If nerfing ONE skill turns the class into “trash”, then perhaps the bigger problem than the nerf is that the class was trash to begin with and being carried by the skill.

Warrior without banner is trash, rev without glint is trash, etc etc … such a good message kappa

Warrior has had banner from the get go. My core mesmer has been and will continue to be just fine without Precog. If you need it to make Chrono viable, then here’s a tissue.

Oh ANET.
You fail so hard with this skill..
Find another solution but giving aegis every 3 seconds is useless.. Its not even a nerf its making the skill not usuable.
3 seconds of aegis will mean someone will hit you and you will end up missing the second buff of aegis and only maybe getting the last one. You most likely will end up block 1 or 2 attacks at most.
Also this isnt very mesmer like at all its a skill for the guardian.
Give us back our blur.. figure it out.

They are a bit unimaginative, but they’re also pretty useful. Considering how imaginative the rest of the mesmer/chrono class is compared to other classes, I think they can get a pass on this. =P

The problem I have with the main hand scepter is its the only other option for main hand besides the sword and its visually uninteresting and skillfully unimaginative. if we had a third base off hand this would not be a problem but since we only have 2 it doesn’t really set up up well for future specs.

I guess the best option would be just add another weapon.

Id like the rifle to be 900 range but have a mechanic that would allow it to be at 1200 range.
Example
F2 Skill Mark Target
Mark Your target changing the way your number 3 ability works providing long range skill for each skill set.
This would be cool as it would provide alternatives for more than just your rifle shot.

Rifle Mark target skill 3. Shoot a devastating skill from 1200 that leaves a burning trail along the way.

They are both so unimaginative and boring.
The visual effect sucks.
We have a block on 3 of our weapon skills and its almost redundant at this point.

I would like to see if off the main hand personally as base mesmer only has 2 mainhand weapons and the block on it is just so boring and redundant with the sheild.
but i would settle for the sword because if I was a mesmer I think i would be able to think of more creative things to do with my sword than block.

Ideas.
Main Hand Scepter:
Skill 2
2a.Vortex: Open up vortex that pulls in all projectiles and causes damage in the ground targeted area
2b. Vortex explosion: Explode vortex knocking down enemies in the area.

Off Hand Sword Skill.
Skill 4
Empathy: Throw and illusionary sword at 2 targets each time these foes damage you they also damage themselves. base damage on hit. (Similar to the ranger elite.)

I think this really sets up the mesmer for future elite specs better than the current skills do. You can add another main hand block on a future elite spec if people really miss it.

But that would give us too many skills at once!
Solution
When traited for tempest you get two attunement slots that you can select two different attunements
And allow you too weapon swap.

Would open up a lot of new options for the tempest

New weapon : main hand scepter
New feature: personal golem
Like the ranger you have a pet that can be controlled through your f1 skills
U also go around the world to collect parts to assemble your own unique golem aesthetics only
New weapon: scepter
Skill 1: aetheric blast- u and your golem shoot a blast of energy at your target
Skill 2: overload: u and your golem gain shocking aura after a bit of a delay send out a shockwave to damage and immobilize foes
Skill 3: hyper beam teleport into your golem and shoot a huge wave of energy at your enemies stunning up to 5 targets
F1 skills apply different weapons to your golem and changes the the skill effects for the golem

F1: kinetic gun: shoot out a shot that knock downs foes
f2: Gravity gun: target location shot that floats enemies
F3 etc
New skill type: conjures:
Conjure golem parts and unleash them on enemies
Can be shared with allies
Abortion Ray: conjure an absorption Ray that aids allies and protects them

Ok ok. I know we just got the first one but I don’t think future specs are so far off so here’s me giving my wishes to anet

The minstrel:

New weapon: the war horn
Skills :
empathetic song- deal damage to a for by projecting you lovely voice. target becomes extremely vulnerable. Enemies near the target also take damage and become confused
Phantasm all harmony-summon a phantasm that spa a heal in surrounding areas and enemies who enter are slowed
New skill type:conjure
Illusionary harp: summon an illusionary harp to heal and grant positive effects on allies
Illusionary flute: high in condition damage
Illusionary lute: power damage
Performers illusion: dancing based with a phantasm attached
Elite: conjure pefromance : summon three phantasms for the duration of this conjure. Phantasm all practice the routine you play with your skills. Essentially you loose all phantasms with these performers and your new 1-5 skills are different parts of the performance

Blah just a random idea. I love the idea of a dancer musician class in guild wars 2

I’m sure this topic has come up but I have a few ideas of how i would like to see this changed!

