From the Cin Business achievement’s text: Find goods that might interest Cin-some that he lost, some that he wants to sell. “What have you got for ol’ Cin, eh?”
Me: “Awesome, finally another scavenger hunt with some story elements!”
“…nope, Cin has no in-game dialogue referencing this collection even though he seems to have dialogue in the achievement text…”
“And he won’t acknowledge I’ve found any items or actually buy them from me. What the hell??”
Anet, for over a year now you guys have been having a serious issue making achievement items clog up inventories for absolutely no reason. As far as I know, some legendary collection items STILL make you type their name out to delete them which is absolutely ridiculous, and they serve no other purpose. Single-acquisition collection items (not like the spoons bought for karma) should all be like the exotic accessories for the specialization collections; each one has SOME sell value to merchants to easily (and rewardingly) get rid of useless crap that serves no other purpose.
Conceptually, I enjoyed the Lake Doric scavenger hunt more than the Mursaat Tokens in Ember Bay; fewer to find, less frustrating to find. Eighteen items of inventory spam, however, is just ludicrous. Not all of the collection items even had flavor text, so what’s the point? Having to manually delete eighteen pointless items just for a collection is not fun or engaging. Selling items to a vendor with a single click each, now that’s a different story.
Thank you for a more interesting collection scavenger hunt this update, but PLEASE don’t do it like this again. Cin doesn’t even have any in-game interaction with the achievement. Even a sell value of 1 silver on useless collection items would reduce frustration and make them feel more rewarding. Please? <3
TL;DR pointless collection items with no sell value are silly, pointless, and frustrating to get rid of. Don’t do this crap again please <3

Hi all,
I signed off on the first episode of Living World Season 3, and we’re getting ready to announce the episode and its release date. I’m super proud of the team for hitting this milestone. Over the past few weeks the team has been processing up to a hundred pieces of feedback each day, working to get all the details right.
Reaching sign-off on an episode doesn’t mean we’re done. Now we integrate the episode content with the other updates that ship in this release, and with localized text and voice-over, and we do final testing of all that. To give a sense of the scope of this process, this update has about 1,500 distinct lines of new voice dialog, each of which must be recorded, integrated, and tested in each supported language. For the player character’s voice, we separately record each race/sex combination in each language, so that means 40 actors for each line.
With this release, we’re bundling a Living World episode with additional content for other areas of the game. You’ve seen that we’ve been following a pattern of releasing a bundled update each quarter; this is a content-focused continuation of that kind of thing. Of course, we’ll give this release a name, not “July Quarterly Update”. And we may be able to increase the pace, ramping from four bundled releases per year towards six, so we’ll move away from calling these “quarterly”.
Some of you may look back nostalgically at 2013 when we shipped updates every two weeks. That year we shipped a wide variety of things: nine or ten releases that we’d today call a Living World episode, plus updates to systems and content for other parts of the game, plus festivals. So it was the extreme unbundled version of this. It was nice that there was always something new, but I’m personally not wistful of that cadence, because we sacrificed so much to be able to ship that frequently. With Season 3 our goal is to deliver content sustainably, at quality, establishing a pattern we don’t have to take breaks from.
It feels great to be shipping Living World again. Thanks for your patience through the recent content draught. Having been through it, I’m sure you understand why I’m focused on sustainability.
Stay tuned for a more formal announcement, and for more details from ArenaNet and our partners.

I lead a simple life when it comes to inventory management. If it is not exotic and can be salvaged, it is and the mats sent to the collection tab in the bank. Rare upgrades are sold off on the TP with any mat overflow. Junk and masterwork upgrades are sold to merchant NPCs. It’s not rocket surgery.
RIP City of Heroes
Hi all-
We’re running some tests on the Black Lion Trading Post to try to reduce the number of error messages that a player may receive when they attempt to sell a large number of items in a short period of time. As we make adjustments to find a good balance you may see fluctuations in the frequency of error messages, but the message frequency will decrease rather than increase.
