I don’t want it tone down because of misconceptions about it
is it the most powerful class in the game PVE wise ? yes well right beside guardian of course.

Neither warriors nor guardians are the most powerful profession in the game, PvE wise.
Eles are, by a HUGE amount.
The thing that needs to be (or at least should be) changed is the current risk vs. reward situation.
Warriors get medium to high reward for pretty much zero skill requirement.
Eles get very high reward for very high skill requirement.
Thieves get medium to high reward for high skill requirement or (S/P) medium reward for low skill requirement.

However, I’d like to +1 haviz.1340

You won’t see more than 2 warriors used in any real speedrun (the ones that use 3 warriors are flat out bad or old). Doing a speedrun with more than 2 warriors, not to mention 5, would result in horrible results.

It’s actually somewhat following, safest method is to simply melee her, dodge (pretty hard, kittenty little animation) her one-arrow-pushback shot (she aims a bit into the air) and if you can’t do that, simply get a wall behind you and dodge forward to her once you’re knocked back.
The least annoying methods to do this boss are:
Warrior, Guardian: Running in and out, always meleeing until 50% (own) HP. She takes some while to reset.
Eles, Engineers: Safespot ranging her.
Thief: Initiative regen traits, signet of malice, spam S/P #3.

Without a wall it’s pretty obviously 3 eles, 1 warrior, 1 mesmer. Four times fiery rush + blink and five ice storms are enough to kill any level 80-82 dungeon boss. And if they aren’t, you still have 5 seconds of timewarp left.

I mean, pure berserker isn’t even superior to pure assassins in lots of cases. They are usually about as effective as (in party runs or on self-buffing professions) and especially for reflects assassins is definitely better than berserkers.

Zerk >>> Sin since even in full zerk you can easily go over 100% crit (at least on warr and thief but probably guard too unless you stack bloodlust). And you still do more damage having higher power and a bit less crit chance than the other way around

Having the goal to reach 100% critchance is usually stupid, the key behind a successful build is behind getting a nice balance between precision, critical damage and power. As for pure assassin vs berserker, usually pure assassin wins. There’s some things like bloodlust/perception stacks, power/precision food and power/precision signets you might have never heard of.

Maybe. Anyways the reasoning stay the same. The Elementalist don’t have as much dps as a warrior on their own, but they bring FGS and can give might and fury. Depending on the party build and composition the fury and might will reach their maximum with 1 or 2 Elementalist. After that the Elementalist don’t bring enough advantage over a Warrior.

An elementalists personal dps is way above a warriors. Actually we’re using 2-4 elementalists for speedruns and just 0-1 warrior. And the elementalists might stacking ability is unmatched. While still maintaining very strong dps a single elementalists can provide 21-24 might for the party.

And yes, I meant persisting flames which makes elementalist being the only profession providing permanent party wide fury.

If a party member deals 10k dps over 15 seconds and is dead for the last 5 seconds of a fight and another party member is dealing 2k dps over 20 seconds, being alive all time, who dealt more damage?

To make it clear for you: someone using a proper build could die after 5 seconds on any encounter in the game and would have still contributed a lot more than someone in random stuff, being alive all time.

Err, you should have better used 30/30/10/0/0 on staff ele and 25/25/10/10/0 on S/X. Persisting flames is a must have to not let the staff ele deal awful dps.
Aside of that and a few mistakes a pretty clean run.

I’ve always believed that anyone is free to exercise their freedom, so long that it doesn’t limit others’.

The OP created this thread in such a way that it doesn’t attempt to coerce others to play the way he wants, and in my opinion, this should be respected whether we agree or disagree with his intent.

I like things done quickly and efficiently, so I would never partake in this initiative, but by no means do I condemn it.

If there was an intended way, it would definitely include skipping and using terrain (although not to use safespots). I recall dungeons being meant to only be completable with an organized group of good players. Currently any party consisting of five first timers and random weapon sets is able to complete them.

While I think I understand your point (at least I hope I am), one must realize if dungeons are to “only be completable by organized group(s) of good players” and not for the “five first timers and random weapon sets”, how would you ever be able to get the “organized group”? In short, you wouldn’t. It needs to be able to be worked by anyone with communication (type or voice) and some collective thought. My group that does dungeons is only 4 currently. We have found a perfect synergy within our group and we know what the other is doing and what we need to do. We don’t skip, stack, or anything like that. Once, with 3 (which is how we started and we added a new person into our static group in recently) in the party we completed Arah (not even with 4 or 5).

