WvW – Zerg vs Zerg
I prefer Compote simply because in your group composition your condition removal should be high enough that conditions are being wiped off extremely fast anyways. If you have a condition that lasts 10 seconds, it only wipes out the last 4 seconds of that condition. It’s been my experience that the condition is already cleared before the first 6 seconds is up so the Lemongrass isn’t doing as good of a job as people may think.
The extra 1k heals though have allowed my groups to stay up so much longer and be that much more durable.
You could also look at splitting it up as well. Back line shouldn’t be taking the same damage as your hammer train, so you could give your backline something to help up their DPS, which would work by helping the frontline kill people faster thus making the Compote even more effective for them.
WvW – Smaller scale or Guild vs Guild
I’d go with the Lemongrass for the smaller scale stuff. 10vs10, 15vs15 etc, where condition removal isn’t as prevalent.

TSL had a great time last night in the Maguuma Borderlands.
Thanks for the great fights last night to both Dragonbrand and Maguuma.
TSL had a great time on the Maguuma borderlands tonight!
Thanks to both servers for some good fights!
Not going to make any excuses but about 75% of our members are having severe issues tonight in WvW. It’s so bad that they can not even see people, some say they see some name tags, etc. They are not seeing particle effects, etc… so they walk right into an area locked down by necro’s and get burned down instantly without being able to see why.
We’ve even had to tell people what direction people are hitting us from so they can swing blindly and cast AOE’s in areas without being able to see if there are even enemies in that area.
You can put this post in the “Really crappy update” column.
Not sure why anyone in TC would have a problem being in this matchup. It’s a huge accomplishment for the server. We put a lot of hard work in to get here with our never quit attitude…. don’t quit! Get up, brush yourselves off. If they come at you with a zerg, hit them in two different places. Do what you can to make yourselves more organized. Jump into Mumble… help out however you can. Don’t just sit there and be fodder and then complain that you’re getting rolfostomped like fodder.
Get up.
Don’t Quit!
TSL will be here all week in numbers. We’re loving the matchup…. SoR, BG… bring it!
Here is our latest video from Reset. Please enjoy! It’s a bit more a clusteryouknowwhatinsertkittenword, hence the music selection.
TSL is having a great time on the TC Borderlands. Some great fights happening there.
The Shadow Legion had a great time last night.
Here is a recap video of some of our fights and a congrats to all TC for finally making it into Tier 1. Please watch it in 1080 and enjoy!
TSL is having a great time on the FA borderlands tonight. Great fights JQ!
If the notes were fake, you’d likely have seen this thread locked or even deleted. I think they’re probably correct.
Although TSL has for the most part taken this week off, we would like to thank those that we did have a few good battles with, as well as the guilds that we did some GvG with.
Good luck to both SoS and CD in the future!
Here is the latest Reset video from TSL. Hope you all enjoy!
Here is the latest video from TSL from Tarnished Coast.
Boy TC if this keeps up there will be talk of formalizing our relationship like you used to have with FA :p
Had tons of fun in SOSBL last night even if I spent most of it on watch duty. TSL you guys were relentless going after clifftop. I was stationed there during most of your assaults, yes those engineer mortar rounds landing on your cata’s was me. Woulda used the AC’s but you guys kept wrecking any close enough ot hit that spot. That 5 superior cata rush at the south wall was absolutely insane.
Good to hear that you had a good time. I was commanding at the time of that Cata rush… it was pretty funny watching that wall melt. I sent scouts out and before they were gone 10 seconds I was like “Oh wait, come back… wall is at 20%”.
I hope everyone just tries their best to have a good time this week. Feel free to contact me in game to chat if you want. Always good talking to those on other servers.
TSL would like to extend our thanks to SoS in their borderlands. You guys had some great reaction time with many of the attacks we had against the North. Look forward to some more battles. Lets not worry about the score and just focus on having a good time.
Feel free to contact me in game. Always enjoy chatting with other server commanders/guild leaders about the game.
If we’re talking Group vs Group then this is my list:
Best: Warrior, Guardian, Necro
Decent: Elementalist, Engineer
Needed for Utility: Mesmer
Leave them at home: Thief, Ranger
Rangers are broken right now for group PVP. There is virtually no reason I’d take a ranger over an Ele or a Necro… ever. I’m someone who would love to see Rangers be as useful as other classes. Simple fact of the matter is that they are not. They do have some useful utility, however I’m going to take a Necro or Ele every time over a Ranger.
Thieves are useful in that they make fantastic scouts… so if scouting is your thing, make a thief. We love our scout thieves in the guild.
TSL is having a great time this week. Keep up the good fights everyone. Hope to see more fights in the field!
First, I run my computer with 3 monitors. And I have the game playing on one with graphics turned way up. Generally I run around at 60-70fps. When I turn fraps on it’s preset to 29.97fps.
When I have all that and run into a zerg my fps sometimes dips to 15fps. Would a second video card increase that, or is the issue likely something else? (IE: Processor or Server based?).
I don’t want to go buy a second 680GTX and find out that there is going to be no increase in quality.
Here is an example of TSL in game in one nights worth of highlights – if you think you would fit in, please read below.

