In other games, you’re usually pretty happy noone’s there to bother you whilst you farm or do your own things. GW2 pushes people together, and you actually actively benefit from being with others.

Posts from various devs across mosts forums have increased significantly within the last couple of weeks, not only in that closed topic.
So just open a new topic on whatever concerns you or post in an existing one.
And dont expect a dev response for every issue.

Last week i read a post of Chris, in which he basically apologized for maybe not being able to post for a day because his daughter was sick and other family issues.
I really appreciate all his hard work and time he spent on the forums during the last weeks but I kinda find it disturbing that he feels he has to apologize in advance and explain himself if he doesnt post for a day, while alot of his posts came in after work or on the weekend anyways.
Kinda shows how demanding the forum users are.

I’m a hundred percent positive on the fact that no one has ever blamed him for that. Actually many people were supporting him. The thread has been made to answer our questions, so when they are not able to answer for a few days it’s more or less legitimate to tell it so people know what’s up. Just like I’d “sorry I can’t play, I’m in hospital” to my friends if I had health issues, I don’t really feel sorry and I’m not forced to, it’s just more polite to keep them informed especially if they expected me to play with them, and I’m fairly sure Chris is just being polite, I doubt he’d feel sad and sorry about not answering if he has family issues, he probably has better things to think about. The players aren’t “demanding”, it’s just what happen when you show up very little in the forums and then offer them to answer all their questions after two years. The only reason you never see that elsewhere is because it never happens in other compagnies.

Back on the topic, I’m rather sad it was closed. A lot of questions were left unanswered. If the thread was a mess (and it was) then they should just have posted a few rules so players would talk to them and not between themselves. I’m kind of… disappointed, since there’s no other thread to talk about issues that don’t concern guilds where you’re guaranteed to get an answer…

“We dont want to allow players to adjust the camera because the art.” This kittening excuse again? The game looks GORGEOUS no matter WHAT FOV, ZOOM, WHATEVER. kitten, sometimes it even looks BETTER ZOOMED OUT MORE. Come ON arenanet. SAME FOR THE FIRST PERSON, WHAT THE kitten. Players aren’t so STUPID to be using it in situations that it would NOT BE BENEFICIAL. WE WANT IT FOR SCREENSHOTS HOLY kitten.

Wow, you seem very short-sighted and selfish. Have you ever thought about the struggle of using a FPS camera that can also offer a big FoV, especially for a new player ? He might fall of a cliff while looking at the art. The economic consequences on the GWHealthcare will be massive, can’t you realize it. That is so bold of you to come and say that.

Hey Chris,

Well, if you’re still working on that list of things the CDI’s have added to the game, I’ll say the new “Superior Runes of the Trapper” look awfully familiar .

My compliments to the team: I still like my 4/6 bonus better but can see why it might not have been technically possible. Their version of the 6/6 is better than what I came up with – love how it plays off of both classes’ other abilities. Elegant (a word I don’t use lightly).

If you’re in the goodie giving mood, I’d totally take a recipe to make them and maybe a dozen, so I can put them on my ranger and thief and try them out!

Just thought I would throw this in here. Not all of these are directly related to a CDI and it is not not a complete list as it is not updated for the most recent feature pack.

However your comment made me think of the following document.

Holy… well that’s some heavy work.

Alright, thank you & work well. :-)

Hi Kitty,

i will give you my thoughts on your questions tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Chris

No problems, thank you for taking the time and I look forward to your answer. :-)

On the warrior topic, though I won’t talk about PvP since I don’t play it much, I cannot stress enough how much that destroys the Warrior’s mechanic. A nerf on the trait would have been much enough. Or better : why don’t you guys separate PvE adrenaline from PvP adrenaline and then adjust what needs to be adjusted ?

As I stated before, the thing is you have no incentive to use your adrenaline with a lot of weapons. This is a maths issues : if I use it, for most weapons, I will lose out some straight DPS (because of straight numbers or cast time and whatnot) or not gain much AND/OR I will lose the boons adrenaline gives me and increase the lost DPS. Cleansing on burst skills gives an incentive to use it and that’s good. If that’s too strong and you nerf it, perhaps you should take a look at what these skills bring individually, then, instead of double reducing the chances I will use them.

My opinion on that :
Traits that make you want to keep your adrenaline : not healthy. Instead making it so the lower it is the most you deal makes you want to use your burst skills and have a dynamic class mechanic. Look at it at some sort of need to unwind at some point after the adrenaline buildup, not like the warrior ends up overheating and destroying everyone with passive stats boons and gaining benefits from not using spells. Hell, make it so they’re actually losing some stats or health or something if they don’t press F1 and give adrenaline some love back, that’s so easily justified with the berserker mindset or whatever you want.

Give burst skills a bit more interest, some are obviously not fitting the game or underpowered.

I will let the PvP folks talk for themselves as I’m not a really advanced PvPer, but please don’t destroy PvE warrior, just separate the PvPAdrenaline from PvEAdrenaline. If you can’t stack adrenaline anymore, you might as well play any other class that will have something special for it, because that’s exactly the issue, you don’t stack adrenaline anymore. Especially for solo players, this is just a big “NOPE”. Though I think the whole problem is deeper and should be given some thought.

