I hope we provide a decent fight. I think we have a good handle on tier 4, I think this next tier will see whether we have the strength to be there.

I wish luck to our opponents, and will relish sending our foes to Elysium! I know my character will meet them there more times in the coming days than I care to!

Necro wells or epidemic?

I also agree with using wells, specifically the ones that the above poster detailed. I liked epidemic, and I do agree on the fix they made to it (LoS should always be an issue for casting anything, I mean you have to see the target), but I found myself never using it, at all, before the patch. It just never really fit what I wanted to do.

I play a bunker build, specifically the Sheobix Juggermancer, and those two wells (well of suffering and corruption) are staples to the build. I have thought about speccing more into them, that way I get targeted wells which would really get me more loot bags than I currently get (and I still get a lot).

In WvW, I run with the zerg as well where your staff is going to be the most used weapon. I don’t mind it much because I love that weapon, so I think wells and marks really go well together when you spec into targeted wells. I think it goes well with the scepter as well.

Maybe we deserve a little compensation?

Since Shouting heals is a more support-based trait, why not give shouting heals condition removal on top of the heal?

- It adds support
- Helps with warriors massive weakness to conditions
- Doesn’t really benefit or at least wont strongly benefit bullrush frenzy combos (making them an unstoppable beast as they said was a concern)
- And it livens the trait up a bit, what do you guys think? They’re all on 20+ second cooldown as well, so its quick condition removal with a decent cool down or spread out condition removal.

I like it. Anyone else?

So, I use a cleric/PVT shout healing warrior in high level fractals. I love it. I found a pretty nice combo for condition removal.

On the power trait line, use “Restorative strength” (Whenever you use a heal spell – removes cripple immo weakness frozen).

This allows “Shake it off” to remove up to 3 conditions AT ONCE. FGJ and On my mark will remove 2 conditions and mending will remove 3 (these are if the correct condition exists [cripp, froz, immo, weak])

-Shouts heal (vigorous shouts)
-Shouts remove condition (Soldier rune 6th stat)
-Shake it off removes a condition (thats 2 conditions removed)
-If the third condition happens to be frozen, immo, weakness or cripple, Shake it off will remove it too (Restorative Strength major trait)

I am surprised I have never heard of this combo before. Try it out and see how you like it!

Restorative Strength will NOT remove a condition those conditions by using a shout. “Healing Skill” refers only to your #6 slot.

Like the poster above me stating that it works, I can verify that it does work. I wasn’t using soldier runes at the time, because I was working on getting them while using ogre; I would use FGJ and because I was traited for shouts healing, it acted like a heal and therefore removed a condition. Shake it off removed 2, and OMM removed 1 as well. The shouts essentially get turned into a healing skill with that trait active with vigorous shouts active.

Shout warrior is a great build. However, it pigeonholes players that may not wish to play that build. What about the zeker dps warriors, where are their condi removal if the guard or support warrior goes down, because that does happen. In those situations, the team is done.

I guess we as players can go round and round on it all day and night until we’re blue in the face. Fact is, we shouldn’t be forced to buy 10g worth of runes for condition removal, gimping our dps if we are in fact a dps build. We all use runes for a specific reason, I for one use ruby orbs (albeit cheap, I know) for my longbow. I shouldn’t be forced to go 30 disc, use soldier runes, and be support. Although I like that role, other warriors should not be forced to do it if they want the condition removal for their zerker build.

Do the devs look at warrior posts?

in Warrior

Balao.3016

Same here, about the cripple/chill. I’m tired of being forced to go 30 disc just so I can remove those conditions. I use a certain set of utilities because I like them, I should not be forced into using utilities I do not like the feel of.

Forcing players to play a certain build, utilities, weapons, or what have you is just wrong in my opinion. If I want to play a longbow warrior, I’m going to play it. I’d just like more than a couple traits that will help that weapon. There sure are a lot of traits that help out all the other weapons, where-as the longbow has 1. The Immob trait doesn’t count, and the only longbow trait merely extends our range with the weapon.

I won’t go on about weapons and traits, because it’s redundant. Sure, we have many different ways to remove conditions, but it pigeonholes us into using a set group of skills that many of us simply do not wish to use.

I love the warrior class, it’s the only class I care to play. I just hope they are able to iron out the wrinkles. I will say though, that our class is far better off than some of the others, by far. S/Tpvp are legitamate concerns that need to be addressed. I don’t think anyone will dispute that.

I don’t think these guys have any clue as to what is going on with the game. They obviously seemed to be on a script about a certain set of questions. When given any kind of “off the script” questions, their brains shut off.

