Nevermore has footprints. They are extremely faint and don’t last longer than 1 second or so. A couple faint glowing feathers are kicked up when you take a step, but that’s it, no lingering puddles or sear marks on the ground. You can see it in the twitch video where they show Nevermore in action.
I’d love to see footprints on my aquatic legendaries!
I hope you realize the flaw in your logic. You don’t make footsteps underwater, and your aquatic legendary is unusable on land where you do make footprints. That’s why most aquatic legendaries have body effects instead.

Meh you’ll miss the bugs and patches
i will be dead after a friday full of final exams but this is a realization that i wholeheartedly welcome. i wouldn’t be a very happy camper with the ever-imminent client crashes and server traffic overload at launch time
Most thieves are kitteny and think they’re gods gift. They also assume a Ranger is a free kill, arguably because of the high percentage of bad Rangers, but in reality a Ranger should beat a Thief and I always laugh when they decide to engage with you.
amen sista
they always open up with a basilisk venomed shadow shot and think they can spike me down but a generously-timed lightning reflexes or entangle will net you tons of space from them. and sometimes i catch them running towards me and they are almost always denied by shooting a point blank shot and following up with rapid fire, PBS almost always hits because they never have any stability in their bars. at this point they’re either shadowstepping away or stealthed.
and yeah i agree, so many thieves think they can solo me but i’m traited to be as hard to reach as possible haha
as a fellow owner of kudzu, i +1 the notion for modified barrage and for body effects.
one solution for the current tacky bowstring could be a glowing/modified bowstring?
Kudzu have 2 effect walk trail /projectile.
Dreamer have projectile /sound effect.
Incinerator have walk trail /sound/ effect swap/ projectile.
then what do you call the birds chirping? is that not a sound effect?
The comments on this thread are borderline unnecessary. What if OP wants a good balance between tankiness and damage?
All you guys have done is criticize and make OP feel like kitten for sharing his build with everyone.
It’s a shame that this forum deems any damage below a certain point as “0 damage”..
I am 850% sure you could have spaces in your pet’s name because I’ve had spaces in my pets names since head start weekend
blah blah i enjoy contributing negative feedback and mounds upon mounds of complaining in a thread that is aimed at positive feedback for a certain topic
Ahhh i see that is indeed constructive and have such a positive vibe. You have contributed well in this topic
edited rentapest’s post for more clarity and accuracy.
For me, I love Read the Wind. I no longer have to deal with the dreaded “Obstructed” stuff if I shoot at a moving target, all my arrows hit (except for reflects and blocks of course) and I feel my DPS is a lot better now that all my arrows connect.
An even better feeling is when a wvw opponent starts strafing back and forth as you shoot them, hoping that all your arrows will miss and kinda insulting you for having slow arrows, but instead ALL your arrows hit (because of RtW) and they end up downing or running away.
I forgoed Spotter for Read the Wind, and the extra few arrow hits is more than enough to compensate for the precision buff of Spotter.
Currently in the process of making ascended armor for my main, he’s gotten pretty far since the 3 day head start.
I am ecstatic for the laser-fast shots from the old Read the Wind preparation skill. Although the arrows won’t instantly hit the target, being combined with Eagle Eye will make WvW a bit easier for us.
+1 to the above. Best hair update ever!! I’ve always wanted the T3 heavy helm look on my thief, and now I can! Really really wanted the gnarled-roots style, I don’t think I could’ve asked for more.
The glowing streaks is also a nice touch too!
minor stretching of armor is a fact of life in GW2, most charr players with light armor can vouch for that, so much stretching of the coats. human T3 medium coats have the daggers stretch/bend when in combat, and that is one armor piece out of a lot that have stretching
and from what i could see, only the tip of that one leaf is stretched, and i’m pretty sure unless you’re always zoomed in during combat, you probably won’t even notice it

Well your options are pretty much either Rodgort, Howler, or Incinerator for your off-hand with Bolt, or you can go with Dreamer or Kudzu if you use bows. I’m personally going for Kudzu since it fits nicely with the nature-themed ranger, and who doesn’t love shooting golden spears?
You also have the option of Twilight or Sunrise if GS is your cup of tea, but since you use Bolt you are probably a S/W or S/D guy.
im looking for a wvw roaming build / pve event , i want good dps but not glass cannon idk… something that can be good feel free to leave build trait/skill/gear/all kind of stuff !
and i want kudzu and sunrise and rodgort and bolt BUT i don’t want to spend money or spend time to get them..
in all seriousness, if you want a build, look at the stickies, we aren’t gonna do the research for you. pick what you like from the stickies, i know the builds are there but it’s a good learning experience to go look for yourself
also you chose the wrong class if you want good damage without sacrificing survival, in fact you’d be hard pressed to find a good damaging profession without getting glassy.
Why the damage from caltrops from Uncatchable not remove stealth?
you’re not actively attacking, it’s a “placed” AoE. aka, it’s not direct damage, and stealth is removed when you deal direct damage

