A thing called balance is the reason why condi duration and dmg are not in the same line. Also, I’d say acro is one of the most used trait lines in the game right now….. sooooo yeah, I assume you must be talkin about pve

I’d say I’m pretty good at fighting both d/d eles and medi guards on s/d acro. I’ve noticed the only time I lose is when I miss key skills such as mace crack from the guardian. If you land your steal everytime, anticipate the burst and land the mace crack you’ll beat every medi guard. Now ele can be difficult depending on what amulet and jazz but overall the best way to beat them is to kite and burst when they aren’t in fire, back away when in earth and try not to eat the shocking aura. The actual way to win is to force them into water and apply the ice chill you get from steal after they’ve already cleansed with water. Chill is aids to eles, and mace crack is aids to guardian… Use your steal abilities to your best abilities and you’ll win way more fights against them.

I have only one thing to say, pls pls pls go full zerk. So little damaje. Although I don’t agree with the trait spread it was overall a good first video.

Once I stepped out of SA, I never want to go back to it. SA for me was just to easy, and I stopped finding it fun. I run full glass in wvw now with all the SPvP builds, makes for much more skillful and entertaining gameplay IMO.

Most people call me Amon and I was previously on the team Sharks With Lazers where i played as their thief. I’ve moved on from that team and now looking for a new one. I am not going to just sit here and rant about how amazing I am, all im going to say is if you need a good thief hmu, I can play any thief spec very well.
Im available most of the week/weekends so time shouldn’t be an issue.

From a main thief, when I see SA thieves in PvP it just kittens me off.

1- SA players are useless because they deal low damage and cant cap while in stealth
2- any player that uses the SA trait line becomes bad so its unhealty for the game
3- sitting in stealth forever should not be rewarding because its poor gameplay

Solution, shadow rejuvanation now only heals for 20 hp per second, so if you wanna heal you would need Healing power gear. Rant over.

In before people who defend shadow arts, even though our class is harder to play than the others, shadow arts makes the thief the most faceroll class in the game. and everytime I see an SA thief I feel like deleting my thief due to how shameful that build is.

Though I agree SA is stupid, I don’t agree that it makes you a bad player. I mained SA for the longest time, I swapped off of it and I still can beat just about anything without it, it’s just harder to 1vx in WvW. Does it need to be removed??? Meh, yes and no. I believe it just needs a tone down on the regen, truly no reason to post about it though.

I also still beat SA thieves most of the time so it’s really not that big of a deal to me.

Shadow shot projectile has always been there, but infiltrators arrow has not. With dreamer you were able to see the sb5 arrow but with regular weapons you couldn’t for the longest time. So yeah ninja fix.

This is honestly a pretty stupid post, S/D can legit get across the map if you have a target and know how to use it.

Those traits are OK. pain Response and Vigorous Recovery are a must. The last trait is usually power of Inertia, but I personally prefer Assassin Reward (I use the same build but I play with only one weapon).
For the Runes, I love Pack Runes. Some go for Hoelbrak or Strength. Ogre, Air and Eagle Runes also work.
You can get Berserker Exotic Gear from the WvW vendor by paying only one gold and a few hundred WvW badges, or you can buy it with Dungeon Tokens. Don’t use Dire because it’s useless, go full zerk (you can also opt for some Assassin’s pieces should they be of easier access to you)

Vigorous recovery is def not a must lol. I did just fine w/o it when using my 2/2/0/4/6 build. You still have a lot of evades just not as much.

Neither counter each other. It’s literally 50/50 if equal skill, and no SA. But if it’s SA, D/P has the advantage. Its completely up to timing the abilities, if the d/p is using HiS s/d can win if they daze it. Either way the weapon sets do not counter each other, it all depends on the player using it.

hambow warrior earthshaker(f1) , when i dodge this ability with wirlwind my endurance is consumed but i still get hit mid freaking dodgeroll. Tested it and 9/10 times i got hit mid dodgeroll

To all the people saying kitten about it I will let you know that our team is full of raging which can be controlled, but this was the worst I’ve ever seen it tbh. I’ve never seen both thrackit and kitten rage at the same player, but yes this is why we aren’t as successful as we could be, because something goes wrong and one person rages and I just laugh.

If you get revealed after doing dmg such as CnD and you have air or fire or both, sometimes the sigils have a late proc, so like if I CnD and I get stealth sometimes the air sigil will late proc and it will reveal you if it hits your enemy. It’s just another thing that has been in the game for awhile and anet hasn’t fixed it, just like the immob bug/getting immobed in air and many more.

The more ways that Thieves can be locked out of stealth, the more obvious it will become that they are actually an underpowered class whose underpoweredness has been masked by the efficacy of Stealth

On the bright side, you won’t be able to 1 vs 10 stealthing every 3 seconds. If you want to fight 1 vs 10 nasty things will happen! OBVIOUSLY!