These are smart guys, it’s obvious, but if you are going to do a SOTG like that, you need to come prepared, and those guys were not prepared to be asked poignant questions, at all. They should have been ready with questions for each class, simply by taking friggin notes from the class forums. Each class forum has a thread dedicated to the issues we as players see. Why is it hard for them to just take 15 minutes out of their day, take a few notes, see what we see as major issues, and prepare a suitable, even if filler, response?

I would not take anything away from that pitiful sotg. Those guys were not prepared at all to receive questions from players, and seemed way out of touch from the reality that is on this forum. It’s clear as day that they are not reading this forum. It’s sad really, because there are a lot of ANet people posting on the forum who seem to be far more knowledgeable than those 3 were.

ANET needs more of a prescence on these boards as it is. I feel that the classes are not getting nearly enough attention from ANet on the forum, and many of our concerns seem to be falling on deaf ears. I really hope that they are not, but from where I am sitting, it seems ANet is totally out of touch from their player-base. They have no idea because they don’t seem to be reading any of the threads based on our class concerns (all the classes, not just Warriors).

Yeah, I went with the Ruby Orbs, even though I had ogre. Ogre, I was told, would be good to stay with, but I didn’t feel they were all that. The ruby’s actually gave me much better numbers, and I’m way more satisfied with them now with the change I made.

I still may get zerker armor, but I just really like the toughness on the Knights armor. Not sure I’ll ever change out of knights armor, tbh.

Thanks for the help Peter, was very helpful. Wish stronger bow strings reduced the cooldown on bow skills, but I guess I can’t have everything.

I actually just switched to that build a little bit ago, just the wrong trait skills; I had a few that didn’t seem to fit.

I like what you posted in that build. I’m interesed in using Superior Flame Legion runes, but the orbs sound nice as well. I will not be switching my armor out at all, I will stay with the knights set that I have. I currently use Ogre Runes, but like I said I may switch to the Flame Legion or to the Orbs, I’m still on the fence.

I also thought about using Eagle, but those are quite expensive. So, I guess I need to really think about what runes I want to switch to.

Obviously I use a melee for secondary, right now 1h axe and warhorn (will be switching to sword once I find the look I like).

Build right now:

30 1 3 12
30 5 9 11
0
10 4
0

I use my burst on the bow and the axe whenever the need arises, in WvW I usually always use them, which is why I didn’t go with heightened focus and berserker power. I normally use those, but noticing how much I use my burst skill, I figured no use in using them.

Anyway, I’m open to other suggestions. I’ve used the shout build version, but felt it wasn’t all that. With the current build, I get 3362 power, 49% crit chance, and 48 added crit damage.

Using force on the weapons, ogre runes, zerker jewelry with crit. The runes I plan to switch to all eagle once I get the gold saved back up (been wasteful with it lately) and I plan to stay in knights gear, that will not change.

Other than that, I kinda need help with the trait set up. I use the longbow for everything, unless there are mobs/bosses that reflect. I use the build for WvW and PvE, just to reiterate.

Thanks for any advice.

I think this is an awesome feature they are implementing for WvW, it’ll allow us low end system users to have a much better experience.

I like that ANet is looking to expand it to pve at some point down the road, it is sorely needed, especially on the higher pop servers where dragon fights are just a huge mess for low end users. If I could run fraps I would totally record it, but needless to say, it’s just ridiculous.

I think it’s good times for WvW, and hopefully good times for everyone else later down the road.

Return of Investment for MF gears?

Balao.3016

I was a die hard believer in MF gear in the beginning. I farmed cursed shore for hours. Got lots of rares. I would say doing shelt/pen, I would pull at least one rare per event. Then I started having a problem getting kill credit so went back to normal full stat gear. Didn’t feel as if I was seeing a decline in rare drops. Then they changed the way you got kill credit. Went back to MF gear and saw rare drops go up again.

So now, after all this, I do believe MF gear has some effect on your drops. I see these guys saying you are gimping yourself wearing MF gear. Who cares. Don’t wear it in dungeons cause that is not nice. But when farming with twenty or more other people, of course wear MF. Why wouldn’t you. The loots are much better. More gold. More happy face.

Perhaps then it is a perception issue, as well as not using mf in what could be perceived as the “proper” way.

I think, after talking with some people, I’m more on the fence about it than I was when I previously posted.

Cook, what happened to you using your rifle build for everything under the sun? Did you all of a sudden stop using it?

I use Taugrim’s build, although with different runes, and I find it enjoyable in both pve and wvw. Granted, I use Knights Armor, and I’ve had great success with it. I’ve thought about going with LB but just not sure I want to go back to using shouts, as much as I really like them.

I do really like the LB’s abilities, I’d go with LB and have rifle on swap if there were never any reflecting mobs, that would be cool!

Honestly, I have thought about drifting from rifle and having a more LB centric build trait wise. The AOE and combo field you lay down is just way too useful over what the rifle provides. I guess I would feel more useful as a shout warrior with a LB. I’ll have to give that a shot.

