So another stealth nerf that anet claims they don’t do? that’s just lovely.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
The state of the ranger is downed.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
It’s clearly outworld. Tyria is in danger of losing their 10th tournament and the greatest warriors need to band together and defeat Shao Khan.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Outworld is becoming one with the earth realm. It’s time to find Tyria’s greatest warriors and unite them for Mortal Kombat!
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Hell no. They need to stop nerfing things.
But knowing anet, they’ll limit it to like one box a day per account.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Yeah, wasn’t too smart for them to overlap them like this. Not that I expected any better.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
What’s really annoying is getting that timer when you’re a villager during the lunatic inquisition. Anet didn’t really think these things through.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
They also nerfed traps for rangers. Don’t forget that part. No other class has the right to complain as much as the ranger does right now.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
The primary ranged weapons are not a mix of aoe and single target. They are 99% single target with a single long cd, low impact AoE. You can’t honestly call poison spread aoe with its miserable damage, and the same goes for barrage with a long cd and low damage compared to warrior longbow or ele staff.
Nailed it. This needs to be addressed, ranger ranged AOE is pretty terrible and shortbow poison spread requires you to be literally in melee range to even be considered an AOE. Barrage for the longbow is on such a long cooldown, even when you spec for the cooldown reduction (which btw is another issue) Our only other AOE is traps, but if you spec for traps you pretty much ruin your ranged attacks. This is one of my major issues with the rangers outside of how they’ve pretty much ignored pet issues.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Because the names keep reverting to the original and it gets tiresome renaming every time it reverts. This bug has been from the start and they still haven’t fixed it.

Thanks Colin, seems to contradict what you said in the scavenger hunt thread though.
““you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.” – Colin Johanson
Oops, time for a redact. That statement does conflict with the previous statement he made in the scavenger hunt thread. He mentions precursors with a new reward system, they mention a new reward system, put two and two together and one would think “Oh hey, this reward system will contain precusors” but of course we should have all learned by now that what they say and what we get are never the same.

For anyone with mobile auth and have issues.

I’ve just spent like 6 hours doing scans to find nothing on my computer.
Then I just happened to do a google search about the actual authenticator “google authenticator” and not guild wars 2 mobile authenticator. I found this link. – http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/mobile/krLTinE3hXQ
The 2nd post had me check my time on my ipad.
I couldn’t figure out why the password was correct but it kept giving me a wrong password error (I actually reset my password) because of this and it still didn’t work.
Then I checked the clock on my ipad where I have the mobile app installed, the time was off by like 1 minute. That one minute difference caused my authenticator code to fail every time I tried to use it on the website or the game client, however it did not notify me that the authenticator code was wrong, just that the password was wrong, that needs to be fixed so the client and website actually needs to informs you that the authentication code failed, because I’m sure I’m not the only one that just happened to have a slight time difference between their computer and their mobile device. How that even happened is beyond me because I set the computer and ipad to sync the time automatically.
Just thought I’d post this out there for people that are getting password errors with their mobile authenticators and might think they’re hacked. This was a huge relief when I set the clock back on the ipad slightly and then tried the codes again and was able to sign in with nothing missing and my characters sitting where I had them last.
This is also a suggestion to anet that they need to change the client and forum login to reflect an invalid authentication code and not just say that the password is invalid.

The name Ranger isn’t indicative of being ranged.
Anet’s definition of a ranger is indicative of it being ranged, so that’s all that matters.
Rangers are proficient with the bow. They rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature to slay their targets. Their loyal pets, which rangers tame and train, distract enemies while the rangers strike safely from a distance. As an adventurer profession, rangers wear medium armor
Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation
Their own definitions. So let’s stop the parroted “Rangers aren’t ranged” argument when clearly anet defines them as such. Which is where the largest issue comes from when people speak of the ranger.

I’m just wondering if Halloween is somehow connected with the Krits… I mean Mad King is trying to escape the realm, and at the same time Kraits are making a tower that somehow works as a portal for their prophet… Is Mad King the prophet??? Somehow it doesn’t connect, but the timing is just TOO perfect…
That’s giving them way too much credit.

When was the first balance patch?
I’m trying to figure that out too. Can’t have a next if you haven’t had a first…. owait, the first balance patch was during one of the BWE. :p
When they completely gutted the ranger.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
10 people is a very good size for a Tier 1 bounty mission.
Didn’t really think that one through eh? how are 10 people supposed to gain the influence needed for this? hm?
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
They want to incentive for people to spread out in orr? get rid of the ridiculous respawn timers. Get rid of the knockdowns, stuns, and the like that get chain spammed by numerous mobs. Spread the actual mobs out some.