i personally think the barky male leggings is befitting, it looks like your armor is completely bark with long leaves growing from it.
i dont know if matching all the minor armor details (like the pouch or the tendrils growing on the female’s right arm) would be the best idea, a lot of cultural armors are distinct per gender. imagine having a male norn in T3 heavy in the female style; with a thong and drapery around the butt region, yeah some elements are best left with one gender and not the other
(i secretly wish the sylvari male T3 medium had the tendrils on the right arm as well)
Thank you A-Net for fixing the awful warping and bending of the T3 heavy gloves! I don’t know if it was fixed when the glow update happened, but I’m definitely a happy camper (my Sylvari warrior is happy as well)
I don’t know if other people already posted about this but either way I just want to shed light on this and hopefully more people will be willing to get T3 heavy now.
Left picture is post-update, right picture is pre-update.
I have fallen in love with the T3 armor for my guardian, even roleplaying out why she’s gotten so bark-covered. But the dyes act very strange. The torso cannot be made a bright color, at all, and thus can’t match the leggings, but its chest leaf comes out blinding in comparison. The shoulder also has a very dull base.
This is how I have her at the moment, mostly in Celestial and Illumination, with Tarnished Silver on the chest leaf and Lemon Zest on the forehead gold section. Note how gray the torso is? The skirt also greys out, but not as much.
I thought it might be due to her dark brown skin. However, swapping skin colors only affects the accents, not the grey of the torso, even when I go with Ashen or Gold skin.
if that green skin picture is from a preview in the total makeover kit, the armor parts (that sample from your skin color) won’t update until after you accept the total makeover change. i know from experience when i was changing my skin color when i had my T3 medium on
that might be why in the green skin picture, the boob part of your chestpiece and the tip of your skirt is still gray/dark
Every time that halluc effect goes off, I have to look away from the screen and hope Im still alive when its over. The effect literally makes me feel queasy, and I can’t be the only one.
Can we have a way to disable/mitigate its effects, please?
in GW1 your screen would warp and go crazy psychedelic if your character was drunk, and if you turned off your Shaders (or something along those lines) then it would stop
the same should apply here, turn off each of your graphics settings until you find out which one is responsible for the hallucination’s warping of the graphics. it should be post-processing effects or shaders.
Well A-Net didn’t design the armor with the idea that you’re gonna be playing the game pantless.
They probably figured that most leggings will cover those spots so may not have bothered to design those (very) small spots.
Personally do not like the change. Here are the before (top) and after (bottom) pictures. The dyes are the exact same in both pictures. Nothing was touched. This is tier 3 medium armor.
Well you gotta choose contrasting colors if you wanna see them. I went with a dark color for my leggings and a bright color for the “cracks” of the bark.
I really liked playing around with a new dye slot, before I only had 1 color choice for the leggings, but now there’s a new one just for the glow.
Picture on the left is the new one, you can obviously tell which parts are the newly added glow spots. Picture on the right is pre-update, with only 1 color option for leggings.
PS: I think the glow update messed with how dyes show up now, I’m using the same dyes but there is a marked difference in the hue. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I couldn’t replicate my previous dye combo today.

I’m perfectly happy with the update, but I’m speaking as someone who has T3 medium. All they did was add some glow to the cracks in the bark-style leggings, which I don’t mind at all.
I feel bad for the T3 light people, but haven’t heard of any complaints for the T3 medium change.
It’s because you’re dealing with things that normally grow off of sylvari. Thats why the roots/attachment sites of your cultural armors are the color of your skin, to give the illusion that you grew your armor.
Same case here, anet is trying to give the illusion that the leaves are growing out of your skin, hence why they are partly colored as your skin color.
i think anet has more important matters to deal with than a 1 year difference in lore.. and besides, anet can’t constantly be updating the time spans of the game with each passing year.
and time within the game is not equivalent to time in real life. it’s not 2013 in tyria, essentially. can’t guarantee 1 calendar year to be 1 tyria year
hate to break it to you but picking professions is not as hard and permanent as picking a career or a university. if you are bored of rangers or if you do not like their mechanics after a period of time, then play a different profession. there is literally nothing to lose except for time and a character slot. (and sold gold for armor and all that stuff)
i mean it’s kinda common sense that armor will cover your skin unless you prefer running around 100% naked without armor (or wearing skimpy light armor)
you most certainly can change the color of the armor glow, it is Dye Preview slot #3 (or #2)
also, why would it matter if you’re getting full T3 medium? it covers 99% of your body anyway, so you wouldn’t see the red glow underneath except for a little bit of your face
yeah i’ve seen it outside of preview and it’s that high up for most races as far as i know, definitely for humans
dye ensemble is inspired by the jade greatsword. i was surprised at how well the gold parts came out as well as the green parts