2/2 dam character limit

The idea was to have a spell that could snipe off target at long range, yes ? Then I’d say making the cast much quicker in exchange for a much different way of calculating damages (scaling a lot with distance so there little to no point using it on a close target but make it more interesting for longshot perhaps), but I’m afraid the adrenaline decay might be killing this idea. So maybe the reverse, maybe a quickcast spell that works best while you’re close range but with much less range, whether it’s flat damages or bleed (and that works best with the way 99% of the rifles look too). Either way I don’t see the point of using it as of now, which is why I think it needs some tweaking.

I think it’s rather weird for those spells to exist. Burst skills should be promoted, you should never go “yeah, so I won’t use that one because I need to heal more overtime and increase my dmg by X% and my crit chances by X% and… wait what’s the point of ever using it, it’s not quite as rewarding.”. Instead if it would scale the other way around, it’d make things more interesting. You can’t avoid stacking adrenaline, it will come back, 100% sure, as long as you hit people. So you can start the fight with all the buffs from traits and all, slowly as the fight goes on they kind of go weaker, and you have to chose between using your burst skill without a full adrenaline stack to get them boons back to full force or wait until it’s fully stacked. Then finally you release it, bam, burst skill, boons come back, there we go, the players now want to use their spells rather than press 1 all the way.

I think overall weapons could have more synergy between themselves, some kits looks kind of weird, sometimes.

I also agree on axe 5 : useful for tagging mobs in PvE, not for much otherwise. Reflect is a good idea, otherwise perhaps making it stack vulnerability?

Those are just ideas, of course… but I honestly think you could consider reworking some spells a bit. I’m fairly sure the community will help you a lot with that if you ask them.

Off topic, but I’m suddenly remembering last year’s Halloween and the rewards and… please tell me we won’t need bazillions of festive items to craft the recipe then just as much to craft it, or something like that, this time, right ? I mean there were even people doing the maths and showing it was impossible to collect it in less than several years, unless you buy off the TP, last year, I… didn’t really understand how it could come to that…

I must agree on some points with Simon here. I don’t think adrenaline changes were for the best and quite honestly a lot of burst skills always looked strange to me because of how ridiculously easy they were to dodge without necessarily offering much rewards – rifle, I’m talking about you. The old adrenaline decay was good; forgive my frankness it’s completely ridiculous to lose all the adrenaline when out of combat when there are some skills that rely on having them ready from the start, when you have so many traits and skills that scale on full adrenaline and when you litterally can’t stack enough adrenaline before the fight ends (aka every single player of open world PvE can’t use his class mechanic while not fighting vets)

Overall I don’t think there should “unusable tier” weapons in mode, unless there are more weapons to compensate or you could swap weapon skills between a few to adapt as it has already been suggested quite some times I believe. I also believe the game has a potential for a huge dynamic and fun perspective and should remain that way.

Which is why I tend to dislike skills like hundred blades. Greatsword has mobility and a bunch of damage and that’s always fun to play, but because most of it is bound on the #2 that makes it a bit too black and white. Hundred blades keep you in place (which I don’t think is fun, personnally) and thus make you vulnerable, because it takes a lot of time to get to the final strike. Now every strike before it is nerfed, which is pretty big. What does that mean ? That mean that, since final strike by the amount of damage that was taken from the other blades, it is nerfed as a whole and that increase the fact you’re playing with four skills when the other players react without even really making it more “skilled”; because the reward is not big enough you might as well not use it, and that’s not really normal when you have five skills. I mean that’s not really fun, in those cases. Greatsword is the most mobile weapon; I think the #2 should be in the continuity of this rather than contradict it by being the least mobile spell of the warrior. Which is why I would much rather prefer a spell that works best with it, without the 2hours long channelling; if keeping hundred blade is not an option, then what I think could be interesting would be to put a chain on the spell. 1/2/3/4 are swing attacks with short cooldown, between 1/2 and 1 seconds cast time, essentially dodging/missing two breaks the chain, then 5 is the rest of hundred blade swings, with the channelling being halved of course, including a powerful final strike. The numbers would need tweaking, obviously, maybe 4 takes a bit too long, maybe the damages would need a buff if the skills takes too much time to be set up, I don’t know and that also mainly depends on how much time you give for the chain to break, I’m just throwing out ideas. The answer to that would be easy with weapon skills you could swap, for exemple, too. Once more, the point behind that is making Greatsword a more viable PvP/WvW weapon, not one that worked in the very early stages of the game where you could lockdown players and oneshot them because they didn’t have stability or couldn’t break the stun from Bull’s Charge, and also make it funnier overall, more fitting to the dynamic playstyle.

I do think there should be sort of a list of questions asked and their answer on those kind of threads, though, I mean like a first post edited when a new question pop, and maybe put the list on the website later on for those who don’t go in the forums so they can still be informed – that way there would be much less identical questions and less answers to give, and more players feel like ANet is listening, although it would be boring and perhaps hard to do at times.