Wilderness 5 Natural Vigor. Reduced the increased endurance regeneration from 50% to 25%.
This really ruins it for me. Again a big nerf out of nowhere.
Let me add it to the list:
- endurance regen nerfed from 50% to 25%
- Healing Spring no longer gives vigor each tick and water field duration reduced
- shortbow nerfed from 1200 to 900 range
- damage skills from many pets reduced by 50%
- pet leash range reduced drastically
- “Search & Rescue” can’t revive dead players anymore
- quickness on pet swap moved from Minor Adept to Major Grandmaster (swapped with worthless trait)
- “Guard” no longer works up or down ledges
- “Signet of the Beastmaster” moved from Adept to Grandmaster.I probably missed some.
Other unsesolved issues:
- Guard is a shout, but has a 1 second cast time
- Nearly all AoE attacks hit 3 targets instead of 5
- Require grandmaster traits to make signets, shouts, traps and spirits useful.
- Require grandmaster trait to have relatively useful condition removal.
- “Sic ’em” gets cancelled if the pet is told to activate another skill or told to change target.
- Signet of Renewal fails if pet is out of range.
- a healing skill (Healing Spring) is the only reliable on-demand condition removal rangers have.
- pets f2 often doesn’t activate or very late.
- sword auto-attack has too many leaps and makes the character feel out of control and prevents dodging.
- shortbow auto-attack bleed requires a flank.
- longbow Barrage too long cooldown.
- longbow requires to spend 50 trait points to get its basic traits (20% cooldown, piercing arrows, 1500 range)
- skirmishing has too many bad traits. If these were fixed/changed we might actually be getting somewhere with this class.
I missed this post… looking at all of these ridiculous nerfs in one spot really illustrates the disconnect between players and developers. It’s kind of sad to see such drastic changes to a class that’s always under performed compared to other classes. I cannot even begin to grasp their thought process with some of these changes.
You pretty much nailed it. But I do not expect them to address any of this.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Flame Trap was mysteriously ninja nerfed in the Nov 15th patch. The tooltip shows a 15 second cooldown, or 12 second cooldown if using the Trap Potency trait, but in reality the cooldown has increased to 24 or 25 seconds. That said, the Trap Potency trait doesn’t seem to be affecting this newly increased cooldown either. Bug or intended feature?
Are you kittening kidding me? it’s bad enough that they lied about the changes but they also nerfed the kitten out of traps? Guess they want to go after the bot farmers again.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
I haven’t seen an extra item in dailys since before lost shore it seems.
Managed a few black lion kits, 19 fine transmutation stones and a couple mystic forge stones leveling my ranger to 80. Leveled my thief to 80 and haven’t seen a single extra item in dailys. Is it just me or did they nerf the hell out of it?
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
GW2 isn’t supposed to be about grinding or farming, so this change is a positive step to help move away from that.
Have you been under a rock this last year? GW2 is most definitely about grinding or farming and RNG.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
This is reminiscent of the shortbow nerf lie. That’s exactly what I was expecting so thank you Anet for once again showing us how you respect us as customers. In the future, I suggest you just ignore this subforum, at least that way we won’t have our hopes raised to only have them dashed on the rocky shoals of the lost shore.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Sometimes I wonder if we’re even playing the same game as the devs.
Didn’t they already nerf aoe healing and buffs? so now they’re going to ruin aoe damage? just brilliant.
So are you going to ruin ranger aoe too?
What’s funny, this is going to ruin mob tagging (something anet claims doesn’t exist in gw2 yet anyone who has played in any of the orr maps knows that is so far from the truth it’s not even funny anymore) prepare to have even worse drops in group events.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Hey everyone. This is a fix that is working as intended. As these armor types were never designed to be worn together, it resulted in some graphic issues when previewing them.
So why did you not include this in the patch notes? figured no one notice?
Given that so many armors clip or conflict with each other, using graphic issues as an excuse just doesn’t cut it.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
It was animation fix guys. Just like the shortbow. And in a few days after they’re pushed into a corner, anet will finally admit that they were tired of people spamming traps. (gotta go after dem crafty bot farmers)
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Even if you’ve been there, try going again. It usually fixes the problem for people to go back after they hit 100%.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
The voice acting is fine, the dialogue is atrocious though. Even a great voice actor can’t spin gold out of digested straw from a horse.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
You can buy it on one character and transfer to the other. However, you’ll need to use a level 80 transmutation stone and transmute the armor to a white or blue armor. It will then make the armor account bound until you use the upgrade slot and then you can transfer it via the bank to any character you want.
Then later you can use another transmutation stone to transmute the armor onto a no name exotic stat armor.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Because I like ranged classes and I didn’t think they were going to screw them up like they did in GW1… I hate being wrong.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
It says required level 80, I’d assume you need 80 to use it.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Those are intended. The change they did was they give you a token which you can trade for a pact weapon skin (rare 80 weapon)
Crappy rewards for a crappy boss.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
It was tolerable.
The RNG aspect of it was horrible, they still haven’t learned from that and I doubt they ever will.
The reward at the end was pretty bad too.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
It was working the other day on dragonbrand right after the non content update, clearly these bugs get fixed when they restart the server, so why they don’t do daily server resets until they actually address the bugs is beyond me.
What anet needs to do is put out a calender on the main page so we know when these server restarts are ahead of time so we can plan accordingly and get these events/skill points done when they’re not bugged.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
What’s funny that it was harder to get to the top than it was to fight the last boss. Kind of mind boggling how much of a chore that trek up to the top was (outside of a zerg it was next to impossible)
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
“used to be”
Not anymore. This has been stated by a dev as intentional and integral.
“We’ve balanced the class around the idea that you always have a pet with you to aid in any fight.” -Jonathan Sharp in Dec. 14th patch notes.
I don’t think it will change. Fun to speculate though.
That quote always amuses me. If it was actually the case, pets would have better AI and not require insane micro-managing and waste of talent points just to keep them alive for a few seconds longer.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Don’t get your hopes up. If their previous track record shows us anything, they’ll fix it after the event is over.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
That was one of my Christmas wishes, that anet would actually start communicating with it’s player base and interact with them on the forums. I should’ve asked for some coal, at least it would’ve kept me warm at night.
It’s nothing out of the ordinary, they have a stellar track record with communication ever since gw1, and gw2 isn’t any different/.

