone likes PvP either, having only “endgame” in one of these two isn’t good for the population of your game.
Regarding the dungeon rewards. Dungeon rewards are in a very poor spot at the moment.
The way the current reward system works is that you get the best reward by running every dungeonpath once per day. A second run yields barely any loot.
This basically unleashed the cof1/coe zerker crowd onto all other dungeons. Most $$$$COF1 %%% SPEEDURN %%% 1 ZERKERWAR %%% PING GEAR $$$$ kind of player didn’t quit the game, they just searched for the next best way to make gold. People called that this “zerker elitism” will spread and indeed it did.
Counteracting the inflation caused by cof1farmers and farmtrains was important, the path taken isn’t the best however. Rather than just nerfing ways to get gold, new ways to aquire the “items with high demand” like certain runes/armors/precursors should be added aswell. Everything within limits of course.
Sounds good!
I did some brainstorming and came up with some suggestions:
- Have a clear ruleset in case a something unexspected happens. For example a boss not turning hostile or a player dc’ing. Considering you’ll have 8 teams times potential 3 runs, there will be a lot of room for these kinds of failures to happen.
- Since it’s an invitational tournament I’d also consider splitting the price pool up in a way that most or even all participants get at least something, of course with consideration of their performance too.
- Since it is the first time this is done I would consider to define the the gwscr rules further. While the rules are mostly as clear as they can be, there is always a lot of drama when it comes to vague interpretations of rules.
To give a few examples: The rock in arah p1, Lupi@wall, wraithlord event triggers etc. - Along the same line (drama avoiding) I’d tie the “tiebreaker dungeon” to RNG. Have a judge use random.org to determine the dungeon path. Otherwise you may potentially run into the issue of people calling you bias towards one team (in terms of the composition).
—
dps down on mobs while filming it
—Sounds like an exploit.
It is an exploit.
You wont see any of these things happening in this game.
Giving as little feedback as possible, aswell as reducing the amount of alternative ways to compare your performance to other players and/or groups was a concious decision by anet.
Sarcastically speaking, you could say anet does not want to show people how bad they’re or how much they suck.
In the end we can only resort to “bandaids” when it comes to comparing builds. For example trying to dps down on mobs while filming it and evaluating the results or using “more obscure ways”.
I stay 65003 almost all of the time. Much more fluid gameplay with fast hands and especially in pug groups, you’ll have a much more difficult time soloing without it. From personal experience, that’s just what ends up happening; people wiping.
I’m certainly not doubting you but it seems a bit odd a group wiping because a warrior doesn’t have fast hands. Unless you are talking highly specific instances.
I think miku meant that PUGs often times die during encounters (or skips …), not because of a warrior not having fast hands, but because they’re PUGs.
This “unreliability” is what makes the “top dps builds” hardly worth taking for PUGs, unless you know that your group will meet somewhat ideal requirements. (You not having any need for the block on sword etc.)
65003 is still what I’d consider as the “go to” build for warrior.
I’m not sure if its worth taking reckless dodge over armored attack. You’ll have 50 extra toughness/healing power aswell as 120 extra power. Reckless dodge may deal some damage, but it wont do anything during coordianted spikes.
I don’t think evis can hold up to killshot in potential damage. Both the skill modifier aswell as the weapon damage is lower (about 8% and 10%)
DPS is the derivative of the damage vector as a function of time.
Scepter/Shield guard hits so hard, he blows the enemy away.
Looks like the people in this forum are too lazy to do cof#1 4war1mes
Warrior, only dodge damage.
Dub and I did a duo on Lupi with dodge only.
It took about 35 minutes.
3k dodge crits OP.
I think the almost 2k damage lightning strike proc’d of a random 1k damage autoattack more of a problem than the backstab damage :/
A lot of players feel that the Fire and Air sigils are very poor design. Unfortunately, you can expect a balance pass in maybe six or seven months.
Yeah probably… it will take a lot of time until players realise how much this sigil combination can carry even complete crap players.
Missed all your skills? Doesnt matter, still did loads of damage by autoattacking.
I’d agree with the damage coefficient, it’s definetly where it should be for a skill covering such a huge area (cough lb+hammer cough).
The blast however… Not so sure what to think about that one. I’d rather have it a projectile finisher instead.
I think the almost 2k damage lightning strike proc’d of a random 1k damage autoattack more of a problem than the backstab damage :/
Two options.
1. make reflect work like retaliation, and base the damage on the reflect caster, not the attacker.
2. give up on the whole “active combat” malarky in PVE, as people are looking at every last way of avoiding it anyways (stack in corner and spam DPS being the prime example).
1. Make reflects scale off the casters power. This would probably fix a lot.
2. Stop with the kittening troll bait.
So lets assume for a momment that this is not a troll.
Upping the loot from mobs in dungones from “non exsistant” to “somewhat appropriate” could easily tip the favor into not skipping every pack there is.
