Elite Spec: Nightmare

in Mesmer

I really like the thematic of those phantasm skillsas well as the idea of a nightmare/dream weaving Mesmer spec.

Thanks.
I’m hoping for something a bit darker with the Mesmer.
I was also trying to come up with something where the Mesmer has a duality skill that makes some skills alternate between being really soft/pretty to becoming dark and gritty.

Duality- Your phantasm have the ability to be helpful to allies or harmful to foes.
there would be a f5 skill that toggles between the two dualities of inspiration and domination.
In inspiration your phantasms would summon as butterflies and pleasantries and have helpful benefits to allies. In Domination your summons would form as gritty scary things and harm enemies

But maybe ill save that for another spec.

anyone else miss this.
I’d love an elite spec that allowed us to choose one element or even two and gave us weapon swap.

Id love to run around only using water magic to become a great healer.
or using water and air to become a weather mage.

I really think they should have done this with the weaver as its too confusing

Spoken like someone who doesn’t main Mesmer and does give a kitten perfectly.

Yes.

Go complain about what you dislike about your own main class and leave other classes to people who have actually played (and suffered on) them for the last 5 years.

Will do, but I play a lot of classes, and of the nine available, the Mirage is one of the few new specs that I plan to be playing around launch. I’m still on the fence about running Deadeye instead of Daredevil, but Mirage I like.

Not even going to comment on the argument that weaker utility skills from elites compared to core utility skills are fine since one doesn’t have to use them. Pure bias confirmed right there.

It’s just the nature of the game. I main a Thief, I only used one DD Utility over the past year. I also like Guard, I ran Dragon Hunter with no Longbow. I played Tempest without Warhorn, Scrapper with only the med-bot and hammer, Herald without Shield, etc. You don’t have to like every element of a spec to like the spec itself, and Utilities are the lowest priority since you have 20+ other options for each slot, many of which work fine with the new specs.

You don’t like the new spec? That’s fine. My liking it doesn’t mean that you have to. You want changes made? That’s fine, me liking the current base doesn’t mean I would hate any positive changes made. I really don’t get why Mesmers are so freaked out by people actually liking this spec.

No offense.. but people who play this class as a main are looking for more than just a few minutes of fun. They are looking for it to play effectively on top of being just FUN.
I main Mesmer and it is really fun but its lacking purpose on top of having some really messy execution. and the traits… omg the traits.. UGH

Let me start with my main.
Mesmer 5/10
The concept of the mirage is fantastic. Adding more thief to my Mesmer is awesome because these are two classes I enjoy a lot. I’m totally cool with this spec being like a great solo pve class.
BUT IT IS MESSY

-I can almost never do my ambush skills because of the very short cooldown on them.
-The blinks often times face you away from your target.
-Mirage Mirrors are pretty but need more utility.
-too many of our utilities are movement skills even though they are fun.
-some traits are mandatory for the fun of the classs.
-Phantasms are neglected and should have been removed from this spec.

I like the axe and I’m actually still cool with shattering my buddies occasionally

Firebrand 4/10
I think they should have gone full support with this character as a person who made a guardian to feel like a support character or to you know.. GUARD. I’m let down again.
Although this can be saved by making the tomes easier to access when NEEDED and just what were they thinking with the mantras??

Holosmith 10/10
I hate engi as a concept.. but boy this class is fun so I’m happy for you guys who enjoy it

Weaver 4/10
I cant. I literally cant. Just give me two Attunement slots and let me choose the attunements I want to play with. Also i’m just praying to get rid of fire magic.. I don’t know why it just bothers me. I’d love to play water and air ele.

Scourge 10/10
I like it. It feels like a badsass and much different form orginal necro. MUCH LOVE

Deadeye 8/10
I think he needs some quality of life fixes cuz I kept getting stuck in kneel. BUT HES AWESOME

Renegade 2/10
Mostly because the revenant is just all around messy. I don’t play it because the theme is just too all over the place. My human I RP from ebonhawke does not want to summon charr.

Soulbeast 6/10
The merge mech is cool but minus the overly glowy green thing i kinda feel naked and lame. He needs more umph

I didn’t play warrior elite.

Elite Spec: Nightmare

in Mesmer

Some Mesmer are all butterflies and sparkles. Nightmares are Mesmers who decided to use their magic to intimidate their foes into submission. Nightmares no longer just summon illusions of themselves they seek to dominate and control the battlefield by casting horrible illusions on themselves and the area around them. They wield pistols that shoot chaotic bullets opening up portals to unleash nightmares on their foes.