Sheild #4 skill.
Protective rush- Dash forward leaving a blaze of light that damages and slows enemies and grants protection to allies. Does not require target ground targeted like the warriors spin ahead skill. light feild

Sheild #5
Pulsating Sheild- Push enemies away with a protective bubble for the duration of the channel and heal allies inside.
Sheild #5 part b.
Leave the bubble behind that absorbs projectiles

Or whatever just do something shelild needs to be used!

My dream

All phantasm skills are replaces by new field skills that can be exploded via shatters

Utilities:
1: spatial surge- Teleport allies 600 infront of the direction they are moving healing them for 25% teleport enemies away dealing damage and slowing them
2: time out: create a field that pulses immobilize
3: time swap: switch spaces with enemy
4: future pain: deal heavy damage if the enemy is not affected by the foe will heal for half the damage in 3 seconds

Sheild:
1: phase block- block an attack and gain distortion and reflection for 3 seconds
2: field of velocity- toss sheild in a line infront of you creating a field that slows enemies and grants haste to allies- when shattered also knocks down enemies

Sword field:
Feild of displacement: swipe your sword creating a line field infront of you creating a pulsing field of damage – when shattered enemies in field a displaced

Focus field:
Field of better days: create a field that grants regeneration and might to allies- when shattered heals allies in field

Staff field:
Field of aging: field pulses slow and damage- when shattered gives out all weakness poison and confusion to foes trapped inside for 8 seconds

Great sword field:
Field of the singularity: create a area that taunts enemies- when shattered does heavy damage in 6oo range

I’m imagining a reaper like class:
Lots of spinning and dark magic
Using the life force gained as a source of power to unleash

Skill 1: slash /slash/ frozen spin ( a la Marjory )
Skill 2: feebled ground: spin with your great sword in a path in front of you damaging foes in your path leaving behind a dark feild that pulses damage and weakness a
Skill 3: grim reapers: plunge sword into ground bringing up bone spikes in the area around you
Skill 4: shadow vortex: maintain skill- spin with your greatsword creating a vortext that taunts and slows in a 300 radious . Explode vortext damaging foes in a 600 radius
Skill 5: summoned might: slice in front of you dealing damage to enemies and unleashing a wave that gives fear to enemies and might to allies

Norn in a Skritt costume, that would be one huge and scary looking Skritt! I like it actually, but it would have to be in the form of a costume like Mad King Thorn’s or something the like. If it worked like a tonic (changing your stature) then I’d be rather annoyed.

This is a costume I’d buy if done as an actual costume.

Alright! Since anet decided to no give us new races to play wouldn’t the next best alternative be to give us costumes of the races based off npc’s in the game. That way we could still fight as these character but wouldn’t allow much customization outside of weapons. Most of these characters already have animations

Back in the past when confusion damage weren’t nerfed in PvP / WvW there was a build that was destroying absolutely every other classes thanks to confusion. The build was abusing a synergy between “blinding befuddlement” (which hadn’t any ICD) and “Dazzling glamours”. Well that was back in the good old days…

Uh, no. Haha, no.

Glamour builds were quite strong against large groups, but to say that it was ‘destroying absolutely every other class thanks to confusion’ is hilariously wrong. Glamour builds were absolute trash for anything less than an engagement consisting at least 10 players on each side.

On a different note, the title of this thread is clickbait worthy of a ’ 10 SECRETS YOUR DOCTOR DOESN’T WANT YOU TO KNOW! ’ ad…

They have said that they specialization will vastly changed the way you play your character and what could change the way we play more.
I think they will replace our phantasms with new more active skills
This would justify giving us just an off hand as oppose to a two hand because we would be given more skills through our already existing weapon sets

If we become chonamancers they will be replace with time based skills
Staff: time stop- all targets in area are all immobilized fo 2 seconds and take x damage
Great sword: retraction- use ur gsword to block attack blink enemy backwards and stun
Sword: reversed swipe- slash your for and blink backwards
Focus: cryogenic release- freeze foe after the enemy is frozen gains confusion
Sheild: distortion field allies in area gain distortion enemies gain confusing
Sheild 2: empathy gain a blocking stance for x seconds and gain retaliation each time ur struck create a clone