And as the gravelings in AC after the spider queen show, even a single championbag can get a lot of groups into killing them. This basically means that the reward does not have to be incredible of course, it just needs to be more than 2 claws from a pack consisting of idk. a risen hunter, mage, elementalist and illusionist.
There are more benefits to stacking than just boons. You kind of automatically stack when your group has more than one melee player.
Sometimes you want to “stack” to avoid certain skills form beeing used. Like it was with the poison field from the spider queen or lupis dome (don’t you dare touching lupi tho, anet).
Sometimes it is to reduce the impact of RNG, an example for this was Malorna in TA up (which got nerfed now, thx to anet mesmer and guard will probably become completely useless in speedrunning groups if this trend continues, hooray)…. but anyway. Getting her to stick to a wall and “stacking” in one spot allowed all her AoEs to focus in a small area, which allowed you to reflect more of them and this way deal more damage/wall.
Another HUGE benefit from “stacking” is the ability to quickly ress a downed player. Yeah, those elitist exploiting stacking scumbags actually help each other out more than they usually get credit for. If some guy downs 1000 range from everyone else, how many people do you think will come rescue him before it is too late, and how many of them will die in the process? Although TBH I think the “downed state” makes pretty much any gamemode a joke and most support completely pointless, but that’s a different story.
For a TL;DR skipping can be “fixed” if you give proper rewards, stacking can’t be fixed, apart from the obvious exploits where you can hit a mob but the mob can’t hit you at all (which the spider queen was not, just saying).
I really don’t give two kittens about what the players in my party are running.
Bearbow or necromancer is fine for me, I wont kick someone for playing what he likes.
What bothers me however are those players that simply lie about the viability of their build when it comes to dealing damage. Bearbow wont deal “decent damage” the same goes for riflewarrior, conditionmancer or burnguard.
Just say you like the playstyle, don’t spread lies to justify your build.
Just remembered another thing that kittenes me off.
People that don’t use stealth consumables, mass invisibility, SR, smoke field blasting etc before running past the spiders on the way to mage crusher in Arah P3.
I can understand not having harpy feathers due to the bugged event, but everyone should be getting spykits. If it’s a completely new player this is forgivable but it still irritates the hell out of me because I basically always say “don’t lure the spiders to us” and they still do. I’m also not willing to wait for a group of 5 for over 10-15 minutes when I can solo the boss in 5 minutes, so that’s not an option either.
It boils down to people not reading party chat or having common sense, tbh.
For me it’s the other way around lol.
I hate people that use an overabundance of consumables when using their brain could/would bring the same results.
Expecting every PUG to bring consumables, listen to advice and/or use their brain however is delusional ^_°.
Why would I cleanse off bleeds that basically deal no damage? You have close to no condtion duration in a power build (which is what the OP asked for).
If you are looking at roaming, you’ll probably see most decent builds running heavy condtion reduction (food, runes, traits), which makes immobilize a rather poor choice as a “setup” for any follow up burst, unless again, you go for a conditon build with a decent amount of condition duration yourself.
Also most non-warrior classes don’t have that much reasonable access to stability. And that’s what you’ll need against hammer chains.
And yes, as I’ve stated, sword is great for mobility. It’s also great in condition builds (though we don’t have much of a choice there). But it performs rather underwhelming in power builds.
Ask yourself the question: Why would I swap to my secondary set and decide the weapons according to the encounter.
For example: PUG lupicus-> I may need some extra survivability. Go for Axe/Sword. Reason? Axe is still way better than Sword when it comes to DPS. Sword offhand is purely for the block, which can help you survive most of Lupis attacks (granted you react fast enough).
Other example: You want “burst vulnerability” on the mob (for speedkill/speedrun purposes). So you start off with axe/mace #2-#4-#5 on my mark and swap to GS for the rest of the fight.
It really depends on your group and the encounter. Granted GS camping is really the way to go of course.
Mainhand sword is great for mobility, but poopy for damage or control. The immoblize is underwhelming compared to other burst skills and final thrust is easy to avoid AND will only matter when the oponent is <50% (which wont even kill him). GS Hammer is nice, and GS Mace can work in wvw aswell, although I would consider that build as more of a gimmick (all for wvw of course).
How about calling an exorcist if a player is possesing a dungeon? That might help!
You could make a flow chart on how much/little use a ranger is for your group, judging on his playstyle.
The majority of all ranger players would land in the worst category.
There is a huge difference between “not wanting to use sword because of it’s disadvantages” and “playing complete kitten ”.
None of the ranger specific group support is bound to the weapon set or pet you use. Along the same line, none of your weapons is bound to the support you bring to the party as a ranger.
Deciding to not bring spotter/frostspirit AND camp on longbow max range AND needlessly kite enemies away will make a lot of people rage.
Not only is your contribution to the party minimal, you’re also causing the run to take longer than it would without you (and no other player in your spot).

I joined a 50 000 000 000 AP + 10 legendaries party the other day. Was good. I think the person who made it was inspired by a different listing, apparently serious, asking for 20k AP.