Mechanic-
Mesmer Gain an additional Illusion Spot.
All weapon phantasms are now changed to conjured abilities that effect the Mesmer.
Gain Access to new phantasm skills as utilities. These are unique phantasm that are not attached to a specific enemy but to an area the conjurer chooses and gain all the benefits of the phantasm traits. Gain access to main hand pistol

New Phantasms-
Sword- Ghastly Armor- Summon Ghostly armor that blocks the next three attacks.
If no attacks are blocked send out a wave of chaos that damages and immobilizes foes.

Pistol- Unsoothing images. Summon a veil of illusionary raven that dazes the target for the next three attacks. When the veil expires ravens swarm out and damage and slow enemies around you-

Torch- Choatic Beacon- Summon a ghastly Beacon above you. That pulses regen to allies and burn to enemies

Greatsword- Vicious Weaponry. Summon 5 Blades that attack foes on your next 5 attacks.

Staff- Empathetic Mirror- Summon a mirror that reflects back damage you receive on the enemy each attack also shatters the mirror causing bleeding.

New Weapon- Mainhand Pistol
Ghastly Shot- Shoot a shot that causes vulnerability. bullets pierces and hit enemies it passes through
Ghoul Shot-shoot at the foe causing weakness. bullet pierces
Ghost Shot – shot in the air opening portals that shoot the target from different direction

Conjured Shot- channel a powerful shot that summons nightmares that fly out at the enemy ripping through the thoughts of each foe it passes through.

Rift Shot- Shot at target location opening up a rift that damages cripples and slows enemies in the area. Allies who pass through this rift blink to a random location.

Utitlites Summons(Similar to renegade) take up one illusion slot. Summons look like creepy ghouls but they are illusions/nightmares so they are purple ish.

Healing Skill-
Day Dreamer- Summon a phantasm initially heals you and pulses protection. When shattered heals allies.

Spirit Shackles- Enemies in the area are slowed and Chlled. When Shattered explodes causing big damage.

Confusing Images- Summons a shadow that apples applies tons of confusion. When shattered Taunts enemies for x seconds before disappearing.

Spirit Of Denial – Summon a spirit of denial that grants allies barrier. When Shattered Weakens the area around him.

Hypochondriac- Summon and Illusion that shares conditions applied to one enemy to all enemies. When Shattered Turns all enchantments into conditions.

Elite-
Conjure Nightmare- Summon a nightmare that pulses stun. When shattered all enemies in his area are knocked down.

Main traits-
Bond over Nightmares- Share lesser versions of your phantasmal weapons skills to your allies.
Duality- Your Summons look like butterflies to allies and pulse healing 3×.
Dieing in your dreams- foes hit by a phantasm under 25% health are struck with x stacks of torment.

This is kinda like a ritualist through the eyes of a Mesmer. It would be nice to summon something other than myself.

We already have 3 solid healers in gw2. It is the meta’s fault that everyone and their mother listen’s to the “Meta” bull crap to think that there is any another classes besides Zerker and Condi.

Having the class be support as its theme is the thing that is missing!
THEME!!!
ranger at is core is a bow animal guy.
ele- is a classic mage
guardian – is the closest thing that comes to that but is more paladin themed and not healing themed.

Monk would have its theme start off as support themed.
then could have an elite spec that is smite based and one that is more offensive support base.

You kidding right? All druid can do succesfully is heal and support. That is what their class mechanic is all about.

One thing that I think needs a definition is “class”. A ranger is a ranger, but a Druid is not a ranger. They are a different class with a whole new class mechanic. The soul reason a druid was made was for support and heals. While they can do other things, that is not what they where made for.

Currently there are 18 classes in the game. 4 of them can heal pretty good, 3 of them are amazing at it.

We dont need a healing support class we already got 3 of them that are fantastic at it.

Theme is completely different than mechanics.

A cloth wearing support character who looks to be weak offensively but is strong defensively is a character most of us who enjoy support have played in every MMO.

My point is not that the other classes cant do healing. its not that the druid is a great healing spec but while the ability to heal and support are in game. The feeling that you get from playing one of these archetypes is missing from the game.
Again guardian is paladin style.. and a lot of us hate heavy armored classes. I’ve literally tried everything to make my guardian feel like a cloth wearer.. but his most support weapon is a mace.. which is.. just not the feels people like the top poster are looking for.

