I’ve been reading about this issue for a while on Reddit mostly, with an occasional post here that ends up getting little attention. I just wanted to know if the Dev’s are aware of it and looking for a fix?

I’ve personally not been in dungeons or fractals in a long while (partly due to this issue to be honest), but I’ve been in plenty of squads, in particular Doric leather farming and SW RIBA maps where a group of people join and are really confused about what just happened. They were kicked from their instance because someone who joined their group from LFG merged it with an open squad, kicking them out of their dungeon/fractal instance and losing their progress. Some of these people have had the same person do this to them repeatedly in an evening when they try to reform as well.

Here are a few of the Reddit threads:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/6tkjxu/a_player_was_joiningtrolling_fractal_groups_only/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/6x213k/partybombing_people_that_join_parties_should_not/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/6xsx6t/could_we_disable_squad_merge_to_prevent_blatant/

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/6xxc3m/major_concerns_regarding_party_management_and_lfg/

I’m not saying to fix it in any manner that these threads suggest. I’m just hoping this issue is getting some attention. There are many things that could help, it’s just sad some of the squads I’ve been in lately have seen this issue night after night. I feel really bad for the folks that are losing their instances.

Hello there, I’ve been looking for a guild for a while and wouldn’t mind giving yours a go. Been back from a good break for over a month now and would love to dip into all the PvE goodies I’m missing out on (raids, fractals, dungeons…) with a group that doesn’t mind someone newish to the content. Plus I miss the social aspects quite a bit. You guys sound like you know how to have fun. Let me know if you’re interested in having me and possibly the fiance. Thanks!

Hello all! I am looking for an active guild of medium or bigger size for everything PvE related and possibly PvP and WvW. I am back from a break due to RL issues and would love to find a group to chat with as I get reacquainted with the game, inch back into Fractals and Dungeons as well as give my first raid a shot (at some point in the future!). I used to love WvW but for the right group it’s not a deal breaker, I can do that on my own or with friends.

I enjoy playing a Dragonhunter Guardian but i am currently gearing a Ranger to try Druid as I love playing support/healing roles. I play off and on all day, and pretty solidly from 8pm EST to the wee hours of the morning. Currently have no RL commitments and am up for whatever the game brings my way. I am however missing the social aspects of the game and would love to find a community to socislize and play with again. A bit shy and quiet at first but when I get to know folks that changes. I love helping others and participating in everything I can.

Anyone who thinks I might fit their group please contact me. I’d greatly appreciate it!

I just wanted to pop in and say I’ve been in VB solidly for the past 3 days. Today included, they’ve all been filled pretty well. I think once Saturday night and Sunday evening I went to a friends map because it was a bit slow. But there are still quite a few people out here doing the events.

You’re most likely having a bit of bad luck getting low population maps. I’m on my second clear with an alt, lots of folks are doing the same.

Maguuma doesn’t have as much lore in it as I’d like honestly, but it’s there. Explore, look around, check all the nooks and crannies. You’ll find bits and pieces. You do need mushroom bouncing, updrafts, and to be able to do some of the jumping puzzles.

The lore in the story is very specific, it’ll drop a couple of things on you from GW1, but not many and one was very, very obscure. But if you played the original you should catch it. I don’t want to spoil it, so I won’t give details. There was also a certain race you farmed to death in Maguuma in GW1 that you see dotted here and there in one of the zones, mostly hidden and ‘scouts’ and weren’t mentioned in the story as of yet. This leads me to wonder if we might see them soon! I’m excited for this.

I’m going to cross my fingers that when the next bit of content comes out, now that we’ve sorted out the sylvari bits we’ve been working up towards as well as the Glint stuffs, we’ll dig deeper into GW1 connections. I have hope. Maybe, I’ve given you some too.

Quote: “hardcores don’t whine, they get it done and over with. they wouldn’t even whine about how freaking hard it is and will find ways to overcome it. hardcore play the game as it is. the only things the hardcore ever complain are no new contents and bugs. so, it is pretty obvious that the many who are whining and whining and continue to whine are not hardcores.”

That applies for the hardcores, who are actually friendly and care to at least understand where the other party is coming from. Most forum hardcore gamers tend to be rude or flock a whole group of players together to maintain their narrow-minded image of “casuals” “free loot grabbers” “mout breathers” and what not to call them. The hardcore complainers in this board were very, very vocal about not nerfing HPs and whatnot. Unfortunately, many of them posted these concerns as flamebaity and provoking/derogating as possible.

I play with mostly casual folks. I’m probably considered hardcore because of how much I play and how hard I go at games. That being said I’m glad you recognize that not all of us are bad people, flame, or bait people and actually respect others’ opinions. So thank you for that.