Gm Trait: remember the time- your clone does the damage or applies the condition/boon of the previous skill used before they were created for one strike

Blah just fun ideas
But this would completely change the way u play your Mesmer and allow you to keep your clones for the shatters

Why? It doesn’t incorporate the sheild at to cast. The spell doesn’t relate to the sheild at all. If it is a sheild skill I will be disappointed

I like the idea, but the problem is that the fact that clones look like you serves an important purpose – no, most people are not fooled by them for more than a few seconds, but those seconds could be vital. In PvE, sure. In PvP/WvW, I need my clones as much for distraction as for damage.

But I’m not talking about clones!
Phantasms is what they would be. And absolutely no one is mistaking us for one of those purple shiny things.

I just want to summon a shiny purple butterfly that heals.

1. Support Class. That works with game mechanics but is not neccesarry inorder to complete dungeons but a joy to have around. (not like an in your face guardian)(And with and actual support theme) aka bard, monk, blah blah. alot of us miss this character and feel our role is missing from the game.
2. Focus on making story the core of the game. Deep DEEP DDEEEEPPPP STORY STUFF. Dark and Thick Lore.
3. Allowing for a quick swap between traits and armor to easily swap between roles
So you can have a DPS setup a Condition Setup and a Support Setup and be able to swap between the three easily.

I am not sure what the class mechanic is supposed to be. Could you please expand on it. The biggest thing for any potential class is that the class mechanic is unique and not just a reskined version of another class. The unique mechanic touches every build and is what gives the class is feel. You can skin skills to any theme.

Right now if I read this correctly is that you have 2 additional skill bats tied to activating f1 or f2. This unfortunately is very close to the ele mechanic, the stancelike mechanic butIis a bit weaker. It also has bits of the engineer kits as well.

Ideally you want a class mechanic that doesn’t evoke the other classes

The class mechanic are two Sets of skills that act as your secondary weapon set that are triggered to the F1 and F2.
IE.
Songs of Inspiration: turns your Secondary Weapon set into a harp.

Soo Yes they are similar to the engi and ele but different as you have access to both on a cool down and that are always with you.
So its a mix of both. while still being its on thing.

While I get that the guardian is suppose to fulfill the support archetype in guild wars 2. I feel like a lot of people including myself are really missing the more castery light armor supporter of the group feel. I understand people don’t want a healer in the group but it would be great to get that Healer feel disguised in mechanics that work for guild wars 2.

The Artist has several utilities at her disposal.

Skill Types

Dances- Dancing are movable skills that have a medium cast time

Routines- Performances that require the user to stand still for a duration creating an AOE affect around the Artist

Songs-Are Channeled skills that can be used while using other skills.

nstruments- Are utility skills that can be used to play a quick song.
i.e. Cry of the flute- Uses a flute to damage and apply torment to enemy.

Weapons:

Staff- Using the staff to bring magic to her powerful dances the artist can heal and inspire allies while damaging enemies
Dance of the monk- Allies nearby are healed and gain protection. (Does not affect you) Small damage to foes

Focus-

Special Skills
F1 and F2 are skill that trigger you secondary weapon set allowing you to wield your instruments

Harp- The harp is used to inspire allies

Blissful song- Allies are healed gain rejuvenation and protection for 3 secondkitten

e- Is meant to cause fear for your enemies in the midst of battle.

Song of Battle- allies in area gain might and enemies are vulnerable.

It’s funny how all those who can’t manage to use Mantras want to change them in a way so they can use it. But those who already use them will be ****ed when they’ll change that way.

Right now mantras are indeed precasted skills with a high (well, medium now) casttime. But their actual purpose is that you can use the charges any time, while reviving, while dodging, while attacking with other skills and even while charging other mantras. You simply don’t use mantras as you use other skills.
They have great uses and potentials, but alot mesmers just want to use them like all other classes …

Queen sacrifice. It looks like in the background there is a purple explosion… Which could be mesmer magic that is released to save the city against attackers. The queen dies in its place starting a political battle of who should be the new leader. Also causing frustration over the peace treaty with the charr being upheld. Until another member of the royal bloodline steps up to maintain the royal bloodline instead of caduceus coming into power