For instance FFXIV has 3 healers.
Astro/White Mage/Scholar.
There is no class that has the same feeling as the above three classes.
and that is why BRING THE MONK BACK threads pop up all the time.

Have you never camped water Ele?

you cant do that if you want to play effectively. also its boring to camp one attunement.
However if they ever give us the option to just have to choose one attunement and gain weapons swap. I will be very happy!!

Tbh, I disagree with everyone here.

(Contrarian position for the win).

Mirage is neither supposed to be a shatter spec, nor an illusion manipulation spec.

It’s supposed to be a completely useless spec that accomplishes nothing, fixes nothing, and is just there to fill a check box.

[X] – Mesmer got an elite spec

That’s it.

“It’s meant to deceive with clones” – Literally what Mesmer was described as doing since launch.
“It’s meant to shatter” – Literally what Mesmer has been doing since launch, outside of the old tanky retaliation build.
“It’s meant to use the ambushes” – All of the ambuses except for sword are downgrades from the auto attacks, and sword is mostly for movement.

Honestly, if Mirage was meant to do anything, it was meant to be a thief with loads of mobility and dodges. Look at the absolute insanity in movement abilities. Sword 1, 3 utilities, our elite is literally 3 short range jumps.

I don’t know why everyone isn’t seeing the obvious. It’s just a high mobility mesmer spec. That’s it. That’s all it has.

They didn’t even try to make it do better damage with illusions. They didn’t even try to make it better at shattering than Chrono. They didn’t even try to make it do better damage solo.

They just thought “Hey, lets give it mobility skills & evades, and tack on some other stuff too”.

OOOH gurl! I love its mobility. I’m super happy with the movement util skills.
I know they are not super useful to the team but they make for some fun solo pve!!!

The class can be saved! they just need to add more utility with the mirrors. Make Them be the object that we shatter. Creating mirages on the field that aid allies or harm enemies based on the shatter. Fix EM JESUS

IMO they are a great design exactly because they are not merely cuter generic humans, but truly plant-creatures. Keep it that way, ok?.

well the females already have this option..
and you have the option to be very planty creatures already..
all I’m asking is for an option for myself which is a cutie with plant hair who doesn’t have a overly planty face.

I really wish they would bring back the armor styles of GW1
I played Mesmer at the time because I wanted to work in fashion and boy did the Mesmer of gw1 has STYLE
I loved the look of the other classes too.
and then when we went into elona and cantha.
They stayed true to those cultures fashion and it was amazing. Combining the high fantasy with historic fashion ahhh I was hooked.

Whoever is designing things now isn’t really doing a great job. I’m sorry to say. Everything is just soooo flashy there is no logic to why things would be designed that way.

I just realized my struggle with the current state of design while typing this.
LOGIC.
Back in gw1 they really design armor with logic in mind. NOW they just slap a dragon tail on the back of plate armor because.. cool.

I get that there is variety and you can mix and match and make cool designs.
But yes… its totally hard to stand next to someone with a fractal backpack and take them seriously. “why are you constantly glowing green” I asked the character standing next to me shining with all his might"
“why snowfall constantly dropping over you?” I ask my self as we stand in the desert of elona
“oh so that weapon adds sparkles to your footsteps” are dragons intimidated by sparkles
“oh you are a charr a race of beast like cats who forge weapons and tanks?” I say as I stand next to the charr shooting out rainbow unicorns from his sparkly short bow.

look I like that these are there… but the game has just become oversaturated with it. PLZ CHILL with the auras man.. I literally can not!

so many people are always gonna bash this idea..
Its mostly fanboying to guild wars 2 and the removal of the healing class.
I played the gw1 and I played monk.
Smite magic was the go to for soloing things and could be pretty effective.
I do miss protection magic! It felt so good to not allow my party to take damage at all.

I get guild wars 2 has different mechanics.. but I think if you really think about it they are all kind of broken at this point and make no sense.

They are building support classes but they cant really do it because support while doing damage is often overpowered.
Look at the scourge.. it will either be OP or Nerfed to the ground which is the constant cycle all classes go through.

I love this game. but really the combat system is becoming over saturated and messy and I would love for them to take some time and redo it.

combat needs a revamp. everything is too twitch to passive. We need cast times. Some spells should require you to stand still. Some things should be channeled.