Also DBL was designed for NA meta running multiple guild groups around map during primetime etc, EU meta has been for past year just running 1 blob in at least 5 highest tiers to match each others numbers.
As Anet devs mostly play on NA servers (and NA has higher pop overall than EU considering it covers 3 continents), if this vote ends up towards 3 months of craplike Desert bl, id like to have separate vote for EU server system, or at least you can dig up some statistics about how many EU players voted for 2 alp + 1 dbl and post them here. Because NA shouldnt be able to decide for EU WvW where playstyle differs .
The pact needs to be deunionized. The orders function better by themselves, we don’t need all our marbles in one basket, and it’s harder for the enemy to be aware of and attempting to thwart 3 organization’a separate attacks than it is one.
That the Pact has to go is a crucial element of the proposal Shriketalon put forth to ANet last year.
I strongly urge everyone to read Shriketalon’s post on merging the personal and living story for excellent concepts of a possible future for GW2.
I also urge anyone reading his thread to read everything else he has written on the forums – tons of fantastic infographics and concepts. I’m actually seeing a lot of his concepts seeming to make their way into ANet’s narrative and groundwork for future stories and that gives me hope.

Please re-include the Orders in the story!
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Kain Francois.4328
Just revisited the Chantry of Secrets, and holy kitten, that was a trip down memory lane.
The orders in the Personal Story were really tight-knit, and awesome. I really loved the permanence and identity to choosing our order, as well. I’m sure others felt the same way.
I am an Order of Whispers member, and I want to identify as such. When I am briefed on missions, I want to go to the Chantry of Secrets, and get my own Order’s unique take on events.
Please consider re-including the Orders in the Heart of Thorns storyline. Not the Pact, but the Orders themselves.
Its a beta. You are suppose to be testing it out. Not worrying about your inventory space, bank or loot that gets dropped. Everything you asked for would probably take months to implement into the beta that will be useless and wasted time when the beta is over and done with.
They did it the simplest way in my eyes. Gave you gear that you can pick your stats on. The left over gear you can just delete. Same with the runes.. I deleted and recreated toons several times. I never even went to my bank once on my beta toons or touched the mystic forge.. I was too busy trying the new stuff out to worry about anything you posted about.
UNIQUE REWARDING OF BEST PERFORMING PLAYERS!
Currently there is nothing to drive me into sPvP, not even future changes of ladder, why? Because there is simply NOTHING to push my limits for, i rather join king of the hill map for 1v1 or roam WvW solo or find a 2v2 3v3 premade fight, to satisfy my duel spirit.
There is nothing more rewarding to me then, joining WvW and find a person for 1v1 duel and not stomping her/him. It’s amazing to see how during duels people stop by and slowly add up to spectate those duels and participate in them by waiting their turn and respect each other. Currently my trophy’s are 1v1 recordings, but for PvP, trophy would mean an unique weapon/armor skin!
BUT WHAT WOULD DRIVE ME CRAZY TO DIG PVP
Simple answer: unique monthly title of best players of X class.
- Create 9 statues, for each class in PvP lobby
- Each statue represents a player of the month for specific class
- Each statue will show data how did player perform
- Each player gets temporary unique legendary for the next month if she/he got entitled (Just like yellow shirt in cycling)
- Temporary items are removed on the next month if player did not repeat best performance again
- On the end of the year, players that got legendary title of the month at least once, will get unique season legendary item as a reward ( this way we would give out maximum 12*9 = 108 legendary limited weapons each year to those that proven their worthy for their dedication!)
- Every person that got on the top 100 list of specific class, gets a monthly reward as well (something worth fighting for, no soulbound/account bound items)
- All rewards except legendary weapons are trade-able
This are the things i would dig pvp for, unique reward that people deserve not by spamming the games, but playing with honor and playing for the title that not many people own, why? Because you have to earn it!