So I’ve got a massive headache and nothing to do before eating, let’s give it a try, hoping that helps Chris a bit once he’s not sick anymore (and the other devs that have to answer some questions). I went back to page 28 ; I wanted to make his work a bit easier once he’s able to answer the questions, but while I was at it I went a bit further in case somebody joins the thread/want to see if his question has been answered and wants to check the recent answers. However my main goal was to ease up his work a bit, listing all the questions here would be kind of a pain after 32 pages*50 posts. :^)

I do not pretend it’s perfect, as I said I’m kind of sick and the massive walls of text that represents 5 pages (200 – 250 posts) are really hard to read for me already ; I tried to go through the multiple discussions going on at the same time between players and all, but it is very possible that I forgot some questions, put some that have already been answered once (in which case I think Chris will remember what he already answered anyways), put questions that can’t be answered for now or things like that. Really just trying to help so he doesn’t have to scroll through thousands of words for each post and don’t overlook some, but it is all up to my memory and my ability to scroll through the said pages and multiple quotes discussions, so I can only hope it’s not too faulty ; apologizes if I did it wrong. You can tell me on the forum or preferably by PM if I missed something, or if a link is wrong, etc., I’ll try to correct is as soon as possible, and even sooner if you can link me the right thing. Again, I can only hope I didn’t do too bad.

A Lesson I Learned from Editing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AnAspieKitten.5732

AnAspieKitten.5732

“One profession that everyone said was overpowered. "

As far as I know Warrior suffers from its past. For exemple, it’s like the third or fourth DPS if I remember well, yet he is wanted in dungeon because it’s easy to play and because banners. So what do we do ?
1) Nerf it so it’s not wanted anymore and to doom its dps
2) Bring up the skillcap while buffing the class if necessary (and that’s not hard to do, as a warrior main since release I totally admit the class has a some things that are pretty much lowering the skillcap without any reason, mostly some traits)

I’m exagerating, I’m not saying it won’t be asked in dungeon ever again because of this nerf, but you’re not thinking from a game development point of view and you’re talking about old things. If you’re playing class X and class X gets nerfed, that reduce your fun. Feeling less powerful is much less enjoyable than knowing you can do best. Adrenaline is screwed now, and I feel like nerfing nonfun mechanics like GS 2 is is much less appealing than reworking it into an interesting spell instead of one that’s your highest DPS output and make you immobile and vulerable (which is not fun, and if you miss it then it’s even less fun because you have to gamble a lot on one spell and that might reduce by a lot it’s effectiveness in PvP).

That’s talking from the player enjoyement point of view, which a developer should always aim at. Then again, this comes too late ; as I said, Warrior is a low skillfloor class, which means anyone can do well with few practice, basically, but some other class are, when mastered, much better (still talking from a PvE perspective since greatsword was used there). If you nerf it, you make it useless at some point. Rather if you buff its skillcap and potential, then you make it more interesting, with more depth. The more singular every class is, the better it is, and I believe this nerf comes too late but also does contradict the “easy to play, hard to master” philosophy that makes the game more interesting (and also works much better for e-sport) and more fun because of how you can’t hit a certain point and go “yup, I can’t get anything more from my class, time to move on”.

Also, NPE has been basically “take away some things, ask the players to unlock them, slow down the progression so they don’t feel like they have everything too early, problem solved”, and again this is not healthy. They should’ve aimed at creating content, not locking some.
This patch is a huge change for veterans and the game was already really, really easy for new players, probably the easiest or one of the easiest MMO on the market, what they did make the leveling less enjoyable, thus I’m having troubles seeing where it’s gonna pay off and bring newer players.

Some players main a class. Some enjoy making alts again and again. ANet screwed them up this update and they know it, from what they said, and will fix it. For them, it’s not “details”, it’s their whole pleasure. It’s not focusing on the footnote to tell you the book is badly written, these are important changes and it’s also important people tell ANet when they’re unhappy.

The day noone comes on the forum will be the day the update is perfect, we already know that. I do think ANet did a good job a lot of the time and for the whole game, that doesn’t stop me from poiting out what I think to be mistakes and that’s our role, as player, to do so.

Also, look at their communication thread : they receive massive compliments. If they did that earlier, I’m 100% positive on the fact they’d get much less rocks thrown at them, because they very rarely showed up in person before, we weren’t even sure they were really reading, which plays in the fact that people feel like multiplying the “I don’t like that” threads and not compliment them, “I quit” and all the like, because there are more chances that when they take a glimpse at the forums they see what’s wrong. Now if they start truly communicating with us like they seem to be doing, they’ll get a lot more gratitude and positiveness, because GW2 community wants to see their game improve, because we know it’s unique and different and we like to play it, and as such it’s heartbreaking when they screw our part of the fun up. We just want it to get better. Most players are not here to say “.l. u” to the devs, they want them to fix the mistakes they make.

Hi,

First I want to say that I’m actually very impressed to have a thread where the devs are really answering without chosing one question out of a hundred, even taking some time off their sunday to do so, and I truly truly hope those threads are to be repeated in the future. You have built a playerbase that really care for the game as even through hate posts, even while they’re staying away for a while, players still look after the game, hoping it will grow more and in the right direction, because they care for it and know that it has a very particular potential. As such, I think listening to the fans is the best thing you can do and would make you a right sight better than the other studios.

