This is how I felt reading the post though, for real: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMK_xpIq2a0
Points per kill will be turned on and kept on. This is to more directly recognize the contribution that fighting other players adds to the success of the world.
The number of players who can rally off a single kill has been reduced from five to one. Players will also no longer be able to revive defeated players while in combat. You still will be able to revive downed players while in combat. Both of these changes are designed to help fights resolve and to give smaller, more skilled groups a better chance against larger groups.
^^^^
FINALLY.
Nope, definitely want fights.
WvW Server loyalty is a 2 year old concept. It was nice while it lasted, but it’s well-past time to move on.

Good post, Fozzik.
I’ll preface this by saying I’m leader of a guild, Violent Tendency [vT], that has been in every tier but 1, running small-man squads (Anvil Rock, Borlis Pass, Crystal Desert, Ferguson’s Crossing, Yak’s Bend, Henge of Denravi and currently Maguuma). We moved up through the tiers as the tiers slowly, achingly, basically died off. We’ve put in thousands and thousands of hours into WvW, probably much more than your intended audience for the gamemode. We have seen every bit of a vibrant and pseudo-hostile WvW community during the “good times” and the terrible, demoralizing atmosphere that comes from the drying up of players from matchups.
The current state of WvW is far, far beyond that.
Right now, there’s very little reason to run an organized 5-man in WvW, because the new Borderlands are desolate and perpetuated more and more the less people encounter people. AoE cap has always been a thing, that will never change and those of us who like to run in small man squads have accepted that. What we haven’t accepted, though, is the constant creep towards making everything more and more frustrating to deal with for small groups.
We already have dealt with enough flack over the years from players telling us to just go spvp if we want to have small-scale fights, we don’t need the questionable design choices of WvW developers trying to do the same. You won’t find the rush of killing off a group of 10-20 with 5-6 in pvp, so let’s please stop trying to force us there. We don’t want to do it, and we won’t.
We want to fight in WvW, either through objectives or open-field; it feels like that part seems to be completely forgotten.
I still try to go out in WvW nightly and find those fights, but as a solo I don’t even bother doing half of the things I did before, and in groups we don’t even bother with objectives because there’s literally no point. You either get no response or, rarely, a 60-person karma train a few minutes later. Most roamers, small-man squads and even some havoc groups that I know have started picking up and going to EotM, because at least there we can find fights.
We want to be able to play WvW and be rewarded in the same sort of way that all of the other gamemodes are rewarded for their time investment. Right now, the only incentive is for us to fight and enjoy fighting (if you can find fights); with that being slowly taken away, what’s left of the gamemode?
Well played condi Reapers and skilled Daredevils.
Heaven forbid a class have a weakness.
99% of the people saying that it doesn’t hurt small guilds aren’t in a small guild and haven’t encountered the “yes! we have a guild hall!” followed by “…are you kidding me?!” right afterwards, when all you’d really like to have for instance is a guild arena to fight with other guilds, each other and friends.
Favor and Material cost are a huge problem for sub-30 active member guilds. There’s no other way to say that. I don’t know how you’d fix it, but this clearly went into effect without any care for small guilds, even though we were told otherwise.
Scaling materials and favor could be one thing, and simply allow guilds to choose their preferred type of missions could be another (WvW, PvE, PvP) instead of forcing the choices on us. It’s pretty brutal for a small-man roaming squad guild to want to convinced to go into PvE just for the sake of Favor when it’s much more enjoyable to be in WvW. We were under the impression we would be able to do purely WvW missions, but you need a War Room to do that. Yay (but not really).
I get that materials/favor scaling could be abused (in some way, I guess) but waving a hand and saying “everything is working great!” isn’t the answer here either. It sucks, plain and simple, and feels a bit slapstick, and I know that shouldn’t be the feeling I get from this aspect, since it was so very highly touted.
I’m so ready I don’t even want to play anything else during the wait-time!

Bump.
Standing on the Ice and relogging just ports you elsewhere in the zone when you log back in. Fix the quest.
This thread is hilarious.
“Skill” groups! Hahaha! The vast majority are just zerglings under a tag to feel good about themselves. Zerglings who have someone yelling for things in TS that they would know how to do and time properly if they were actually, you know, skilled.
Let’s see the AoE cap disappear now too, then we’ll see who the real skilled groups are.
Bump, still broken. Would be nice to see a red post at least confirming they’re aware of it and are working on fixing it since many people only need this one thing for map completion.
I logged in just to say that you have talent. Good luck in the tough field, I hope you get to utilize that talent of yours.
Well, my post got merged into this one, but it’s good to know that no, there isn’t a way to get less than 400 gems.
That said, this is a kittening terrible change.
Shame on upper management for forcing this one down the line.