RECRUITMENT
The Shadow Legion (TSL), a Tarnished Coast based guild, is currently looking for new members, however we are picky on who we let in. We are not a massive recruiting zerging guild, and if that’s what you’re looking for you’ll have to look elsewhere. As a PVP guild, we do not tolerate immaturity, drama, or any sort of disrespect amongst members. We are looking for fun people who can not only get along, but work alongside each other. We are looking for members who love to PVP as we have been a PVP guild since we formed in 1998. We look to dominate any server and/or game that we play and are looking for those who are striving to be the best.
The Shadow Legion is a PVP guild unlike any other. the guild has been successfully gaming since 1998 at the release of Ultima Online (Pacific server). Members look at the guild more as a family or group of friends who are very close and social group. the guild is more than just a tag above our members heads. the Shadow Legion is a name that we are all very proud to call ourselves. We are looking for a few more members as we embark on this new game.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for more fun, mature and social players who enjoy PVP’ing and are looking for a family of players who work well together to dominate any groups we face. We have players who are interested in every aspect of the game (PVP and PVE), but all of our members understand the importance of working together as a team.
Potential members must:
We are not looking for members who are drama queens, immature, or anti-social. We are a fun and close group of friends who are looking to add to our already successful group. Our guild ranges in game play style, from power gamer to casual evening and weekend types to when time permits type of players. We are all in our 20’s – 40’s. Due to the maturity requirement, we will likely only accept members who are 18+.
Feel free to read up on our history below and if interested, please go to our website (www.shadowlegion.net) and register and leave a message on our forums to introduce yourself.

– Enjoy WvW. We are a PVP guild first and foremost.
– Have Mumble and a working mic
– be mature and have respect for others in the guild
– be able to have fun and enjoy playing with others
– be registered on our forums and it would be a good idea to give a short intro
- Display the TSL tag at all times. If you’re not proud enough to show that you’re in TSL at all times, we’re not the guild for you.
- Guild Emblem must always be worn in WvW. If you think that wearing some PVE chest piece is more important than showing how proud you are of the guild, again you’re not a fit.

TSL had a great time last night. We’re really enjoying this week.
Here are some highlights from TSL. 99% of the video are highlights from last night. We look forward to more solid fights.
The amount of arrow carts in every kitten tower we tried to take tonight is absolutely unreal. Whole zergs and like 10 AC’s in a tower is hard to take, well played :c
:)
Two very boring matches back to back, hope next week is better.
We are having a blast actually.
TSL has entered SoR. We plan on taking over your entire map. We have 15… you have 80.
Bring it!
Great fights last night on the SoR borderlands. We will be taking in a lot from this week. Very impressed with how things went last night and the level of maturity thus far on the forums.
We don’t care what the score is, if we can’t beat you, we’ll at least give it our all to be a big thorn in your side.
TSL is having a blast on the SoR borderlands. That’s a pretty impressively big guild you have there, but we’re having a good time in the fights.
Should be a good time this week with lots to learn.
TSL had a great time fighting the other two servers. Here is our very first video. This started off as a project for me just to learn how to use a video editor. It was never intended for release. I’ve decided to release it as our first Volume, as many more will now be coming in the future. This is my first ever production… please enjoy.
PS: Yes, I know I didn’t have food buffs :P
PSS: The darkness in the video will be corrected in future releases.
Please feel free to turn the volume up and watch in HD.
TSL is still recruiting. We have really started to ramp up our Spec group and it’s running almost every night of the week.
Here is our very first video. This started off as just a side project for me to learn how to edit video, etc hence the turned down graphics etc. It eventually turned into something to release. Future videos will have a much higher quality of video.
Please turn the video to 1080HD, turn up the sound and Enjoy!
Here is a little project I worked on to learn how to create videos. The clips are over a couple of days this week. This started out as a side project to teach myself how to edit videos, etc to start releasing videos in the future. This was never intended to be released to anyone, hence the video quality/graphics are not set as high as they should be. Some may find the video a little dark, however that will be fixed in future released.
Please turn the sound up, the quality to 1080HD and I hope you enjoy.
And yes, I realized I didn’t have food buffs / sharpening stones.
Enjoy the video.