Nothing feels BIG it just feels like we are pressing buttons.
I know skill is involved in things like wvw/pvp/high level fractals/raids
but if you are just a casual pvp guy you are likely just pressing buttons and dodging out of the tons of red circles the game throws at you

i’m a mesmer and guardian fan.

Mirage – really digging the concept but i think some of the tools given via traits and skills should just be apart of the mirage.
clones should always get mirage cloak when you do.
and there should be an f5 skills that blinks you and all your clones around the foe and apply ambush.
Give us traits that make the mirrors more intresting.

Guardian- I’m cool with offensive support. but i was kinda hoping for defensive support. I’m very suprised you didnt think barrier was a good idea for this class.

Mirage Mirrors improvements

in Mesmer

Posted by: Artyport.2084

Artyport.2084

I like the idea of enemies and allies be able to trigger the mirage mirrors.
If the enemy triggers it it shatters and does a good amount of damage and you gain mirage cloak. If ally triggers it you both gain mirage cloak.

and this is a wild dream.
If ally triggers mirage mirror they turn into you for a quick sec and can do an ambush attack.

Idea to make Mirrors Tactical

in Mesmer

Posted by: Artyport.2084

Artyport.2084

I’d like enemies to be able to trigger mirrors, too. You can drop mirrors on enemies for an extra mirage cloak (no need to add more dodges naturally).

I was thinking something similar. Enemies can also trigger the mirror exploding them and giving you mirage cloak.
It would add some awesome gameplay to always be trying to tactically trying to damage an enemy with your mirrors

I just need to vent, feel free to ignore.

But yeah, remove infinite horizon, substantially improve Ambush skills, and IMO remove the shatter buttons and replace them with the deception skills.

I really hope they never give Mesmer a rifle..

Like its a mesmer its not suppose to be a direct damage class.

That is a pretty bold claim. Have you got a source for that?

I kind of agree with that idea, although I’m open to having a damage spec.

I’m a GW1 Mesmer main and the builds I played were very much support based through Interrupts/energy denial and that’s how I view the Mesmer. They deal damage but that’s a secondary effect – the crowd control and utility are the primary.

the support u talked about in gw1 is just interrupt and some soft cc . due to mobs design , they dont have skill bars like players . the kind of support gw1 mes had (effective or not ) can not work with gw2 content .sorry ,but we are not playing card deck here .

secondly , only illusion skills of gw1 mes could be considered as conditions like gw2 ones . dom line is direct damage while its situational damage but it is not damage over time like conditions in gw2. inspiration skills are mostly for energy management, some hex removal too . and fast casting is pretty much quickness + alacrity in gw2

currently all useful support gw2 could offer have nothing like gw1 mes support which i explained why it is so .

why should any gw2 mes main want an elite spec with gw1 mes “support”that never work.

what we need is unique mechanics that doesnt give flat number, but tricky playstyle with proper dps or support that works in gw2 content .it should not be limited into some manipulating theme or mental influence theme which anet tried to make and we all know how awful that design went .

Please no more manipulating kitten , gw2 AI won’t never ever be able to fool any experienced player in any possible way .

Nah.. They could do it. I recently noticed that Livia in the last episode of the living story had a hex.
Fragility each time a foe is struck with a condition they receive damage.

They originaly took hexes out of the game because they wanted to simplify gameplay.(in my opinion a bad idea)
But they could certainly bring them back now as they have added lots of complexity with traits.

Utility Skills: Hexes
Hexes are skill placed on targets that can be negated by either dodge roll or block.
Giving two simple counters to them in pvp while adding the complexity for the Mesmer to make sure certain conditions are in place for their skills to take place.
Forcing a dodge roll/stunning an enemy/etc

Backfire- place a hex on the ground enemies who are effected next attack is interrupted and does damage in an area around them. can be negated if enemy use a dodge roll
Vulnerability- place a hex on your target. Your illusions do increased damage to the target and apply vulnerability with each strike. can be negated by block.
Energy drain- place a hex on that deals 3 strikes over a period of time. each one granting you barrier. can be evaded by block
Empathy-Target next 3 attacks cause blindness and deal heavy damage. can be negated by dodge roll.
Elite-Clumsiness place a hex on the ground enemies in area are knocked down on their next attack and become confused.
can not be negated.

