LS3 Confessors Stronghold

Trying to finish the LS3 Out of Shadows and stuck on Confessors Stronghold, need advice/options if anyone has ideas.

Penultimate boss in Confessors Stronghold is a subjugated jade construct which has a shield on 50% HP – youtube vids show this shield being broken by tethering to a bloodstone crystal and walking behind boss.

Boss now stands in centre of arena (he probably did before too) and tether breaks at exactly the boss distance from any shard (it used to not do this?) so there is no way (even with teleports which I have tried) to get behind him before tether breaks.

His shield stays up forever and the episode cannot be completed. Is there another approach (way to get behind him with tether)? What am I doing wrong?

There should be more people in wvw now, trying to get gift of battle, I doubt they are trying to contribute (technicaly GvG never “contributed” either, it was always “private battles in a public area”). It seems that Anets idea of helping wvw by increasing the player numbers is to infuse wvw with a lot of kittened off pve players who dont want to be there, nice.

WvW is dead.

A lot of people are in WvW because they have to be, e.g. for gift of battle now. They are not going to fight, they are not going to play as anyone else wants them to because they dont want to be there (and they feel let down by Anet for forcing them to be there).

Recognise WvW for what it is, a collection of many types of people present for many reasons.

Just try and have fun!

Personally I hate being forced to do content which has nothing to do with the reward one is trying to get, it smacks of a dev who doesnt have the ability to design good content and a game that is being run into the ground.

I worked hard to get enough badges of honor to get as many gifts of battle as I needed for legendary weapon crafting (I have crafted 4 so far, which is not a lot but is not insignificant either). I now find that the currency I worked for cannot be used for the reward I was working towards, sure I could have bought 10 extra just incase Anet decided to delete the vendor, but why would any dev do a stupid thing like that?.

Its the feeling that Anet is taking advantage of players that makes me so disappointed, rewards are supposed to be fun and this is simply a poor excuse to bump up the number of people in WvW, oh and by the way, you know that thing you worked for, were going to make it worthless for you, do have a nice day.

It seems you misunderstand my point, I am not trying to discuss this as it is simple, Anet have screwed up again and it should be fixed (I doubt it will because they dont value their player base, we have had that proved over and over again).

If people just assume the opinion has already been expressed and say nothing then how is Anet to know how many people it has let down this time? No wait, it doesnt matter as they dont care, its funny as I used to recommend GW1 to friends and pre-HoT I even recommended GW2 – now I recommend people stay away from Anet and the guild wars franchise. Hell I only play because I have put in thousands of hours and have friends who play, amusingly that makes me exactly the veteran player (a.k.a. fool) Anet is going out of its way to exploit, the laughs on me :/

So I log in, 5k badges of honor, enough for 10 gifts of battle… wait, no, the vendors have been “removed from the game” and I now have to do a wvw title track instead of using currency I worked hard to get over a year ago. This seems very much like Anet want to increase the number of people doing WvW and instead of adding content (I assumed I paid for the expansion so that new content would be added, my bad) they just move things around so I have to play how they want me to play.

I feel like my time is being wasted, again, thanks for showing me how much you value veteran players like myself, again. Seriously there is no reason the vendors could not have been left in the game, let people in wvw get l33t lootz – absolutely – force people to WvW – lame.

PVP reward chests dissapearing on map change

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Bandito Baba.4921

I pvp every day (public server, non-ranked), usually one or two games and generally take my time to look at the scores/chat with people when the game ends (“omg I got less points than you”, that sort of thing).

Two days in a row now the reward chests have not been visible once the map changes – sure I could madly click (its usually the daily*3 and the 4th daily shards chest so 4 chests in total and there has always been a silly lag between clicking them and being able to open them) but up till the last patch you could always leave them and open them whenever you liked.

Is this intentional? i.e. to get on farmers nerves if they go afk after the map changes? Or are the chests supposed to be able to be left and opened in a min or two when you feel like it?

