This issue started to annoy me lately and getting me more annoyed day by day.
I’m really tired of this bukalemun mouse curser. It has such a design and color that most of the times in the middle of battle, it gets camouflaged. Aaaaaand I die…

Breakout events are just the most lame concept ever. I was even surprised Anet did such a thing.
However it has a useful feature too: The dolyak coming with the npc commander. I really liked it, it gives us supply when we don’t have any.
BUT, what on earth is giving people free sieges? How could you give people free sieges, while the other team gets them with gold and badges? Isn’t this unfair? I understand throwing around free supply, it was already necessery, but throwing free sieges around? Come on!

If all peeps change their class to thief that will send a message to Anet that their game is broken. Just imagine all classes inside WvW are thieves, we will just laugh how laughable Anet games are.

When I die I want to look around for a little bit to see how my team is doing. I say let the corpse be able to see normally for 20-30 seconds and then force the map.
And make the “a noble soul is healing you” a bit more obvious, because a lot of players still waypoint out when others are ressing them…
This is the most suitable comment. Yes, make ppl should be able to look around for 20-30 seconds or even for 1 min after they died, but not more time than that. Then, put the map on their screen, so they won’t corpse-scout.

The solution for this is easy;
Just respawn the dead player to the most far spawn point automatically after a particular time.
Just wait until you get a group of 10 mesmers. Instant zerg. Have fun trying to find the real ones in stealth.

I’m also tired of thieves’ stealth culling issue, but this “removing stealth by damage” is completely nonsense.
Why don’t we get completely rid of stealth since this kind of adjustment would make stealth useless?
Stealth should stay, that’s what makes thieves a thief. Also, removing stealth by damage shouldn’t be an option, instead of that, there should be other solutions to this problem.

First of all WvWvW is balanced for large scale battles , where thieves are an joke
Check some videos on youtube from zerg vs zerg … an warrior make 30 – 40 kills in 1 minute and you complain about thief and how Op it is –
Forget about 1 vs 1 in WvWvW , there are 300 – 500 players on every map
Regarding 2 vs 6, i refuse to belive that 6 players can lose vs 2 thieves. And if you lost 6 vs 2 the issue is with you , not with thief class.
Watch some YouTube videos , and then come say that again.
3. Rangers are underwhelming in wvw.
Only vs range Warriors and Mesmer (but who isn’t)
All other ranged attacks can easily be avoided while spaming shortbow autoattack and meeles have to charge into tons of traps and can be kited/dodged.
Maybe I just haven’t met any pro rangers yet, but as a thief, rangers are the easiest class to kill.

If you think the only way to beat a thief is to use Moa morph then you’re playing at a low skill level. I’ve never even purchased Moa morph because I don’t waste skillpoints on unnecessary skills since I’m saving all my skill points for the legendary weapon.
And I don’t run a shatter build, and I don’t beat them by running a phantasm build either. I don’t hide while phantasms kill them and come back to finish them. I actually stand toe to toe with thieves. No, I’m not bunker build either. I found a sweet spot for how much toughness I need to not get one shotted. I don’t stack any vitality because it is a wasted stat for my playstyle. And like I said, I use my defensive skills proactively.
I hate to use this term because it is usually attached to criticism that is not constructive, but Learn to Play. This is really a learn to play issue.
I still didn’t get how this render problem is a L2P issue…

Upgrading should be free.
I don’t see why WvW is the game’s gold sink at all. It should be like holding the smaller points and supply camps. The more players standing in the circle for a certain time the higher upgrades you get. That would get players to actually work together and want to defend points. Defense rewards are also too small.
The idea that individual players should basically throw away personal gold on upgrades is silly, and discourages participation.