Mesmer was all about complexity and making some really tough decisions to have big effects on the battle field. I want dat!

Mirage needs 2 things to be perfected!

Infinite Horitzon baseline
and f5 skill that retargets are illusions to our current targets.
those two things would be enough to make me happy

butttt…..

getting rid of infinite horizon opens up for a new trait!
Like a third dodge trait/or a trait that gives mirage cloak to allies when touching a mirage mirror

having the f5 skills retargeting your illusions allows for another deception skill.
I really want more oasis themed things.

and last but certainly not least… can we pretty plz get an offhand that doesn’t have a phantasm and has an extra clone generator.
if not a new one just take one off of the previous ones.
the torch one has always kinda sucked and while I like the focus one its kinda wild and unmesmery.

We already have that its called minstrel chrono.

My idea power spec the main mechanic is that you get a stacking buff of increased effectiveness on your f skills for every illusion you shatter for x seconds. Max illusions raised to 4. All the shatters replaced by 4 ew skills.

1 skill is the shatter on a low cd.
2nd one depends on your mainhand
3rd one is a combo between mainhand and offhand
4rth is for the offhand

(2handed weapons get 3 skills about the 2handed)

All get added functionalities or numeric values the more stacks of the buff you got.

Weapon spear: specialises on summoning illusions and cc. Has really strong dmg with well telegraphed skills.

In no way similar and im kinda sick of you power people. Like its a mesmer its not suppose to be a direct damage class.

My class is based around support but there would be many ways to build an offensive class with traits.

Siren.

Mechanic change.
Change chatter skills into songs. Illusions are destroyed on the second tap of the song.
All phantasms are changed to instruments when the instruments are held they take up 1 of the three slots on the illusion bar. While holding them you pay a continuous song that aid allies or hinder enemies.

F1 Song of Force.- all of illusions sing a song of force for the duration of the songs enemies near the clone take damage and become vulnerable.
F2. Song of Frustration- illusions sing a song that inspires allies next attack to cause confusion enemies near the songs become immobile.
F2. Inspirational voices- Illusion sing a song that lets allies next 3 attacks heal.
F4. Alluring Voices- enemies are taunted by your illusions and are blinded.

Weapon- Warhorn
1.do- attack the target with a wave of sound
—>re- add an additonal note that casues vulnerabilty
—→me add another note that grants regeneration

2. Astounding Chorus- summon two play a song that deals damage to enemies and gives protection to allies

3. Prismatic Uptempo- Enemies struck by this song are damaged and slowed while allies gain swiftness and distortion

What would really help is if folks like yourself you think the implementation is “messy” would describe what that actually means. What is the concept that you like? How does its execution fall short? What do you think they should have done instead (if indeed, you have a suggestion). Simply saying -1 doesn’t offer them anything to work with.

There’s like 200 different sets in the game atm, they are adding 5 at least with PoF. When you think about that, it’s actually more like 75 sets, 3 armor classes and 5 races make it a lot harder than you think to make this stuff. They have said it takes 9 months to do armor sets.

except for that one time where they were pumping out armor sets on the gem store like no bodies business

Use the renown hearts to make an armor set for each map.
This will makes sure that each map is consistently used so that people have to come to a specific map to get a specific armor set.

5 maps = 5 armor sets.
At this point it can even be the same style armor as you can really tell the difference between what class you are based on armor type due to outfits

We need more armors in game.
Don’t just give us like 4 or 5.

K thanks!

I want to name and pet my mount!!

I mean he is so cute. I want to summon him next to me and just give him a few pats. I don’t want to call him raptor. He’s tommy.

So please anet let me be able to summon him in the real world without always being on top of him and give me the option to name him.

To me the staff is a good weapon technically but it feels very inactive and kinda passive.
Adding A second portion to the skill would add some fun to the weapon.

My Idea?

Chaos Armor
Chaos Explosion-Explode your chaos armor damaging your enemies and grant boons to allies.

Your ideas?

1) faster
2) cool
3) replace with a skill no phantasm( I would love a build that just used clones)
4) cast on you and all allies
5) bring back visuals stun on cast conditions after cast

How to Play STAFF?