All formats would sum up on the end of the month
- Stronghold 5v5
- Conquest 5v5
- Death match 1v1 (we need this)
- Death match 2v2 (we need this)
- Death match 5v5 (we need this)
This would apply also for GvGs and keep them 15v15 and best team on ladder gets monthly rewards that we mentioned up there!
People always claim they don’t need anything but brawling to keep them in PvP, but pushing on the way to the top is so much sweeter if you know, that there is trophy to lift on the END!
EDIT: format
(edited by Firelysm.4967)
Anyone else think that these items should have the limit removed? I don’t about you all, but I’m still getting wayyy too much bloodstone/dragonite/etc to keep up with. It’d be nice if the limit was just lifted so we could just clear out the inventory for good.
Nerf mesmer, nerf elementalist, nerf burn, nerf rampage, nerf engineers, Nerf everything.
Guys can we just all calm down. and rather discuss how to counter those supposedly OP builds? Can we make a thread in which we dedicate it to discussions of builds and showcase how to counter the current meta? Instead of just crying nerf, Because for the Love of it. I really cannot fathom what the problem is. Mesmers became just a tad bit stronger post patch, elementalist are noticably stronger in terms of damage sustain but still beatable. And the thing is. I’m just rank 60 plus, my winrate is still roughly 50/50. I’m not an high tier player. I do not frequently do pvp. My friends who run warrior, necromancer, ranger do not get thier kitten stomped in. And when they do use the OP classes such as mesmer and elementalist, they still regularly lose to warriors, guardians, rangers. So are we just that good? Or do we all happen to constantly fight against noobs? Or are we just average players who fight players at a variety of levels? We also aren’t a premade team.
The last option seems to be the most plausible. I just don’t get it. When people say how they got 50 kittening k of burn ticks, or got a 20 k burst of mesmer, and got constantly stunned. Or cannot catch the mesmer or lock them down at all,Or somehow can’t kill an elementalist with even 2 or 3 people on point. My question is: What the kitten are you guys doing? Do you not run any condi cleanses, do you not run any resistance or berserker stance? Do you not have any runes that diminish cond duration? Do you not convert condi’s into boons? Do you not have any cc or lockdowns? no immobilize? no chill, weakness or cripple? Do you guys just stand there and take it? Do guys not retreat or go out of line of sight? No you guys cannot all be this bad. I take it the majority of players are just players just like me that play pvp from time to time, maby with friends sometimes.
Yet I and the people I acosiate with, not just friends but also enemiy player, or people i see on hotjoin. aren’t suffering from those 50 k burnthings, perma stealth or a 20 k mesmer burst. or perma blind.
So what do i think that the problem is? The problem mainly lies within the builds. I’m not calling the meta perfect because i’ve seen people who come with constructive critism. for example people suggesting for diamond skin to be resistance based, or perhaps removing stability from rampage. Capping stealth to 5 seconds. I may not agree with all of them. These kind of critisms are way different then idiots actually wishing for a mesmer to not use stealth or to nerf a kitten class in full. I do not want for A-net to be given misinformation and go in with over the top nerfs or balance changes when it’s not needed. Changes like that are quite expensive as they affect the whole game, not just pvp.
So this is what I propose. We showcase our builds. No matter what side you are on. dicuss it weaknesses, it’s pro’s and cons how it stacks up to other classes. I mainly want to classes that are generally considered to suffer from the current ’’meta’’ classes or builds that have trouble with mesmer and elemtalists you are free to join. I welcome every class. Rampage warriors come on out.
Also inb4 i get called out on bieng a mesmer that get’s carried by his build. Well no. Í main guardian as a first, engineer as a sec and mesmer as 3rd option. I have nothing to hide.
Well I will start. And showcase my celestial hybrid guardian.