Aim bots? o_O lol
I had to lol at this as well. OP, you do realize that the game has an auto targeting option right?
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
People have been saying p/p needs work from since the beginning, don’t expect them to do anything about it in this century.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
I haven’t seen an extra item from daily’s since… lost shore? probably before that. I’m convinced they nerfed the drops. Haven’t seen a key drop since forever either. Can’t have gem store items showing up outside the gem store, that’s bad for business.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
3 level 80 greens…. is this the “new reward” or have they not fixed it yet? If they haven’t, they better soon. If this is the new reward…. I’m done.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Love it when people claim that rangers are not a ranged class when anet clearly says they are. The fact that people are still repeating that tired nonsense is nothing short of amazing.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
• For PvE leveling rangers complaining that these changes won’t help you, that’s because the ranger is already very balanced for PvE, if not overpowered.
Oh god, my sides! Lord have mercy upon them! I cannot stop laughing!
Yup… there you have it. Us PvE players are ‘overpowered’.
ROTF
I’ll have what he’s having, because to be that out of touch with reality, it has to be something like soy sauce in that one movie John Dies at the End.
It’s funny that he mentions the shortbow, given how long it can take to kill something. I remember the joys of leveling my ranger, watching thieves, warriors, guardians and mesmers completely melt monsters into puddles by the time I had a few shots off. Watching 15 points in beast mastery not amount to anything or watching “Invulnerable” and “obstructed” showing up in red, regardless of where I’m standing.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
Doesn’t scale at all, it’s a set value. Plus switching or entering water or dying resets the counter. Just one of many examples of how lackluster our talents are.
The first 5 points promote pet switching, yet one of the first traits promotes keeping your pet the same, makes no sense. Then again it makes no sense to put trap traits in the skirmishing line either.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
I don’t know about you but I love being lied to.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
There’s really nothing left to discuss. They lied to us, we called them out on it, so they’re remaining quiet until they can run some PR spin or actually deliver on their promises.
They can easily redeem themselves by being upfront about what’s going on, why they are being dishonest and why they aren’t doing anything about the problems. Instead, we get some snarky attitude and excuses, then silence.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
They’ll probably use the same excuse they used for not addressing conditions. “Costs too much”
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
If you got some transmutation stones, there’s a trick that you can do. I do this all the time on lower characters. I only use dyes on one of each armor class that way I can have dyes available for every class, just send the items to that character, dye them then send them back.
Take a regular white or blue armor. Transmute it with the armor you want to dye abyss black. Pick the stats on the white or blue item, but pick the look of the armor you want dyed, if you have an upgrade on it, ignore it. If the armor was soulbound, it will make it account bound (you will lose the stats and you’ll have to forego the upgrade slot) however due to the outrageous price of abyss dye, you’re actually saving some money. Then you can buy another exotic with the original stats you had + another rune or orb or whatever you had in the upgrade slot. Then transmute the look of the original armor with the stats of the new one (it will still be account bound) then you can add the upgrade and make it soulbound. Thus you have abyss dyed armor on a different character.
So if you got some extra stones (from dailys or what not) then this is your best bet if you can’t afford another abyss dye.
I agree with the dyes being account wide though, they were advertised as such prior to the start of the game and they suddenly decided to drop that. Bad move on their part and I hope they eventually learn the error of their ways and make it like they said they would in the first place.

You opened the smaller chest first, they’re linked. Made the same mistake when I did it the other day.