Figured maybe I’m missing something in the new UI. Anyone know how I can get less than 400 gems from the gold->gems exchange? I just wanna get 200 so I can get the devil horns. :P
Wonder if they’ve considered having multiple-sized swords (rather than just the standardized orange swords) on a map.
IE. 10 people involved small orange/yellow/whatever colored swords, 25 people involved medium sized swords, 40+ people involved big swords.
[vT]‘s home server is Borlis Pass. We’ve moved around a lot, but finally settled here. Let’s be honest, community and interaction is all the differentiates servers at this stage of the game. If you’re looking for fights, you’ll find them, no matter the type of guild you’re in.
If you’re looking to PPT, well… let’s just say you’d probably find it to be an exceptionally welcoming community.
If you’re not looking to PPT, like [vT], no one is going to give you crap for it and many guilds appreciate the assistance of small mans on a map.
I’m getting sick of people wanting “compensation” for every. single. thing. All I see these days are just rants over rants and no meaningful conversation. Imo these threads should be locked down
I didn’t realize I was ranting by bringing up a topic. How absurd. Bringing up a topic about a game in a gaming forum!
Internet people are so funny. Thanks for the laughs. #RageMorePlz
And now your legendary will be permanently account bound.
You won’t get compensated, nor should you.
You do realize that with a simple set of transmutation stones and a trans splitter it was pretty much easy enough to swap them around? It’ll be cheaper come the update, sure, but don’t pretend and/or be unnecessarily hostile because you feel on a pedestal about a legitimate, and politely worded request.
Why shouldn’t people be compensated for their time? A strongly worded statement with no actual filler is… eh.
While I sympathize, didn’t you make them to have two of the best in stats (always) with that skin with the ability to change stats?
The skin is the only transferable item…the ability to always have best in stats is…priceless.
Ascended is much, much easier to obtain. If you get a Legendary, it’s for the skin, let’s be real.
Hi there. I’m looking forward to the wardrobe changes (mostly), and I think it’s a great addition to the game. This isn’t talking about the Dye changes.
That said, I’m a bit unhappy about the time/energy having been used to make an Incinerator pair, only for it to become essentially worthless to have done with the upcoming change. I’m not going to pontificate on this, because I’m sure that the minds at ANet already have discussed this.
I’m wondering, however, if there will be any sort of compensation for individuals such as myself? I think that could go a long way to quell gamer anger over the change so they can see past it and view it as a positive change otherwise.
[vT] recently transferred from BP to Ferguson’s Crossing.
Being a small-man guild, we were basically tired of the nonstop 50-70+ zergs that had nothing better to do than chase us around every time we stepped foot in a camp.
[Krew], [EmP] and [d0] also all transferred to FC (it was Krew’s idea for us to transfer with them, I admit, the other two guilds came a couple days later unexpectedly, which was cool).
Having gotten to fight the NSP groups, Darkhaven groups, Devona’s groups and Anvil Rock groups in the past two weeks, I’d like to say personally that this is the best choice we’ve made for our guild in quite some time. We were dubious that there wouldn’t be any fights to have, and uh, that’s just not true. There’s been fights any time of the day that we want, and that’s awesome.
There’s plenty of skilled roaming groups that we’ve come across, which is a nice change from the unskilled nature of most small groups in the higher tiers. DR, in particular, seems to have quite some solid groups that we’ve never gotten a chance to see before.
PS. We killed an ANet Mesmer on NSP the first night we were on FC. My battlecry was “I gotta go get ’em! To avenge the D/D Ele!” ;]
This thread is still going?
People hatin’ should post their vids of how “awesome” they are (merc’ing uplevel rangers doesn’t count – nor does kiting around 15 people and not doing anything).
I wasn’t aware giving props to others’ good play was a bad thing.
Okay, I made an eel and he is at lv 10, and pretty fun (go asura!)
Typos are awesome.
Oh god, this killed me.
+100000000000000000000000 good sir.
I haven’t seen it mentioned (on this thread) that a pebble, piece of grass and/or speck of ground lint will cause RtL to fail spectacularly as well and give us our blessedly awesome cooldown of 40 seconds.
But it doesn’t matter. Let’s add a blast finisher to a skill no one cares about a blast finisher on, yeah!
Good work.
Haters gunna hate. Especially on internet forums.

The stunning lack of changes here after months and months of constructive feedback is pretty amazing. For Elementalist feedback, you should look at the posts by oZii.2864 scattered all over the Elementalist forums. I think this is far too little, far too late.
Like Amins said in the thread earlier:
/shrug
April.
Thanks for the laugh Burnfall.
Let’s revert some of the unnecessary nerfs. That’ll be a start towards “helping” the Elementalist class. I don’t even need to post which ones because you already know, unless you’ve really not been listening for months on end.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
But I’m sorry you got your feelings hurt.
LOL
So glad you guys left. Good riddance.