@Balao… yeah we believe you and your Guildie, honest!

Even if your friend of a friend story was true, you will of most likely just started an internal witch hunt for the person who leaked your story…… P45 incoming!

Bottom line is every MMO I have ever played has some form of DR mechanic… it’s there for a reason. What would players do if they could loot eveything in a few days or a week even a month.. they would then grown bored, disillusioned and move on.

DR might be broken but personally I have never had any issues pulling rares with nothing more than a MF pie in my stomach but then again the whole point of rares is that they are… you know – RARE! otherwise they have no reason to make them standout in boxes or paint them yellow.

Now quit with your conspiracy theory and learn to enjoy the game as a game instead of focussing on how bad your loot drop is/was/will be.

To OP… I have a maxed out chef that preps a range of pies for differnt level toons… so when I feel like doing a little map farming… eerrrm exploration – I just pop a pie or two for an hour and take whatever I get from my time… everything has a vlaue, not everything has to be in a drop box and painted yellow/orange to make coin. Make enough coin and spend it wisely then you can begin to stop worrying about farming Rares for Ecto’s, they become a “Nice if it drops for me kinda thing” instead.

I respect your view on my post. However, I’m not simply making a conspiracy theory. People will take what they want from any post from any person. I’ve used MF food as well, and I see no noticeable difference what-so-ever. Sure, my guild leader can put on his 300% MF and get 9 rares during a temple event, while the rest of us (even people using the food and gear) get nothing but blues, whcih I got with no MF gear.

I’ve seen people use all the MF they can get, whcih is a lot, and pull blues from chests with a rare. They’d get 5 items, 4 of which are blues with that 1 rare. I’ve had days where I pull 10 items, 5 of which are grees, 4 blues, 1 rare. I’ve seen people get exotics, even precursors from the chests; there is usually 1 exotic or precursor per dragon chest that I’ve noticed. MF does not affect chests, this we know because ANet stated as much. During temple event runs, I would notice MF users getting blues, which non mf users getting rares, and then during another temple event, the mf users getting 5-9 rares, whlie those without getting nothing but greens and blues.

I’m not trying to call a witch hunt on anyone, and I’m not saying I do not enjoy this game, those are ideas and words that you put in my post that were never there to begin with. I love this game, it’s the best mmo that I’ve played in my 32 years of life. Sadly, I missed GW1 and Everquest, but I still believe this game, as it stands, is better than all of the ones I’ve played. What I am merely stating in this post and in my post above, is that MF has been broken since the game was created. You have your own opinion, as everyone else does in this thread, but there is no mistaking that MF is certainly broken.

Now, this doesn’t mean I want an exotic every single time I do a dragon chest. However, there doesn’t seem to be any kind of correlation between using mf food/gear to not using it. People can get 3-9 rares during a temple event with and without the mf, same for dragon chests. I also came to this conclusion before my guildmate had even said anything about this to me, simply from my own observations since December.

At any rate, I think ANet has done a great job with the staff they have, and I like the direction the game is going. I’m merely pointing out a defect in a system they use. Like I said, I love the game, it’s kept me playing well after hitting 80.

A guildmate of mine, who has a friend at ANet (pve balancing I believe is his department) stated to said guildmate that MF has been broken since beta. It’s either because of the algorithm they use, or some co-effecient isn’t working in regards to the amount of MF a player has.

At anyrate, using MF food and getting a full MF set is a waste of money and time right now but when they get it fixed it should pay off.

The guy also stated that they havn’t announced it because they do not want to have a pitch-fork forum fiasco, which if the forum knew about it they may or may not get.

I’ve not seen anyone posting about it, but I always felt that it was broken when I first started playing about a month ago. I mean, getting loot is literally completely random other than getting a for sure rare at the events that currently provide them.

ANet doesn’t even talk about it, which is understandable. I wouldn’t want to divulge that information either, that a major part of gaining gear is completely worthless right now, and hasn’t worked ever since the game was created.

Damage control will start I’m sure, and this post will most likely disappear. As well, readers will believe what they want to believe about it, but I know my guildie wouldn’t lie about it, he’s not the sort to do things like that.

I use the exact build, except for runes I use Ogre. I’m a big fan of using Knights armor anyway, utilizing zerker jewelry. The jewelry has all exquisite jewels as well. For my weapons, I use power all the way. I just can’t afford bloodlust right now, and I get into downed state a bit too often right now to warrant using them.