I do disagree with the HP changes personally, but in the end I’m fine with it. It gives me more time to go do other things I want (ACHIEVEMENTS WOO) to spend time doing. I’ve been quite civil, called people out who choose to insult no matter what side of the fence they’re on and in return called a whiner and a hypocrite (that was an interesting one).

But in the end I didn’t buy the expansion for the specializations, which is something I see people saying over and over again. I bought it for everything it has to offer and I’m going to play all of it. I love the story in the game and I’m not alone there.

I hope folks settle down soon about these changes, give the feedback Arenanet is looking for and go back to having fun with this game. After all, that’s why we’re here.

The contents have only been nerfed on hero points. I promise, you still have years of grind in different aspects of the game. Please recognize that not everyone wants to go through all the new maps with old specs. There are also tons of champs still around plus raids inc, and fractals to 100.

For a group that said anyone who wanted hero points reduced for elites were whining, crying, babies, and just plain bad…you sure have a lot of cry in you as well.

Tyria has not ended.

Exactly… nerfing stuff will make it trivial and it will turn into a grindfest… like people doing CoF p1 10000 times (i know the guy who claimed he did that, although i am not sure it is possible… ).

Also… being involved with YouTube and social media for so long i kind of know the numbers… and the numbers don’t look good at all…

I honestly don’t know where they are getting the money to continue, Heart of Thorns has to be big…

Metacritic score is already 7.7…

While I agree with some things you’re posting, you are quite incorrect about numbers waning here. They are fine, in fact they’ve doing quite well for themselves right now.

Metacritic is something a small group of people use. It’s not something I ever look at or really anyone I know and I’m an avid gamer because of how easily it’s manipulated. If you’ve been reading any amount of feedback on there or following posts on the forums here or on reddit you’d see that a lot of people went there to give this game a 0 or 1 to essentially force Arenanet to give them what they wanted (HP change, soloable content in HoT). While I doubt this had the impact they wanted and think it’s a coincidence the HP requirement was changed, the scar on Metacritic will forever remain. That’s the problem with websites like that and why a lot of people don’t read them. They’re easily manipulated when people feel slighted by the smallest aspect of a game and won’t take the whole experience from the game into their rating. The rating was I think below 5 at one point? It’s back up to 7.7 from 7.3 yesterday as people go and change their ratings. But not everyone will. It’s a poor example of how this game is doing.

I am also disappointed that the “I want it now and I’m going to cry until I get it”-fraction wins again…
And now they will feel justified and will keep whining until they get legendaries as login rewards.

Beautiful example of a ridiculous Strawman argument.

After the 250 HP update, people won’t get their Elite Specs right away. 250 HPs still require time and effort for most people to get.

In fact what we’re seeing is that only “hardcore” players who likely don’t have jobs, or are students, or are generally people with a lot of time spare to play this game were the only ones who were able to unlock their Elite Specs straight away.

People such as yourself who make childish non-arguments towards “whiners” (and by “whiners” you mean the majority of people criticising a legitimately bad game feature) most likely fall into the above category, and as such ignorantly fail to recognise the fact that many players cannot afford more than 1-2 hours per night to play this game due to real life responsibilities that consume a lot of time.

Many of the, as you say, “whiners” on here have in fact been saying the same thing: keep the “earning” aspect there, but reduce the unnecessary grind. Not a single person on here has asked for their Elite Spec to be handed to them straight away. Grow up.

Anyone who calls someone a child on a forum or tells people to grow up should plainly be ignored. Resorting to insults is not constructive or adding anything to a conversation and shows your opinion toward those who disagree with you.

The only thing I will add to this is that just because -you- feel it’s a bad game feature, doesn’t mean it is. That’s an opinion.

So what is someone who makes strawman arguments and labels everyone who disagrees as whiners?

Should that person be listened to?

^Sanest person on this thread.
Suddenly many “hardcore” players come out of the woodwork to accuse everyone who did not agree with them of whining and crying. Only to start whining and crying about it themselves. Hippocrites of the year.

You both misunderstood my comment to that individual, who I believe has since deleted their post. If you think something is a bad game design, because it’s something you don’t like (whether it’s 400 points or 250 points, it doesn’t matter which), it’s an opinion and just that. Neither option is bad game design. Disagree away, it’s still just your opinion.

And if you took that as a ‘whining and crying’ post, I’m curious as to what you believe isn’t.

If they broke this easily, this early who knows what else they will give in on? I’m disappointed, but I have faith they’ll come around.

This is a good change for some people, and I’m glad that some folks are happy. But if the loudest get their way every time (a lot of posts in a thread is not a majority), who knows what will be next.

Come on Anet. It’s too early for this. Go back to being awesome, don’t be like Blizzard.