Yeah, I mean, who would want to stay on a server that tries to bully small man roaming groups to join together to form MEGA WVW ZERG GUILD for the “good of the server”? Why not go to a server (Borlis) that actually appreciates coordinated guild roaming groups, understands what they are capable of, and has a pretty fine community?
Good riddance, indeed!
You’re getting better, but you should try harder.
But then again, coming from [VII] and all (PS why’d you hide your sig, yo, afraid we might single you out or something?)… maybe that’s the best you can do. After all, you guys are just barely harder to kill than the coyotes we get stacks on, let alone be capable enough or organized enough to actually push on any sort of larger group – organized or not.
Try to talk kitten when you can back it up with proof of your good deeds. Oh wait, that’s right, you can’t. We just flatten you. Thanks for being less than loot bags, you’re nothing more than stackers.
Was expecting something more impressive given all that hype and pomp. Am disappoint.
Am disappoint in your trollin’ skill. GET GOOD SON!
Impressive, not quite sure why the delay was there to attack you all. Once you came across the bridge a group that size should have rushed you. I was half expecting to see a merchant or tp npc in front of the gates. Also stop killing me 1 v 6, I cri evrtim.
Dunno why they delayed, more of a treat for us that they did though! :] And yeah, they shoulda rushed us, but we were able to just push in and lure them to the bridge over and over in small groups. Much easier to manage a fight when it’s chunks of an elephant rather than the whole one, you know.
PS. If we have 6 people (kinda rare!) and we kill you 1v6, you were probably in the way that we were running or you were one of those thieves who trails along behind us trying to pop out of stealth and burst someone down before stealthing again. Sry, can’t control bloodlust of the boys when either of those things happen. We’re always roaming and looking for equal-to-larger fights, 1 person just ain’t that.
(edited by Agriope.4523)
Don’t even gotta say anything with this.
From yesterday.
Happy New Years!
[MU] would like to thank all of the BP guilds that we’ve fought in open field this week. There has been some really good fights and hopefully we see each other again.
I would like to echo this sentiment. This has been a fantastic week for those looking for challenging open field fights.
Hey, I saw you guys the oth-heartseekerheartseekerheartseekerheartseekerblindfieldheartseekerheartseekerstealthheartseekerheartseekerheartseekerheartseekerblindfieldheartseekerheartseeker
X_X
I kid, I kid.
Or do I?
Okay, just mostly kidding. [vT] generally has been looking for [MU] when we’re out roaming, since that seems to be one of the only organized smaller roaming groups out this week (with the exception of that one time where we had to tear kitten away from a big blob of what looked mostly like ya’ll).
We roam 3-6 people and usually in the evenings, so we don’t get a good estimation some of the time about any roamer populations on servers. Personally, I’ve been running my pewpewpew necro this week after about a 5 month hiatus from it and a month or so break from the game. Roaming’s been up and down so far. Sadly, there’s been a lot of running time between fights.
All you other folks on HoD and CD, break off from your zergs! WE NEEDS SMALL FIGHTS! THEY ARE FUN!
BP roamers lol. Everyone on your server is so built for zergs that they can’t fight any other way. #noskillsnokill /salute ()PUmesOP &lastweekofforums
Best forum post in awhile.
[vT], #zerg4lyfe #neversellrams #arrowcartinopenfield #noduelsallowed
Chest thumping so strong on this thread full of lootbags.
Yep, +1 this idea.
Aww. We have no class. Let’s cry about it now, all together.
WE LOST EVEN NUMBERS!??! That is so rare I want to know who was responsible for this travesty so I can guild kick the slackers. Roaming is SRS BZNS!
(edited by Agriope.4523)
This thread is moderately more entertaining now.
This thread is amusing, you mean.
Nice work.
/chars
Where is everyone???
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, or in blobs mostly.
Stacking immobilize is probably one of the worst changes they’ve made in… awhile.
In other news, still want to buy global CC cooldown from Warhammer Online.
(edited by Agriope.4523)
I shelved my d/d ele awhile ago, and was hoping for it to make a return, because I love the class and I thought: “HMMMMmmm. Surely they couldn’t hit d/d even more, right? There’s only one place to go from the bottom of competitive play.”
My thoughts now: “it’s a shame I can’t sell my 2 Incinerators from my D/D ele on the trading post. What a waste of time to have made them.”
Incinerary = bad, and it’s sad. l2p your class baaaaby.
Also, if you’re gunna talk kitten, man up and don’t block so you can try to kitten talk without response. Sorry you died, also sorry you had to zerg to feel good about your awful ele skills.
Maybe that’s why you’re in a TEST guild, for testing out awful play?
PS. U MAD BRO?
(edited by Agriope.4523)
Thanks for the fights this week. Also thanks for the corpse jumping, laughing and sleeping by our corpses – that’s how you can tell it’s a competitive week, you even get the kittened scrubs trying to demoralize with the only way they know how.
But we love your hair.