I’m reaching out to you guys. I’m even willing to test my build against yours, tell u my weaknesses and everything. Spread the word guys. Instead of me bieng a ’’L2P’’ scrub, I will now open myself to scrutiny. and hopefully we can change the community for the better.^^
@nassau “Help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” I also don’t know why that one suspicious clone does other stuff than auto attack. iZerker is the phantasm that does the spinning attack at you in melee range- don’t dodge in the direction that it’s moving or it will usually catch you at the end. Have you tried making a Mesmer just to look at the strong weapon skills? Mesmers are strong but it’s not because of hiding beside clones or just the phantasm.
I have 500 spvp matches on mesmer, thank you. Also, I disagree. Mesmers are extremely weak damage-wise. They cannot kill a LIGHT armor elementalist 1v1 and have to rely on a gank to kill it. But that is not really an issue of mesmers, is it? Good morning to the wonderful A N E T.
If you want to be able to outplay a mesmer then you need to play one and learn how to survive as a mesmer in order to learn how to outplay them- then you can see the attacks and rotations coming your surivival will go up higher than you think
Dumbing a class down just so YOU can feel validated is really stupid. L2P.
Here are some pointers from a Champion Illusionist.
-AoE, CC, and condition heavy builds will take down a mesmer. Trust me.
-When a mesmer stealths she will normally hit you with her hardest bursts so be prepared.
-Play a mesmer and learn their weaknesses and strengths.
-There is no shame in avoiding a mesmer fight even though every single mesmer with the new patch is a shatter and VERY predictable.
(edited by SnowHawk.3615)
Poor thieves? What can we do? Tell them the same they told mesmers before the patches. “It’s how it is, deal with it, l2p”
hate to admit but agree 100%.
Pre-patch thieves justify their ability over mesmers and constantly throw the “l2p” words around, glad they have a taste of their own medicine.

Mind Smack – Mesmer
This is the most ridiculous post about “fixing” mesmers I’ve ever seen.
I find it comical that non-mesmers try to fix other classes.
I’ve been playing for about a month now, got a character to level 80, started running dungeons and fractals, and basically I’m at the point where I feel like the character system in this game is just fundamentally broken.
Basically what I’ve noticed is that this game is completely infested with what I call the Berzerker Cult. It’s people who insist that absolutely no gear except berzerker gear has any value whatsoever, and people who have any kind of survivability stat or use healing are just terrible players who need those things because they aren’t good enough to avoid getting hit in the first place. Necromancers and Rangers are basically treated like lepers when it comes to dungeon runs because they have pets that can mess up stacks and simply don’t do enough damage. Most gear sets are completely worthless and nobody uses them at all. Apothecary or Nomad gear is considered downright laughable by most people. You can’t even buy half the prefixes from the dungeons, but nobody cares, because nobody uses them.
I don’t know if the devs saw the irony in calling their endgame content FOTM when indeed, unless your spec and gear is the Flavor Of the Month you don’t really go far in Fractals Of The Mist.
There are several things that are just fundamentally broken with the way this game works.
Giving people the option to stack healing power to the point where they are basically kitten for every other purpose is an absolute design fail in a game where healers are never needed. Why create the option? Purely to bait people and then smacking them down?
The game really fails to create a good dynamic between damage dealers and support characters. I understand that they didn’t want to have the trinity, and I fully support that, but a game doesn’t need to enforce the trinity to make playing a healer viable. All the game has to do to make playing a healer useful is to make sure that a damage dealer who is being healed can deal more damage!
There are no mechanics in the game that let you trade hitpoints for bigger damage, so there is no point in having a character that can put those hitpoints back in a party of good players. That is the most fundamental design oversight in this game, and it makes party composition extremely one sided. Maybe you can benefit from the odd banner or reflection wall here or there, and applying buffs is nice, but none of those things benefit from stacking the support stat in the game.
None of the fights are designed in such a way that exposing yourself to damage lets you dish it out better, and none of the abilities are designed in such a way that you can burn health to inflict more damage either. All of the boss moves that can really kill you can be avoided, and inflict so much damage that you can’t heal through them anyways.