I would appreciate if if ppl could test this a bit to see if its just me, i.e. leave a reward unopened while the map changes (if it disappears you might get it if you relog the char, or you might not, one day I did while today I didnt).

Xmass gold sellers

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bandito Baba.4921

Bandito Baba.4921

There seems to be a significant increase in gold sellers spamming ppl in the pvp staging area (Heart of the Mists). Ended up reporting and blocking 4 ppl in 10 mins this morning.

Suggestion (not open to abuse, would help) –
Could we please have an option to auto block people we report as gold sellers, its kind of annoying to click multiple times to report then click multiple times to block. Actually what would be awesome would be a new option in “right click”- “report player” which is “report gold seller and block” as that would take the whole process to three clicks (down from seven).

Second suggestion (would help but wouldn’t identify what the gold sellers are doing) –
If 10 people in a map block a player by right clicking a whisper from that player (the fact that they blocked from a whisper is IMPORTANT here), can we silence them from multiple whispers for some time? e.g. they could go into whisper limp mode where they can only whisper a new person every 100 seconds or something.

Third suggestion (open to abuse) –
If someone is reported as a gold seller then block them from whispering anyone for 60s, non stacking and not repeated if the same person blocks them again. This is more open to abuse than suggestion two but limits gold selling a LOT!

Fourth suggestion (less likely to be possible) –
It would also be awesome to be able to prevent people whispering you every 10 seconds without having to block them, like a general game setting (which you could turn on or off) along the lines of “prevent non-friends whispering more than once per 10 mins unless I reply to the whisper”

Any constructive comments or further suggestions?

Notes.
1. Dont bother to reply to this thread if you dont hang around in the Heart of the Mists, nobody cares if you “dont have the same problem when you are somewhere else, doing something else, and just want to feel like you are part of the discussion” Go troll elsewhere.
2. Yes we know you can already report and block people, so you dont need to say this (we all know it already, no seriously we know it). At issue is the question of how long this process is – I suspect a lot of people dont bother and just live with it which means not spending significant time in specific locations.

Fractles takes too long to run for many people (myself included) to do it every day, dungeons that can be rushed in 20 mins however represent a reason to log on for 20 mins.

I get that Anet
1. cant be bothered to develop dungeons when they have limited resources
2. want people to be seen in the open world (makes the game look busy to F2P accounts who may pay for HoT) not hiding in dungeons farming out of sight
3. want everyone to focus on fractles because thats the idea kitten

Its all very well trying to force players do do the content you want but for gods sake at least leave us a reason to log on at all (again, I cant log on for 1.5 hours every day in a single go, it simply doesn’t work and if it did you know what, I would still play WoW ffs).

2. Do something about gold selling, I never want to get whispers from people asking me to go to some random website and buy gold/items.

Not working for me, I log in quite regularly and get spam (almost always in Divinities reach by the bank). My point is actually very simple,

Why should I have to right click and select block? If I dont reply that should be enough.

NB. Its not one whisper I have a problem with, its getting the same whisper over and over again until I block the person.

Yet again i log in and get spammed by someone called something like fgsfsfssfsfssfsfsfsfs every 20s trying to sell me Eternity for $300 – I block them after they have repeated the same msg (with a random 3 digit number at the end) about 10 times like I usually do however…

Can we please have an option to block repeated whispers? It would be great to be able to check a box that prevents someone whispering me more than say once per 15 mins if I dont reply to them. Or better, an option where I can select the number of mins/hours/days (not including guildies/friends ofc).

Its just the “spam until blocked” means I am forced to not just ignore the spam but to actually block the individual – who will just create another similar account the next day and do it again. I do not want random people spamming me, ever, one whisper ok but multiple (like one per 20s forever) – NO!

I have just read the blog on trait changes, it seems that we may get points to unlock stuff by doing skill challenges – I have already unlocked all traits on 8 chars (one of each class) however have not done all skill challenges i.e. have not got all skills on all chars or done all skill challenges on all chars.