Anyways, apologies if the exact same questions have already been answered, in which case feel free not to reply to the concerned questions ; I looked up what I could in the previous page, but it takes a lot of time and the forum search engine is kind of broken. So my questions are :

First, I’m a SAB lover, as many others. It has been pointed to me in other threads that future of SAB was unsure. The point was that it was not fitting the living story, which is not a valid point in my opinion as it could very well be bringed back as a festival or during a festival, or at any point really, people won’t care if it’s not well wrapped in a nice story, they just want to play it. ArenaNet’s hestiation about the subject makes me think World 3 is not a project for the foreseeable future ; is it true ?
Considering it does not, in any way, recquire multiple people to play it at the same time, would it appear to be doable to release it permanently, whether in Rata-Sum whether as an item (personnal instance, inventory, etc. doesn’t matter much) with the currently created worlds (1 & 2 for now and the other later on) and modes ? While disabling the rewards if that’s an issue (or maybe still allow players to gain token in tribulation mode given how hard and long it is especially for world 2 and it can only be used for soulbound stuff as far as I recall, something along the lines), just so players could play it for their own fun atleast?
And last but not least… can you tell us with more certitude than it has been done before what’s planned for SAB ? Even just the big lines. What I’d like to know, basically, is what’s gonna happen with SAB, if you guys plan on bringing it back every X months, during festivals or for it’s own festivals, or whatever I didn’t think of right now and more specifically where’s world 3 at (not started, finished, dead…) and what do you think about releasing it as proposed before a.k.a. as kitten…ble item in Rata-Sum or personnal instance, with only tribulation mode giving tokens for items that are only soulbound and can’t ever be traded for money, and are earned through time and hardship ? (which is just a proposition of course, you can adapt it in may other ways but that one would be, I think, the most satisfactoy and the least annoying to the economic market as there would be no prices drop).

I might also point out that the SAB skins were really, really earned, the few ones you could loot through RNG in normal mode set aside. Especially for world two which should honestly have been splitted in multiple parts for each level given how time consumming that one was (and how one dc due to wifi and whatever else would make you lose all the time invested). Having the time to unlock them properly wouldn’t be a shame, honestly, you can’t collect them just like that, it takes an investment, which is why I think that it would be much more healthy to do something along the lines of what I proposed rather than only release it for a few weeks every year, making it impossible to get all the skins you like, let alone all the skins, especially with more and more worlds. Once more, you can bring it back without having to include it in the LS, people just want to play their favorite (mini)game, they don’t mind it not having anything to do with slaying a dragon, just like they like the other festivals when they’re not included in the LS.

Also, could you explain more precisely what you think is a problem in NPE ?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you even more if you can actually answer some of those questions. I apologize for any mistakes I made as english isn’t my native language.

Have a nice day,

Edit : language filter didn’t appreciate us…ble.

Edit 2 : Oh, also, I feel a bit silly asking a question you’ve probable seen a hundred time, but… it was said early on, before the game was released I believe, that there will be new weapons coming out over time. Is it still a thing or has it been abandonned?, asks the cute kitty from my signature (a.k.a. me).

The asian country relations are still really tense, for those who don’t know. Also, chinese/japanese/koreans are kind of sensitive about those things, I think. Because the memory there is still fresh about what happened in the past, and China is a market they’re trying to conquer, there is a problem with releasing past continents.

As far as I know newer generations are less rascist so we’ll have to see what they decide to do, but I think that’s their main problem and that’s part of why NCsoft refused that (maybe because they’re korean themselves, though, yeah).
There is no problem between America and Europe, we get along fine, also we’re continents in which there have been a lot of immigration, we’re less sensitive and the past is the past anyways. Asian countries have been under much less cultural mix and they remember more than we do.

Giving Up

GW2 at release was magical base-foot-basket-cricket-tennis-golf-snowball. You may not remember or understand that, but it had the potential to be all those things, and it still does. That was the vision, and it would indeed be quite sad if it does not live up to that, because it would make a lot of people happy if it does.

It never really had that potential, because there aren’t enough devs in the world to give it that potential. It doesn’t exist. For one thing making changes to the game for one demographic kittenes off another. So for some people it will never be all things.

There are people who say without open world PvP this game isn’t worth it. It’s not their demographic. That’s it. If they put it it, it wouldn’t be my demographic.

MMO players are very much divided about what they want in an MMO.

ANet stated multiple things. They defined what were their targets. They end up focusing on less and less targets. That’s the problem. If they couldn’t keep up then it was their duty to not advertise for that as much as they did. Since they didn’t it’s our right and duty to be disappointed and to tell them so. It might not have occured to them but their passion is nonexistant without the players. One day people will see GW3, and they’ll think whether “great, I loved gw2 and ANet was such a great compagny and stuff”, whether “another Molyneux in the video games industry”.

Actually most people would totally pay for an add-on if that meant some true change. If that means that their targetted audience would be satisfied, then what’s 40€/$ or bit more ? The playerbase like their philosophy as long as they can hold to it, once they start disappointing it’s just a vicious circle, they’ll get less and less and do less and less. GW2 / ANet was the game/compagny that kept our expectations really high, and it could have been that : the reason it wasn’t the case is that ANet screwed like COMPLETELY season 1 of LS and waster a whole year, they made a super-grindy game when they said “no grinding”, they didn’t care about sPvP or WvW much, they based the endgame mostly on alts while screwing low levels with traits coming up at sloth speed, & such. They avoided making too many promises yet they made so many empty ones. They made mistakes and players told them countless times that they were screwing up. Now it’s their problem, whether they fix it (which they won’t do since they’re gonna focus on a story basically written by a two years old this year apparently) whether it’ll just get worse and worse. I love the game, yet I feel like something is wrong so much I’m writing a hate post on the forum of the game I love. Like so many others I just want it to live up to the expectations, yet…

Starting to wonder, does ANet have any clue on what to do or are they just playing piñata with their game?