Allowing new players to learn about the dungeons is important. I’m not saying everyone has to let every new player in, but even you were new to the dungeons once upon a time – as was I, and everyone who runs them, and was/is/will be on this thread. Don’t be so quick to discount or dismiss them, they might even be able to come up with some idea, or thought, or combination that anyone here in the thread could learn from.

This later post is an excellent example of why dungeons should be able to be run by anyone (otherwise these people miss out on a portion of the game they paid for the right to play:

I hate to say it, but, it’s just a really bad time right now for newbie dungeoneers who are looking for exciting and memorable dungeon experiences.

Obviously I’ve been new to dungeons in general once too and had to learn. Does that somehow interfere with my previous statement? All I said is that dungeons (explorable mode) were meant to only be completable with a skilled and organized group (story mode being for others). Thats what arenanet themselves advertised.
Being a skilled player and being experienced in dungeons are two different things. A skilled player is able to read enemies skills on his own and acts in a way to counter them, possibly benefitting the whole party. Experienced (non-skilled) players mindlessly use skills preemptively in order to be safe from certain attacks.
And this should, in my opinion, not work. In order to be able to complete a dungeon, your party should consist of 5 skilled players (who can adapt to the most optimal gear/weapon/traitset). And currently five randoms with extremely subpar builds can faceroll their way through, as you can see from our cleric runs.

This should be changed.

What the kitten is going on in this thread.

If you’re talking about pug situations, where people are unable to create or blast firefields and fury is not given, warrior does the highest personal dps. An elementalist with purging flames (s/x) would increase the parties overall damage more than a warrior, even if doing nothing but stacking might (considering each party member has about equal damage output). Warriors max. dps build is 30/25/0/0/15. To reach the highest damage with a single attack, it’s 30/25/0/10/5.
Now to organized (but real situations, i.e. 25 might, fury, banners, but not the unlikely situation of pets permanently attacking, illusions never bugging out or dying or minions of a necro surviving). Elementalist and thief being unmatched, guardians still deal around 25% more damage than warriors (5% without aegis). Rangers, necros, mesmers and engineers are all behind the warrior. A ranger with a fully buffed pet, constantly attacking reaches equal dps to warriors (with a 1h sword never interrupting the chain to be able to dodge). A mesmer wuth 3 fully buffed swordsmen has the potential to climb over the top of a thief. Necromancers are not too far behind warriors, engineers being the least damage dealing profession.

About the support question, this is like comparing a F1 car to a dirt-rally car.
The guardian is mainly giving defensive supports whereas the warriors support (should be) solely offensive.

The only possibility to escape the crystals as a warrior is going down, so in order to succeed at alpha, you need to get yourself downed at the right time (to rally of tendrils).

Or you just do it like me, take off your armor, jewelry and autoattack a boss to death, going afk. Coming back you watch how long it took you to kill him and then do the same with potion. When testing undead + undead sigil out of five tests the largest variance was three seconds out of five minutes, which is 0.01%.

A guildie of Dolan was banned for selling an (exploited?) arah path, so Dolan asked the dev if he has griefed him. The dev asked Dolan if he was an arah seller and 10 seconds later Dolans account has been terminated.
Indeed, a rather unbelievable story which sounds totally like ArenaNet, though.

Don’t expect anything noteworth of me, as I had some delay (~0.2 seconds until my action appears ingame, ~0.5 seconds until the server responds) it wasn’t even an easy task to close up on running. Not to mention that arcane shield at hunter/crusher that the game did not want to execute.

Interestingly, I made another speedtest to Dallas (server hosted by Skysmth) and got the result of 67ms ping, 44mbit/s download and 3.02mbit/s upload, which is horrible for me, but yet is in no relation to gw2 servers. Pingtest to Francfurt was 14ms ping with 80mbit/s download and 5.88mbit/s upload. So that can’t be it either.

Engineer here, my favourite activity is showing how kittened some forum warriors (usually in the guardian sub forum, I’m looking at you, s*l3n7storm) are. All posts usually turn into explosive infractions, usually as long until one of us is banned.

Two months ago I had 7397 AP, yet I’m not even close to reaching 7500. Dailies are my only AP source and I don’t do dailies. You don’t get any points for playing (comparatively) ‘hardcore’ content. I know some great players with up to 13k (you’re all dirty achievement whores and living story farmers) but I can’t say 15k+ AP players are any better than 2k AP ones.