Will I find, if I buy the expansion, that I am only able to buy some of the traits on each char?

Thanks,

Me.

I had to spend hours in pvp over Christmas to get an exo rebreather you cant in reality use in pvp, very negative experience for someone who hates pvp, thanks for that.

Need map completion in order to craft a ledgendary which I have all the other mats for. I have no interest in any pvp (including wvw) and my world has been green-blue-green-blue I have every point in all boarderlands and eternal except main red keep eternal poi and vista. Every day I log on a couple of times and check, we have never taken it, I suggest taking it and are laughed at/insulted.

I get that the number of GW2 palyers is falling, interest in the game is at an all time low (hence the number of people talking about expansions) and ANet need everyone to play all game modes in order to maximize their income/make it look like people still play gw2, however, this is a very negative experience for people to go through. I used to play 2 hours day ish, now its down to 15 mins (time to check wvw and get daily log in reward) – im loosing interest in the game by being forced to play in a way I do not find fun.

I get that xmass is only a couple of weeks and I could have started years ago with wvw map completion however as I have said, I have no interest in pvp, I was never going to go into pvp unless forced and I was never going to enjoy it. I also get that crafting ledgendarys is supposed to be hard however it should still be fun and waiting months in wvw, being insulted/laughed at is not fun.

pvp and pve should be totally separate, you should not have to do one in order to complete aspects of the other, people should be free to enjoy playing the game and not be forced to play in a way they find negative/dislike. For over a month I have found GW2 to be frustrating and annoying, yesterday a colleague asked me what MMO games I recommended – my reply was “dont play wow as its too expensive and will suck up all your time and dont play gw2 as its not fun”.

Its funny as for over two years I would actually have recommended GW2 because I found it to be a game you could have fun playing how you wanted, this is no longer the case for me and it makes me sad.

Make map completion account bound

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bandito Baba.4921

I think most people who read the OP missed the point, the suggestion was not to unlock wps but to allow you to get credit for what all your chars have done – e.g. if one toon has done half a map and another toon has done the other half then your “account” has done that entire map. You could still track it by toon (and have the gifts of exp done per toon) but have an overall account version which gives you the “been there done that” title when you account has “been there done that” rather than when a single char has. The OP has to explore with his main in order to make prgogress with this title and that discorages using alts to explore, I doubt he was impling that wps should be unlocked. Its a shame the community trolls jump in with “no, no and no” before they take the time to understand – its obvious the OP did not mean to unlock wps (he says “I WOULD like to walk with alts..” not “I dont want my alts to have to walk….”).

[Suggestion] Dungeon XP rewards

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Bandito Baba.4921

Bandito Baba.4921

It seems wrong for someone to be able to buy XP from a dungeon, I say this as “Experiance” is supposed to be a reward for doing something where you can learn, you should never be able to buy it.

The first part of my suggestion is that the dungeon XP reward be given with the dungeon chest which should be able to be opened on any char on your account. This allows people to give the xp to the char they want (i.e. the human player has learnt from the dungeon, the gw2 char that gets the xp is not relevent as its controled by the same human). This is no different to now in that people can switch chars, this would just make it easier.

The second part of my suggestion is that the XP should be missing from the chest if the player does not contribute to the final boss kill – i.e. do reasonable damage. This should not be hard to implement as the framework to allow this already exists (some kills only give credit based on your damage in other areas of the game).

These changes would allow people who contribute to the dungeons to get xp as they should (without switching chars at the last min) but prevent people just buying xp which is clearly pay-to-win (as you can buy game gold with real money). It would also prevent people going afk during the final bossfight, which I have seen happen a few times.

I understand this may hurt people selling paths however I feel it is wrong to be able to buy XP, if you want to solo content thats great but nobody (players or Anet) should be able to sell levels – which is why level scrolls are account bound, i.e. you earn them you dont buy them.