Artyport.2084

It’s not awful, it’s just that you never want to use all skills of it. The whole setup is strange. Auto is pure condi, and even that part is rather bad, staff 2 is awesome for everyone, I’d just like it to not create a clone when we have 3 phants out already … 3 is only good for power builds, 4 is pretty much always garbage, slightly ok for pvp but the cd is ridiculous and CS feels like you throw rotten eggs at someone – not dangerious at all but annoying, yet still better than doing nothing (if you hate that person)…

However I use the staff in raids from time to time too, but only if I go max dps for fun. Maybe it’s even a good idea to do so in some situations, I will try at sabby for instance, once I’ve got a good dps meter that is legal.

For open world it’s a great weapon to solo normally dangerious champs like this one:

Staff is an all around boring weapon all of the skills minus AA and phase retreat are super utility and should go on that side of the bar

Do phantasmns need a redesign?

I love the Mesmer.. In theory
But in practice I have always felt something was missing.
Phantasms are really boring and offer a inactive play style. I actually complained about this in beta.
There is nothing fun about summoning a creature that sits there a attracts every three seconds
I think they need a rework in making them feel more dynamic and useful

Does anyone like them?

My personal opinion is that they should no longer be tied to an enemy. They should be summons that change the reality of the battlefield

Example: phantasmal nightmare- summon nightmare in a targeted area foes attacking in this field are damage and gain 1s of bleeding for each attack

Phantasmal warden- summon an illusionary warden allies attacking in this field are healed for each attack

Phantasmal beserker- summon a berserker at targeted area that does damage every x seconds and burns foes

All of them can still be attacked to offer counterplay
It would also be neat if they weren’t just clones of yourself. But fun illusions

Ghostly image for nightmare
Butterfly for warden
Beast for berserker

What do you think? Are you currently having fun with phantasms?

It’s has a really boring weapon with only like 2 active skills

That’s kind of a problem actually. Even in PvP. It’s a weapon you don’t really want to AA with, but at the same time, you don’t get much else. Basically, it’s good to proc chaos armor and phase retreat can be fun in some places (especially PvP maps).

Yep. Dropping the phantasm is super boring the AA is boring chaos armor is soooo boring. Choas storm is cool but they nerfed the visual. So it’s now boring. Phase retreat is awesome

Suggestions: Glider Skins [merged]

Artyport.2084

How about a glider that we can earn in game and not on the gem store!

Stop complaining about this please. Remember that most games with a cash shop add in but to play options guild wars is doing the right thing by adding in purely cosmetic things in the store. They have to make money. Armor/runes/sigils/weapons should be earned in game. But fun things like glider skins should be mostly gem store.

I want Tengu as the next playable race!

Dwarves are cooler than any other race.

Let’s bring them along with Elves. I bet they will be the best addition to the GW universe!

I would love if the CANTHANS under the United rule of the ministry of purity became elf like due to some insane magic to keep them pure from outside sources and fear off becoming corrupted again. They would dress in kurzrick style with the beautiful markings of the Luxond… Albeit more monotone. With the building design of the people from kaineng

Mesmers should have high damage and high evasion skills but die if caught.

Isn’t that the case already though? Especially if they stack confusion and torment but I think you meant power damage. Mesmer can feel like either a really cheap duel or a fair duel depending on if you’re familiar with the class. I don’t play it but have experience against them. Last patch they were a nightmare to duel since on an ele we’d stalemate on point.

Mesmer is definitely like that… Although the damage lately has been a mess.
The point is that the warrior and guardian can have a very similar play style. Super dodgy , high evasion. BURSTY. bursts is really a great example of this. Their is very little variation in how we deal damage. Their isn’t a class that does sustained damage really well keeping pressure up but eventually getting you down or a class that does slow but powerful damage overtime.

Almost ever time I die in pvp it’s because someone chained three powerful skills together after a well timed cc.

Gw1 had that feeling. I used to play Mesmer and assassin. Mesmer would take sometime to kill people draining their health and spiking them with skills like empathy or backfire

I also playerd assassin squishy ASF but a well time burst could down a player.

Warriors would always be right in your face constantly applying pressure.

The other big issue is the lack of sacrifice for anything.
Everyone can do everything so quickly and because of that nothing can persist for very long.

Example: when ele cast healing rain its cast time is like 1 sec and the skill last about 3. It’s soo twitchy that it looses its feeling of being substantial. I would love it if the cast time lasted longer but the field stayed active for like 7 seconds making it feel like an important yet hard to use skill. As of now nothing in the game feels super powerful it’s just something that’s there then is gone.

