Stability and skill balance: revert to old stab for WvW, wouldn’t mind the way it is now for Spvp. Skill Balance, Elite specs need balanced, base class does not.
Fix or Revert DBL: Revert it until you majorly overhaul the DBL. DBL too large, useless areas(Northwest and Northeast PvE areas), too much unplayable paths/bridges/canyons, too much chokes, weird keep pathing to reach the lord room, feels not as open as Hills or Bay felt(Keeps),Northern towers = useless, Oasis area useless now.
Rewards: This should not be #3, Population Balance should be #3. I’l describe rewards with pop balance section.(its tied together)
Population Balance: Reduce servers without reducing servers. AKA – keep old servers for PvE, Make new set of faction like servers specifically for WvW, every one repicks their “faction server”. You dont have to repick if you dont play WvW. Seeing as tiers 5-8 are dead, do 4 Tiers for NA, 3 servers per tier. Reward part comes in for this because, currently we get world bonuses for PvE maps, so now instead you’d get new rewards for your “faction server” like dolyak speed increase for getting certain score points for your server, or increase of rare armor/weps for reaching for example 100k points, or even if you reach 350k points for the week you get a chance for an ascended wep/armor piece. You get it, something along those lines, use your imagination.
Absolutely stupid. Thiefs are now Steal then auto attack and win. How is this balanced? FIX your FIX ANET. Pathetic.
Here’s what I think happened. Anet put more HARD CC into the game and did not do anything to adjust stability to match the number of CC they added in. So, as of right now yes stability needs buffed if anet does not plan to substantially reduce the amount of HARD CC’s they added in with HoT and the elite specs. However, I dont believe they will add more stacks to skills that give stability. I think ul see small nerfs to some not all HARD CC’s, but I have a feeling its not going to change much until they themselves play WvW as much as we do and see how annoying it is.
I am absolutely disgusted when I hear that WvW is not getting what we want yet again. How many times do we have to ask for the Old Alpine Maps back? We get NOTHING for MONTHS and MONTHS to keep us interested. We don’t even know if we will even like the new changes, so it might be a year or more before anything gets changed. Please, for the love of god, let us have the old maps back until you release the new OVERHAUL. NO ONE wants to go to the new desert borderlands, its empty even in tier 1. If you don’t believe us come see it for yourselves.
I know we got new runes recently to use for sPvP, but there is so many great runes out there that are still not available to use that should be. You might say some of them would not make things balanced, but you don’t know if you don’t try. You can always make certain runes not useable for tournaments, but for the normal regular player base for unranked matches there is no reason not to have more runes available.
List runes you guys wish you could have for unranked below if you wish.
Personally I will list 1 rune id like to see. Superior Rune of the Defender.
Its worse than I thought. ALL movement slowing skills make it do this.
Every kitten time I use Greatsword rush while targeting an enemy and I am CHILLED, I ALWAYS end up 10 ft away from the target! I have no idea how long this has been going on but its a bit ridiculous if you ask me. Please fix it? Should this be in a bug forum post instead?
Has anyone else noticed that you cannot buy Omega Golem Blueprints from Proofs of Heroics, but yet you can buy every other piece of superior siege with them? #NoLove ?
Hes totally right. The rewards are poop. The very beginning was fine. People got rewarded for their work they put in. Some feel it was too much. Anet nerfed it to hell instead of slowly dropping it down to a feel good position. I think the idea of nerfing the shards at phases was a good compromise, but they did it wrong yet again. Phase 1 1 shard is perfectly fine right. Phase 2, we get 2 shards, ehhh maybe il let that pass. Phase 3, 3 shards? I think maybe that would be ok if EVERY TIME you got it to that phase you earned 3, but instead of doing that it decreases each time you repeat it if you failed, so it drops to 2 if you fail again, and then down to 1 shard and stays at 1 shard if you keep failing. That is where anet went wrong. I also want to comment on the rewards that you can pick from with your shards. Right now, we can get minis, or ascended armor/weps. Ye, thats ok, but what if you already have those things? The infusions you say? Ye thats cool, but what else? Nothing you say? You’d be pretty correct if you guessed nothing. We have such limited rewards that are of any use or are any bit cool besides ascended and the infusions. I dont know if they plan on adding stuff later, but as of right now its just awful.
There are too many servers but, there’s far too many of us that have server pride and like our communities to give them up. Also, we need far more integration with the PvE community, not excluding them. Worlds also need there own physical space in game as a secure city and secure communication channel.