What's wrong with people?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bandito Baba.4921

Bandito Baba.4921

Couple of minor things im confused with here.
1. I thought if the dungeon opener left the group then everyone else was kicked from the dungeon? If this is true then the two people who joined killed the dungeon for the entire party which is clearly griefing.
2. I thought a kick required two yes votes, i.e it requires someone to start the vote and two people to hit “yes” so the OP is wrong, it was 3 ppl not two involved.
3. The OP says “Im new to this game”, this doesnt seem right as to solo AC Px requires some skill and a well geared char.
4. Many people have implied that selling dungeons is like selling runs in GW1, this is not true as runs in GW1 rewarded no money/xp they just got you to another town. Main reason why ppl buy dungeons in GW2 is XP (I think), and you are able to buy game gold with real money then use game gold to buy dungeon runs so its totally different. Also many of the utub guides to solo dungeon play involve expolits so its not always “skill” either.

Recommended changes –
A. Make it impossible to kick the dungeon opener – instead give the group a warning that they are trying to kick the dungeon opener. There is no reason why the group cant all quit and reform without the dungeon opener.
B. Make it such that you only get the xp from a dungeon if you contribute to that dungeon. e.g. you did reasonable damage to the final boss (like you dont get credit for champ kills if you do flip all damage). This is reasonable as we are talking about XP which is experience i.e. being at the dungeon entrance while someone takes the last 5% of the final bosses hp “teaches you nothing”. Allow people to get credit for the dungeon (achieve, ability to open if its story etc) no probs, but nerf the xp for ppl that dont contribute, its both a reward they dont deserve and one they should not be able to buy.

Edited as I said AC P3 not AC P1 (changed to AC PX to indicate any path in AC)

I agree with the OP, you shouldn’t have to ignore “5 player” labels or farm for 5 hours in order to experience living world content. The idea of living world is to encourage people to play, not to alienate them. Yes you could get a friend to let you into the instance but why should you have to!

Achievements vs Titles vs Items

in Flame and Frost

Posted by: Bandito Baba.4921

Bandito Baba.4921

I get that the living story is supposed to keep people playing. I also get that people want something from playing that means more to them than “well you got to play the game”. As I understand it there are three main ways to give players that sense of “it was worth it” together with “look what I did”

1. Achievements (not sure if you can compare achievements or link them i.e they may be more private than public but they are clearly in the game to give you a sense of achievement).
2. Titles, clearly these can be seen so they proclaim what you have done however only one can be displayed at a time (someone showing GWAMM is effectively kind of saying that GW1 was better than GW2 or that they have done nothing worth shouting about in GW2). Personally I think GWAMM should be a special color of player title (like purple or whatever) such that you could show you played GW1 to death while still displaying your most impressive title from GW2?
3. Item rewards, can be seen if you wear the item, not limited to one at a time (one of each type clearly but multiple can be visible).

My question is why in Flame and Frost is the item reward for taking part (Gauntlets) linked to the meta achievement? Surly the achievement is an end in itself?

Infact all the little achievements are little ends and the meta-achievement is like an achievement for getting achievements so now we have an item as “an achievement for getting the achievement for getting achievements”. Honestly, if everything depends too much on “everything” only the completion-ists are going to be left playing – its does make the GW2 version of GWAMM pretty straight forward though…whoever is left in 5 years.

On a related note, im not impressed with any of the flame and frost content so far – reminds me of a game producer desperately trying to hide the fact that the game is dying. I can just imagine the conversations back at Anet “holy **** we are hemorrhaging payers like its going out of fashion, quick give them something to do”. And no I dont care if people disagree with this last paragraph, its a personal opinion. I assume Flame and Frost was supposed to be impressive and im not impressed – fail.