yeah, any armor with armorpieces that flow outward will likely clip with weapons. if you have the T3 medium shoulderpiece, that will clip too. it’s just a fact of life. you’ll grow to ignore it eventually. i have full T3 medium (but male) and it clips with a lot of weapons but i don’t let that stop me from wearing my favorite armor in the game
they most likely don’t excrete rectally. probably sheds off of their skin/bark or something.
anet probably didn’t design the sylvari to this degree of detail lol they would need a longer period of time if you want them to design their biology and systems and whatnot
Hope I’m posting in the right place!
What armor is the sylvari necromancer wearing at the profession select screen?
the top is actually the T3 chestpiece
just adjust your graphics settings lower.
the chest’s tail part has a lot of innate green parts (if you go for an orange theme, it’ll still have green streaks) so you’re gonna have to go with more natural colors. the coat’s main color plays nicely with darker colors, and from experience, the main leaf color shouldn’t be anything bright because the leaves’ “roots” are designed to be a bright color. you just need to do a lot of trial and error, but i guess i was a little lucky in choosing my color combos (or it just played nicely with my favorite color which is green)
my ways aren’t gonna be great for everyone, so this may not ever look good to you no matter what combo you do. you really just need to experiment and make note of your observations of what works, what kinda works, and what sucks
easy to say, this is my favorite armor set and i’ve invested a lot of time trying to perfect the color combos.
i attached a pic of my current combo, which i am completely content with
at the end of a dungeon, my male sylvari goes “they’ll remember our names for centuries!”
well if you have your graphics settings up all the way, it’s gonna produce a shine no matter what. my T3 medium armor isn’t shiny unless i jack up my settings all the way
and besides, you’ve never seen a shiny plant before?
finally got a dye ensemble that works out and isn’t the typical black/white choices. kinda went for a tropical succulent plant look
hands down my favorite armor in the game. worth every gold coin
Is the armor glow the same color that you made your skin glow during character creation?
the glow is the color of the dye that you dyed the glowing part
so if you dyed the glowing part green, it’ll glow green despite the fact that your sylvari’s skin glow is, say, blue
what kind of look/style/theme are you going for? black is not a natural color for bark or leaves, so it looks too synthetic when you use abyss.. it would help us figure out something for you if you told us what you’re looking for..
some people like a realistic dye combo (like me, green for leaves, browns for barks)
some people like stylized dye combos (oranges, purples, grays, etc. not natural colors for plants)
I’ve heard the culture armor for Sylvari has a glow effect. Is that just for T3? Or do you have to have a complete matching set? I have a mix of T1 and T2 and I don’t notice the glow effect.
some sylvari T1/T2 armors don’t glow (T3 are all guaranteed to glow) and you don’t need the whole set for it to glow
the glow isn’t as intense as the sylvari skin glow but it’s noticeable if you dyed the glowing parts a bright color
T3 heavy is a bark-based armor, so the base color should be brown. you choose the color of the tips, you can get creative with that part
do i need to remind you that this game is rated T for teen..
if there are people under the age of 13 playing this game (aka “children”), you have other things to worry about (negligent parents, etc)
Here is your resillient build. With dmg, too.
Copy link into another tab if it doesnt direct you straight away.
woah there i think you have me mistaken for someone who has troves of money for runes of divinity lol
What build do you like using?
usually shortbow, melee is usually D/P
so i like to think of myself as a thief who thrives on survivability (i’m a ranger by trade, but i hate rangers in this game, not a pet person at all)
i like to do damage like any other guy, but i will sacrifice damage for toughness (or vitality)
right now i’m in the process of deciding what upgrades to get (runes, accessories, etc) for my endgame gear. i’ve gone with emerald orbs on my armor for a while, and it doesn’t seem to do me wrong. but i can’t help but to think that there is a better rune/orb out there for me.
so for a more resilient thief like me, what do you recommend me for:
1) armor runes/orbs
2) rings/amulets/accessories
3) sigils (besides the usual fire, air, and bloodlust)
4) ascended accessories/rings/amulets (i might just cop out and get all stat ones)
5) any other advice you feel is necessary
What, no marijuana-inspired Sylvari?
I am disappoint.
pot is just one color, it’s kinda a cop-out
