Friday Reset is perfect. People in this thread have already stated good reasons in this thread. Adding to this, having it on Friday was a great cushion to servers that lack the overnight coverage, since the dawn of the weekend allows the NA/EST population some time to play in the morning/day if they want to shore up peaks of OCX/SEA and EU activity that a server’s community may lack. This move limits that period to 1 day for that cushion to be in effect instead of two.

Umm, with a 4 second delay , it has limited use as a blast finisher.

Playing along with Ice Spike being a blast finisher, it wont be useless at all. Drop a field underneath once it lands – both the Fire and Ice fields come out instantly to ensure a combo field. The Water field can easliy be slid underneath as well. Also, it’s ground targetable (compared to Dragon’s Tooth) and has a telegraph that allies can coordinate with.

That said, I dont think it should be a blast finisher, it’s on such a low cooldown and can be traited to be more spammable. It will be incredibly broken and adding to the amount of blasts you have on an ele. It’ll be hilariously broken in WvW.

OK. New problem. Well, someone else pointed this out to me, but I thought I was going crazy when this issue happened a few times in the last 2 days.

I sometimes get this weird issue where my character faces to where I started my burning speed after Lightning Flash.

Not sure how long this problem has been persisting, or if it’s widespread. This could be a temporary problem due to server lag from our wonderful Anet Servers™ thanks to the latest patch activity.

But here is the mid life crisis i’m having: The explosion effect of the 2 part skill—Burning Speed, seems to be activating during the middle of the rush at around ~300 range from the point of launch, rather than the end. I’ve asked a few Elementalists and they’ve been having the same problem, while the rest are lyk all “br0, I have no idea what you’re talking about, all I do when I use that skill now is look at the beautiful floor, burning speed, then gg”

What problems does this cause? Well, it makes Burning Speed + LF combos alot trickier as you have to flash very early, which puts the combo in risk of not executing properly. And well, MFW when a perfectly angled Burning Speed misses because the explodey thing is 300 range now.

Maybe the Burning Speed friends hates us. Maybe Mr Explodey is saying to us: “That’s what you get for looking at the floor and cutting Mr Rush’s employment career short” and is doing this in protest of our unusual ways. Or maybe Mr Explodey found out Ms Lightning Flash was cheating on him with Mr Earthquake again.

Despite that such alligations, all I know is that right now, our beloved Unofficial Elementalist Mascot (The Raving Red Panda) is not impressed with this problem and is desperately in need of some medical help. Do you play with sound? Even if our attunement icon were hidden, they are audially telegraphed very well. And visually too with a particle effect popping on attunement swap.

Except that renewing stamina is a stronger trait.

It would make more sense putting Elemental attunement in Adept and moving renewing stamina. But then Staff Elementalists will lose out as Elemental attunement is useful for staff users.

But i dont think i’ve ran just 10 in arcana for it to bother me. I’ve ran 5 (scepter) 20 (staff) or 30 (D/D-D/F).

I came back to the game after a 5 week trip around asia last Wednesday. D/D is really easy to get back into the rhythm again. But I’m really sloppy with Staff and S/D.

When I went I also found an amazing thief and an amazing guardian… S+D/P+D or D+P (not sure) thief and I think GS/S+F guardian… Yeah i kept losing to them a lot and enjoying some good duels when Odinzu and some other trolls from his guild EP started killing them for no reason and they left leaving nobody in the arena…. Maguuma server is really good duelists from what I’ve seen.

S/D – P/D sounds like Black Kittenz.

Was good to be duelling during NA, it was alot of fun and I should come more often when I can (Weekend) as I usually play OCX during weekdays. Most good duellers here are very friendly.

Been out of the loop with this rune, Does the 6th rune bonus on Dwayna runes synergize with cleansing water now? If so, that could be a consideration.

Otherwise, I’d second the 4x altruism and 2x water runes suggested earlier.

As mentioned already, It’s really slow. With the build i use it on, i’m almost forced to slot signet of air on my bar. Expect to be forced to use the leap with magnetic grasp just to get what limited mobility you have. However in a roaming party, it’s a really efficient stomper.