When you say things like us giving up our communities, you are wrong. In fact your existing community would gain more people, and maybe you’d find new friends in the process. You aren’t taking communities and killing them if you let them chose a place to go together. Yes, lower tiers communities would not get that luxury, but I think they would rather play WvW and find action than have a community of 100s that don’t want to WvW because there is no 1 to play with or against.
Server pride would still exist. I think people would agree that theyd rather have balance and fun again and bring back competition and a reason to play, than keep a name and have old stale boring non populated mess of a game mode.
PvE people can still pick a WvW faction/globe/alliance or w/e you want to call it, but the difference is the accuracy. WvW populations right now are so far off the mark, I mean really do you still think Kaineng, Eredon Terrace and Ferguson’s Crossing are really medium population servers? We all know those servers are dead and really should be at low population.
I believe ive written something similar to this before, but here is a way to make populations feel like they did near launch 3 years ago.
- Creating a Faction, Globe, Alliance or what ever you want to call it, so that PvE population count cannot count towards the WvW population.
< People would now pick from a selection of new “servers” on the faction, globe,alliance or what ever you want to call it. There would be tiers just like there is now, but only 4 tiers with 3 servers per tier.
< People in higher tiers currently would get a chance to pick first before the switch would occur so there wouldn’t be people getting upset because they cant get into the faction/globe/alliance server with their buddies or guild mates.
< number of maps would stay like it is now.(3 borderlands + ebg)
< This would not be mega server it would be just like it is now.
< The purpose of this idea is simply to unspread the population without killing off PvE servers, or turning WvW servers into mega servers.
< Will there be some ques? YES, this is a good thing. We have seen little to no ques for too long its time to see constant action in ALL time zones.
< side note – Night Capping wont happen due to other servers actually having a force of people instead of no 1.
The new borderlands need fixing, but this thread is just for population. I know current population is not 100% accurate, but I feel with this change it doesnt matter what tier you’d be in you would find action all the time, and thats how WvW was intended to be.

I actually like this, it forces less reckless plays, and you DO have to care about staying alive to make an impact for your squad/team.
Ye sure it makes you have to be careful, but that just means the very few people now a days have even less reason to try making big plays and ends up making us play pirate ship even more and we all know pirate ship for days is no fun. Do you honestly want to spend more of your time running back to the fight you were just in? That’s what it does, and tell me that you’d actually not mind spending 5 minutes to cross the new maps everytime because you could just simply not rally like you did before. The reviving thing is stupid too, you wont be able to revive your mesmer buddy hiding in some keep because you got 5 guys spamming staff 1 looking for you and even though they are not anywhere near you you cant revive him because you are stuck in combat. I know ecchiboy the resing/medic thief guy on youtube would not be happy that he cant do his thing anymore.

I got into fractals because I knew id get ascended armor/wep chances, but now that thats not the case, I havent really touched them since. If they returned that system of ascended chance id definitely come back so I could actually finish my ascended sets. I cant be the only person who hates crafting so fractals were the only way really to earn ascended for me. R.I.P fractals 2k15

Elementalists have now been SAVED! EA and EA have now been moved into different trait tiers, so now we dont have to delete our Elementalists! Thank you arenanet for not destroying elementalist for me.
I like how people think they are reducing attunement swap time by a good amount, but in reality its reduced by like .3 seconds. They want it at 8.7 seconds and it says 9 on the attunement you just swapped from, so you think you are being kitten now, then you should be very upset to learn this. Dont change EA and EA from what it is now, or you will just make people very upset.
There is obviously something wrong with atleast 1 of their servers. When I say this I mean connectivity has absolutely been bad. Disconnects become more and more frequent especially in WvW. There was a 2 day period after the dev came into WvW where I had 0 issues with connection. At that time they were moving servers around. I would love to see them work to find which servers and which IP addresses are the problem and replace them. It doesnt make sense to keep trying to repair the server and IP addresses that we know are going to be a problem again in a week or 2 after it was repaired. I cant get into WvW anymore because I only get my dailys done then get disconnected. Its not on my end, and I know for sure or my Call of Duty games would kick me out of matches the same time or close to the same time as I disconnect from GW2.
Why not just delete elemental contingency and move elemental attunement to that spot and find some crap trait to fill in for the missing grand master because we all know we are going to take evasive arcana over any final trait in that line?

@blackbeard you are almost correct, but D/D would take just as much of a nerf as staff, because they rely on blasting their own fields still.
Id like to add that if this change happened, the offensive side of dodge spell casting would dissapear completely. I know I use my dodges offensively all the time, but if this change happened I wouldnt be able to sustain while being offensive. Fights will become very stale when I cant push in to make the first move, because I wont live getting back to a safe spot.