My squish class is a target for a thief for any easy kill but you just have to learn to counter and be awear of your enviroment.
Solo thevies hang around high populated routes and nodes so be ready
Tweek your build to counter that first attack (Rune of air ) helped me a lot ok not every time but it gives you a chance.

i am not a troll i do not run a thief i was mearly pointing out that you can counter them please do not call me a troll!
you just have to be ready if you are hit i run Rune of air as this gives you chance to lighting stirke when hit also be ready with the dodge( i can produce a clone) most thiefs are glass cannon builds so you can kill them some of the time.
i am still playing i get ganked all the time but i have asked my guildies that run theives for help to counter.
vapour form for eles is another talking point get them down the vapour form into the keep yes this is frustrating too
Theives are not that much problem for eles. As soon as a thief attacks me in steath, I knock them down, most time they run away. But, you know, there are other classes in this game other than eles… They don’t have that much option to counter them.
I can’t see them, I can’t select them, and they keep hitting me while they are in stealth!
So stop relying on your tab target to do all the work for you. GW2 skills don’t require tab targets to function, just aim them with the camera. If you’re having trouble aiming, downloading the combat mod can put a crosshair in the center of your screen.
I tell you I can’t see them, and you are telling me to aim them with camera… <.<

I fully appreciate the OP’s stance. Here’s the solution we’ve come up with on the server I’m on.
When you want to purchase an upgrade, broadcast in team chat the upgrade you want to purchase, the cost, and ask for donations. The donations have to be more-or-less equally split among the donating players; no mailing 1 copper for a 75 silver upgrade, for example.
Only purchase the upgrade AFTER players send you donations. Do NOT purchase an upgrade in the absence of a donation; simple as that.
After one or two matches, people will have either gotten the hint that if they want their fortifications upgraded, they have to start pitching in, too, or they won’t. If the latter, then that gives you a pretty clear picture of your server community’s level of dedication to WvWvW (read: none). In which case, maybe it’s time to consider a server transfer.
I don’t see a future for this idea. I already used this way in early months of Gw2. In the beginning, ppl were sending money, but later they started not to spend their money for an upgrade… Btw, I don’t wanna beg ppl for money.
Perhaps there’s no future for it on the server on which you play. That doesn’t mean that applies to all servers. This system works quite well on the server I’m on and we have no shortage of players willing to pitch in and upgrade our most critical fortifications to the max within the first few hours of a reset. We’ve even begun to formalize it through a system in which guilds volunteer to share responsibility for rotating claiming (so that we can maintain perma-guild buffs), upgrading, and purchase of siege defenses for our fortifications.
It’s not begging; it’s realizing that everyone pitching in helps the server’s efforts as a whole. There’s either that kind of dedication to the community on your server or there isn’t. If that kind of server pride doesn’t exist on your chosen world, then consider a transfer if the WvWvW aspect of the game is important to you.
It works for now, but what about future? What about other servers? What if you are outmanned and there is nobody who can donate you around?
Please be realistic. You can’t rely on donation…

There should be checks and balances. A small group should not be able to stand under an AOE and res someone with complete disregard. If they want to res, there should be a down side to it and take some coordination to do it.

That’s working under the assumption that you can’t outplay the other side. The original argument is predicated on the fact that the current system favors the side with more numbers. The implicit argument is that a smaller group finds it hard if not impossible to “outplay” the zerg due to the res.
Doubling the damage of the people ressing is a means to address that. It gives the smaller side a way to outplay the other side.
As it stands right now if, nothing is changed, the smaller side will get wiped anyway because there’s no way to out kill the zerg faster than they can res, so I don’t see how your argument is of any concern.
How will the smaller group res themselves if you make such a penalty? It will be harder for them…
Maybe, the outmanned server gets some buff, so they can res easier, but what you suggested is problematic.

My cata disappeared while I was using it.
They left because they don’t like siege warfare. I know this because they were running around solo. I know this because they don’t like thieves.

If you fear thieves, you run around WvW solo or a small group. It really is that simple. If you defend objectives with siege all day long, you’ll never even see a thief.
Thieves are not useless against 10 people. If you can’t do it with your thief, that doesn’t mean noone can, because I can.
I don’t run solo or with a small group. Btw, not running around solo won’t change this problem. Steath has a problem in this game, you can’t deny it. It really is that simple.