It’s a great build for people like me who love the rifle. I used to go all bleeds with krait runes and an undead rune, with shouts and I really liked how that played. You’d get insane bleed damage, something near 200 damage per bleed per tick. I stopped using that and went for straight damage. The rifle is a pretty sick weapon, I really enjoy using it. I almost exclusively use it, and only switch to melee for reflecting bosses/mobs. I also switch for the warhorn, obviously. I would reccommend that build for anyone who wants a foundation for rifle, and change the traits and gear to their liking (sigils and runes as well).

I believe you get better bang for your buck going with Ogre Runes. If you went with zerker gear as well, you’d have just over 60% crit (mines 51% in knights with over 70% added crit damage). The build is all about using a crit build, I went with ogre runes for the increased power, but you can go either way.

I could bring up a WW2 reference, with how the Marines used FT’s during the island hopping campaign, but I think that wouldn’t be appropriate at all.

Suffice to say, burning needs to be applied to the basic attack. What Hule mentioned is certainly more than enough, and maybe dps bumped to 980. I’d be happy with burning applied when hitting FT1, because you can apply burning right off if one wanted to, then spam FT1 and the other abilities when needed.

I trust that when Anet is able to get to working more on the classes, that a lot of issues will hopefully disappear for the betterment of us all.

I would love to see the timers staggered a lot more. So far, I believe they all have a 2 hour 30 minute timer, Shatterer is a 10 minute spawn window, Tequatl is 30 minutes and Claw is 1 hour 15 minutes. I think the timers need to be staggered in a way that the spawn windows do not overlap at all. I’ve noticed the last three weeks that Shatterer and Tequatl will spawn at nearly the same exact time, and claw soon after tequatl spawns (about 10-20 minutes later), which forces the players who run these dragons to all mass at the same time in the same map all the time.

I think if they were pushed back further apart from one another time frame wise, then things wouldn’t be where they are. However, no matter when they spawn, the crowd will always be there for the dragons, because they want to kill them and get the loot. The problem will persist until there are more of these types of dragon encounter spread to the other maps.

I still think that this problem will still persist no matter what Anet does, simply because we all want to kill the dragons for the loot. Unless they expand the size of the servers for the maps, we will continuously have these problems. Culling is still a major issues, to the point that npc’s are being culled right along with players.

Guild Missions [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Balao.3016

Balao.3016

Hule, there is a slight flaw in your comment: “There is no point doing guild missions more than one a week. That is not content which brings guilds together.” I have to bring this up, because on my server the small guilds can easily do tier 1 to tier 3 bounty missions just fine. The reason I say this, is because all the guilds are looking for the same npc’s, maybe not in the same order or at the same time as you might be, but they all go after them.

This can bring guilds together in the sense that anyone that has the same missions npc can kill it. All you have to do to get merits, is have just one guild member hit the target. That is all you need to get your guild credit, just one member hitting that mob.

Sure, there is still the argument, “My guild has a mission that no other guild is currently on.” I’m sure that may happen, but it’ll happen far less than many guilds being in the same location to kill the npc they need for their bounty mission.

Look, these guild missions can bring guilds together. Communication between guilds on your server is needed in order to facilitate good coordination and a sense of community. If the guilds are working together to complete guild missions, all this does is promote the server’s sense of community. If there are guilds not doing this, and simply are “out for themselves” then I can see you having a problem with that. As it stands, there is no reason for one guild to lock out other guilds from completing guild missions.

The only real time I could see guilds locking out, or trying to lock out other guilds from doing missions, is if the missions are pvp based, and you are fighting over control of an area that provides a lot of resources that a guild would want. That type of system is not in the game currently, unless you count WvW, but to my knowledge, there is no one super omega guild that can control WvW by themselves.

My example was just for bounty missions, but it applies to all the guild missions. If guilds are not actively trying to help one another, or garner at least some sort of “alliance” with other guilds for the purpose of guild missions, then it’s time to find another guild that is actively completing these missions. A guild that is completing missions and assisting other guilds in doing them, is a guild that I would be a part of. My own guild on Maguuma does this exact thing. As long as your guild are not seen as kittens to the rest of the server, we will help that guild to the best of our ability.

If you find yourself in a guild where nothing is getting done, and all you seem to do is complain about it with the other people in the guild, it’s time to find another guild because there is no real reason to stay in the one that is causing you issues in game. Finding a guild that aligns itself to your own personal values, motivation, and game goals will make your gameplay all the better.

One core flaw in my opinion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Balao.3016

A lot of people tend to lean one way or another on any and all types of issues. There are those that want to complain about something simply for the sake of complaining. When I used to work in a gas station, a man once complained to a woman that she parked in an area that he normally parks, and then proceeded to berrate her for half an hour over it. It was ridiculous to watch and listen to this man complain like he was, when the parking area in front of the entrance was completely clear of any kind of traffic, yet because “his spot” on the other side of the parking lot had a car sitting in it, he felt he had to voice his concern over it.