Any of you that say Anets change is going to be fine is completely and utterly wrong. If you pick evasive arcana over elemental attunement sure you can sustain for a few seconds, but you arent going to be able to sustain over long periods of time. If you pick elemental attunement over evasive arcana you are going to lack sustain AND damage. Once again sure you will be able to sustain for a very short period of time, but long term you will suffer. If you want to try and purposely blast your own fields in combat, you arent going to do it nearly as effectively as you once did. TLDR – they want to make you respawn more, and give up more bags in longer fights. They also want to FORCE you to have to run around with an engineer buddy to blast your fields like you once were able to do yourself. I vote we all stand up for ourselves like we did the last time they tried to change this, and we FORCE them to leave it the kitten alone. #ELES UNITE!

The fact that we are being forced to chose between Evasive Arcana over Elemental Attunement is absolutely rediculous when elementalists core being is revolving around team game play. Elementalists are going to lose condition removal and self sustain due to them not receiving regeneration and protection through elemental attunement. If you decide to take Elemental Attunement instead of Evasive Arcana you arent going to be able to dodge heal and remove conditions, blast combo fields on earth dodge, and you arent going to be able to blind on dodge. Either way you chose you are being ripped off. Its not only unfair, this change will unbalance elementalists that are already not 100% equal with other professions as they currently stand. I suggest replacing elemental attunement with Elemental Contingency, and getting rid of Elemental Contingency, so elemental attunement is in the Master line instead of Elemental Contingency.
Yo guys, I gave him as much info and showed him as much as I possibly could in game. I Dced a few times, idk how many other people DC during these situations, but if you have and you dont think it was on your end post here. I saw our commander dc also so I dont think it was just me. A thanks goes out to JQ for making it lagtastic for him to see and measure it on his graphs.
stephen did you notice a change in lag when reducing map capacity? Would you think about reducing map capacity even more to make sure a map never got over 60% CPU? If you did this and found the findings to be improved, would you consider doing this to all NA and EU servers to prevent this nonsense lag we all hate? Lastly, would you think about doing this type of capacity reduction to PvE maps also so it doesnt effect people in WvW? I think if populations were spread out into many different maps and made people use “skill” to defeat what ever they are facing, maybe we wouldnt have issues with lag/skill lag.
i wasnt able to log on forums a second ago.. also got kicked from Spvp. Something not right and they arent telling us anything. couldnt relog in game either.
I tested how bad this situation is yesterday. I went into EOTM and played for maybe 2 hours and had 0 skill lag/lag. I also had 0 problems with any kind of DC or errors. I decided to go to BG BL, and not even 5 minutes later I DCed. I literally only went to capture a ruin and sat in garrison, and wouldnt you know DCed. I decided again I was going to try later on at night. I swear to you I DCed probably 3 times within an hour? Not only did I DC, I had skill lag. There is most definitely something wrong with the alpine maps and EBG. I can play in PvE and be just fine, but soon as I touch apline maps its GG DC.
A lot of the issue is yes servers need to be fixed, but it happens because there are so many people in 1 area of a map at the same time. We as a community need to spread ourselves out down into tiers 3,4,5,6,7, and 8. Right now, we have a situation where everyone wants to be in tiers 1 and 2, because there isnt enough people in lower tiers to fight like we used to have back at the start of the game. We also dont want to move out of tier 1 and 2, because in Seasons the REWARDS are much better for higher tiers. No one wants to keep moving servers, because the cost is so high now compared to what it used to be. We all know WvW doesnt gain enough profit for anyone to move servers constantly let alone playing WvW only, we have to PvE to afford siege and food. Anet needs to start rewarding lower tiers more for seasons or reducing higher tier map capacity just to get people to spread out. I myself say this lag is rediculous, but I wont move due to cost, lower tiers arent populated, and crap rewards for seasons in lower tiers.
2 times in the past hour ive gotten the typical anet message saying theres an error or w/e and my game crashes whenever I have left a party while inside of a dungeon. Its pretty annoying and I really dont want to do dungeons anymore til its fixed.
Im having the same issue. Its right after you get the gw2 setup part done and your pc asks you if you want to allow this program to change your pc, I of course hit yes, and then the client just sits there frozen and wont respond. I havent had this issue before, so I believe something with this patch did it. I even tried running it in multiple internet options, IE,chrome, etc.