Like really, that interview is a f.ing blow to me. All you have to do is let players play. Even just W1/W2, even with no rewards / harder to get, just ENABLE it, for God’s sake. It’s not even like a minigame, you absollutely don’t need other people, you don’t have to enable it 1 week on 52 so everyone will play it at the same time, just let the huge part of the community that liked it play.

People looked down at living story. Since the start. You didn’t let that go. Good part just loved SAB, yet you just go “screw that”. Well it may seems weird to you, but you’re creating a game for the players to enjoy. At the very least make players that liked it and bought the infinite coin able to play it and use ressources on that later if you want to focus on living story, but stop being so deaf and clueless. I have no idea who’s behind the “How to integrate SAB in the game” thing, but he’s gotta have Alzheimer’s or something because we don’t want it as a living story, we want it like it was before. ANet could be suge a great compagny if they stopped to randomly make changes. As it is it looks to me like they’re playing the RNG game in their studios. Sometimes we get a great update, sometimes they screw up the personnal story. Sometimes they go “we don’t want anymore farmfest for now”, yet the next update is a farmfest. Sometimes they play dumb when they know exactly what the community wants and they know it would take no efforts to put it back and develop it later. Hell, even the weapons, all they take is “which color will I use” and they have a whole new “set” for the SAB, people want that too.

“lol but I have exotic weapons bought multiple times, refund pls” – as if a few golds was the same as three thousands golds.

“but you got a title, it’s nice, letting you with a weapon that, as it has been posted and proven before has no more value than 1k1 golds at best is completely fine and shouldn’t be adressed, not even just unbind them so you can sell them! also ANet acted really nice towards you by giving you this, it’s worth 2k golds !”

I’m sorry, but all I’m hearing is “it’s too hard”.

Maybe you should work on your reading skills then. Denying his arguments without properly answering to them is of no interest.

“You must not understand the implications to what a “private map” would do. The whole reason for the private map or shard is to exclude players. "

You must not understand what “open world” means in ANet mouth, as they already explained their thinking.

Things lacking are basically a queue for joining / a guide (events shown on whole map, indicating number of people at the event, etc.). There is none of that. The event is not hard, it’s made hard. Completing it without proper tools and with tools so we could actually do something productive without needing a freaking teamspeak would be day and night. Plus it’s boring aswell since it requires you to complete it again and again for the rewards and the events in themselves are not quite fascinating.

But all you’ll read is it’s too hard

Did Megaservers ruin Events?

Incredible how people think you want to spend hours “organizing” an event that will most likely fail, which you might not necessarily know at all since you’re not on Deso. Because we all enjoy organizing, we all have fun doing it, there’s no disappointment when you waste hours when it fails… well even when it succeeds.

Tequatl @ release was just bad, not because it was just hard but because only a few could do it. If you guys can try and remember how it was : you needed commanders. Badly. I don’t care if you did it without once, forums were filled up with “omg thiz iz so hardz”, guilds formed to beat Teq, the event needed a lot of organization, plus it was new and what’s new needs to be beaten so the player can learn. So yeah, only a few servs could do it, since not everyone have the time to organize it, not everyone has the skills or the possibility to organize it and not everyone have fun organizing it. For the far majority guesting was the only way they would have fun. Act like a smarta..s all you want, this is the truth you don’t want to face because “they took our jobs and now they take our community, oh my god!!!”.

“Moreover, if you want to kill Tequalt or Wurm you need to camp a map spot at least 1 hour before now (it was same in the old system though). "

1 hour, that was if you were organized. Otherwise it would take much more. I can get to Teq 30 minutes early and still kill it by now (and standing there for hours is no fun).

Not sure how ‘too much hype’ and ‘they don’t say anything’ can be resolved.

I didn’t feel there was much hype, at all. Never once did the Devs say there would be a new zone. In fact, there were plenty of threads insisting there would not be. It was a pleasant surprise for me.

I prefer the smaller, more frequent updates to the larger, wait-forever kind. But, that’s just my personal preference.

Just answering to this, I don’t have enough time to read others, but yes they teased. They posted a screen of a portal. Leading to a new zone. We knew it was, we new where it was. Also, they posted a tumblr, they’re only post here if I’m right, where I think there are some more clues (didn’t checked though, that’s not 100% sure).
Zones are the sensitive things since the start since that mostly means new dungeons & such – hopefully. So if you place yourself from the position of someone that really wants one, this portal was just a paradise of hopes. They knew that. That’s why they did it. If you tease then include one that is, for now, not relevant to the player’s expectation, aka for nom it’s just for the LS just like southsun, then yes you hype for nothing. I also like they updating style but quite frankly sometimes it’s a bit boring to see the same scheme, all over again, always. They will keep that, then good. But for God’s sake, atleast inform us. Talk. Speak. Write. Hear us atleast ? I don’t know. Do something, that can’t be hard, hire someone to talk with the fans and there we go.

Also I see alot of “blitzing through the content in a day” in this thread. Just to be clear, I only played a few hours. Explored all the map and did all the events which I can’t rush, I’m just doing them as they come. Yes I still have a few things to do, like getting the recipes. And talking to npc. And that’s it.

If chapter 2 does not deliver.....

You need to look at it this way. First don’t reply with “I didn’t do what you said”, I’m talking about what was making 90% of the video games forums post, pre and post launch/patches, not about you.

GW2 promised many things and it still do. Players were expecting giant, epic battles. We were told of a dynamic, “living” story which is something we don’t have in others MMO.

What was LS1, and gw2 at launch ?