The same goes for defensive stats. The only place where they are rally good is in PvP, because when you’re up against other players you can’t just dance around everything they throw at you like it’s a jumping puzzle. Too bad giant dragons and murderous demons don’t ever give anyone cause to think “maybe I can’t avoid getting hit all the time”.
I mean, sure, it does take a certain skill to run through a level 50 fractal in full DPS gear without getting hit. I won’t deny that that is an impressive feat. However, it is incredibly boring that there is basically one accepted way of doing that, and the entire PvE experience in this game boils down to letting yourself be molded into that one singular rigid pattern.
Why can’t the game have systems that make sure that a DPSer with the support of a healer can spike his damage enough to actually appreciate the heals?
Why can’t the game have enemies that can deal with people who sacrificed all survivability for more damage?
The “Play How I Want” concept of the originally developed and advertised game (disregarding the origin of the quote) is steadily fading away with every patch:
It’s extremely important that we stay true to our philosophy that you should be able to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to play the game in order to reach the most powerful rewards. — from Colin Johanson on Guild Wars 2 in the Months Ahead, January 2013
Of course it’s not only about “most powerful rewards” (even if enjoyment is the best reward you can get from a game), but about the overall feeling of freedom the game had – which definitely existed and which is the reason “Play How I Want” quote became so popular and went far beyond the meaning of “get BiS gear anywhere” in the community.
How did it happen?
WORLD BOSSES
Before:
- Open an online timer for your server, group with like-minded players and do events that you want when you want. Feel yourself as a hero who willingly saves Tyria from daily threats! Feel how the world is living and changing because of you, coordinate with people and announce the next boss you gonna beat!
- Beat a world boss with some 3-5 people next to you at low hours, and feel great because it was challenging and fun! Or do not beat it and understand that your efforts were not enough and you should get better.
Now:
- After the Megaservers improvement, put a list of times for world bosses next to your PC and stop doing whatever you were doing offline to join the boss you want to play. Feel like you’re doing a scheduled task at your job in the office.
- Always be accompanied by a megazerg, tag and spam “111” to win. No need to know the encounter, you won’t see anything because of particle effects and lags.
HOME WORLDS
Before:
- Choose a server you like, be it a Spanish server or an unofficial RP server, speak the language of your choice and get to know “your” people.
- See the same people, get acquainted and say “hi” on your favourite journeys.
- Build a WvW community, recruit and ask for help!
Now:
- After the Megaservers improvement, get placed with random people who speak different languages and can’t care less about you and your interests.
- Meet random people you’ve never seen before and never will.
- Forget about talking about WvW in map chat.
UNLOCKING TRAITS
Before:
- Start leveling and get new stuff to make your build better (with 3 tiny payments) straight away. Do what you want and enjoy the aspects of the game you like! It doesn’t matter if it’s your 1st or 64th character, you simply play!
Now:
- After the Trait improvement, grind all over the world (including WvW) with each and every character doing the same stuff over and over again. Or pay tons of money with gold and skillpoints (which you have to collect and which have gold value) to unlock it for each and every character.
UNLOCKING SKILLS
Before:
- Start leveling and unlock new skills gradually and rapidly. Receive skillpoints to unlock skills here and now.
- Do content depending on your skill, and not your level. 10th character? Will feel like a breeze!
- Equip weapons and kill stuff to unlock all 5 weapon skills straight away. Love GS5 skill? Unlock it and use it now!
Now:
- After the NPE improvement, start leveling and grind with “1111211112” to the level where you can unlock the skills. Wait for levels to get some skillpoints.
- Do content depending on your level, and not earlier. 10th character? Your problem.
PERSONAL STORY
Before:
- Play PS when you want and how you want. Experienced? Jump above the level requirement and beat it because you can!