Yeah I guess that’s a more accurate description of conditions. You apply a lot of 2s bleeding randomly instead of purposely giving 10s of bleeding.

Armor weight should have meaning for sure while not making it op. That’s generally called class balance. Guardians being really defensive but having low hp. Warriors should be powerful enough to take on many enemies but have less mobility. Mesmers should have high damage and high evasion skills but die if caught.
. I think it’s great that we are able to play multiple roles on the same class but that could still be done using this method.

Gw1 was great. I personally think this game suffers from everything being too fast and instant. Too short cast time. Very little counter play. They want you to watch animations but they are all so twitchy. Conditions don’t last long enough. I hate the stacking. Stats are ridiculous. Profession weight class mean nothing. 90 % of shield skins don’t do what shields would do.

I love the game but the whole combat system needs a revamp

I would really enjoy fighting more Npcs with profession skills.
Why doesn’t this happen. The funniest Npcs to fight are the ones in heart of the mist.
Also I would really like to see Npcs who are labeled as, for example, Mesmer using warrior skills.

Enchanter: Doing Something fun with Phantasms

The idea is nice and all… I just don’t want any specialization which puts even more focus on AI on Mesmers. We got enough issues with that already. I also don’t see how this would fill any ‘holes’ the class might have. Phantasms might be less popular than in the past. But they don’t really represent a specific role and ANet isn’t too fond of them anyway.

To be honest, I can’t even tell what kind of specialization I’d like to see next. I feel that our class mechanic heavily limits what else we can or could do because of the way we generate our resources and traits are linked to our shatters. What I can say: MH Pistol, yes please… We need more mainhands. We got plenty offhands.

Actually the whole idea is to take the A.I. out of the class. The Phantasms only really exist to enchant you(buff you) and provide a visual cue for the decision you make.

This would play like a support class that buffs/debuffs enemies and allies .

I’ve never really been a fan of Phantasms in their current state so I came up with an elite spec idea (when I couldn’t sleep) that makes phantasms more interesting. I was inspired by the concept art of the attached image. I also wanted to get back that Empathy/Backfire feeling from GW1

Enchanter: Enchant yourself allies and enemies with powerful spell and shouts.
New Mechanic: Personal Phantasms. Your phantasm are no longer bound to your enemies but are instead bound to you. You can only have one phantasm enchanted on you at a given time. Phantasms can still be attacked and shattered and all previous traits apply to them. You also get a buff called Enchanted which effects what happens on the next attack or when you are attacked. Enchantments only affect weapon skills and not auto attack.

New Skills: The New phantasm skills have a dual function one for when you are attacked and one for when attacked. This is gain by a buff called enchanted and you can chose how you use the skill. You can either choose to be defensive or Offensive. You are enchanted every three seconds

Torch- Inferno Phantasm( Summons an inferno monster illusion) Once you are enchanted when attacked burn the attacker and enemies in the area. If you choose to attack send out an illusionsary fireball towards your enemy

Sword- Empathetic illusion: (Summons a large Illusionary Sword) If attacked your sword swipes at the enemy doing large damage. If attacking copy all boons from foe and cause vulnerablity

Focus-Peaceful Warden( Summon Butterfly) become enchanted. If you are attacked you and allies in 600 radius are healed. If attacking Gain aegis.

Pistol- cant think of anything

Staff- Knightmare( Summon Nightmare) When attacked grant blinding, weakness, vulnerabitly. If Attacking grant Poison, torment, Confusion

GreatSword- Duality( summon a copy of yourself) If attacked this clone blocks the attack. If attacking your phantasm copies your next skill.

Shouts:
“Let Me INSPIRE you” – allies are enchanted an aura(cute butterflies) which negates damage and heals them for the next 2 attacks.

“Thier Minds Are Weak” -your and all allies are enchanted the next attack interrupt foes

“It was all an Illusion”- enchant your allies when attacked allies gain stealth when attacking allies loose conditions

“You are Confused”- Enchant allies their next attack deals confusion and gives chaos armor if attacked.

Elite:
“Cry In FRUSTRATION” the next time your ally is attacked the attacker is badly Stunned" If you attack gain blur and this skill is recharched faster.

NEW WEAPON: MAIN-HAND PISTOL
cuz PEW PEW

This is a rough draft obviously and only something that will happen in MY DREAMS!!