None of that. Epic battles ? Do you remember Zhaitan, how much you laughed and cried at the same time during this scene ? Do you remember Scarlet, how everyone hated her, wanted her gone, how poor were our fights with her ? How she was, and is apparently, supposed to be part of a bigger plot but instead since everyone just hate her nothing’s gonna shine through it ?

ANet failed to deliver to many players, yes ; and that’s their own fault. Players will ALWAYS say “omg this is so great I can’t wait”, because they’re FAN, they love the game, this is the ones that are the most easily disappointed because they expect so much from their favorite game. There are some that are more calm and will take more caution. But they’re a minority. And ANet, well… they’re excited for literally nothing. Every update, they would go “this is amazing guys we can’t wait”, they made the hype go even higher, and do you know where that leads ? Disappointment. Exactly. You hype for something REAL big, not when you have this two weeks schedule and don’t deliver much at the same time.
There, we were teased with a portal to a new zone. They know what people want. They want a new race (Tengus for most), they want new dungeons, they want new weapons, they want actual content in a new zone. That’s what they expect from a new zone. They don’t care about the LS2 story, because LS1 was a ruin, all they want is actual gameplay.

ANet did chose to continue their story. They did hype with the most sensitive thing there would be (a new zone) and left us with a little one ; just one small, little sparkle that lighted a fire, they knew that would happen, it always do. You can’t let people think you’re going with something big and then do it so slowly. If you do this, you have to communicate, which they don’t. All they would need would be to state if they’re planning to implement weaps, races, dungeons, zones, gear, blablablah, anytime soon. Regularly. And people would know what to expect, the hype would be controlled, there, no disappointment whatsoever. Maybe a little “ah, I wished”, but when the update comes, we know roundly what to expect, the fans don’t go crazy all over the place then feel like they were let down. But ANet don’t, they let the story repeat itself at each update.

Also, it’s another event where organizing looks very interesting, but honestly I just don’t have the will to look “again” in LFG to find good maps, neither do I have the will or the possibility to organize a good one myself, and it’s not like we’d have that many tools once again. I’m not enjoying doing this as this is a “spam to join” fest again, therefore I’m barely doing the event, just got the achievements and played with the events a bit then left waiting for the next, but I’m only talking for myself there as I’ve grown tired of it with the jubilee.

Really, all they need to do would just be to talk with us, but they’re not. How I would LOVE if a game dev would tell me if they plan to implement those kitten crossbows, y’know ? Yes, no, maybe, just tell us something interesting. Stop this kitten hype circle, it always disappoint unless it’s REAL big like an extension or something, the fans do enough of a hype, don’t overdo it.

I’m speaking as someone who both love the new shiny loot and the story, but has been left with a weird taste in mouth with LS1. Yeah, cool, I got shiny loot, but gameplay and story were so, so poor. I love the game, I really do, but I understand when people are disappointed, because I see how ANet acts, and I know what players do. ANet has to adapt to players, not the other way around. Maybe for their third or four games will they understand that playing the “when it’s ready” card along with the “omg shiniz so good excited much heartbeat we’re dying from anticipation, can’t wait so wow” when it’s about to be out does. not. work. Players have to feel like they’re heard, like ANet is actually somewhat close to it’s players.

[Suggestion] Disease

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: AnAspieKitten.5732

AnAspieKitten.5732

(0.05*Condition Damage) + 42.5 * 1.333 per stack per second at Level 80

Change that to (5*CD) + 212,5*6,5 per stack per second at level 80 if not moving and/or spamming 1 for too long and together let’s eradicate the zerg

More seriously, it’s a pretty hard thing to balance. Not in dungeons ; but in world events, for exemple, it would spread quickly and might be deadly ; or might not at all if people don’t actively cleanse at once. With this kind of condition you give great potential power. Great, great, great potential power. Depending on how the players react to it, it can mean nthing, or mean the end of the world. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice thing if it takes a bit of reaction ; but I’d see it more on the new bosses ANet want to make (you know, the “hardcore” bosses like Wurm since it seems to be their new focus on the matter).

Also, it would add another damage condition. Burning and bleed (and a little poison too) do that. We could maybe see that as a temporary state ; one guy gets disease, which means he can transfer it to others and everything. But while he has disease, he slowly gets affected by it (maybe more quickly if other sick players are around ?) ; he gets slower, chills run down his spine, but it still feels like his body is burning as the disease poisons it, and then he starts agonizing and bleeding… see where I’m going ? Disease could be also be a state using condition. You get sick ; first you’re slower, not much, like 10 percent. But that grows over time, ultimately getting you Crippled. In the meantime, your cooldowns are all rising as the Chill rises ; then the Burning starts, etc. you get my point. I can’t think of a “new” thing to add as a pure condition (they could add a new mechanic to it while they’re at it, like they could add the throw up from the wurm, but honestly getting stunned every 10 seconds like that is just a frustrating move) ; however, as a state (that could still be reversed by condi removals, being primarly focused ; would it need one removal or more, I don’t know, just think-storming here), I think it could be interesting.

Eh, since we go into the jungle tomorrow, let’s imagine. You could have a new boss corrupted by Mordy so it’s not too weird to imagine that it would spread disease ; or more like, spawn things, like I don’t know, just some kind of plants, that would get players sick at each pulse until it’s destroyed.