I’ve been kicked quite a few times in AC pug runs too. Once, they lured the spider queen but it went out of melee range, so I followed her in order to avoid the poison fields. Well, Pugs didn’t do so, she used the poison attack, I quickly dodged out and solo’ed her once the others died. They accused me of doing it wrong, because ‘stacking prevents the aoe’. However, we reach Kholer. All four pugs are going into that corner in the pillar where you can’t see kitten. I adapt, pull Kholer and run there. He gets into the corner, being totally covered by particle effects and does the pull. As I realize the CC, I teleport out, being the only one to survive. Solo’ing a bit further, as they didn’t manage to attack the mobs I fgs’ed down, they tell me that I once again messed up by ’not stacking so they all wipe, followed by loading screen.

Also fun when you tell people they should stop messing howling king add’s aggro up, they argue with ‘you die too so shut up’. When I tell them I could easily solo, they tell it’s impossible and I should show them. Doing so, all adds dying before reaching me, seeing loading screen at 15% boss hp.

Tl;dr: nothing wrong with stacking, it’s just the people who think stacking itself is effective, not understanding it’s the positioning which is important.

PS: From now on I’m going to kick anyone who’s willing to do Kholer in that dumb corner. There are so many better LoS spots, especially when solo/duo’ing with active adds.

As long as we do not submit this as a world record to gwscr, everything seems fine to me. I uploaded my 45 seconds lupicus kill as “world record” true, but didn’t include it in the record list. I’m actually fine with the rules for boss kills you came up with on the meeting, I just will not change the ever existing ruleset for lupicus kills in my thread. If we ever submit something as a world record to gwscr that doesn’t match the rules, feel free to decline it.

The biggest issue I have with your assumptions now comes, as it seems pretty contradicting to me: you assume that the ele is the only person stacking any might in the group. As an engineer stacks 6 might on average, using a somewhat close to optimal rotation (little vuln stacks lost, assuming no other party members do vulnerability, but small gain in personal damage) and two warriors using FGJ or Warbanner, of which both stack 3 might, just to maintain the required fury, this just becomes impossible. Especially considering the mesmer has to use the signet to get the last bit of fury uptime done. You can’t be the only person stacking might when you assume permanent vulnerability and fury.

As next point, which you didn’t nessecarily involve but follows from the topic “speed runs”, there is swiftness. Okay, no big deal, two warriors with warhorn and/or a guardian with Retreat easily take care of that. But at the same time, they again gain an additional blast finisher on a 20 seconds cooldown to blast your fire fields, resulting in 6 might. No need to use Mace offhand, since it only has a 1% damage increase over pure Axe when vuln is being capped (which is, engineer!). So at least 12 stacks of might are constantly being given by your party, even when warriors are using banners out of your fields and the mesmer does not use SoI. Furthermore, assuming the engineer is required to stack vuln, you can cap vuln without him spamming grenades only and he is able to do a rather easy rotation with bomb kit each 20 seconds, you’re now at 18 might, 6 coming per warrior and the engineer. To cap 25 stacks, you personally only have to do 7 might stacks to cap might.
Since some of the skills in an elementalists might stacking rotation have a low coefficient, including the healing skill, you can now just kick them out of your rotation to gain some personal DPS increase, while not affecting the party at all. Or you use them for blast finishers when stealthing, for whatever reason.

As this has been my main concern, I’ll not go into detail for the last few points I make and just mention what’s not realistic.

Earth 25 (full endurance) on 100% uptime. Meanwhile you already updated this to 50% uptime, which is an acceptable value, as there are some bossfights with less and some with more uptime.

Conjurer not being required. Most important trait an elementalist can chose, aside of Purging Flames and Air 25. Not only for the countless situation an FGS results in a fairly high dps increase (basically all situations, even with just one rush combined with lightning flash) which leads to the next small thing I’d like to mention: usually taking lightning flash and doing one fiery rush, is almost always worth more than taking signet of fire. Most bosses have about 1.2 million health so their healthpool fits doing 2x rush with lighning flash pretty well. Or just dropping arcane wave, although that’s a quite nice utility skill overall.

Not all targets can bleed and/or burn. I think in CoF there are quite some bosses that are immune to burning (?).

Ascended armor, ascended weapons, ascended trinkets but no stat infusions? I think anyone who can afford 800g for ascended armor can very well afford some laurels/WvW badges or gold to at least get the stat increase of offensive infusion slots, which is pretty much at the same level of damage increase as a whole ascended armor.

Last point: a bit too much theory. All this is indeed very helpful and I really appreciate all the work done, but it is a bit too theoretical for my taste. Even if editing assumptions, most builds that will come out as max. damage won’t be suitable for real dungeon/fractal runs.