The karma item is account bound anyway so it doesn’t matter who gets it, the xp isn’t but the final xp reward is negligible i.e. it doesn’t matter in the slightest who gets the final reward. Forcing you to change chars is just lame, we are players not puppets. To be honest it looks like the daily was only there to encourage people to level, now they have it may as well change. If the game is run for a subgroup of existing players it will die, as time goes by some people will stop playing – we have to have new blood to make up for this so low lvls are always important – they are quite literally the future of the game.

Still I doubt ANet think its important, tbh I get the destinct impression we are supposed to be greatfull to be allowed to buy the game and play at all, perhaps not paying a subscription has its down side – they already have your money.

Is worse than you think, one of the key things that keeps people interested in mmo’s is the ability to tweak/change/mod. It seems GW2 doesn’t need this, probably because GW1 didn’t have it – I’m bored of the control/interface already and I’m sure I’m not alone. My personal bugbear is not being able to bind mousewheel to anything, I can think of so many more useful things to have right under my finger than zoom! “I could attack you/heal you/dodge from you/bring down hellfire on your area…. No I will just zoom in and look at your forehead in extreme closeup!! Ha, that shows you who’s boss!” Programming fail whale again.

The other solution would be to allow us to swap skills on all slots or at least slots 1 to 5 – this won’t happen as 1 to 3 are MH, 4 and 5 OH, 6 healing etc etc. You could get a fully programmeable kbd/mouse and swap configs when you swap chars maybe, " go buy hardware, Anet fail at basic programming."

While walking to work through the snow today I realised something rather obvious that seems not to have been brought up as of yet with regard to the practicalities of banning gold buyers.

There will be no ingame evidence that someone is attempting to buy gold, all transactions and communication will be outside the game therefore the only ingame evidence will be when they receive the gold (or an item which can be sold for a given amount of gold).  In the case of GW2 this has to be via ingame mail as face to face trades are not possible.  Banning gold buyers therefore means going on this evidence alone (as there is no other evidence) and the logic would have to be “you were sent gold by a gold seller, therefore you bought it, therefore you are being banned.”  This is 100% troll heaven, all you have to do if someone annoys you ingame is pay $10 via paypal to some gold selling company to send their char gold and hey presto they get banned – or if someone ingame takes a dislike to you then all they have to do is pay $10 to a gold selling company and you get sent gold and YOU get banned!

Seriously, this is so easy to abuse it is madness to even suggest it.

Come to think of it, its difficult enough to ban gold sellers as all they have to do (I assume they already do this) is use hacked accounts to distribute the gold – hey presto you just banned someone who got hacked, great job!

Hi, just read “… We’ll add support so daily achievements will be different each day of the week, which will help drive players to different areas of the world and play together. ” in the interview Guild Wars 2>News>Colin Johanson on Guild Wars 2 in the Months Ahead.

Allowing people to do daily quests in more ways than the current way is a great idea however I’m finding the existing daily a great way to benefit from playing alts – my alts are all low level and it would be great if they could still do the daily but can’t go to different areas of the world.

I have no interest in PvP and I don’t have the time to do the monthly achievements, it looks like I won’t be able to do the daily either on the chars I want to play – being driven to different areas of the world is a bit too much like being treated like a sheep for me and I’m just as likely to be driven back to WoW. Can we keep what’s good about the daily as well as getting more options rather than kill the daily for low lvl chars and make it high lvls only?

Offering a bounty is dangerous as people will start reporting everything and everyone. Banning lots of people is also not in the games interest – i just read the user agreement (dosent mention gold selling) and also read the rules of conduct which seems to prohibit “transfer” of ingame items/currency to anyone not approved by Anet so you cant even give stuff to your mates and stay within the rules of conduct (ok im tired so maybe I misread the paragraph but it honestly seems to prohibit everything – catch all “we can ban you if we want”).

Buying gold for real world money cant be evil as you can buy it from Anet (buy gems and convert them to gold), whats evil is the effect it has on the game economy and chat/mail systems (i.e. inflation and spam put people off playing). Its not buying gold Anet have a problem with its buying gold from someone other than them.