Anet reads almost everything that is posted. They sure as heck pay attention to any and all threads that gain a following, such as this one. This thread will be shut down if they perceive school-yard trash talking between the posters. That does nothing for a debate, and does nothing for a discussion. I would strongly advice that this discussion stays on track.

As for my own opinion on this thread, I think the OP lays out his concerns quite nicely. Easy to read, and the concerns are all on point and valid. I see there are problems with the game, anyone can see them. If the playerbase does not wish to see the problems out of blind loyalty or trust to the developer, that is there perrogative. I watched from the sideline as Anet worked, enchanced, worked some more, and enhanced GW1. A lot of the problems they had at launch, where there were pages upon pages of player rage and frustration over one thing or another, are completely gone 6-7 years later.

Honestly, I believe in Anet. I trust that they don’t want to sink their own game, no developer wants to. I also believe the things the playerbase are complaining about right now won’t even be thought about in a year’s time. I would even go so far as to say within 6 months, 70% of all the issues people complain about right now won’t even be an afterthought.

This is a new age we live in, where people want things last week, and expect updates yesterday. This age has a name, The Age of Entitlement. Every single game that has come after World of Warcraft launched, has a very large playerbase in them that have gotten this disease. These same people will also complain simply for the sake of complaining, and will not listen to any sort of reason. They will simply ignore anything said that makes sense, and instead focus on something else to complain about. These people are trolls, and will continue to do this sort of thing “just because”. Make no mistake, the OP is not one of these people.

This is a very real problem. I’m on Maguuma, and know pretty much most of the guilds on this server. I’ve been seeing more and more guilds that are not from this server at all of our major events. Every single one I messaged and they told me they were not from Maguuma.

These people lag out every single one of our events, to the point that the entire map is put on overflow. It’s so bad that people who are at the fight the entire time are unable to even get a hit on the target mob to get credit for the chest.

Guesting needs to end, because it’s causing way more problems than it’s causing. I’d say put one more free server transfer for a 24 hr period for everyone, then put it back on gems.

I like the new changes. Why? Well, before the changes were implemented, I don’t think I would have ever been able to complete the map in Straits of Devastation, simply because people were never there to allow for the Temple of Balthazar to be cleared. Today, there was a massive force of players there to clear it, and it was pretty awesome to take part in that.

I made some good gold off that one event, about 2.50g off one or two rares. Before the patch, I never considered that I’d even see a legendary on mycharacter, but now I can actually realize that it may happen. I’ve not saved any thing other than obsidian shards, and that’s because I can’t sell ’em.

However, with how the loot tables were fixed (they were bugged if you all remember), I very well may get a precursor. Now, I have to get into the mindset that I have got to save ectos, and T6 mats just in case I end up with a precursor that I’ll use.

Orr has always been my favorite continent in GW2, and with the changes that were made, it’s actually worthwhile to do all or most of the events down there simply because of the rewards you will get for the effort you put into it.

All in all, I approve of the changes, and the price drops. They were sorely needed, in my opinion, becuase who wants to sit around wait 2 years for something that very well may never come? I know I don’t want to do that, and before this patch hit, it was looking like a lot of players were going to be waiting a very, very, very long time for something that most likely would never have come to them.

I love knights armor, and totally reccommend it.

I like how knights armor and ogre runes go pretty well together, because you have the power there, and the toughness to help you live. I honestly could care less about the crit % I lose out on with zerker. I’m really just now replaceing some of my kngihts with zerker, but i’m not going full zerker. I honestly should just stay full knights, I like the toughness way too much to give it up.

Toughness is a double-edged sword. It makes you tougher, yes, but it also makes you an aggro-magnet. That’s how Berserker Warriors actually work; they have no Toughness to draw aggro.

Have to go to school, but wait, can you explain?
Having higher toughness CAUSES aggro?

Oh my, yes. Stacking Toughness is one of the easier ways to make yourself an aggro-magnet. Armour too, which is why Warriors/Guardians draw ever so slightly more aggro than the other Professions by default.

Wow! I really had no idea that actually happened when you had a lot of toughness. No wonder I would see bosses focus on me sometimes throughout a fight. Granted, if I’m the only heavy armor wearing player there, of course the mob/boss would focus on me more. Very interesting, and I’m going to have to go for zerker armor then.

Rifle Warrior (The New Dungeon Build.)

I was a shout warrior for a few weeks, and I enjoyed it alot. I was there for support, to help my team. I still did good damage, 3k attack was what I was told would allow me to still contribute to the team damage wise, with a rifle it was somewhere around 3.1k-3.2k. Sure, a full zerker warrior would be way more, but I was in knights gear (still am) with soldier runes and zerker jewelry. I had zero complaints, and not one person had ever told me to change what I was doing.