Just putting what comes to my mind of course. This kind of thing is usually “very” hard to balance for game designers ; often, whether it’s deadly, whether it’s uneffective, because whether the group is efficient whether they suck at removing conditions and end up dead. That would be the point of the disease, after all, and I would perfectly see it being put on new bosses, just not as another damage condition maybe.

However if ANet is integrating this, PLEASE, for the Kitty Lord’s sake, just PLEASE put something to explain to players, don’t let the huge majority fool around for thirty days wondering why everyone flees when they come, just give us a NPC explaining things to people for ONCE.

Edit : I might add ; the reason stacking exists is because mobs are stupid, yes ; and that AoE is GW2. Take Shake It Off ; there are skills that make people want to stack. Yet those skills would still be the thing against disease.

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: AnAspieKitten.5732

Anyways, if Gauntlet is farmable then we should be able to play it instanced. Maybe one arena instanced or I don’t know, let the debuffs from the gambits stay for next try and add a way to queue up faster, it’s all simple and much better. Let it open for the rest that want to do it with random people.

An enormous amount of content in this game is farmable, even though the dev never imagined that it could be farmed. This is not enough to justify that it should be tweaked to make life easier for the farmers.

Eotm is the best example of how we (the player base) have managed to transform the overflow of the wvw in a giant karma train for PvE players.

Tell me : Should the pvp aspect of eotm removed so that the zergs could go from one special objective to the other undisturbed ? Do you really think this would improve the game ? Of course no! Part of the charm of eotm is seeing a commando of 10 players stop an entire farming crowd in a few seconds.

Long story short, because you farm some content does not grant you priority over people who use said content the way it was intended. In fact, it should be the opposite. Anet could make gauntlet instanced, but it would destroy its primary social function and make it very boring for everyone (farming this gauntlet is already boring btw, I tried it for 15 min then I coudn’t take it anymore).

Lol dude, Gauntlet is MADE for farming, they did see that last year and they included things that are worth a hell lot this year. Hard to get = cost more, but you can still get this (after the droprates were patched) which means there WILL be a tons of people farming it and ANet knows it. Gambits makes fights boring. More challenging, but being limited will always end up with you being fed up with this, because if you can barely move there’s no fun. So the reason they’re used is more than mainly farming. And Anet knows it, it’s been like that for two years, YES that is enough to justify it because THEY’re the ones willing it. EOTM is how it’s supposed to be, unless they nerf the karma train. Since they already nerfed karma ressources to the ground people would dislike it ; and the karma nerf is the exact reason people farm EOTM, bring back the normal karma rewards and the train is almost gone already, apart from the levelers. This is made for them. We’re not to be held responsible for this.

EOTM is almost PvE right now anyways, two zerg might collapse, yeah, great, then it’s another 50 minutes length farm.

You’re just seeing things as it pleases you, even when it’s obvious ANet has spent the whole LS1 bringing up farming events and functions. They intended the farm. They knew it was gonna happen, they wanted it. For two years now. But because YOU don’t farm, you feel the need to be a self-centered nuisance to the others. So I will now repeat : instance one are(n)a for the farmers AND those who just want to do their bosses without waiting 10 minutes (because believe me there are a lot of people that are just annoyed by that), let the rest open for the others. See, everyone wins, everyone’s happy. Apart from the Boss Blitz since gauntlet users are taking room for nothing (for them), but I guess the Boss Blitz farm wasn’t intented either and we’re just making a bad use of it, right ? So it’s a very good design that Gauntlet is placed on the same area.

Yeah, I hardly see how mid and low sized guilds are any of your concern there. Megaservers didn’t impact it for the least. Low/mid sized guilds = do dungeons. Do WvW. Grab your buds and have fun wherever you want even if it’s Teq.

Big mega sized guilds = whether specialized in Tequatl & the others (Teq and Karka were already easily done and Megaserver just helped, Wurm still requires much more than just getting in a server and killing it), whether they don’t care.

Like really, is it the concern of a medium sized guild to bring all of their members to a WB to complete it ? Was your guild relying on it ? How does that even have anything to do ith dungeons ?

Farmers are not a minority, lol. Atleast a big part of gauntlet users. What do you expect when you have to farm 1, 2, 3k chances to get something ? You NEED to maximize returns, at 300 tickets per hour (more or less depending on build) without 3 people queueing up that’s slow as hell.

I also congratulate the first few posts that feel obliged to tell the OP that he lacks patience when he clearly stated that he does try and find an empty server (dc rc multiple times, lfg, or what do I know). As always, people need to do that to feel smart.

For the record, I did beat it first year, and all along all I wished was an instanced arena so I wouldn’t need to wait hours for my turn given the number of tries I had to do on liadry. Yeah talking to people was nice there, but god kitten , the wait was atleast as long or twice longer that my own turn, and while I wait I’m not enjoying anything, if I want to talk to random people I have way cooler ways to do it.

Hey dude, I for one don’t care about your opinion. You are no judge of anyone here, so keep that condescending and aggresive tone to yourself and speak calmly or keep quiet.

I hardly see how changing the number 5 to 60 would be an issue. It’s just a number. Nothing else. I can hardly see many issues with changing a variable to what’s already in place on other tonics.

“I knew that game had glitches and balancing issues. Therefore I should complain about it before buying it because I’ve seen so many Warrior op QQ posts. Or buy it and shut my mouth, they’re busy with Living Story enough.”