For towers, the only important upgrade is the gate.
For keeps, gate and waypoint. Fortify if you feel like it.Everything else is fluff. Most of the time you’re better off spending money and supply on placing preemptive defensive siege.
Destroying the wall is easier than gate…

I have friends who left this game because of this stupid thing too.I finished PvE, I did all dungeons, only thing giving me fun in this game at the moment is WvW, but thieves are destroying that fun. I’m not playing WvW so much like I used to do before just because of this issue.
There are lots of reasons to leave the game and WvW. Thief is not one of them. If you have any idea what’s going on in WvW at all, you will not get caught on your own to allow the thief to gank you in the first place… And again, 2 thieves can’t take out 6 players unless they’re all low level or are just plain bad. There’s no class in this game that can take on 3 times it’s numbers and win, assuming gear and skill are equal.
I’m telling you I know people who left this game because of thieves, and you are telling me that thief is not one of the reasons of leaving…

Anet put out a hint about dealing with thieves in its latest patch update .. indicating AOE would stop them in their tracks. We had four eles aoe-ing this one thief the other day and the guy still managed to invis and get away, over and over. And the eles were talented folks, not new to their class — so it was both frustrating and puzzling trying to figure out how to counter the guy.
AoE cannot stop a thief knowing what to do…

D/D ele can NEVER be the new thief. Beside of not killing me that fast, D/D ele can’t even kill me in WvW.

If you don’t build a siege in time, they disappear.
Also, all sieges have a life-time limit. After a period of time, if nobody uses that siege, it disappears.

I stopped upgrading towers and such months ago.
I’m one of the few who dedicated themselves on defending keeps and towers and repairing them. I used to upgrade too, but not anymore.
Why would I do that? It’s not easy to earn money. I don’t farm money like others, I don’t have bots or such, I don’t have so much money too while some ppl having hundreds. Why would I spend my small amount of money for an upgrade?

I really don’t know what to say here but 6 of you and could not even force the 2 thieves to run away? First, were 6 of you all 80’s? and fully exotic? if not, that was the first problem. You need to max out traits and max out gears. This game is not all skills base, horizontal progression as ANet claimed on their manifesto. Gears and levels DOES matter in this game.
If your group were all deck out in level and gears yet still could not do anything to 2 thieves then the whole group needs to review the group playing style.

They shouldn’t be able to go stealth in combat similar to WoW thiefs. Although they should have 1-2 ways to go invis, but with a long to medium C/D.

They should go stealth in combat. That’s the thing making the thief a thief.
The problem is not their stealth, the problem is their enormous awesome crits, damages and backstab. Just don’t let them hit crit for a while after they go out of stealth and nerf backstabbing. That’s all…
I love hearing about how thieves need to be nerfed and changed when there is really nothing wrong with them. I main a Necro, and I come across 1v1 scenarios with thieves from time to time. There are three types of scenarios that I typically see play out.
1. I get hit off guard by a glass cannon, and I’m down and dead in a matter of seconds.
2 and 3. I see the thief before the attack initiation and I am prepared for combat. The thief either ends up downed or running away with little to no health remaining, whether perma-stealth built or not.The classes are well balanced and don’t need changes. The culling is an issue that needs to be addressed, but that will help everyone out. Learning to play your class better and or staying in a group will help you counter glass cannons any day as they sacrifice HP for DPS.

it seems like you dont get why only a select few cough casuals cough have a problem with thieves. these same rogue QQ threads pop up in every MMO and it’s sad players refuse to learn how to counter a stealther.

If you want to fight, there is a battlefield for it. Go there and fight there.
I have limited time to this game, and I want to make this puzzle daily. I don’t have that much time to make this puzzle again and again each time I got killed because of getting thrown down the cliff.

I just wanna do JP, get my badges and get the hell out of there, that’s all. I personally never attack to my enemies in JP unless they attack to me.
We should not be able to fight in JP imo. Doing it already wants skills, and doing it while fighting is pain in the kitten…There’s plenty of pve jumping puzzles. If you want to do Jumping puzzles, go there.
If you’re only doing the thing for badges (for a legendary, for example), and not for the fun of the puzzle, well – badges are supposed to be gained from pvp. Giving them out for completion of a pve jumping puzzle would be stupid. Be glad that you can actually gain badges without an absolute requirement to kill people at all.
People that want fun PvE puzzles have plenty of choice. People that enjoy PvP on jumping puzzles (which can be pretty fun actually, the combination of fighting whilst trying to stay on is a good challenge) have only two distinct puzzles to do so on. You’re suggesting to remove those two? Really?