I’ve had people ask me what my build was, and they had no complaints over it as well. So, going shouts with rifle isn’t a bad idea, but make sure to have a melee switch for reflect, otherwise it’ll be a bad day for you.

Here is what I started with:

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/74697-build-sonic-boon-shout-greatsword/

I liked that build a lot, but didn’t think I was contributing enough to my groups, even though I never got a complaint. I was actually told that the runs were much better because might was up constantly throughout every single fight, the duration would be nearly a minute long, it was pretty awesome. Not only that, but each shout was healing for around 1228-1250 with no healing power at all. I also had condition removal, which was very helpful, even when our guardians went down for one reason or another.

I then saw a youtube video, that I can’t place the link for (forgot to favorite it) but essentially it was a 20-20-0-30-0 build, knights draconic with soldier runes, zerker jewelry with rubies. You can easily adapt it for axes, rifles, or gs. I mainly used the rifle for all fights, and switched to GS (along with the traits for GS) for fights where mobs/boss reflects. I had more fun on that build than I did on the one I linked.

You really only switch out 2 traits when you switch between rifle/axe/GS, so you can really use any three of those weapons. Where-as with the sonic boon build, you are pretty much stuck with GS. If you like the GS, then by all means, but if you want a ranged option, you are a bit stuck since the GS adds more might to you with that build.

With the 20-20-0-30-0 build, you are able to use three types of weapons, four if you include swords because of slashing (I believe slashing works with swords but I could be wrong). I liked playing at range because I was able to get downed players up easier, I was at range so I didn’t go down nearly as often as the zerker glass cannons, and my shouts would always hit everyone. Soldier runes are expensive though, as well as the knights draconic. When I hit 80 the first time, I had enough gold to get a full set of knights draconic, green zerker jewelry with brilliant rubies, and soldier runes. Talk about expensive, something like 33g I blew on that stuff; all I had saved.

Anyway, the shout builds are great, because you are healing and removing conditions like crazy. Those builds are for support, and they do very well. I laugh at people that say shout warriors are not that great, but tbh, they are pretty great at least in my opinion. I wouldn’t add healing power, because guards do it much better, however you are throwing out some heals that are pretty respectable. The heals are just a nice icing on the cake, the main thing is, you are providing another source of condition removal, and providing might.

Also, just to end my wall of text, not every dungeoun run is done by pro-teams. There are many different variables that get thrown in. In my experience running dungeouns, the shout warrior is a total asset to the team. Anyone that says otherwise is either ignorant, naive, or simply has no idea what he/she is talking about.

EDIT: I wanted to say, that shake it off not only works on you, but also works on everyone else. With soldier runes, it removes 2 conditions, not just one. I tested it and it was pretty cool. So you’ll have 4 condition removers (FGJ, Shake it off (has 2 with soldiers) and OMM). Wasn’t sure if shake it off was clear or not, so just wanted to mention that.

New Class Suggestion: Idea

So, I was mulling this around for the last couple of days and thought to post about it since a guildmate of mine thought it would be a cool idea to suggest.

So, I’m unsure about the name of it, I rolled around Spiritualist or Shaman would be a cool name for it.

In essence, the class would have a similiar mechanic like the Elementalist in that the f1-f4 would be an animal “spirit” or “form” that the player would take. The player would then be transformed into that animal form, much like the Norn racial ability looks, or what the Norn Shaman turn into. Basically a humanoid form of said animal.

The weapons would then, instead of having spells, would be animal type attacks. Perhaps spells could be part of the weapon skills, it’s something the design team would have to throw around.

I know it’s not a big deal type thing, but I think it’d add something cool to the game, maybe in a future expansion or something.

I think ranged damage is on par with melee damage if you look at it in terms of damage per second.

With melee I notice I’m moving around a lot and dodging a lot. There are times when whatever I’m attacking just isn’t in range of melee and I’m running to meet up with it.

With range, I still have to move here and there but for the most part it is like steady and consistent damage.

Yes melee has the bigger numbers but when you take everything into account I would bet the two end up very close it total damage over the course of many “boss-type” encounters.

That is true, and is something I forget. I’ll continue doing what I’m doing, and I can always change some other time when I have more cash.

Looking for a build.

Balao.3016

I have a build that I am currently using that I like a lot.

20 5 and 9
20 5 and 10
0
30 2 8 and 12
0

I use that when using a GS. You can easily swap the strength and arms traits to axes if you want to use those, and there are some traits that lend it well for rifles. I use rifles right now with this build, with 5 krait runes and an undead run. Basically keeping bleeds up as long as possible while also making the bleed tick for higher damage. The tactics traits stay the same in all weapon types. I have not had any issues from my guild in regards to using the rifle in this way, but I’ve noticed I could be doing way more with a GS or Axes, which is why I’m saving gold to get back into ogre runes.