We can complain without being judged by some random kid on the internet. You, on the other hand, have no business acting kitteny over something that simple that is a matter of QoL – you know, “fun”, which you’re supposed to have in a videogame.

Been playing since release, pretty sure I just paid more on the fee trying to list a 150g item few weeks ago than 2 years of repair.
It’s not they can’t, it’s they don’t want, no points discussing it.

Anyways, as already said, play the “mailing tree” thing.

Eh, we paid 100 golds for that (100 bags of t6 for our hundred laurels spent on the tonic). I’d agree that we should, as with other tonics, be able to be transformed for an unlimited amount of time. They already have day long buff, then why can’t they just do that too ?

No items in skillbar, random transformations, and everything, we would deserve to get that even more than other tonics. Combat tonics too. I seriously must miss ANet’s point with those things, they CAN make it avaible for forever, they just chose to put annoying limits on it for little to no reason.

Which GW2 Character Are You? (MBTI Test)

Eh, c’mon, I’m Marjory too.

INFJ
Introvert(89%) iNtuitive(12%) Feeling(12%) Judging(11%)

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (89%)
You have slight preference of Intuition over Sensing (12%)
You have slight preference of Feeling over Thinking (12%)
You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (11%)

Not sure about the validity of this though. For instance I’m basically hyperemotive and tend to spend hours thinking, yet it’s quite a low number given I believe almost all of my answers would affirm that. Last time I did that kind of test I was, I think, classified as ISTP, so Caithe. I’d feel closer to that, or Kasmeer.

I think these tests should be taken with a grain of salt but seeing as your IFJ results are all in the 10% mark it does indicate that you’re sort of that but not quite that either as you said.

Mine was:

Introvert(89%) iNtuitive(50%) Feeling(38%) Judging(1%)

So I have that 1% Judging which could easily make me potentially INFP as well.

No I mean I’m clinically diagnosed as hyperemotive by multiple (neuro)psychologists as part of other things, so I’d tend to trust that rather than an online test. ;-p
I tend to be introvert too (well it has been clearly overdramatized compared to other things, in this test), maybe does that lower the “emotionnal” part when I say I tend to have troubles expressing it correctly.
Also, not sure what the “perceiving” thing means…

The policy on reporting griefers and AFKs?

… well you just said it. Twice atleast. That was bright. I loved the “don’t blame me for exploiting a clear flaw that ought to be fixed since they probably just forgot to be more specific in their code” part, great sense of “blame them while I take as much as I can from it”.

As to wether they do something or not, you don’t know. Everyone says they do nothing, that is for every game. Literally. That happenned for everything. But truth is you don’t know. And yes, there is some “spying” and everything in WvW, well guess what, ANet isn’t going to come on teamspeak and check that, and they might be okay with it since it’s a war environnement.

Though they most likely will be way less okay with people being openly disrespectful in a fun environment. Go ahead, enjoy it. Screw other people so you can have, what, 20 more AP ? I normally wouldn’t care. But if they decide to act against the disrespectful kids in the game I’d slowly clap in your honor while trying to remember how much I’d hate you for destroying others pleasure for a virtual number.

Eh, well. People do grow up someday. Most of them atleast.

Afking isn’t punishable because no matter where you do it it is your right. Even in pavillion, in a minigame, wherever you want, you can go afk. It might be disrespectful or whatever, but it’s your right. You can also (F word) something up by not putting a skill when you needed to or something, that’s not bannable. Reasons are that it can be trolling but can also be an emergency, a bad player, or a myriad of other reasons.

However griefing, I’d act a bit more carefully if I were you. As poor as the level design is, we remember ANet basically saying “it’s obvious it shouldn’t be like that, so don’t abuse it” for karma sets isues, for exemple.

(oh and yeah you’re also actively playing against your team on purpose, which annoys them WAY more and is way more disrespectful than going afk or something. So yeah. Care.)

Well as I said, try and hop on another server, or wait if there isn’t any. Check up the rules if this is written somewhere as I didn’t necessarily felt willing to read through all the website to see if it is mentionned, but I don’t think it is. In worst case, try emailing ANet support with screens and everything. Not sure they handle those requests so ask if they can treat it or transmit it.

AFKing isn’t a valable reason to report and will only charge those supposed to put a sentence on that a bit more, ultimately punishing you at best I expect. You can’t really ban people because they went away, be it on purpose or not.

Botting is a reason to report, and I’m pretty sure it falls under a special category for it on the report window.

Basically playing against your team, I must say I’m not sure since I’ve never witnessed that. But then again I don’t think that’s reportable, just find another server.

As I previously pointed out on other threads, there are real people paid to do this, who probably gets thousands of reports per day. And when they ban someone, which I believe they primarly do based on chat logs then on a further investigation for special cases like botting, it means that person has invested hundreds or thousands of hours, XX(X)(X) dollars/euros/whatever in the game, and it’s basically all ruined. For all I know ANet doesn’t punish lightly, when the banhammer strikes it strikes hard, so let’s keep being reasonnable ; offensive language, botting and the like are a reason to report, some light things like AFKing where people would like you not to are not.

You won’t get any player back with SAB. As much as I enjoyed it it’s still a minigame that gets you rewards in the game, but if you left you won’t come back for SAB. You will come back for new zones/race/weaps/classes/any actual content. even if you come back, it’s like completely outside the game, you use different skills, environment and graphics are of course completely different, there’s nothing that will make you say “hey they added that, how cool”, because nup.