My problem is sure smaller forces can defend better now with the way keeps/towers are setup, but if its so laggy due to map capacity being so large and every1 blobbing, then really those defenses arent going to help. They need to fix populations and then these changes might actually be noticable. If maps held only 60 people instead of the 100 it can now, it would make it so tiers 3, 4, 5, and maybe 6 actually be playable and balanced.
I was thinking about NA servers populations, and how to improve them without having to merge servers and deleting a few tiers, or doing it how EoTM does it.
My Idea: – Reducing map capacity for higher tier servers.
How would this improve NA servers populations?
Lets say for example, Tier 1 map capacity drops from 80-100 like it is now, to 60-70 players per map for 4 maps. You end up with 20-40 players each map which then turns out to be 80-160 players for 4 maps. That ends up being a lot of people who then have to wait in a que, but if these 4 maps already have a que. The que jumps up to somewhere between 80-160 + whatever the usual que is for tier 1, which is around 15-50 on some maps. Now there is about 100-200 ish people in a que. These people start to get mad and leave tier 1 and move to tier 2, because of the que sizes. Tier 2 map capacity goes to the same as tier 1.Tier 2 starts getting filled pretty fast now too, so they start getting 50-150 man ques. People yet again start getting mad, because they are waiting in ques for hours. People then start moving to tier 3, and tier 3 starts getting populated. Tier 3 map capacity drops to 50-60 people per map.Tier 3 starts getting ques of about 20-50, and some people dont like it so they move down to tier 4. Finally in tier 4 it starts to even out, and ques start getting down to 1-15. Map capacity for tier 4-8 stay about 50-55 people per map.
Pro’s of this method:
- Tier 1 map blobs drop from 80-100 man blobs down to 60-70, and skill lag starts to not be near as much of a problem.
- Instead of being NA time stacked so high EU/SEA/OCX players are able to transfer in, and make playing in “off hours” more fun, because there is more people to play against.
- Less lag in general happens
Con’s of this method:
- There really isnt any con’s, because even during seasons PvE people still have EoTM to finish their achievements.
What other benefits does this method give us?
- Tier 3 becomes a new fights tier, and people start using OS there for GvGs.
- Tier 4 also could become a fight tier for GvGs.
If you would like to add Pro’s and Con’s I encourage you all to do so, but please be respectful. Remember this is just an idea I would like Anet to take a look at, and maybe give it some play testing like they did on the no white swords WvW test thing.

A chat that lets for example – Blackgate server people speak to other blackgate people from blackgate borderland to Eternal Battlegrounds using text chat. Right now the only way to know if a borderland needs help is by swapping maps and asking map chat (if there is a que you wont be able to hop back on your previous map) and by teamspeak 3, and lets face it not everyone gets on teamspeak 3. I think this chat system would not only help Zergs be able to respond to keeps, but havocs could benefit because if there was a smaller group taking things easily on your map you could type in that server chat and pull people off another borderland to come take them out. This chat would not only help call people for defending , but when you get on and enter a borderland you dont know where the action is currently, so you ask server chat and within 30 seconds you know where to go to have fun. New players specifically have a hard time knowing what to do and where to go to find action, so this server chat could help them tremendously. I dont know how hard it would be to implement this chat into the game, but it seems like it would be a simple thing to do. Please think about it and give feed back arenanet.

I too can vouch for people. My friend/guild mate had 2 characters stuck in that map and its been nearly 4 hours, and he cant do anything with those 2 characters still. I myself was stuck but I exited and retried to log in, and I exited again and weirdly got put back on a previous map when I relogged. My problem is fine though, but it would be nice if we could get a new build to fix it or something please.
My opinion on this is that people are going to try and turn it into EoTM, but its going to be more like yaks bend siege humping the kitten out of 10 arrow carts inside of a tower, so even if you some how get the gates or wall down, you are going to wipe your fatty blob over and over again to 10 kitten holes. This isnt even the worst part either, NPC’s are going to be raining down ice bows like EoTM along with my guess of NEW champion keep lords dropping bombs on you too. Im all for rewarding defensive people and scouts, but at the same time how are you rewarding the open field fighters that like to GvG? Please do not tell me SPVP STRONGHOLD is your fix, because if we cannot use our WvW gear and literally only fight players, then you have totally ignored the WvW part of the community. Give the GvG community a way to fight in OS or some other new arena using our current WvW gear and with the numbers/size fight we chose without any PVE, and make it so we dont have to be in the same tier to do it. Now any GvG or WvW player would want to buy something like that. I know I will not be buying HoT with real $. The only way Im getting it is if its free, or its available in the gem store and can be bought through gold to gems in game. I know atleast a few people who feel the same will not buy it either with real $. I notice also that instead of revamping all borderlands maps and making it different for each borderland, we are left with 1 new map in rotation that instead of giving us a different experience each time we change maps, we get no where near the experience that PVE players get. When I say this I mean PVE players get new maps it seems all the time. How is this fair? How do you justify making us pay for an expansion that doesnt even give us those multiple experiences(completely fresh new maps) that PVE people get so often?