Now:
- After the NPE improvement, play PS in chunks when they know for sure you can beat it and won’t uninstall the game from the frustration of understanding that you’re not skilled enough. Experienced and want challenge? Your problem, grind and wait.
EXPLORATION
Before:
- Walk around the world and feel like a free hero. Do what you want when you want.
Now:
- After the NPE improvement, follow the arrows (and press [F] to win). No need to make decisions.

What is this supposed to be? I thought it was a charr at first, but it has 4 arms. It isn’t a krait because it has legs
https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/guildwars2-29.jpg
In my opinion, I think it’s actually a Krait. Its reptilian looks and lack of horns make me think it’s not a Charr and it doesn’t look decayed enough to even be an undead Charr.
In addition, the Krait’s concept art for GW(linked bellow) has some similar features like it’s neck skin and the tattoos.
As for it’s legs and extra set of arms, Krait in GW1 had the ability “Metamorphosis” to change their bodies. One such form was the Krait Necross, which was coincidentally bipedal and had two extra arms.(linked bellow)

I blame death animations. Instead of skritt dying, when their hp reaches zero, they could instead retreat and dive underground or something. Not everything needs to die when its hp reaches zero.
Mindlessly whacking my way through some Skritt community last night, I was struck by a sudden and overwhelming repugnance at the wanton fury inflicted on a race so lost and frail in the world.
As one little female cried, ‘More come, yes’ , weak with courage and fear, and another died with a plaintive ’No~ ’ , I was overcome with doubts and questions.
Whether it be wailing in death or calling for help, their voices, are infused with a confronting combination of fear, courage and pathos that deserves more admiration and fellowship than contempt and death.
In some ways, it feels like beating up the little guy with glasses in the playground who stood up to the bullies.
It isn’t right.
Here and now, I eschew map completion, wear my ‘Honorary Skritt with pride’ and devote myself to the defense of the little ones.
…Join me!
And while we’re at it, make Skritt playable
I doubt it. Anet doesn’t have a very good track record.
I don’t understand why they would ever think it was a good idea to remove content from the game.
Dear Anet, wanna say thank you very much guys that you have fixed down camera!! It really helps me (and others) in fight. Keep on doing right things!
And thanks for amazing and very atmospheric Halloween event! You mean the same halloween event we had 2013?
Im mean I dont dress up as the same thing every year so I expected the event to change aswell tbh
Real life isn’t a game. We had, in my family, almost the same exact Thanksgiving Day celebration every year. There might be some very minor changes (and there were some significant changes to rewards this year), but over all, it’s the same thing. It’s a tradition.
In Guild Wars 1, many holiday events were the same year after year, with maybe the exception of a certain reward).
The one thing in real life you don’t have to do every single Halloween is program stuff for a day. You buy or make another outfit. For some people that means an hour.
And that has nothing to do with the OP anyway. The OP is happy with the game and expressing thanks.
True, but it would be pretty awesome if that little golem (or Queen Salma, heh heh heh) ran around to the various corpses and did a little “pick up” animation.
I wish they could pick up items for you or do anything slightly useful.
I like the miniatures and thanks to the September update I love how minis feel like a part of you now, your loyal companions (they don’t disappear if you get defeated or change to a WP or other location). And this is like a super nitpick but I feel like my mini is trying too hard to follow me XD. Make minis as fast as us, or as fast as a ranger pet. I know minis teleport automatically to your side if they are far behind but it would be a nice touch if they could catch up. Thank you for reading this
How about adding an option for players to filter and block out messages containing keywords? This could be a section in the options UI somewhere where you can add keywords or phrases to match and block automatically.
Why? Because nobody likes spam. Sure, you can block the players. But that doesn’t stop spam bots from messaging you on other accounts. For example, I just got spammed by like 7 different gold selling accounts within a couple of minutes. If there were a keyword/phrase filter, I could probably block any future messages they might send for a while.