We are still looking for more member kittenally enjoy working in a group environment. Our members are focused on excelling as a group in WvW and going that extra mile to push our group over the top against the odds. We are looking for members who are always looking to improve but at the same time have a good time.
We are not looking for individuals who constantly run off and don’t understand the importance of sticking withthe group. If you’re the type of player who doesn’t follow commands, doesn’t work well within a group setting, or always seem to be the person that is never with the group (Besides those playing Sentry/Scout), please don’t apply to TSL.
If however, you’re the type of person that is looking to join a guild with a very solid core group of players that enjoy focusing on what makes our group better as a whole through theorycrafting, training, and focusing on implementing group tactics, we are a guild you should consider.
We do have a very solid spec group that the vast majority of our members have created characters for. However it is not manditory that you play a spec class. If you enjoy playing other classes, that is fine, we do want our members to play classes they enjoy.
Through the last several weeks, TSL has increased our size and have worked very hard on perfecting our WvW spec group. Teamwork has always been of huge importance to us, so we are looking for others who enjoy working as a team. We are looking for likeminded members who not only enjoy working as a team, fighting as a team, and winning as a team… but also enjoying all aspects of the game that make it fun.
We are serious about our WvW teamplay, but we are still laid back enough to be able to have a good time to make sure our members are having a good time.
Please read the original message in this thread to get an idea of what we are looking for in potential members. If this sounds like the type of guild you are looking for, please contact us in game or via our webpage.

Any open atm? Need to get some jewelry
We are getting a number of people who are asking about our policy on requiring 100% guild representation. Our reason for this is that we’re looking for a specific type of member, one who is dedicated to one guild and the other members in it. We want our members to work with each other, group together, and get to know each other. This creates a much stronger relationship between guild members.
We are not looking for members who don’t have enough pride in the guild to always represent TSL, regardless of what they are doing in game.
This recruitment policy does restrict us in how fast we can build our membership, however with over 300 members in GW2, the fact that we have so many active members compared to other guilds goes to show just how much more fun members are having in our guild. Logging on is fun, you feel as though you’re entering mumble and talking with not just guildmates, but good friends.
For those looking for a very strong, very closeknit group of players to play with, TSL is home to many just like you.
Welcome to Tier 2 DB. Looking forward to some good fights on the field. Heard some good things about DB so TSL is looking forward to this matchup.
It’s unfortunate that Kaineng is falling apart as it is. The ability to mass exodious off of a server by a number of guilds can ruin a server. We have been very fortunate on Tarnished Coast to not experience this as our guild retention has been very good. Those guilds that have moved over to TC have been made to feel right at home right away, and I think it’s one of the main reasons that you are seeing such a strong showing now by TC.
Those that started on TC stayed with TC, and those that have moved over have stayed as well.
It says a lot about our server. It’s not just a core group of leaders on TC that work hard to make it a great home, but the vast majority of the members truly look at everyone else as part of their community. I don’t know how I’d feel if I suddenly saw a number of guilds decide to leave.
Sorry to see Kaineng going through this.
Can’t express enough how glad we are to have chosen TC as our server of choice. I know everyone likes to say how their server is the best, etc etc… but the one thing that I notice on our server are how many people have transferred over from another server that have expressed how much more they enjoy being on TC.
This is one of the reasons why TC is becoming a force in WvW, people are joining the server, however we don’t have people wanting to leave. Our guild retention on the server is extremely high compared to other servers.
That says a lot.
TSL is still recruiting those players who like to run in a group environment and be part of a team. We are not looking for individuals who prefer to play solo (Unless scouting). We are a very social guild, spend much of our time talking in Mumble, but we also look to perform at a high level on the field of battle.
We are looking for players who like to buy in to working as a group, and play as a team.
If you’re looking for a serious and fun guild, please contact us in game or on our website.
www.shadowlegion.net
I think it is pretty funny that TC is accused of running away… never fighting… etc.
Based on the map, I’d say we go on the offense a fair amount.
Theongreyjoy, please stop posting that dribble… it makes it look like TC actually uses strategy… that we try to win…
… we’re a mindless zerg. Follow a blue dot and press 1…. that’s what we do. Not this stuff that involves thinking.
Please take it down, it’s hurting my brain.
Are there any new TC guilds with good skills nowadays? Since all the old one are the same or worse after 7 weeks, I mean we are very very disappointed…
Cool Story bra!
We haven’t been having much trouble with FA… Hopefully Dragonbrand will put up more of a fight.
And yes, we were ping ponging between maps last night trying to bolster our defenses and hold what we had. You know, doing that whole PPT thing that some of you guys are telling us to learn.
And practice makes perfect.
One day you’ll get there if you continue to work hard and don’t get discouraged because you aren’t seeing a return on your investment.
Or maybe we could just recruit our way to victory and then try and talk trash on the forums. Nah, that would be too easy.
You mean like the time we won T2 and took green without the new guilds coming over? (Note: We won T2 without superior coverage)
Yes, back when the tier was semi-balanced, congrats. Now that it isn’t anymore and winning is based on numbers, its funny how TCers pick now to come to the forums to chest thump. Just find it kinda sad.
I shed a tear….
Perhaps you should take a page out of Kaineng’s book then and stop the forum trolling. I’ve been on TC since release, and no server we’ve faced even comes close to you guys in that department. At least you’re consistent about it though.
We at TSL would like to thank both Kaineng and Fort Aspenwood for the last weeks worth of fights. We’ve had some fantastic battles against large numbers from both servers.
We look forward to another week of quality fights against both of you.
Not sure if you can publicly say but any idea what map you guys are on? Always enjoy fighting you guys.
Also wanted to give a shout out to the KA scout that was sitting outside of Astralholme in jaguar form last night. I was the BT necro who came up as an ice elemental before getting called away.
Not sure where we will focus most this coming week. With the Queue reset times being adjusted, it really messes with our ability to be on at reset.
Many of us have expressed an interest to play more in the EB borderlands as well.
We won’t be hard to find.
We recently had a guild from another server move to ours and merge with TSL and they have told us many times that it was the best decision they ever made. They have said many times that TC is so much better than where they were. I won’t post the servers name that they came from, but it’s not even on of the ones that is known to have interguild issues. They came from a server that was known for being a decent server….
… they simply like TC that much better.