I do use it for duels though with a lot of success.

I think the only set up you’re really missing is dropping Ice Spike/Eruption, dropping a static at the same spot and then pushing the baddie into the static field where the AoE will land; following up with a Lava font. It’s a good combination to be aware of as you’re using that Air 3 as a surprising offensive tool to counter pressure an advancing baddie.

Have you tried this with a Valkyrie Amulet with celestial/zerker jewel? It’s probably something I’d move towards if using this (haven’t tried myself though).

If only there was a trait that removes conditions when activating an arcane skill somewhere in our trait lines, I’d be completely sold and switch to this.

KH and EP left in the second week of leagues. RoT left in the third week I believe. They were long gone before we placed second over SoR

Shame about RoT, they were a fun fight when they were in TC and Attunejam is my dood. When we fought SBI, they either fielded few or were MIA. Scheduled a GvG with RoT and they couldn’t even gather a group of 15.

Fighting EP and KH on other servers should be interesting. It’s good to see CERN alive and well, was fun fighting them in TCBL again as they wernt much of a threat when Nightlight disappeared in our previous matchups.

Amazing reset in TCBL! I put that Season 1 finisher to good use. lol.

I started to appreciate ER more once I started to get the hang of cancelling the channel when I no longer need the pulses. And using ER as a primary cleanse.

I personally prefer SoR. Especially in Duels. Since it has the offensive behaviour to keep up the pressure, instead of having to release to use ER.

Im happy with all but 3 skills.

Air 2 should chain and hit multiple times and proc multiple shorter blinds, turning it into a ‘supression’ skill.

Air 3 should have a shortened range and work like a wave, not a projectile.

Earth 5 is pretty debatable. It’s strong when casting it on a pass, but the immobilize wave feels too slow and unreliable for a skill on a sizeable cooldown.

I never really found stacking Vitality on gear all that attractive as an Ele. At the bare minimum, have as much vitality to make you feel comfortable. I’m personally fine sitting at 15-16k simply from traiting deep into Water.

Healing Power is fantastic if you can really juggle your heals well. EA in Water and Water Ripple will heal a significant % and the passives from regen and the signet heal layer themselves quite nicely.

As someome mentioned earlier, it’s likely the stacking of situational damage traits.

I hit someone with a meteor for 14.6k the other week and could probably push to do more for the sake of challenge.

I personally think the ideal massive number trait setup is 0/30/0/20/20. With bolt to the heart, Tempest Defense, Vital Striking and Piercing Shards. Do damage then pop into water to push you into the 90% damage threshold if you took some crossfire, then go in Tornado. Just hope the RNG Gods bless you with vulnerability.

It’s hard to really balance. Burning Speed + LF is already a pretty potent combination at 900 range and i welcome the added damage. But I would love 1200 range on D/D and remove the damage as a tradeoff.

900 range on S/D or Staff feels right. Chaining a Lightning Flash with a 1200 range is already strong. As with S/D bursts at 900.

Completely agree with Glyph of Storms though, I feel that should be 1200 range. I only ever use it on Staff Ele in WvW sometimes and the range feels out of place.

I think sPvP Elementalists have been moving to something similar to what CmC runs.

You can always go to an sPvP server and crash the room by ganking people there. So that logic doesnt work, if anything crashing a room that someone paid for is more troll worthy. All you achieved today is to show how selfish of a guild you are by annoying HOPE, CORE, APS and RET people trying to duel/gvg/provide even fights to less pop servers.

Had some amazing duels with this Engi at the end of it, and duelled that same Ebay Condi Necro i fought a few times already this week. I managed to beat him a few times, which im pretty pleased about, but he got me more times than i could get him.

You guys should try run with a set of conjured weapons.

The Earth Shield is amusing on a Condi Ele with Perplex runes. The Frost Bow is pretty solid too if you need additional bleeds. And you can summon two.

But I honestly dont see anything wrong with perplex runes on an Ele, just dont hit them with a channel/chain when shocking aura is up. The other interrupts arent really all that spammable. I actually find Grenth Runes better for condi eles, especially if you’re running ER.

air auto attack does passable damage if it channels the whole time, and will continue to channel when you switch attunements until you use another skill.