(Before I talk about the Ogre runes, I want to mention I do not use the burst skills with any weapon. Axes are the exception because the ability is quite good, but honestly, I’m lazy and still find myself not using it.)

Anyway, the runes I like for GS and axes are Ogre, because soldier is expensive as heck. Ogre is pretty cool, and you get a chance to summon a rock dog, which is neat. Ogre provides a lot of power, and like I said, are way cheaper than soldier. If you have the gold though, get soldiers. I see you are using strength, if you like them then by all means keep em.

Zerker jewelry with rubies. Mine are green at the moment.

With a GS and this build, I can farm Orr all day long while avoiding champs and vets. I can kill vets, I just don’t feel like it, which falls into my laziness as I describbed above. I also found that when I am fighting a vet, I usually get 2-3 more adds on me, so I typically don’t find it worthwhile. In a group, yeah kill em.

The shouts provide over 1200hp per shout, which is awesome. Typically I’ll see heals out from either 1228 to 1248 depending on the boons I have. The runes I’m using to get the most out of my bleeds are 5 krait with 1 undead. This is with a rifle though, so you can ignore that aspect.

So yeah, originally I was using ogre and was tearing it up with the GS. It’s a lot of fun, and I really liked it. There is a sonic boon build that uses the GS with different runes, but same knights armor (but not strength, obviously) which I had a lot of fun with as well. However, I have found better mileage with the 20-20-0-30-0 build.

You can contact me in game if you like, or message me on the forum. I’m no expert by a long shot, as you can tell by my post. Happy slaying, friend!

Best Weapons For Warrior???

in Warrior

Posted by: Balao.3016

Balao.3016

The weapons I’ve used are:

Rifle, longbow, GS, Axe/Axe, Axe/Mace, Axe/Shield. In that order is the order in which I like my weapons, with the exception of the axes, I like those way more than the GS, but I think that’s because I play a Charr.

I play a shout support warrior, and my build is centered around keeping bleeds up on a target for as long as possible (my bleeds go to 14 in less than or near 1-2 seconds and stay on target the entire fight unless purged) while keeping my shouts up to provide a stack of 3 might, remove conditions, and add vulnerability; utilizing the rifle exlcusively unless there is a reflective mob/boss. Each shout heals for over 1200 hp per shout, no healing power is added.

I like the way it works, but honestly, as a 20-20-0-30-0 build, I think melee is far and away much better suited for the role. Right now, from my own opinion and gameply, ranged is just not as good as melee is right now.

My guildies do not have anything negative to say about the way I play, and I’ve even solo’d Alpha in CoE because everyone else died (we have a mesmer who has done it a few times, she’s a beast). However, I honestly believe that melee is far better, and I’m in the process of building up funds to switch runes back to ogre.

I just wanted to add in my own experience from a ranged perspective. Although it’s fun and rewarding, melee is just far better right now.

PvE Rifle Warrior Build Final Tweaks

CookMETender, you gave me the idea to create a shout support warrior that utilizes the bleed from rifle. I was able to get 80% uptime for the bleed, with ticks that go from 68-115 on mobs, and somtimes I’ve noticed the ticks going into the 150 range.

The runes I’ve been using are 5 krait with 1 undead, zerker jewelry with ruby runes. 20-20-0-30-0 build, where shouts heal, 20% shorter cd, and empower in the 30 line. The rest is easy to understand.

Now, from my own play, it’s a great set-up because you can get a stack of 14 bleed in less than or close to 1-2 seconds; it’s extremely fast. Now, the mob/boss will bleed like water out a faucet, and it’s awesome to see that constant bleed in action, I just fear that I could provide more to the group.

Whenever I want to go farming in Orr, I have to switch to GS or melee because of the area, which negates the runes and the condition damage entirely. It’s far easier for me to melee there, because it’s faster and I live far longer.

I’m thinking that this will be a great build if ranged damage was on par with melee, because the gap from ranged to melee is quite huge. I like the idea of the build for sure, as rifle is one of my favorite weapons on the warrior, but honestly I find myself questioning whether or not I’m actually helping the group or hindering them.

Maybe if I was more of a power/crit rifle build it’d be a lot better, but as I like to be a shout support warrior, it leaves me with really one option. I tried to make a shout rifle warrior work with bleeds, and it seems to work and my group hasn’t complained to me about my set up, but I find myself constantly questioning myself on the use of the bleeds with my current build.

Condition Warrior?

in Warrior

Posted by: Balao.3016

Balao.3016

I created a build that utilizes rifle bleeds and is basically a shout warrior.

It’s the 20-20-0-30-0 build, runes are 5 krait and 1 undead.