At least Blizzard knows where the majority of their money comes from (casuals) and usually changes things as they see fit. WoD was a terrible hardcore expac that lost 5+ million customers and they way they’re scrambling to implement successful older systems back into play says a lot. Legion looks like it’ll be one of th ebest casual expansions released yet.

Even saying that and with nerfs, Blizzard still makes the hardest PVE content of any MMO I’ve played. Sames goes for Diablo, try doing a 50+ greater rift as a monk or crusader solo.

I still hope Anet gets the common sense to make multiple difficulty raids as I still feel catering to one type of player is a foolish business decision and will be another hard lesson learned when they eventually have to change it.

I played the hell out of D3, I’ve done 60+ rifts solo, and my group was doing in the 70’s before HoT, it’s not ‘hard’ content necessarily, but that’s a whole other beast right there…

FFXIV has harder PvE content than WoW does. I played the hell out of WoW since it came out, went back for WoD and got pulled through some of the ‘harder’ content and promptly left again. I love WoW, lots of good memories but the game is gone PvE wise for me. I’ll go back for pet battles and to continue experiencing their story which I love though! I wish more games had pet battles…

If they introduced multiple difficulty levels on content I’d be so very happy. But I’m also in the crowd that wants more dungeons and at this point I’m not sure that’ll ever happen

250 HP For Elites [Feedback][Merged]

I’m rather sad that they’ve reduced it already. It’s only a few days into the expansion. A thread with a lot of responses in it does not mean it’s a majority by any stretch. Those that weren’t busy complaining on the forums were actually playing the game and have our elite specialization maxed out already (I was well over halfway before HoT).

I am an altaholic however, so this change is nice for my other classes, but I accepted the grind well beforehand and I was fine with it.

I’m disappointed Arenanet. I’m glad that you’re responding to feedback, but giving in so soon into your expansion was probably not the best idea. We’ll see how it turns out. And obviously I have faith in you. I’m still here.

You’re starting to act like Blizzard…please don’t become them. I miss the old ‘get good’ attitude you guys had at one point. Turn back, act like the gaming company I and the majority of your community have come to respect and love.

I look at elite specs as a long term progression path instead of what the majority here seems to see them as. I have no problem with their current iteration. Then again, i’m old school and could work on certain missions for years without calling them a “grind”.

Perhaps Anet should have done a better job explaining that instead of making them seem like something that “came” with the expansion and could immediately be played. I could see that argument for sure.

I completely agree with you, so do a lot of others. Just need them posting. But this thread…has become a bit toxic and angry so folks stay away from it. Thanks for voicing your opinion.

I’m loving HoT, and thank you guys for this change.

I know folks are really upset about having to work for the specialization, but honestly I think people are forgetting what this is. It’s an expansion. Normally you level, getting abilities as you do so, getting your best one at max level. I see this as the same thing, only GW style because they won’t ever raise the level cap and some people don’t realize this. When this game launched your abilities weren’t handed to you, you earned them. I’m glad to see that the expansion is what it should be, a renewed feeling of a launch with it’s own twist.

Thanks Arenanet. Most of your community is incredibly happy, keep fixing your bugs, making QoL changes and we’ll keep trekking.

Group looking for a guild (NA)

Anowyyn.2304

Hello everyone, I’ll be scouring the forums for the next day or so to see if I find any guilds that might be what we’re looking for, but I thought I’d also put out a thread in case anyone thinks we might fit in…

There is a small group of us on Tarnished Coast (3-7 people) that are coming back for the XXth time, super excited for the expansion. We played for about a year after release before taking a break and playing FFXIV when it launched. We came back here and there to check out changes but haven’t stayed (except for one of us) for any length of time. We’d like to give this expansion a good go like we did at launch as we are loving the game again.

Our group… is different. There are 7 of us total, some play a lot (2 of us), some play after work (3 of us), and the others play when they can, sometimes disappearing for a month or so. We’re grumpy (they are, I’m not, which is why I’m posting :P), blunt, and like to have fun. We speak our minds, curse a lot, joke a lot, and sometimes get drunk. When we want to, we’re serious players that will know the game inside and out, play kitten well and be incredibly productive.

I just want a home for us. We have a small guild we started when the game launched but I’d like somewhere I can be social. I mean we can be social. >.> I would love to experience everything in this game from the lore to WvW / PvP to dungeons and raiding.

Wow that got long. Sorry.

TLDR: 7ish of us are looking for a guild to head straight into HoT and relearn the bits of the game we’ve missed over the past year. We have a bit of everything and to the right guild we’ll give our all from the basics to WvW/PvP to dungeons and raiding.

Thanks for reading, feel free to message me or post if you think we might fit in.

Edit – Some of us are on Tarnished Coast, those that still can’t get here are on Borlis. Sorry forgot to include that.