Ya the Air auto is great for fresh air builds as its behaviour gives that utility you need to secure a crit and have Fresh Air ready.

Channel Air 1, swap attunements while it’s channelling and gain fury on that attunement swap. The attack hits multiple times and should ensure a crit most of the time if Fresh air is off CD.

Another useful utility is how it synergizes well with the 100% endurance regen when channelling trait.

I like the elemental surge + arcane power one shot build I run for the sake of amusement.

Basically, zerk/cavalier with vital striking and scholar runes.

You find an unsuspecting foe, drop fiery GS, be in earth attunement, pop arcane power, then use an Untargeted fiery rush + lightning flash combo onto a baddie. This will immobilise them In place as you flash on them and they instantly die to all the rush procs.

Glad I did my map completion when RTL was a 15s CD lel.

I am an Australian Elementalist. And you’re not alone as it is a widespread problem.

However, sweeping latency issues seems to occur around the 8pm AEST mark on certain days, affecting everyone on my server. I never have such issues during NA primetime for whatever reason. My guess is Anet schedules some form of routine around this time as I’ve heard US folks playing at this timeslot having such issues.

0/0/30/20/20 seems to be the most potent one based on the preview.

There’s too many good air traits already. One of them giving excellent endurance regen with S/D (Channelling arc lightning with the 100% endurance regen trait is quire potent PvE wise and solid in PvP).

Anet should probably change Vigorous Scepter to work with Dagger mainhand, it would open doors for the viability of x/x/30/x/10 builds that Anet seems to want to push, freeing an ele from having to acquire precision/fury uptime for defensive builds. Or just not move Renewing Stamina at all.

1. Faster Attunement recharge (Synergizes with too many things on this line and others).
2. Evasive Arcana

4. Elemental Attunement
5. Renewing Stamina (I’ve run without this on a few builds).

The only things im not happy about:

Air 2 is too long of a channel that doesnt really have that good of a final tradeoff. I would like for it to work as a ‘suppression’ skill that hits for a few smaller ticks of damage with multiple—but shorter—blind procs.

Air 3 has too long of a range for what players use it for, yet is very unreliable at a short range when staff eles need it most. Have it work like a shorter ‘wave’ (Mesmer GS 5) instead of a ‘projectile’.

Earth 5 aftercast seems lengthy and out-of-place with the rest of the elementalists’ repertoire. This may be a balance decision, however, especially now that immobilize is a low priority condi that a staff ele can easily cover.

I use 0/10/10/20/30.

And then swap out the Earth trait accordingly from an offensive one (when roaming) to a defensive one (when i’m too lazy to swap to staff and need to engage a larger group).

I think the root is intended as a means to balance its mobility.

WvWing isnt all that much of an issue, getting in WvW to join your guild raid is, however.

Try 100% one shotting S/D Elementalists or Static Burst Engineers.

It’s a legit mechanic. The banner is a huge cooldown.

Groups that let a warrior banner the lord are groups that tend to tunnelvision the circle for whatever reason. Pre-engage a warrior, make him pop endure pain early and you wont have this problem. Or pay attention to the WP and bomb it once you see things port in (TIP: You’ll see pets spawn in first before players for whatever reason)

Good idea Azraelle, why not just kill all the PVE players, making them take longer to do jumping puzzles, making them stay in WvW longer.

I agree with Coldin, a simple wave, get the puzzle done, and those ‘PVE’ players can just go back to PVE or join your zerg. Don’t complain about PVE’s in WvW if you just kill them and not allow them to do what they came to do and get out quick.

They’re so juicy though? ;-;

They haven’t mastered the art of running away like other “WvW Players.” This makes them all too delicious. Besides, the Obsidian Sanctum is a map of its own now, the PvEers in the JP aren’t taking up any queue spots so the amount of time they spend there doesn’t equal a handi-cap for the server, it equals more fun for moi!

And the EB JP is a great place to do them. No inflated stacks that cheapens encounters, no random mobs for enemies to rally off, no walls to run behind, no siege to build.