- Server/Tier Balance NA Servers: We obviously know that the population of WvW has decreased dramatically. We know there has not been anything done about it, and people are getting tired of it.We want to see a reduction in tiers, but we know that Arenanet does not want to delete a server. I think the solution to this problem is creating a system that makes everyone chose a new “alliance” which basically is a new set of servers that holds 4 tiers, and 3 servers per tier just like we have now. This new “alliance” would make WvW coverage more balanced, and make it so there is not only fights in 1 time zone, but rather fights in every time zone. Isn’t going to be blobs everywhere though? No, tier 1-2 would obviously be a lot more filled than tier 3 and 4. I would compare tier 3 being similar to what tier 2 is like now, and tier 4 would be compared to tier 5 or 4 now. Won’t there be ques for hours? I would say tier 1 might be a little bit like that, but not nearly like it used to be when the game first came out. Tier 2 would be similar to tier 1 now, but those ques are maybe an hour for 1 map and you are in. Tier 3 would be similar ques to what tier 2 is now, but once again maybe an hour tops wait time. Tier 4 would probably only que on reset night and weekends.
- New Maps: We have obviously had the same home borderlands maps since day 1. Edge of the Mists was an awesome looking map, so why cant we get something new like that for each home borderland? Please do not copy and paste the same map 3 times over for every home borderland either.
- Siege Disablers: People absolutely hate them and despise disablers with a passion. I personally think they need to be removed, but if there was a way to make it so character #1 could not repeatedly throw down disablers until they ran out of supply, and had some kind of long cooldown, I think that would be acceptable.
- Arrow Carts: We know arrow carts hit extremely hard, but the siege cap limit for them is not enough. People laugh and call it siege wars 2, because we all know the amount of arrow carts that can be used on 1 gate is ridiculous.
If anyone has more WvW things that should be addressed, or you feel should be addressed at PAX, list them. This is not a thread for you to talk about profession balance in WvW, so remember that. This is also for the WvW side of things, I dont want to see PvE content in this thread.
Bump! Tier 2 eu time holds potential for great fights, but you are not going to get them if you dont join sos!
Bump. SoS would love to have any amount of EU-Late EU people come to our server. Havocers will find lots to fight. Zerglings you will find the enemy forces maybe slightly bigger than you but certainly not better than you. We lack pugs and pugmanders during this time zone, so if you are interested in pugmanding you should join us. PvX guilds are more than welcome. The enemy isnt always out in force so you will be able to do your pve as you please. Lastly, SoS is a very stable server and is not going anywhere anytime soon. tier 2 for life!
SoS still needs eu/late eu. If any PvX guilds that raid 1-3 times a week are interested we have plenty of room.
If you want to zerg bust during the european time zone through late european time zone, SoS is most definitely the server for you. FA and YB both have forces in both those time zones. Alot of free bags for the taking.
please fix Sea Of Sorrows WvW lag SoS Borderland and Eternal Battlegrounds. Even Gismor lags :l

Currently we have 3 maps that are exactly the same in The Mists War. If there could be some variation of the 3 home borderlands like how EOTM is with the jungle, snow, and dessert themes that would be cool. Id like to see not just those 3 environments either, more new terrain and climate types would bring alot of fun to gw2. Towers and Keeps in WvW are also the same in those 3 borderlands. If there was like for example bridges over moats to get inside a keep, or moving the keep lord up higher in storys of the tower so you have to run up 2-3 flights of stairs to get to it, or even more hidden passage ways into a keep/tower that would be cool. 1 last idea would be to not just have only 3 different maps like I just mentioned, but to interchange the maps to a different theme every 6 months or so to keep us constantly changing our tactics and gameplay. For example a snow, dessert,jungle theme the first 6 months then the next 6 months be like a swamp,beaches, and a volcanic theme, and then the next 6 months be a randomization of the 6 or 9 or 12 maps etc. Different types of siege and making guild siege easier to get instead of just using commendations to purchase it. Lastly, introducing a WvW Server chat so that people in 1 borderland could contact another borderland to let them know their keep is being hit by the enemy. (people use teamspeak for that but not all servers are able to)