TSL had a great time in FA borderlands tonight!
We look forward to seeing you again!
TSL has been on TC since release. From what I understand, they are a very old guild that started many years ago. I know for sure they have some great commanders and we are lucky to have them.
This part is true. We are a VERY old guild, many of us playing out of the same seniors home. Many of us belong to a seniors gaming network. Although most of us have cataracts in our eyes… we give it our best. Nights become very interesting when one of our legally blind commanders is leading. He lead us into that pack of Minotaurs north of Bay Keep thinking it was a BT Zerg…. He then told us that he got 50 badges from that one battle…
… the rest of us knew better though. I share this because he can’t read the forums either.
If you ever see us just zig zagging back and forth, please have sympathy for the norn up front.
Much respect for DIS as well. We’ve greatly appreciated grouping up with them lately. Bunch of great guys.
Don’t go putting me in a seniors home just yet Alodar. Hell, I don’t even get a senior discount quite yet.
Being one of our younger members, you bring some of that youth back to the guild Whitebeard. It’s good to have you around. The rest of us are enjoying living vicariously through you as you tell us stories while the rest of us play checkers…

That briar stand off was great! We weren’t going to go in there and let you farm us. BT was persistent with their tricks to get us to rush in too. EDIT: I was just thinking back to how awesome BTs zerg movements are. So fun to watch them swirl around us before the portal comes.
Another great battle on FABL was the taking of North camp. Must have been no more than 10 of us against a perpetual wave of FA zergs and ballistas. Great night last night FA .
Does TSL travel in packs smaller than 10?
maybe it was earlier in the evening because the TSL groups I saw dwarfed those numbers.
SSShhhhh!
None of you have heard of us before. You’ve never seen us anywhere… we are a very strict roleplaying guild that makes our home in AC.

We tried everything to lure you into that tower, whether it was pushing slightly on the bridge, counter trebbing, having some of our forces leave only to port up and hide in the Lord’s room… Nothing worked. I give you guys a ton of credit. We will try cookie trays next time since we’ve found them in some of your keeps this week. It was a fun fight to cap off an entertaining evening in the BL.
Oh please not the cookie trays…
My weakness for sure.
Oh man, yesterday was awesome @ FABL. 250 badges or so, many more didn’t managed to pickup due to movement. RPers are just keep coming back, die, coming back, die again, coming back…
Lowland farm was delicious.
You need to really pick up the pace to catch up with the RP groups out there, your lagging well behind them in the badge counting department.
And yeah, FABL was a blast last night.Where is PiNK, the “best” gw2 WvW guild? I have never heard of TSL.
Don’t worry, we’ve never heard of you either.
And yet it’s funny how you mention that you were on FA borderlands all night last night… there were well over 30 TSL there running around in 2 groups. You were likely too busy running back from spawn though.
It’s also highly likely that it’s very hard to see names and tags in the one massive zerg that FA runs around in.
And when 60 FA came to the SE camp and LOST the battle against 20…. yeah, I can understand the frustration. We kept the SE camp fully upgraded for several hours even though your zerg of 60+ attempted to take it no less than 8 times.