• If thief takes on 5 people he is being OP.

K, some serious issues going on with this guy. He comes here crying about how thief was so unfair before and that while in a group with 4 other guys his group was getting wrecked by a single thief. Then when someone says that’s probably an exaggeration, he accuses them of crying. Great logic.

Also @ Simon what are you getting at? You honestly believe what Hitman is saying, that one thief can kill a group of 5 players regularly? That this was a normal occurrence in the game? Honestly, not even sure why you quoted my post.

• If you see 5 people (with one ranger or engineer) and you are a LONE roaming thief, then think twice about engaging.
• If you still engage them then you are a noob and deserve to die.

all they need to do is make larcenous strike rip two boons again and maybe make it hit slightly harder to adjust for the new frequency of use it’ll be getting from the fact it’s harder to chain/can’t be precasted now.

I think they should just give auto chain a slight damage buff so S/P gets a buff too. also I have come o to the conclusion that S/D is still viable. Want your damage back? 2/6/0/6/0. kitten trickery- great utility but I’ll take raw damage over steal cooldown/utility now that we can’t open nearly as easily with LS>Steal.

So take no trickery when trickery is the only reason thief is viable in high tier tpvp play? Makes no sense, then you have to realize that you are losing initiative because you arent taking the trickery line. Honestly you are losing dmg imo because trickery makes S/D work extremely with all the boon steal/rip, but thats a thing of the past and s/d is not viable in tpvp matches against good players I promise.

Yea after playing with it more I just gave up on it. Larcenous strike, the main reason for running S/D in the first place, is too kitten unreliable to access.

Glad you see it my way bro. I did recently pick s/d backup even though I still thinks it’s terrible in many ways, I would much rather play it than d/p. For me d/p is not my style never was and I never liked it, so I’d rather suck with the weaponset I have a hate/love relationship with than play the less action oriented d/p.

I didn’t say this change doesn’t bring counterplay. I said that Unblockable skills weren’t meant to be counterplayed by block/aegis in the first place. But now, since you cannot chain into LS, they are.

The only unblockable skill is Larcenous, and that isn’t counterplayed by block/aegis. Flanking strike was always blockable/though didn’t stop it from turning into Larcenous pre-patch. Since Flanking isn’t Unblockable it should have means of being counterplayed by a block, also meaning aegis which counts as a block. What i’m saying is that this change with block/aegis just prevented you from setting up the Larcenous, which was needed to reward people who blocked/casted aegis to avoid a follow up burst. Thieves still have crazy initiative regen now that they boosted it to 1 second, and with the amount of dodges a S/D thief has, i’m pretty sure the initiative cost will come back due to how much you can kite away. I do agree it sucks that you can’t steal+larcenous, but being able to set that up with no punishment or a way to prevent the larcenous needed a change. Ok i’m off, checking back up on this tomorrow.

I actually don’t agree with this. Yes s/d has dodges but what’s the point in just spam dodging when you can’t really dps anyone? They made it unviable in high tier play and almost as equal in low tier. I never agree with what anet does to thief but I usually never say anything about it, but this change is legit idiotic. Like I’ve mained s/d through every single nerf yet this one just makes it unplayable and not enjoyable. If you don’t agree with me that’s fine but if you lose to an s/d thief post patch it’s a simple l2p issue.

I know you’ve played thief as long Katsumi has, and I dont’ agree with what anet does sometimes, but you can still do damage just in a different way. This change was just making it a higher skill cap to land that steal+larcenous now. I don’t want s/d to rot, and you can’t say it’s a L2P issue. Tell that to a Shatter Mesmer who can’t just L2P, any good S/D thief vs a Shatter Mesmer will completely shut them down. Especially in high tier play, they get shut down, and the Mesmer can’t do anything. If I lose to an s/d thief it means they used a different way to land their burst that is. Which I think s/d is still viable, just harder to play and needs more thought to use. I’m not against nerfing the spec to the ground, but really this change was needed.

I honestly don’t know why you’re defending this nerf. I’ll explain how bad it is, I have 100 hours on shatter Mesmer and with the new patch I beat every s/d thief because it’s terrible, d/p I can still struggle with because so much stealth but that’s the mechanic. I even played shatter before this patch and beat s/d thieves all the time and you know why? Because I mained s/d longer than just about anyone still playing the game and I know the ins and outs, sure shatter mes lost to thief a lot but why shouldn’kitten I mean now every class that blocks blinds and has aegis counters s/d now which is stupid. I say revert the change and keep 4 initiative for FS and make larc 2 and we’d be Esports yo.