Now, it’s 80% uptime for bleed, with a stack of 14 in near or less than 1-2 seconds, and the bleeds never drop off unless it’s purged off. Now, the mobs and such will bleed like water out a faucet, anywhere from 78-115 per tick. Depending on what you are fighting, I’ve watched bosses taking ticks of 115-150 constant during the uptime of bleed.

However, if I switch traits to slashing and forceful greatsword, things die faster, and it’s easier to farm on mobs in Orr, or anywhere tbh. Ranged is no where near where melee is currently, and even though my krait runes and the undead rune were extremely cheap, I’m going to be going back to ogre runes or soldier runes when I get my cash built back up.

Me and another guildie of mine were trying to see if we could get this support shout warrior to be able to provide condition damage through the rifle’s bleed. Although I feel we were successful, it will hamper a group without that GS. With power runes and crit thrown in, the damage is way, way, way more than ranged. Heck, I notice a difference in the current build whenever I switch to the GS from Rifle.

I think for the warrior, the player is better off going power, crit, or a mix of both. Trying to utitilize bleeds or condition damage just isn’t on par with melee power at all.

My numbers are better with my rifle on with this build, but applying this in action just does not work nearly as good as the GS or melee in general. I’m not saying anything is OP, just from what I’ve tested on my own, melee is just far and above over ranged at the current state right now.

I don’ t have a character over 26 yet, and I’ve amassed 10g, just by testing characters out.

Gathering and ignoring crafting has worked for me. Crafting is something I’ve never really liked at all in MMO’s, so I rarely do it. However, gathering is awesome because it’s all profit, no matter how much you get for it, it’s profit.

Farming for mats, and selling them on the TP, is probably the best way to make money. The only real thing about it is that you have to spend time gathering the mats.

Anyway, that is how I’ve made money. With the exception of 1g (which was what I had left from selling an 11g dye and 4g mini, then getting a bank slot and a couple more BL keys), I have made all my gold from selling 1-25 crafting mats (the levels are the player levels).

EDIT: Had I not used the profit from the stuff I got in the ( ), I’d be sitting on 25g right now, just to give more insight.

All I’d be content with now is the pet following, pathing ai thing, where they don’t run 2 miles ahead of you when you stop; whichs makes them agro the heck out of anything it runs into. Fix that, and I’ll be content.

I really hope there is a stealth fix or something for pet ai and follow range, because it gets annoying when your pet aggros everything when you simply stop running and the stupid thing goes about 2 miles down the road without you.

Other than that, I think I like what I see. I’m not an 80 ranger that’s played over 1000+ hours, but when I see some of you more experienced rangres saying this isn’t a bad patch, then I take that for what it sounds like.

I’ve jumped over to the condi build as well, and have seen levelling go by much easier, combined with being a beastmaster, makes everything even easier. I’ve grown to like the shortbow and axe+warhorn/axe+axe style a lot. I guess I’d only really use the LB when in WvW.

Not sure where I’d put the rest of my traits, either power or crit. Anyway, I beastmastery is where it’s at for pet survivability. I play a ranger for the pet mostly, and once some of the bugginess is cleared out, I think it’ll make for a much better experience, better than it already is.

Seriously… kill some things and get the mats for free. Lazy people made me extremely rich in WoW for years, and I’m seeing the same trend here in GW2.

I love lazy people for that reason alone, making me rich in a video game.

I’m level 22, usually running a sylvan hound and either a bear or alpine wolf (havn’t gotten the other pets yet but working on it), and I really enjoy it. I tried out a ranged warrior, but it felt off not having a pet.

I played a Hunter in WoW since day 1 until I got this game (week and a half ago). I see the issues, even at this level, but Hunters in WoW also had a lot of issues as well when WoW started. I have hope that the devs read and understand what the issues are, but in a lot of games, the developers simply do not care what the players say. 90% of the time, the player base and community is completely ignored. I hope ANet is not like that, because I’ve really fallin in love in GW2.

I don’t have much experience playing ANet games, but I do with NCSoft. I’m not holding my breath for any fixes for the Ranger, simply because I just don’t know anything about ANet’s development team. This way, at least I will be surprised or not depending on what happens.

As it stands now, even at 22, I am having a blast with the class. Really enjoy it, even with the bugs.

When I started on thursday, I was in love with the Greatsword, until I found a rifle and fell in love with that instead. Now at 20, I run with 2 rifles and havn’t had an issue yet. Sure, I can’t deal with a group of mobs that rush me, but dodging and using #5 allows me to evade most damage, unless there like 4+ mobs hitting me.

Once you find the weapon set you love, the class is just amazing. I love the class, glad I switched from Ranger. I initially switched because of the greatsword, but got a bonus reason because of the rifle. Might try an engineer because I love the rifle so much.
